basi6 PA R A D I G M S | W E E K 1 What are paradigms? Paradigms are a multitude of habits that have been formed over time, by repetition. Habits that control your daily actions, your thoughts, your ideas, and your results. Stored in your subconscious mind, you habitually move into these thoughts and activities without even noticing. Paradigms control your results. Here is an important factor regarding paradigms that needs to be understood: paradigms are a multitude of habits, but…they are other peoples’ habits. You have just adopted them as your own. How do we break a paradigm and shift it? The same way it was created – through repetition. The starting point: identifying what controls your results. List out the first series of activities you do every single morning as part of your routine. It isn’t going to be enough to simply recall this by memory; to do so would be an injustice to this activity and to your ultimate goal. Start tomorrow morning, keeping a journal and logging the first two hours of your day (longer if you need to, as some people have a four hour window before their day actually begins). So what I want you to do is journal every single activity until your actual day begins. Don’t cheat! If you hesitate to write something down because that activity seemed “silly,” this exercise will not work. You must write down every single thing you do for the first few hours of your day from the moment your alarm first goes off. (And yes, this will include how many times you hit the snooze button.)
Great work. Now do this same exercise for the next six days.
