Print4All 2018 Kicks-Off to a Great Start quality, high-performance inks, or the combination between innovative technologies and traditional media to achieve mesmerising results, including both augmented paper and reality. The Converting Package Printing and Labelling offers were set to be extensive owing to the presence of leading international brands. The latest rotogravure, flexo and hybrid technologies for package printing and labelling, as well as converting technologies, were showcased with the intention of astonishing and engaging the consumer.

ME Printer June 2018

For all those that operate in the printing sector – printers as well as brand owners and creatives – the event represented an important opportunity for business networking to take stock of market developments. The event was a showcase presenting the latest novelties, as well as an authentic training academy that provided operators with interesting occasions for discussion and professional development.

4

Print4All opened its doors at Fiera Milano, Milan, Italy with much fanfare. ME Printer was on the show floor to bring you the latest and greatest from this show, that ran until 1 June 2018. The entire printing industry – converting, package printing, labelling, commercial and industrial printing – had converged at this unique event that saw over 300 exhibitors come together to represent the leading international brands at Rho, Fiera Milano, halls 18 and 20, over four days.

As regards Printing & Communication, the event involved leading international brands and provided a showcase of the highly innovative printed and visual communication products available today. This included increasingly sophisticated digital, offset and rotogravure printing machines that meet the most varied of customer requirements. Whether we are talking about books, catalogues, direct mail, packaging, labels or ‘objects’, the aim was to surprise. All this, while also offering solutions able to ensure recognisability, identity and product interactivity. This included everything from post-printing treatments finishing and the most extreme in customisation, to high-

There was also a focus on laminating, varnishing, embossing, reliefs and screen-printing effects, which provided new tactile sensations, alongside the meticulous study of colour and the creation of labels and packaging boasting an increasingly impressive ‘wow’ factor, whilst also being safer and capable of providing assurance as regards product origin. Last but not least, the event also focused on Industrial Printing with solutions for printing on materials that go ‘beyond’ paper. These included the very latest proposals for ink jet printing and the laser cutting of personalised objects printed on plastic materials, as well as solutions for digital textile and/or interior decoration printing. The event was further enriched by the presence of leading ink suppliers as well as suppliers of the materials required for these applications. In addition to showcasing innovation, Print4All also presented itself as a ‘home of content’. This is all thanks to the extensive and articulated programme of conferences and initiatives, the event provided the operators with tangible instruments. This further allowed for a complete overview of the role and potential of printing in each and every phase of the ‘customer journey’, whilst

also providing new creative ideas and enabling them to further their knowledge of relevant topics. In order to discover new technologies and applications, the Intensive Seminar series made a short and sweet format available to professionals with 30-minute meetings and speakers of international standing. These sessions focused on providing concise and concrete opportunities for development on specific topics. The topics included: Printer governance and awareness – learning about and exploring the new printing industry scenarios and managing them so as to transform these changes into opportunities Channel innovation and new technologies – understanding how new technologies and crosschannelling impact on sector efficiency, the safety of the end user and product traceability End product innovation – product and material innovation in addition to environmental sustainability The customer journey – understanding where the end customer is at the heart of decisions relating to the product and channels The 3rd-millennium printer – analysing the characteristics, expertise and aptitudes of today’s professional printers Market, new markets and sectors

– reflecting on the Italian and foreign markets, the opportunities or threat posed by ‘offset’ printing’ and tech style/text style A comparison of different sectors – publishing, printing, advertising, luxury and fashion Production techniques and strategies – understanding the priorities for advanced production in terms of customer, market and innovation. Print4All was also an occasion for the development of key topics relating to the market and its evolution. The two themed exhibition areas were as follows: Print4All Cardboard Area – a dedicated and recognisable space devoted to the corrugated board sector, which will bring together companies that supply machinery and provide sector-specific solutions. Print4All Online Printers – a space dedicated to the online printing sector in addition to the new business models that it generates. The most creative and innovative of ideas took shape at PrintMat, an exhibition in the exhibition, designed to explore the latest frontiers in printing innovation. Here, the synergistic use of technologies, materials and media, breathed life into entirely new products and objects. PrintMat also showcased those proposing

innovative solutions in terms of printable materials, technologies and printing consumables and, in one pathway that simulates the various different usage contexts, thus synthesizing the very best of printing solutions in all stages of the product’s life: pre-sales, outlet and after-sales. The Print4All school project envisaged educational and didactic courses that enabled students to gain access to the event and have their own dedicated space. Here, they were able to learn all about the history of paper and its value, see a number of historic printing machines at work and, as part of an organised tour, visit several of the stands presenting innovative printing solutions. The tour was also organised with the support of the same company experts who transformed the students’ visit into an itinerant training seminar within the halls. This enabled them to discover the technologies that make printing on all types of media and for all types of applications possible.

Milliken’s ColorDirection 2019 Foresees Key Trends in Palette Preferences Trelleborg Prepares for ProPak Asia Trelleborg’s printing solutions operation will be attending the forthcoming ProPak Asia event, 13th – 16th June, with its range of Sava offset blanket solutions for the packaging market. Visitors will be invited to discuss their press set up and the type of work they handle so that Trelleborg experts can advise how best to increase productivity with the most effective blanket option. Tomaž Perčič, Director for printing solutions in Slovenia where the Sava range is made, says: “With Trelleborg’s comprehensive capabilities in research and development we are able to offer blanket solutions that exactly meet the needs of packaging printers operating across a wide variety of areas and utilizing the latest technologies such as low energy UV. Some printers might not realize what a huge selection of products we offer and how we are in a unique position to provide a blanket solution that matches their requirements.

ME Printer June 2018

“The profitability of a press is determined by its productivity and the quality of its output. As the offset blanket is the last object to come into contact with the printed material it plays a vital and unique role in helping printers run a profitable business. We understand this completely and all of our blankets are tested extensively both in the laboratory and in the field before being launched on to the market.

6

“With more than fifty years in designing and manufacturing offset blankets, customers can rest assured that we know the sector. With ProPak Asia now the largest industry event of its kind in Asia, the show provides a fantastic opportunity for us to explain our solutions and we look forward to meeting printers on our booth during the event.”

