CHOOSING AN ORTHODONTIST Time to look for an orthodontist? We know you want to trust your child’s teeth (and face) to someone reliable, experienced and knowledgeable, not to mention someone who has flexible payment plans for this major investment. Dr. Kevin Knapp of Knapp Orthodontics offers these three things to look for when choosing an orthodontist:
MAKE SURE THE DOCTOR IS A MEMBER OF THE AMERICAN ASSOCIATION OF ORTHODONTICS (AAO) Members of the AAO are dentists who have completed a 3-year residency program specializing in orthodontics. They are certified once they pass a licensing exam for each state. (Not all people who perform orthodontics work are certified in this way.)
PICK SOMEONE WHO WORKS WELL WITH YOUR FAMILY Choose an orthodontist who is pleasant, professional and informative. A good orthodontist will clearly communicate expectations to parents and make your child feel comfortable. 6
