Job Description Overall: To effectively and competently undertake a range of duties associated with administrative tasks as requested by the HOD/Class in-Charge/Department In-charge in order to contribute to the department objectives. Main Duties & Responsibilities:
To provide assistance to a supervising teacher in specified courses. Being present in the assigned class, before the supervising teacher. Taking attendance of the class assigned. Keeping and updating student’s records such as assessments/marks, attendance among othe tasks assigned by supervisor or assigned teacher. Maintaining close check on student’s attendance and keeping the lead teacher informed. Guiding, collecting and keeping records of student’s Leave applications. Writing requests, applications and coordination with HOD Office. Coordinating and participate in setting up for Lecture Theaters/Classrooms or Studios, Trips, Seminars as per requirement. Writing the prepared examinations and keeping it confidential. Collecting data of students at start of term such as their numbers, address and emergency numbers to be used in case it is needed. Keeping a track of Meetings and keeping everyone informed, forming minutes for records. To contribute in the development of appropriate teaching materials to ensure content and methods of delivery meet learning objectives. As per requirement to assist Lead Teacher in the assessment process, using a variety of methods and techniques and provide effective, timely and appropriate feedback to students to support their learning. Students who have been diagnosed with learning difficulties will sometimes have a teaching assistant assigned to them for either all or part of the time to support their learning.
Skills:
Excellent communications and language skills both orally and written. Excellent interpersonal skills and presentation skills. Time/project/budget management skills as appropriate. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Ability to work with little supervision. Self-motivation. Ability to accept academic and administrative responsibilities and act accordingly.
Experience:
Minimum experience: 1 year experience in administrative work, co-teaching at undergraduate level and logistics.
Workload Division / Working Hours: 8Hrs x 5Days Total: 40 working hours per week Studio T.A: 20 hours contact per week (studio) 6 hours contact per week (theory) 5 hours studio set up per week 8 hours administrative prep time (quiz preparation, assignments preparation, grading, etc.) per week 1 hour TA meeting with HOD as per requirement Theory T.A: 5 hours contact per week (studio) 16 hours contact per week (theory) 10 hours administrative prep time (quiz preparation, assignments preparation, grading, etc.) per week 8 hours research, presentation, tutorial prep time per week 1 hour TA meeting with HOD as per requirement Hired personal should refrain from/or are required to avoid:
Engaging in any arguments with Faculty, Administration, Students Biasness towards students. Set limits when in contact with administration and students alike. Unofficial communications with administration and students will not be encouraged or tolerated. Sharing official information with students or unrelated personal or outside the college.
Evaluation: Department in-charge or supervisor teacher will be responsible for T.A evaluation. Department in-charge or supervisor teacher will be responsible for submitting T.A evaluation.
Termination: 1. A probation period of Four weeks (one month) will be observed for the T.A hired on a visiting basis. 2. Employment will be subject to termination on (1) months’ notice by either side. 3. T.A hired on visiting basis can only be released from duties when they provide substitute with the same qualification to take place for teaching duties, as per need. 4. Termination from College can take place for unacceptable performance or conduct. 5. One month notice from NCA shall not be applicable if your employment is terminated on disciplinary grounds or illegal activity or misconduct. 6. In the (1) months’ notice by either side NCA will hold any payments till all issued material / equipment / library books etc. to the employee are returned, and clearance is completed.