Brands and product designers understand the power of colour for branding, differentiation, personalization, highlighting and marketing. But trends and consumer preferences change, and it’s important to keep pace. Milliken keeps a finger on the pulse of key trends, and its newly released “ColorDirection 2019” is a prediction of the colour palette its experts see emerging in the consumer space next year. After an extended phase exposed to high-contrast colours, Milliken expects consumer preferences to shift firmly away from the artificial. 2019 will see honest colours that are bright yet as real as possible – or, in a word, authentic. Next year, we foresee the vibrant shock of today’s bold primary palette paling in the eyes of consumers.

Reactint: Reactint polymeric colorants were invented by Milliken and specifically designed for colouring polyurethane and other thermoset resins. These reactive polymeric colorants consist of chromophores that are chemically bound to polyols. This innovative colorant actually reacts into the polyurethane polymer matrix. Unlike pigment pastes, which are dispersions of solid particles in a liquid carrier, Reactint colorants are 100% homogeneous liquids that are soluble in polyol and will not settle over time, preserving ultimate quality.

Milliken’s portfolio of ClearTint, Reactint and Liquitint colorants can deliver the colours that consumers favour:

Liquitint: Liquitint polymeric colorants are water-soluble, non-staining colorants used in laundry detergents, household cleaners, fabric softeners, and other household and industrial products. Liquitint colorants not only enhance the aesthetic appeal of a product, they can also indicate where and how much product has been applied, and whether or not a product is working.

ClearTint: Color can turn an ordinary polypropylene product into something special. ClearTint Colorants for NX UltraClear Polypropylene offer the clearest and brightest colours for transparent polypropylene. ClearTint can be used to achieve deep, rich shades. ClearTint colours enhance aesthetics while maintaining the glass clarity look of Millad NX 8000 clarified polypropylene.

Liquitint Agro: This range of nonstaining liquid colorants represents a major breakthrough to support the use of colour within the agricultural sector. Developed by Milliken, Liquitint Agro colorants are literally in a class of their own as the technology is neither a traditional pigment nor dye. Instead, it is a unique liquid colorant technology which exhibits non-staining characteristics.

Asia Pulp & Paper Marks 5th Anniversary of its Forest Conservation Policy Asia Pulp & Paper APP today marked the 5th anniversary of its landmark sustainability commitment, the Forest Conservation Policy FCP. Under the policy, which was developed with the assistance of NGOs and other partners, APP committed itself to achieving deforestationfree supply chain, and to advance towards becoming a more sustainable business. At an event for stakeholders, APP reviewed the progress it has made since 2013, identified challenges, and restated commitments to areas of continuing effort. The FCP comprises four commitments; to protect natural forests, to better manage peatlands, to partner with local communities, and to implement a sustainable supply chain. Since the FCP was established in February 2013, APP has made substantial progress on many of these commitments, such as: Ending natural forest conversion by its pulpwood suppliers, and transitioning to sourcing 100% plantation fibre for its production. Ensuring its supply chain continues to be free from deforestation, robust systems have been implemented and compliances are third-party verified. 0.01% of the area impacted by Forest Fires in 2017 out of the total gross area

46% of social conflicts have been resolved APP has also engaged local communities, working collaboratively to improve livelihoods and to

transfer knowledge to the villagers on modern, more sustainable, farming techniques. As a result of these programmes, the incidence of third-party deforestation, as well as forest and land fires have been significantly reduced in 2017. “APP today is a very different company since it embarked upon its Forest Conservation Policy journey five years ago. The progress we have made would not have been possible without the support of our technical partners, customers, the Government of Indonesia, and also the NGOs who have both criticised us and encouraged us in equal measure,” said Goh Lin Piao, Managing Director, APP, “While we are proud of what we have achieved together in this time, we also recognise that there is still more work to be done in areas such as land disputes, illegal encroachment, and perhaps most importantly, the issue of rural poverty.” In the five years since implementing the FCP, APP has invested about USD300 million in forest monitoring systems, landscape restoration, fire prevention and peatland research and community engagement, among others. The

company also invested in identifying areas of High Conservation Value and High Carbon Stock, and detailed maps of peatlands, in and around its supplier concessions. This information has been vital in helping APP identify critical landscapes that need to be preserved and protected. Commenting on the FCP progress, APP’s Director of Sustainability and Stakeholder Engagement, Elim Sritaba, said: “Working alongside our partners like The Forest Trust and Deltares, APP has been able to increase its conservation area to over 20% of its supplier’s concession areas, protecting a total of more than 600,000 ha of valuable natural forest. We were also able to identify and retire 7,000 ha of the plantation on peatland in order to start better protecting vulnerable forest and peat.” “The Forest Conservation Policy is an ambitious undertaking, but we are making progress. And as we accomplish some of our objectives under the FCP, we are already looking forward and expect to announce a new set of sustainability goals in our Vision 2030 roadmap,” she added.

Theurer.com and HdM Cooperate with Software Apprenticeship

10

Theurer.com and Hochschule der Medien work together in teaching and practical experience and offer the students the possibility to try and improve their theoretical knowledge in reality. In line with the lecture production planning and controlling an apprenticeship is offered in which the students are able to work with a demo version of the software C3. The practical experience how it supports the planning process in a printing company is the perfect addition to the theoretical parts of the lecture. Prof.

Dr.-Ing. Witting, the associate dean and professor of the lecture, recalls excitedly the feedback of the students: “The possibility to try out theoretical knowledge in a more practical context has made this course a highly soughtafter offer.” Outside of the general lectures, theurer. com plays a part at the HdM. CEO Tobias Theurer engages in the industrial advisory board and the company offers internships and topics for graduation papers. Tobias Theurer is convinced of the benefits of the program: “The

students have shown a lot of interest in the possibilities our software offers and could learn about the importance of process stability and automatization.” In line with the lectures, the consultants give insights into the practice of consulting for the print and packaging industry. For the next terms, a more detailed apprenticeship is planned in which the students can immerse themselves better and deeper in the software to get a better knowledge about the complexity and tasks it fulfils in a company.

