Cliff Dwelling The dwelling must incorperate 3 different material systems in relationship to the occupying artisans. The scuptor needs to be surrounded by the mountain or masonry on the bottom floor, the carpenter will find comfort in the middle level, within the wooden structure of the design, and the weaver will occupy the top floor where he will be able to contribute his own textile membranes to filter the light from above. Rehabilitation The project attempts to link polar conditions to one another, in order tp establish change as part of rehabilitation. These spontaneous shifts of environment provide catharsis. The phenomenon is designed towards a turn in consciousness; a pivot of perception. The sequential hinging of spaces occur during circulation through the site. There are moments when the traveler meets temptation, an attraction or desire, but the traveler must pivot in direction and turn his back to this inaccessible persuasion, in order to move forward. These moments between conditions function to accentuate this change of physical, and spiritual state.

Representation I A point becomes a line, a line becomes a plane, and a plane becomes a volume. The exploded cube provides all elements that exist within it’s analogue construction. In order to ensure productivity, information is taken from various elements and combined to create offspring. Mutations are inevitablely formed within the hybridization. These new offspring will also reproduce, allowing there to be a 3rd generation within the evolution.

Town House The site of this project is the Pratt campus in Brooklyn, NY. The project aims to replace one of the town houses that is situated between two others. My design is a residence for a couple, however, its atrium serves the local Pratt community as public space. As one circulates upwards around the atrium, their vision into the atrium is impaired by flat panels that are oriented across the path of circulation. The sequence of the overlapping panels create the deception of a solid wall, while in fact it has many slits or openings that allow ventilation, light, and sound to move freely between the panels. The circulation downwards has an opposite experience. When someone is moving down to the entrance of the atrium, they are able to see inside of it, and observe the atmosphere of the space, in terms of program, as well literally the outside atmosphere since the atrium is open to the sky and a continuation of the backyard.

Visual access into the atrium is only available to those who are circulating downward towards the entrance of the atrium. This creates a dynamic experience for the circulator who will be able to communicate into the atrium while circulating downward, and unable, while moving upward. The gradient within the slits provides intimacy when the openings are very thin, and less privacy when the slits yield large

In such a densely populated site acceleration and deceleration is used by all systems of circulation in order to avoid collisions.
Contextual Organization
Organizing programs from bottom (Public) to top (Private).
Nesting spaces in order to create more interaction between programs and floor levels.
Rotating programs to better understand a wrapping circulation system. Also creating new areas for exterior terracing.
Positioning the intervention on the site, while keeping an awareness of pedestrian circulation by opening the ground level for easy circulation and public seating protected from sun and rain. Circulation of building Occupiers.
The design provides circulation for people with different intentions or destinations.

COFFEE CUP By understand the motion of a coffee cup in use, I was able to extract a simple framework from this rotational motion. To further develop the framework or stucture, I utilized this rotation as an expanding mechanism of the frame component. Once I reached a desired expansion I was left with a framework that sup ported three coffee cups, all in seperate orientations, and as a whole, expressing their utilitarian motion. The final structure can be rotated to stand on three different sides which provides a couple of diverse functions.

Nesting System The network of archive rooms are imbedded within the public floors, allowing for the public to gather an idea of the activity happening in the nested room, which are fully observable from the next level. The nested archive rooms also provide a certain privacy for the archivists who are never truly level to level with the public.

Research
The first concern of the Pawn Shop is to incorperate the site. I attempted to attract the public to the Shop by opening the ground level to the public for circulatory and recreational space. As the occupier circulates through the building he or she will weave around a network of private interconnected rooms. The skin of these rooms are a translucent material; exposing its insides to the public. These interconnected rooms can be understood as the organs of the Pawn Shop. Each room has its own function whether it is restoring, displaying, researching, cataloguing, or selling the shops items. As the public move throughout the body of the building there is an interesting relationship between the archivist, who circulates the private rooms that are nested within floor levels, and the client who circulates around observing items being swallowed and digested by the glass organs.

Wave Hill, located in Bronx, New York, is a public garden and cultural center. The project is located within this site and incorperates classrooms, studios, a living area for artists, an auditorium, offices, and a Gallery. The design aims to develop a productive relationship between public and private programs. Private studio spaces are visually connected to public circulation leading to the gallery. Classrooms are visually connected to circulators who are entering the auditorium. Relationships between occupiers are meant to ensure an enhanced and full experience. The form of the building is bifurcated. A more intimate and interior bifurcation incorperates the studios, classrooms, living area, and gallery. A more open and exterior bifurcation incorperates the auditorium and a public discourse area. The smaller intimate branch of the building hooks towards a forrested area of the site, casting a short and calm view. The more open and public branch hooks towards the hudson river, casting a long exompassing view from the terrace area. While the building is split into two branches, its circulation and internal relationships are interconnected and continuous.
