GREENFOLDER STORIES

What sets Baltimore Country Club apart from other country clubs? Our people! Our staff members take every step to go above and beyond to accomplish our Simple Truth: Great People Make Favorite Places. Often, there are easy ways to make a positive impression on our members from saying happy birthday to congratulations on an award. However, not being afraid to make the big gestures is what distinguishes us. We love sharing these stories of the Simple Truth! Submit your Simple Truth experience by filling out the Green Folder Stories form, located at the bottom of the Park & Farms email, in Park & Farms, the staff webpage, or scan the QR codes in the staff breakrooms. BCC encourages all members to submit their own or fellow staff members’ Green Folder Stories.

EXCEPTIONAL LEADERSHIP AWARD Ryan Moeller, Chief Engineer Ryan is always positive and willing to help BCC no matter the challenge. Ryan has led, worked on, and completed numerous last-minute projects in his few years here. In October, he worked three late nights from home, building a 40ft long decorative perimeter around the stage for the 125th Anniversary Gala. A few days after building the stage panels, he had a request to build sides and a step to the hayride trailer that was rented for Boo Bash. Ryan leads by example, ensuring the Engineering Team stays informed of daily events and is quick to respond to daily requests in a friendly manner. Ryan has accomplished numerous tasks at BCC that could have easily been contracted out, such as demolishing and rebuilding the Tilly Porch and replacing siding on the East Refreshment Stand. Ryan goes out of his way to bring a smile to everyone he meets and always has a great attitude!

OCTOBER STAFF MEMBER OF THE MONTH Dennis Kircher, Facilities Technician Dennis’ craftsmanship and attention to detail are revealed in every project he undertakes. He can solve almost any maintenance issue, and he is always willing to take on new project, like the squash office renovation at Roland Park this summer. Dennis has made a big impact on the aesthetics and ergonomics in several areas while only being at BCC for just over a year. He is always calm, amiable, and constantly working. Dennis is a pleasure to work with, willing to teach others, and puts BCC first in everything he does.

HAPPY RETIREMENT

GREG JONES

Dear Fellow Staff Members, As I approach the end of my 20-year tenure at the Club, I can’t help but think back to December 1, 2003, my first day as the sixth Golf Professional in Baltimore Country Club’s 125-year history. It was a special, nerve-wracking day that was the beginning of a fulfilling career as Director of Golf at BCC. As a Baltimore native who fell in love with golf at age 13, thanks to my dad’s introduction, it’s funny that the first person from Baltimore Country Club I ever met was Terry Haviland, a staff member who was born in the house (the Haviland House) on this property. I remember my dad and Mr. Haviland being friends, and I was lucky enough to play at BCC a few times with them. Who would have thought that young kid would grow up to be a Golf Professional at one of the premier clubs in the United States? For the past 20 years, I’ve had the privilege of coming to work at this wonderful Club alongside so many phenomenal ladies and gentlemen. I have never received anything but kindness, encouragement, and help from all of you and those who came before you. As I step away from my role as Director of Golf, I am reminded of the words of famous baseball player Lou Gehrig when he retired from the game, “I consider myself the luckiest man on the face of the earth.” I want to thank each of you for inspiring me every day and helping to make Baltimore Country Club a Favorite Place for our fellow staff members, members, and their guests. Sincerely,

GREG JONES Director of Golf (2003-2023)

Happy Holidays INITIATIVE

The holidays can be a challenging time for many families. We are all feeling the effects of inflation and rising gas prices. BCC’s Helping Hands Foundation is here to offer a helping hand to staff members who need assistance bringing the joy of Christmas to their children this year. Please have your child/children fill out a Christmas Wish List located in the Five Farms and Roland Park staff breakrooms. Return the completed wishlist to Juanita Bayer or Suzy Jewett. All submissions will be confidential. If you need help, please ask. If you can help, please give.