FESPA

Avery Dennison Intros Solutions for Vehicle Customisation and Protection Avery Dennison Graphics Solutions has launched two new ranges of vehicle films addressing comfort, safety and value protection. The new solutions were introduced in Berlin at FESPA, Europe’s largest exhibition for the wide format print industry. Three new series in Avery Dennison’s Automotive Window Film AWF range are designed to enable highly creative vehicle restyling as well as safety enhancements and heat and glare rejection. Another material range, Avery Dennison Supreme Protection Film XI SPF-XI, offers self-healing protection for vehicles and resists damage caused by stone chips, road debris, insect stains and weathering. Oliver Guenther, senior director, marketing and channel strategy for Avery Dennison, said that the new window film portfolios are especially attractive to installers because they allow material characteristics to be matched very precisely to user needs: “There are seventeen distinct materials in the window film portfolios. It means that whatever aesthetics and level of light transmission a customer wants —from 6% to optically clear — one of these materials will be a good choice. In addition, Avery Dennison

adhesive technology enables very good dot matrix fitting and easy installation.” Window film options include HighPerformance Films, Infrared Films, and Non-Reflective Films. Pascal Braker, key account manager for Avery Dennison, said he expects a high level of interest in the new films: “These materials offer outstanding performance both during installation and over time. They add very significantly to vehicle comfort, and allow some arresting designs to be created by installers.” AWF Non-Reflective Films use nanotechnology to reject heat. Light transmission ranges from 5-50%,

with 99% UV block and up to 94% glare reduction. Since they do not contain any metal layer, they do not create any interference with electronics. The AWF Infrared Film rejects heat radiation while allowing visible light and blocking 99% of UV light. High clarity means it is suitable for front-cabin installation. The largest of the new ranges is the AWF High-Performance Films portfolio. Twelve different films, each available in three widths, allow for the desired level of cost, solar, heat and safety performance. The range’s HP Pro films give outstanding shrinkage performance, quick drying time and ease of handling – at four different light transmission levels.

FESPA Global Print Expo to Return to Spain in 2020

ME Printer June 2018

FESPA Global Print Expo will return to Spain in 2020, this time to Madrid, with dates confirmed from 24 – 27 March 2020. The Global Print Expo will be located at Fiera de Madrid and will cover screen, digital and textile printing and will be colocated with European Sign Expo.

12

Roz Guarnori, Exhibitions Director, FESPA, commented, “After three successive years in Germany, we are looking forward to moving back to a Southern European host city in 2020. Madrid was a clear favourite

among exhibitors and visitors when we canvased their opinions on preferred cities for a FESPA event. This enthusiasm for the host city, combined with the success of the FESPA Digital event in Barcelona in 2012, makes us confident of delivering a compelling event in Spain in 2020.” The Spanish capital is the third largest city in the European Union and offers excellent international air links, with Madrid-Barajas Adolfo

Suárez Airport located just 12 kilometres from Madrid city centre and in close proximity from the exhibition centre. “Spain features strongly among the leaderboard of visitors to FESPA Global Print Expo events and we have strong support from our national Associations in Spain, Portugal, France and Italy. These Associations collaborate annually to deliver a Southern European Congress, the next edition of which takes place in Lisbon, Portugal in June 2018.

Diving deeper into the growth trends in the wide format print market, visitors took advantage of free educational seminars in the FESPA 2018 Trend Theatre, hall 3.1 – lower level. This year’s content-rich programme was founded on independent research into the key industry growth trends: Signage, digital textile, printed interior décor, digi-

tal print for packaging and industrial printing. There were also a number of exhibitor-hosted sessions.

FESPA Print Census 2018

During the event, FESPA shared the headline findings from its Print Census 2018, through daily Trend Theatre briefings, hosted by Ron Gilboa of Keypoint Intelligence. He examined the main trends, focusing on how these have changed since the last Print Census in 2015 and what these findings mean for FESPA’s global print community. FESPA Exhibitions Director, Roz Guarnori commented: “We’re delighted to welcome our global print and sign-making community to Berlin this week. Ever since we announced our return to Berlin for 2018, we’ve had a great reaction from exhibitors, resulting in a record event for both FESPA and European Sign Expo. Product innovation is always high on the agenda at FESPA events. Combined with our expanded programme of educational features and the up-to-date market intelligence we’re sharing throughout the show, visitors will be empowered to make sound investment choices and create new revenue streams for their businesses.”

Agfa Graphics Launches the Jeti Tauro H3300 LED at FESPA 2018 For FESPA 2018, Agfa Graphics has made a bold move with an immersive booth concept that uses virtual reality and interactive sensory experiences. This is to introduce its nextgeneration inkjet printing solutions. The true stars of the Agfa Graphics booth will be a large array of printed samples that perfectly illustrate what print service providers can achieve with Agfa Graphics’ technology: Extreme Productivity. Extreme Quality. At the same time, Agfa Graphics has launched its latest UV LED inkjet hybrid workhorse: the Jeti Tauro H3300 LED. This latest masterpiece of Agfa engineering embodies the extreme new standard in printing productivity and quality. Agfa Graphics’ booth at Fespa is always a sight to see, but this year, the graphics industry supplier is taking it to the next level. “We believe that showing the engines themselves is not necessary to exhibit the potential of our printing solutions,” explains Kristof Van Cleemput, Global Communications Manager at Agfa Graphics. “We are confident that our machines can tackle all requests a customer may have, which is why we put a multitude of high-quality, real-life printed applications at the centre of attention. They demonstrate the unique potential of our products and will both educate and inspire print service providers that want to make high-impact impressions on their clients. Visitors will be able to see our latest machines, including the brand-new Jeti Tauro H3300 LED, in a virtual operational environment using touchscreens and virtual reality glasses.”

The Jeti Tauro’s image vividness is created to last, even when subjected to harsh outdoor weather conditions. Due to the high pigment load of Agfa-made inks and Asanti’s ink saving algorithms, ink consumption per square meter is the lowest on the market. The result is an ideal balance between quality, productivity and cost of ownership. “Among other benefits, LEDs are durable – they generate consistent light output throughout their lifespans of about 10,000 hours,” says Reinhilde Alaert. “Also, the Agfa-developed and manufactured UV-curable inks match perfectly with the spectral emission of Tauro’s LED lamps. This guarantees deep instant curing and delivers dry output, outstanding adhesion on a

broad media range, good scratch resistance, perfect colour stability, and so on. The fact that the Jeti Tauro H3300 LED relies fully on this technology is truly unique – it’s one of the engine’s many strong suits. Not only that, this hybrid UV inkjet workhorse is capable of producing visually stunning prints on media up to 3.3 m wide at speeds up to 453 m²/h, able to keep going 24/7 and convertible to enable different degrees of automation. It truly is one of a kind.” Agfa’s printing solutions stand out because of their use of speciallyformulated UV LED inks, which are suitable for a wide variety of rigid and flexible substrates. In combination with the company’s Asanti workflow and colour management software, these inks produce award-winning prints with the largest colour gamut and superior adhesion and durability. In addition, Agfa Graphics’ patented Thin Ink Layer technology guarantees the lowest ink consumption per square meter on the market, thanks to the inks’ high pigment load, and the unique colour management capabilities of Asanti. This supreme level of quality, combined with the stellar productivity that results from a combination of highspeed printing with a range of automation options, is at the core of Agfa Graphics’ EXTREME campaign, which is reflected in its slogan: ‘Extreme Productivity. Extreme Quality.’ All of these benefits are embodied by Agfa’s latest pride and joy, the Jeti Tauro H3300 LED.

