JOB DESCRIPTION AND CONTRACT FOR FACULTY ON VISITING BASIS DESIGN DEPARTMENT Overview of the Role The main focus of this role is to contribute to learning and teaching process, to produce the best set of individuals for the future. Teaching is a great profession, it includes developing contemplative minds, and achievers; with an up to mark course outline, lectures. To undertake administrative responsibilities and engage in academic priorities of the Department as appropriate.

Main Duties and Responsibilities: Administrative: 1. Responsible for maintaining and updating day to day Class/Students records for the assigned class. 2. Responsible to keep files/registers/records in safe hands and ready to be shared if/as required by HOD or the College administration. 3. Responsible for maintaining and updating assignment log book such as a planner. (Apply to all) 4. Responsible for handling and filing of the day to day correspondence within the College or Coordinating Members. 5. Applications, requirements etc. need to be managed within good time to be processed and sanction. 6. Monthly Academic Evaluation of students must be recorded. (Apply to all) 7. Issues such as conduct or academic of your assigned students should be put in writing (Apply to all). No action will be taken on verbal issues, problems, complaints etc. Description of files/registers and records include: i. Assignments / Lectures/ Presentations etc. ii. Student’s leave, attendance, evaluation, marks etc. iii. Notices / Copy of applications placed forward to HOD/ College Administration etc. How to solve an issue with student: i. Three verbal warnings are given to the student and are recorded down. ii. If the matter continues, an application is put forth to HOD which is very descriptive and has all the incidents, warnings etc. written chronologically. iii. If the matter is solved by the HOD office, we have a solution; if the HOD office can not solve the issue the application is forwarded to Student’s Affair and so on.

(Apply to all) Being an innovative teacher with ability to stimulate, inspire and build confidence. (Apply to all) Ensure students receive best advice regarding progression into employment or apprenticeship opportunities. (Apply to all) Responsible for facilitating the Lead Faculty. (Lecturer) Help develop assignments/projects for the assigned class. (Lecturer) Time to time initiate independent lectures in order to evaluate Learning and Teaching. (Lecturer) In absence of the lead faculty be responsible for preparation, delivering, and marking course work, examinations and any other related duties. (Lecturer) Responsible for facilitating Teaching Associates and Lecturer in learning. (Assistant Professor to Professor) Develop up to mark syllabus with the NCA curriculum. Develop a Plan for Semester/Term, containing assignments/projects for the assigned class (Assistant Professor to Professor). Keep realistic goals and achievable aims. Assessing student assignments/projects. Teaching is and should be kept free of all bias.

General: 1. To develop learning materials to enhance the Department’s portfolio. 2. Faculty Evaluation is to be taken positively for self-growth, influencing the results in any manner will not help. 3. Liaise with other team members regarding matters of assessment, student progression and other organizational matters. 4. To continuously evaluate all aspects of own teaching and learning and professional practice in order to maximize teaching and learning, success and quality of the learner experience. 5. Adhere to the College’s health, safety, rules and regulations. 6. Responsible for assisting colleagues and helping new staff to develop and adjust to work in the department. (Apply to all) 7. Being part of any Event Organizing Team for the College/Department event or being a Patron for a society is voluntary but highly encouraged and appreciated. No additional payments are set for this voluntary work. (Apply to all)


8. To arrange any extra curriculum activities within and outside the College, such as students’ participation in exhibitions, seminars, lectures, talk sessions etc. Application must go through HOD approval. Office will make sure that the students do not damage their studies etc. 9. Responsible to promote a positive image of the department / college in all contact with students, employers and professional bodies, with the HOD involved. 10. Any unwritten or uninformed event involving students will not be entertained without the HOD/Coordinator involvement; this practice puts the student’s academics in jeopardy. (Apply to all) 11. Liaise with internal or external Departments/Agencies/Colleges/Universities, should not be carried out without a written application and consent of the HOD/Coordinator. (Apply to all)

Other: 1. To promote and safeguard the welfare of students, young persons and vulnerable adults of those you come into contact with. 2. Kindly, do not smoke in the studio/s, class rooms and avoid in front of student. 3. You are not permitted to indulge in any prohibited / dishonest activities, personal relations / friendships etc. which could damage the reputation of the Institution / College / Individual/s. 4. Indulging or creating negative impression or propaganda regarding other Departments or Staff or Faculty Member, will not be tolerated. 5. Under any circumstances, do not engage in any illegal activity. 6. You are obliged to report in discretions, if you are a witness to any prohibited activities inside the Lecture Rooms/Studio/College. 7. As punctuality will be observed for your assigned class, you are being paid for your time and services. Coming late for the assigned class should not become a habit. After three late entries your one day pay will be cut; unless the HOD or Office Assist has not been informed with an application. 8. Time-In and Time-Out on Biometric Machine and/or on an Office Register in HOD Office is mandatory for all Faculty Members. 9. You are not permitted to exchange any confidential information of the College, such as Student Records, Examination details, Disciplinary Committee or other Committee decisions with the students or outside the College. 10. You shall not disclose any information related to NCA during or after termination of your employment and you will not disclose any information and secret that you may obtain while in the service of NCA unless compelled to do so by a competent court of law. 11. Dress appropriately. 12. Avoid engaging in religious/ethical, political and/or any conflicting arguments and talks or make remarks. 13. Avoid getting personal with students.


Mandatory: 1. 60% Lectures in any Theory Subject should be delivered by the faculty assigned to the class. (Apply to all) 2. 100% Assignments in any Studio Subject should be delivered by the faculty assigned to the class (Apply to all). 3. At the end of the semester/term an Academic progress presentation is mandatory to be submitted to HOD. 4. Other duties as required by the College such as Examination/Entrance Exam/Paper Checking etc. duty are mandatory. (Apply to all) 5. All visiting faculty shall obtain clearance form from Department Office. If the clearance form is not submitted to the HOD Office Assistant, payments will not be released. 6. Results (Award Rolls) have to be submitted within 10 to 15 days after the examination end. Failure to do so NCA will hold your last payments. 7. You are responsible to safeguard Materials / Equipment / Studio of the assigned Class. 8. Visiting faculty is expected to attend all meetings as scheduled from time to time no TA/DA shall me given for meetings. (Apply to all as mandatory). In case of any emergency an application for excuse should be presented to HOD Office Assistant in advance.

Leaves: 1. Student’s Leave Application has to be approved by the assigned Teacher and a copy to be submitted to HOD Office Assistant. (Read prospectus for Rules and Regulations). 2. If a teacher is going on a long leave a substitute teacher has to be assigned. 3. A form is to be filled and given to Office Assistant. 4. At a time both assigned teacher/faculty can not be on leave for the assigned class/studio. 5. In case of extreme emergency, telephonic information to HOD OA/Coordinator/In-charge can be given.

Termination: 1. Faculty hired on visiting basis is on probation for a period of Four Weeks / One Month. 2. Employment will be subject to termination on (1) months’ notice by either side. 3. Faculty hired on visiting basis can only be released from duties when they provide substitute with the same qualification to take place for teaching duties. 4. Termination from College can take place for unacceptable performance or conduct. 5. One month notice from NCA shall not be applicable if your employment is terminated on disciplinary grounds or illegal activity or misconduct. 6. In the (1) months’ notice by either side NCA will hold any payments till all issued material / equipment / library books etc. to the employee are returned, and clearance is completed.
