Week 4: Meet Your Partner
THIS TRACK INTRODUCTION TRACK Goal: Provide chapter members a thorough understanding of the fundamentals of GlobeMed.
THIS WEEK MEET YOUR PARTNER Goals: Allow all chapter members to gain an in depth understanding of their partner organization and project(s). Allow GROW team members to share their experiences with the chapter.
THINGS TO KEEP IN MIND SMALL GROUP FACILITATORS You should use your small group facilitators to help lead this week’s discussion. Make sure the appropriate people are contacted and prepared to lead!

Overview During this week, you will teach about your chapter’s partner! Among other things, you can explain the purpose of the organization, show the work they are doing, talk about your project, and discuss previous GROW trips. While you are responsible for finding the information specific to your partner, we have provided some suggestions for content and presentation. Because there is so much to teach this week - particularly if your chapter sent members on a GROW trip - you may find it valuable for ghU to last longer than the standard half-hour. If so, please notify your Co-Presidents and plan accordingly. You may also want to consider holding a separate meeting to show a documentary of your partner’s country; this will provide historical context for their work. Component of the mission statement highlighted ✦ “empowering students and communities to work together”
Teach About Your Partner and Project Estimated time: 20-30 minutes As we saw during the first week, partnership plays a critical role in the GlobeMed model. Consequently, it is important that all chapter members have a thorough understanding of your partner’s work. This is the time to present as much information as possible about your partner organization and project. Possible Topics to Explore ✦ Where is your partner located? ✦ Provide background knowledge about the country’s history, government, and socioeconomic situation. ✦ Why was your partner formed? ✦ Provide context about their community. ✦ Identify what problems they saw that needed to be addressed. ✦ Who are their staff members? ✦ Introduce everyone to the contact at your partner organization. ✦ Overview the organization’s other staff members. ✦ What were past projects?