ME Printer June 2018

Building on the successes of the Jeti Tauro H2500 LED, Agfa Graphics launches the even bigger, sturdier and faster Jeti Tauro H3300 LED – an engine which guarantees both smooth, detailed results and rapid UV LED curing. The Jeti Tauro H3300 LED truly embodies the EXTREME campaign: choosing between quality and productivity is a thing of the past. In addition, it excels at combining award-winning image quality with low ink consumption.

“Those who opt for automation will have fully automated multi-board loading and unloading up to four boards, reducing idle time and increasing production efficiency even more,” explains Reinhilde Alaert, Marketing Product Manager of Sign & Display at Agfa Graphics. “Its extreme speed becomes even more apparent in the roll-to-roll version, which is capable of handling heavy master rolls in single or dual-roll mode for a wide variety of flexible media. With the Jeti Tauro H3300 LED, we can offer the highest possible level of both quality and productivity, thanks to a brand-new vacuum table and Agfa-patented vacuum belt design that keep print media perfectly flat under the print shuttle, guaranteeing precise dot positioning and accurate media transport.”

16

The Middle East market is a large market for us especially for speciality films for packaging, lamination and labelling applications. Our increased engagements with brands, flexible packaging converters and channel partners have helped us to further grow our speciality films sales in this market.

What sort of products and solutions do you offer on the market?

Pankaj Poddar: Cosmo Films has the widest portfolio of BOPP and CPP

based speciality flexible films for packaging, lamination and labelling segments. We are continuously innovating new products and their unique applications to stand out in the market. As an example, we recently introduced conduction retort lidding film for flavoured milk, juices, and so on, as well as the universal lidding film which can seal with any plastic material such as food trays, jams, sauces, butter, and so on. On the lamination side, we have come up with black velvet film for premium lamination and in packaging, we have developed ultra-high barrier film as well as heat resistant BOPP film to replace polyester in reversely printed films. Some of our speciality products include high barrier films, overwrap films, velvet and black velvet thermal lamination films, scuff free and digital lamination films, PSA label face stock films, direct thermal printable films and synthetic paper. We are also committed to creating value for our customers, collaborating with them on projects, offering them research-oriented products and cost management.

Let us look at some of our speciality products in more detail: Ultra High Barrier Films: Transparent Films: These films are used in varied applications and include Aroma Barrier Films for coffee/tea and spices packaging; High Oxygen Barrier Films for biscuits packaging and High Oxygen and Aroma Barrier Films for ready to eat pack applications etc. Metalized Films: It comprises of High Moisture Barrier Films for sandwich lamination in shampoo sachets, dry milk powder and powdered drinks sachets/packs where loss of moisture is a concern. It also includes High Moisture Barrier with high seal strength films for bulk packs needing moisture barrier and Ultra High Barrier films for

foods with fatty contents such as dry fruits, chips, cream biscuits packs, and so on. Velvet Lamination Films: As the name suggests, these are thermal lamination films offering velvety touch and feel and intense black colour along with rich velvet finish to the printed surface respectively. Apart from the soft and velvety touch and feel, these films give excellent scuff resistance and are suitable for UV spot lamination and foil stamping as well. Engineered on special matte base films, these films not only protect the printed surface but also enhance the aesthetics. PSA Label Face Stock Films: Available in transparent, white and metalised variants, label stock films are used by the majority of the home care and personal care products around the globe for their self-adhesive label needs. These films also find usage in imparting functional and aesthetic appeal in beverage and pharmaceutical products. All the films meant for label face stock are Universal Printable films; which means that they can deliver superior print performance across diverse printing processes which include UV, flexography, gravure, letterpress and offset. The films are also compatible with all ink-based systems, such as UV, water-based, and solvent. Synthetic Paper: It is a replacement of paper in applications where durability and longevity are desired. It is non-tearable, has moisture and chemical resistance and excellent lay flatness. It is printable with most available printing technologies which include wet and UV offset, wet and UV flexo, letterpress, screen, thermal transfer and most of the digital toner technologies. The versatility of synthetic paper is reflected in the vast number of applications where it can be used. This includes areas such as

Our BOPP films have a huge potential to fulfil these unmet needs of the industry. Future growth for BOPP is expected to come as more and more brands replace heterogeneous laminate structures mostly involving PET and PE, with a BOPP-BOPP homogeneous laminate structure for easy recyclability. Another major area of growth would be BOPP based high barrier films to replace Alu Foils and other complicated laminate structures.

What sort of trends have you seen on the regional market when it comes to packaging, labelling and related industrial applications?

commercial printing, tags and labels, retail and packaging, identification and credentials and outdoors. Today it is used primarily for printing visiting and ID cards, garment tags and marketing collaterals such as posters, banners, and so on. Going forward, all important documents like medical reports, educational certificates and land documents and instruction manuals could be printed on synthetic paper. Another important application of synthetic paper could be children and recipe books. Stationary items where longevity is essential such as maps, flip charts, and calendars could also be printed on this paper.

Tell us about your synthetic paper line?

What is the USP of synthetic papers over natural papers?

Anuj Kapoor: When you do a job through offset, usually in order for it

Do you work directly with your clients or through channel partners?

Pankaj Poddar: We work both ways depending on the market demands. For packaging films, the requirements are volumetric and hence the direct approach to customers is preferred. In case of lamination film, we generally work through our channel partners as the customer base is large.

How big is the packaging market in the MEA region and how do Cosmo Films’ products add value?

Pankaj Poddar: The packaging market is significant in the MEA region and is growing at 5.5 percent CAGR. We are confident of further enhancing it through our innovative products and offering a wide range of speciality products for various packaging applications. The packaging industry is constantly looking for solutions in the areas of the enhanced shelf life of the product and sustainability.

Do you plan to participate or conduct any events in the MEA region?

