CONCEPT Inspired by classic blue print patent drawings and the Knoll Studio drawing collection, this Eero Saarinen Tulip chair wall graphic brings the drawing board to life. The graphic is displayed inside the Tulip Conference Room of Parron Hall, an office interior furniture dealer and showroom that represents Knoll business furniture and DIRTT interior construction. With the original wall tiles being a plain white writable surface, Parron Hall wanted to explore the idea of using a local source to print on DIRTT tiles. After discussion and testing, we quickly found that a vinyl wrap, most commonly used to wrap cars, was the best solution. Spanning across seven tiles, the image was wrapped on each individual tile with the vinyl film. The Tulip Conference Room has since become one of the most used meeting rooms in the showroom and becomes a conversation piece during client tours.

UNITED is Rock Church’s monthly gathering for Young Adults in San Diego to worship together and pursue the heart of God. Each month is themed to a specific topic of focus and branded according to that topic. To kick off the new year, I developed a new UNITED logo to create a fresh, modern, and bold brand that captures the heart of our ministry. This logo has been used in all marketing promotional pieces to campaign for the monthly events. In the process of developing the new brand, I strongly believed that each theme should be told as a story through original photo and video content, produced by our creative team, featuring the Young Adults of our community. In response to our original content and storytelling for each campaign, engagement, follower count, and attendance has increased to our gatherings.

CONCEPT Since the book of Nehemiah is about rebuilding the wall surrounding Jerusalem, we wanted to give the series a refreshing and clean look, along with a nod to architecture and community. Going with the architecture theme, I chose a set of modern day architecture images and paired them with organic earthy textured images to pull back to Biblical times where walls and buildings were made of clay brick. Behind the images is a light grid to reference blue prints. I believe it is important to include images of our Young Adult community into the series brand. The book of Nehemiah speaks volumes about how a community came together to build the wall in 52 days. 52 days! It’s amazing what can happen when everyone works together to further the Kingdom. Considering the direction the Young Adults ministry is going, I feel we need to include images of the people who make up our YA community. In doing so, this will show that we each play an instrumental part in working together to build God’s vision for this upcoming season for the YA ministry. We have scheduled a photo shoot down at the suspension pedestrian bridge by Petco park, which will pair nicely with the architecture line work shown in the images. The Nehemiah word mark was intentionally created to look like a staircase to go along with the tagline of “rise up + build”. The Futura sans serif font reflects a bold voice, reflecting that even while some people were against Nehemiah for building the wall, he built it anyway. I also tried to keep the “staircase” system up through the countdown posts by stacking the images vertically and horizontally to create the staircase look going up the feed.

CONCEPT Immersed is a story about a young girl and her father going on an epic adventure by traveling the seven seas to find their way back home after a shipwreck. On this journey, the father and daughter come across a pair of killer whales by the lure of their jellyfish. This illustration was made, for the most part, for my passion for killer whales. I have drawn and taken photos of these magnificent creatures since a very young age, making this animal the reason I fell in love with art and design. The following quote, by Kenneth Brower, exemplifies the reason for my passion for killer whales: “For me, killer whales...seem to shout design louder than terrestrial creatures can murmur it. [He is] all about form and function. His markings are as lovely as any in the animal kingdom. The ovoid of his white eye patch and the lobes of his white, tripartite belly patch make a beautiful geometry. His flukes are the finest sculpture in nature...The killer whale represents a pinnacle of evolution. I enjoy capturing the emotion and personalities of these animals in my photography and illustrative work.
