GREENFOLDER STORIES
What sets Baltimore Country Club apart from other country clubs? Our people! Our staff members take every step to go above and beyond to accomplish our Simple Truth: Great People Make Favorite Places. Often, there are easy ways to make a positive impression on our members from saying happy birthday to congratulations on an award. However, not being afraid to make the big gestures is what distinguishes us.
How can you participate in our Simple Truth? Help gather Member-able Moments by connecting to our membership on a personal level. Ask about their likes, desires, interests, and hobbies. Finding common ground helps build a connection and foundation to create a relationship.
Act on any ideas for how to create a positive impact on a member, guest, vendor, or fellow staff member! Every impact, regardless of size, is essential to the Simple Truth. Anything from a simple card to a grand care package helps to further our Truth. If you need assistance creating a grand gesture, contact Director of Member Experience Abby Michael at mmichael@bcc1898.com.
Lastly, we love sharing these stories of the Simple Truth! Submit your Simple Truth experience by filling out the Green Folder Stories form, located at the bottom of the Park & Farms email, in Park & Farms, the staff webpage, or scan the QR codes in the staff breakrooms. BCC encourages all members to submit their own or fellow staff members' Green Folder Stories.
A Letter from Mr. Caplan
Mr. McCue was inquiring about a Driving Range mat for his backyard and was put in touch with Mark Jones so that Mark could give him more information about the Driving Range mats he installed here at the Club. Mr. McCue decided that the mats we have would be perfect for his backyard. Luckily for him, we had some extra mats from the project that we were able to sell to him. When discussing the details of when he was able to pick up the mat he asked Mark if we had any extra golf ball range crates that we used a couple of years ago. Unfortunately, we didn't so Mark took actions into his own hands and decided to make him one. He had the wood and tools at home. When Mr. McCue arrived to pick up the mat, Mark pulled out the crate and told him he made it. Mr. McCue couldn't believe it and was thrilled by the surprise.
I do not know if the Club has a member suggested award but if one could exist, I would nominate Brittany. I have been planning a small luncheon for my nephew’s 60th birthday on June 3. During the preparations, Brittany has been working with me to assure perfection. During this time, my daughter unexpectedly and tragically passed away. Her loss has impacted both Leigh and me and affected my ability to continue the luncheon preparation. However, Brittany has supported me throughout this time. She is professional and compassionate. She has offered suggestions and has gone out of her way to make things smooth and easy. I know that the luncheon for 11 family members will be a success—not only for my nephew, but to honor my daughter. Brittany’s smile and personality is contagious. She is an asset to BCC and is deserving a huge ‘thank you’ from me.
MEET THE NEW ASSISTANT GENERAL MANAGER
Rebecca Wyskiel
Hi! I grew up in Meriden, Connecticut where I lived with my older sister and parents, until going to college at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. From watching hours of Gilmore Girls, I decided I wanted to go to school for hospitality, to be able to follow in the footsteps of Lorelai Gilmore. I started my career in club management, interning at Westchester Country Club in New York and joined Farmington Country Club in Virginia upon graduating. After spending ten years at Farmington, I am very excited to be joining the BCC team! Outside of work, you can catch me in the mountains hiking and backpacking or taking a trip back to Connecticut to spend time with family. It’s been a great first few weeks and I’m looking forward to seeing you all around!