Pankaj Poddar: We keep evaluating the events and exhibitions related to packaging, lamination and label industries in the region. If we find something relevant, we would definitely participate.

What milestones does Cosmo Films plan to achieve this year?

Pankaj Poddar: We have already made an announcement for setting up of a speciality BOPET line expected to be installed by end of the calendar year 2019. This is our first foray into PETbased products and will come with an investment of USD 55 million. As far as medium to long-term targets are concerned, we do keep a look out for expanding in related areas of growth and have already announced acquisitions of 34 acres of land in Aurangabad, Maharashtra and 11 acres land in Karjan, Gujarat close to our existing plants with expansion on our mind.

ME Printer June 2018

Anuj Kapoor: We offer three types of synthetic papers, based on the printing technology in use. These include synthetic papers for offset, flexo, and digital. We are certified by ISO and we offer top-notch quality products on the market. I am visiting the UAE to engage with more and more customers. We do not have any exclusive distributors in the region, but we do work with some distributors on a need basis. We are already in talks with a distributor to cover this region.

to be non-tearable, you add adhesives and laminate it. With Synthetic papers, you just print on the papers – the papers already come with adhesives and lamination film on top of it. So you eliminate the cost of adhesives, film, manpower and machine. Our synthetic papers can be used for all sorts of printing such as offset, UV offset, flexo, UV flexo, Thermal Transfer, and so on. It is environment-friendly and is also recyclable.

Pankaj Poddar: Some of the trends we have seen in the market include: Need for enhanced shelf life requirements for food packaging Need for lightweight packaging to reduce cost and waste Need to shift from wet lamination to thermal lamination Need for luxury packaging to offer rich aesthetics to the products Need for films replacing paper in the pressure sensitive label industry for aesthetics and longevity Shift from paper to synthetic paper for longevity Need for a homogeneous laminate structure in view of sustainability

Interviews

Agfa to Continue its Focus on Innovation and Quality this Year ME Printer speaks to Som John, the General Manager and Director at Agfa about his company’s plans for 2018 Our products are much better in terms of build quality, features, and performance. But to provide more value to the market, we are planning to come up with some promotional prices for some of our machines. And after we prove on the market that our machines are top notch, we may go back to the same pricing strategy. The promotions will be for the entire Middle East region.

Which products will you be launching on the market this year?

How was 2017 for the company and what do you expect from 2018?

The year 2017 was an average year for us in terms of sales and business achievement. It was a year in which everyone was anxious to see what would happen in 2018, especially with the introduction of the VAT. Sales was a bit stagnant. The year 2018, however, started very differently. We started with a good note. We launched a wide range of printers on the market. We launched the Anapurna H1650i 1.65mm wide Hybrid UV LED machine for the sign and display professionals. During SGI, we also spoke about the new machine. Our prices are usually on a higher side and hence our machines cannot be compared with inferior-quality machines available on the market.

ME Printer June 2018

Is there a great influence of Chinese products on the market?

18

The market is definitely influenced by Chinese products and the market has also become very price sensitive now. This trend actually started in other Asian markets such as India and Pakistan, 2-3 years ago when everyone was talking about Chinese products and their prices. Now that is moving slowly into this market as well.

In 2018, at the Shanghai Show, we launched a new printer called Tacana 3.2 meter roll to roll machine. The main purpose was to compete with other such machines on the market. This is an economical printer because the investment from the companies will be on the lower side. We are glad that people at the event liked the machine and there were a number of enquiries about the machine. We installed a high-end roll-to-roll LED machine this year called Agfa Jeti Ceres 3200, which is a 3.2-meter machine. This is for big volume productions and is priced at around $200,000. We have introduced some promotions on the machine in line with FESPA. We also launched a textile machine at SGI, which was originally showcased at the Shanghai Show, called Avinci DX3200. The Avinci DX3200 dye-sublimation printer is designed primarily for the soft signage market. The 3.2m-wide machine enables users to create large-format soft signage prints at 1,440x540dpi. At FESPA 2018, Agfa Graphics will be launching the Jeti Tauro H3300 printer. With these machines, we plan to capture a good market share this year.

I believe your strategy for launching products in various markets is very different?

Correct. Out strategy with our products is very different. We usually launch the products in one market and then install

it at one of the customers’ facilities. We then wait for the feedback from the market about the product, about the quality, reliability, and durability of the machine. Once we are satisfied with the outcome, we announced the machines in other global markets.

Which markets in the region do you currently focus on?

Our Dubai office handles the entire Middle East and Africa region and all the SAARC countries. We are targeting all these markets – Saudi is one of the biggest markets for us in the MEA region. Other markets have also started responding nicely, such as UAE, Bahrain, and Kuwait. In Africa, French-speaking Africa is more supportive, since Agfa is a European company. We have also had some installations in Kenya such as the Jeti Ceres. Congo and Uganda are also responding pretty well. We recently signed up a new partnership in Pakistan with GSS Grapholine. In Dubai, we have tied up with Grapholine for the textile machines in the Middle East region.

What sort of trends is evolving in the inkjet industry especially?

The technology has kept on improving in the inkjet market, especially in the quality and the technology of print heads. Our printheads are mostly those from Konica Minolta in the Anapurna range. On our Jeti range, we use Ricoh Gen 5 heads. Many companies have started to use Kyocera heads also, especially in the Chinese machines. We will be participating in most exhibitions this year. We are planning some red carpet events in June this year at our headquarters in Belgium. We will be inviting all our VIP clients and partners to Belgium to our state-of-the-art demo centre, where they will be able to see, feel, and experience our entire product range.

Innovative Packaging is Very Important to Catch a Shopper’s Eye ME Printer speaks to Ashwani Sharma, the President and CEO for New Business Initiatives at UFlex, about the latest trends in the packaging industry Why did UFlex participate at Beauty World?

This is not the first time we participated at Beauty World. This is possibly our fourth participation at the event. We have been here quite consistently to meet our target customers and show off our innovative products. The event allows us to meet customers from GCC, South East Asia, Europe, and so on. This event makes a lot of sense for out flex tube division and what we do is high-end tubes. And I can assure you that we will be here at least for the next 7 years as I can see.

Tell us about your presence in the Middle East region.

UFlex is the largest flexible packaging company in India, we are totally backward integrated. We do polyester chips, films, polymers, and so on. We have film factories in India, USA, Mexico, Poland, Egypt, and UAE. We also do lots of activities that are related to packaging, such as tubes, laminates, and so on. We also sell these laminates to brands such as Nestle, Coke, Pepsi, Cadburys, P&G, and so on. From films to laminates, to tubes, inks and adhesives, holographic films, products with security and anti-counterfeit features, cylinders, so on, we are there. We offer all these peripherals to convert packaging. We also do machines – various kinds of filling machines. The company was established in 1985 and we have grown very fast – from nowhere to a $1B is what we have been able to achieve.

Do you have any customers in the region?

What sort of trends have you seen in the packaging industry?

How I see future is that the game is already changing. Most of the companies are realizing it now. Their efforts to cut costs, to down gauge, is resulting in something which is a rat race. Product innovation is losing its sanctity. With us coming into the picture, companies have been able to offer something unique. The quality of the product on the store shelf is certainly important. But what attracts the customer in an instance, is the overall packaging and design of the product. Almost 90 percent of the time, a customer picks up a product because of its design and packaging. And once they do that, you have already succeeded in invoking the curiosity

about your product, which will most probably end up with the customer actually buying your product.

What sort of milestones do you plan to achieve this year?

We have grown every year because we come up with unique innovations. Last year, we came up with the holographic tubes. This year, we have launched our range called Optika Transparent FlexiTube, which will create a revolution in the global cosmetic and pharmacy arena. Optika is focused on products such as shampoos, cosmetics, body washes, and so on – anything that is sold in a see-through tube. It is a see-through technology which can be included in a flexible tube, with the printing on the inside. This makes the products very attractive to shoppers. We will continue to innovate in the years to come.

ME Printer June 2018

In terms of our flexible tube business, we work with Sterling Parfums and European Perfumes. We went global just three years ago. The first time when we came to Beauty World, we came to just test the waters. We then wanted to show off our innovative products on the market. What we do cannot be manufactured by anybody else in the

world. That has helped us to grow at a rate of 100% in the last 12 months.

Interviews

The Government in GCC is Driving the Digital Change ME Printer speaks to Pauline Brooks, the Marketing Development Manager for the Marketing Division UAE at Konica Minolta, and Alexey Lukyanchuk, the Business Development Specialist PP&IP CAMEA at Konica Minolta, about the print-on-demand market in the Middle East Does your company offer Print-on-Demand Solutions?

Konica Minolta World Wide has a wide range of Print on Demand Solutions, that are always available in our portfolio. Here in the Middle East the demand is not particularly high, varying significantly from region to region and depending on the development of local business and technologies.

What solutions / services come under Print-on-Demand Solutions?

Konica Minolta offers a range of digital printing equipment and solutions, fitting the requirements of small to medium digital printers. In this segment we would propose the Konica Minolta print controller which offers unique color control and technologies, giving customers modern, cost-effective and high-quality printing solutions. Other services that use POD solutions to their advantage are, Digital marketing, Variable data printing services such as Direct Mail, Print on demand webbased books and reports.

Is the Middle East region big on Print-on-Demand solutions?

The region is not particularly focused on print on demand solutions, however some of the main markets such as government, Oil and the airline industry, are using digital technology and solutions to remain competitive.

ME Printer June 2018

On demand enterprises in the region differ in size and productivity, many of the smaller companies usually propose a relatively narrow range of products and solutions.

20

However, there are large enterprise accounts in Dubai, that offer expertise in digital printing and are able to produce all digital pre-press work from manuscripts or pre-printed samples with very high quality in short turnaround time.

Which markets and industry verticals according to you are the most upcoming in adopting such solutions?

As for digital print in general, the government here in the GCC region is really driving the digital change in all areas of industry, which in turn is adopting the solutions available. Digital book printing is growing, with the development of other technologies like Web-to-Print W2P, workflow management and Internet in general. Business-oriented application areas such as in-house print or CRD copying and reproduction departments are the most quickly growing business-oriented areas. This area is influenced by the trend to decrease human intervention in print production, where Konica Minolta can propose valuable solutions for machine set-up in color printing enterprises.

What’s in it for companies that offer such solutions on the market?

Companies that offer POD are able to offer their customers an easier life by automating their workflow, eliminating lengthy pre – press set up as well as saving on unwanted printing and publications, firms can save on storage space and reduce overheads as well as running costs. Also, it is possible when buying printing engines and other hardware to offer job submission, workflow management and W2P specially adjusted for use with the vendor’s equipment, providing guaranteed seamless operation. Such a complex solution increases customers’ attraction.

What are the advantages of offering such solutions?

Print on demand POD is an ideal way to address increasing demand for short runs, web integration plus a host of other challenges. A PoD workflow solution streamlines common workflow tasks, helps medium to high-volume print-on-demand environments increase their job volume, decreases turnaround

times and maximize their equipment investment. It allows the user to manage jobs faster and more efficiently whilst maximizing productivity at busy periods. More hardware-oriented topics would be, ease of use of both hardware and software, higher print quality at more affordable price, more WYSIWIG interfaces, good choice of workflow solutions, including both W2P and internal workflow management.

What are the challenges in offering such solutions?

In many cases the solution for PoD should be customized for specific customer print houses, as the spectrum of demands is quite wide depending very much on the company’s internal structure, experience, existing solutions and product range. However, we also have to pay detailed attention to each customer’s needs as every case is unique with regards to the complexity of initial operational period, the biggest headache been startups, when sometimes little or no experience is available and poor developed business plans are submitted. In some such cases, we should take into account that a learning curve is required. One of the most challenging trends is the increasing competition in this area, which demands detailed consideration of pricing policy, regarding both equipment, parts and support costs.

How can these challenges be overcome?

The PoD area is very specific and requires special attention from the local distributor or company selling the solution. This is not a large issue for companies who are professional in the Graphic Arts market. Konica Minolta can propose a wide range of light and mid-level digital print engines and own technologies; however, the biggest issue is the experience of both the sales staff, service and support departments, as this base supports the direction of the customer’s business.

Women in Print

We had 10.000 children from 205 schools writing a story or a poem or making a drawing covering the subject Space. The winners of the drawing and writing contest where gathered in a book that we published and the book was brought to life using Augmented Reality. You should have seen the faces of the children when they saw the AR. The books where distributed to the school libraries and the children. for more information or to download the little book of anything space: https:// storycontest.konicaminolta.eu/ What’s next for you in terms of your career in the printing industry? For now, I’m happy where I am. We still have a lot of work to do, building the brand awareness and finding more distributors in our area. But most of all enlarging our Konica Minolta market share. I look forward to the new and innovative products and developments that Konica Minolta will be launching in the near future and in order to keep up with all the current and new developments I have started studying again. Just so, I keep up with new developments in the marketing sector. You are never too old to learn and once you stop learning that is it, time to retire.

Primera Intros LX910e Colour Label Printer Primera Technology has announced LX910e, its newest desktop colour label printer. LX910e is Primera’s fastest-ever desktop colour label printer. It can handle labels as wide as 8 and as small as 0.75.

Compared to other printers that are comparably priced, LX910e has a number of distinct advantages:

This latest addition can print a 4x 3 label with 50% coverage in less than 6 seconds. In addition, ink costs are the lowest ever from Primera. This is due to a new, ultra-high capacity ink cartridge.

Print Quality: horizontal banding is a common problem with many lower-cost desktop colour label printers. Not so on LX910e. Banding is virtually eliminated – even on the faster print speeds.

On the same 4 x 3 label, cost per label is around $0.03 USD each.

Interchangeable Dye or Pigment Inks: with a simple swap-out of ink cartridges, LX910e can print with dye-based ink for brilliant, eyepopping colour. Or, choose pigment ink for maximum durability against water and UV light. Both types of ink work interchangeably on the same printer.

Typical applications include product labels for coffee, wine, water, bakery, confectionery, meat, cheese and hundreds of other speciality and gourmet foods. The printer is also ideal for manufacturing, laboratory, security, government, retail, and a wide variety of other markets.

Print Speed: best-in-class throughput at up to 4.5 per second.

Single Ink SKU: LX910e utilizes an all-new, ultra-high capacity single

CMY ink tank. You’ll only need to replace and keep on-hand one ink tank instead of two or four. This keeps your inventory simple and makes ink swaps fast and easy. Process black is dark and crisp. Best of all, process black uses no more ink than a separate black ink tank would for printing the same amount of text or graphics. Low Maintenance: Gone are the days of clogged nozzles, and unwieldy and expensive print head replacements. Users get a brand new print head each time they change the cartridge, simplifying maintenance and dramatically lowering on-going operating costs. Metal Case: instead of a cheaper plastic case that can break, LX910e has a tough, steel case with industrial-grade power-coated paint. The LX910e sells for $2695.00.

Clariant Launches Humitector Type 2 Non-Reversible Humidity Indicator Cards

Clariant, a leading provider of speciality chemicals, and its Cargo & Device Protection unit have introduced an industry-first innovation to better ensure that the integrity of dry packing that protects moisture-sensitive devices has not been compromised by high humidity at any time during shipment or storage. The new Humitector Type 2 NonReversible Humidity Indicator Cards are low-halogen and free of cobalt dichloride, a substance of concern to the European Chemical Bureau.

They provide verifiable colour change accuracy and meet or exceed applicable European Chemical Bureau regulations. The

“Clariant developed Humitector Type 2 non-reversible humidity indicator cards because surfacemount suppliers and device manufacturers said that they wanted greater assurance in the integrity of dry packs for moisture-sensitive devices,” said Michelle Martin, Head of Clariant Cargo & Device Protection, North America.

tive packages governed by the J-STD-033 standard. Typical cards offer only reversible indicators that reflect current dry or humid conditions. If package contents, including the card, are exposed to damaging humidity but then returned to a dry environment before the card is checked, the exposure could go unnoticed as the card reverses back to a dry reading. As a result, surface mounts could enter production even though they may have been compromised by moisture.

“The 60% non-reversible indicator on these new cards makes it easy to see if the package contents have been exposed to high levels of moisture for a prolonged period of time.”

Clariant Cargo & Device Protection offers a complete portfolio of desiccants, container desiccants, oxygen absorbers, and humidity indicator solutions to help protect goods from moisture and oxygen through the entire supply chain.

Until now, users of moisturesensitive, reflowable surface mount devices have had little choice in the humidity indicator cards required for use in protec-

Solutions are available through a global sales network with worldwide manufacturing sites in Brazil, Indonesia, Turkey, United States, and China.

The new Humitector cards are the only low-halogen cobalt dichloride-free humidity indicator cards to combine multiple, reversible colour humidity indicators with an industry first: a patent-pending, non-reversible 60% humidity indicator.

new cards have been approved for use by the Joint Electron Device Engineering Council JEDEC in the latest revisions to IPC/JEDEC J-STD-033 J-STD-033D – the dry packing standard for surface mount devices.

Don’t Miss These 3 Critical Steps When Conducting Market Research

ME Printer June 2018

In order to make informed, datadriven business decisions, you need quality market research. Market research is essential for all types of businesses in different stages of growth. Large multinational corporations regularly use market research to guide strategic planning, identify attractive markets, and develop new products.

26

Market research is also useful for start-ups looking to create robust business plans and validate their strategies for potential investors. Conducting market research can help entrepreneurs and business professionals quantify the size of a market, identify key trends, and understand their target consumers from a more objective perspective. But whether you are well-versed in various market research methods, or have zero training in how to do market analysis,

you can find the industry information you need — and save valuable time and money — if you use the right strategic approach. When you need to conduct market research, follow these three steps to improve your overall results.

Seek Out Quality Industry Data

If you are researching a specific market, you may be surprised by how little vetted industry analysis is available online. In addition, the information you find online may be false or misleading, or it may be taken out of context. Incorporating faulty information into your business plans can lead to missed opportunities or big losses; therefore, obtaining reliable data is critical for your long-term success. Because of the common pitfalls associated with information

gathered online, experienced researchers know to look well beyond Google in their hunt for useful intelligence. A former research analyst at Hewlett Packard, Cindy Reifsnider serves as the Director of Research Services & Knowledge Management at the Frank Hawkins Kenan Institute of Private Enterprise at the University of North Carolina. When she teaches about market research, she underscores the importance of relying on credible sources and “not just using Google.” She believes you can find better content and more relevant content faster by using market research from multiple, big-name firms. How do you know if a research firm is credible? If their studies appear in respected trade journals and publications such as the The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, or The Economist,

chances are they have been vetted as authoritative. You can also ask research specialists at MarketResearch.com for their opinions about a publisher’s reputation.

Partner with Experts in Market Research Analysis

To fast-track your results and obtain solid industry analysis, delegate time-consuming tasks to experienced researchers and benefit from their knowledge and experience. Before you spend hours scrolling through one questionable search engine result after another to cobble together a report that may or may not end up being reality-based, consider calling your trusted market research expert first. Look for comprehensive reports that include: Market size and segmentation Sales drivers forecasts

and

growth

Competitive market share New product and technology trends Consumer profiles and buyer behavior Strategic insights and growth opportunities Company profiles and SWOT analyses Finding the right report doesn’t have to be a struggle. Most research specialists are familiar with hundreds of market research publishers; they know what their reputations and specialties are, and they can open a report to confirm the presence of key information. This takes much of the guesswork out of the process. Research specialists can also provide you with sample pages and ask publishers direct questions to confirm the reports are a good fit for you. What’s more, they know about many different discounts that are not publicly

advertised and can help you find the best deal.

Consider Your LongTerm Research Needs

The cost of individual reports can quickly add up, and the process of getting approvals and obtaining research may be cumbersome within your organization. To reduce costs and cut down on red tape, look into market research solutions that will address your market research needs over the long run. Don’t just think about what research you need this week or this month; consider what research you and your team need over the course of the entire year. If your organization needs ongoing research about a specific industry, a Knowledge Center subscription can provide you with company-wide access to an entire catalog of industry-specific market research reports at one fixed cost, providing you with a predictable budget and reliable coverage from a vetted source.

E-Commerce to be a $20 Billion Market for Corrugated The corrugated packaging market will get a boost from e-commerce through to 2023. According to a new study by Smithers Pira, The Future of Corrugated Packaging to 2023, the corrugated packaging market is worth a value of $245

billion, and is forecasted to be worth $300 billion in 2023. A major key driver of this growth is expected to be e-commerce. The report stipulated that the overall market for e-commerce packaging will grow rapidly in the coming years, expanding at a

compound annual growth rate of 14.3% from 2017 through to 2022. As e-commerce grows, so will the use of corrugated board as a packaging medium. The report estimated that upwards of $20 billion worth of corrugated materials are used in this sector as a whole. This growth will see e-commerce packaging, including corrugated packaging, as well as flexible packaging, and protective and transit packaging, reaching almost $55 billion in 2022.

ME Printer June 2018

This growth rate compares to an overall growth rate for the packaging industry of 2.9% in 2017-22. Industries that are using e-commerce include consumer electronics, books and media products, fashion, and toys, hobby, and sports equipment.

Large-Scale and Sustainable 3D Printing with Cellulose The cost of FLAM is in the range of commodity plastics and 10 times lower than the cost of common filaments for 3D printing, such as PLA polylactic acid and ABS Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene, making it not only more sustainable but also a more costeffective substitute. The researchers have furthermore developed an additive manufacturing technique specific for the material. Cellulose is one of the most abundant and broadly distributed organic compound and industrial by-product on Earth. Yet, despite decades of extensive research, the bottom-up use of cellulose to fabricate 3D objects is still plagued with problems that restrict its practical applications: derivatives with vast polluting effects, used in combination with plastics, lack of scalability and high production cost.

ME Printer June 2018

However, researchers from the Singapore University of Technology and Design SUTD have recently demonstrated the use of cellulose to sustainably manufacture/fabricate large 3D objects. Their approach diverges from the common association of cellulose with green plants and is inspired by the wall of the fungus-like oomycetes, which is reproduced introducing small amounts of chitin between cellulose fibers. The resulting fungal-like adhesive materials FLAM are strong, lightweight and inexpensive, and can be molded or processed using woodworking techniques.

28

This material is completely ecologically sustainable as no organic solvents or synthetic plastics were used to manufacture it. It is scalable and can be reproduced anywhere without specialised facilities. FLAM is also fully biodegradable in natural conditions and outside composting facilities.

Co-lead of this research, SUTD Assistant Prof Javier Gomez Fernandez, also known for the development of Shrilk said: "We believe this first large-scale additive manufacturing process with the most ubiquitous biological polymers on earth will be the catalyst for the transition to environmentally benign and circular manufacturing models, where materials are produced, used, and degraded in closed regional systems. This reproduction and manufacturing with the material composition found in the oomycete wall, namely unmodified cellulose, small amounts of chitosan -- the second most abundant organic molecule on earth -- and low concentrated acetic acid, is probably one of the most successful technological achievements in the field of bioinspired materials."

Co-lead SUTD Assistant Prof Stylianos Dritsas, added: "We believe the results reported here represent a turning point for global manufacturing with broader impact on multiple areas ranging from material science, environmental engineering, automation and the economy. So far we have been focusing on fundamental technology development, and little time has been invested in specific target applications. We are now at the stage of seeking industrial collaborators to bring this technology from the laboratory to the world." With the increase in waste and pollution, the urgency for more sustainable manufacturing processes is growing. The establishment of a technology based on unmodified compostable polymers of great abundance that does not require cropland or forest resources, will foster the transition to environmentally benign manufacturing and a sustainable society.

drupa Survey Reveals Global Inkjet Impact The survey was done across 300 participants - 203 printers and 99 suppliers. Participants reported strong growth in all sectors; but the more specialised the market, the higher the growth rate. Participants were enthusiastic regarding inkjet opportunities, while understanding its limitations. Most were still working out how best to exploit inkjet technology. The survey showed balanced sentiments all over the world, with virtually no regional variation. Equally, there was a close alignment in views from printers and suppliers. In terms of applications, printers are finding competitive opportunities for inkjet in all market segments. Printers are also finding they can apply inkjet in multiple markets, creating the opportunity to enter new markets not in their traditional core sector. It was clear that some formats are better suited to particular markets. Though rollfed was the favourite in most

markets, B2 sheetfed was also a popular choice. This was despite the comparatively modest worldwide sales of B2 inkjets so far, compared to liquid toner B2 presses that arrived on the market around the same time. For many, the cost of inks remains the core issue restraining growth. It is important to put the development of inkjet by suppliers in perspective. 46% of suppliers reported that inkjet represented less than 10% of

total turnover as yet. Clearly some specialise in inkjet, while others offer inkjet as one of a range of processes e.g. digital toner or conventional offset/flexo. However, almost all suppliers are investing heavily in the technology with significant research and development funding. For printers investing in inkjet, the main consideration when choosing a supplier is the level of service support, followed by the price of the complete commercial package.

Higher quality inkjet for both cutsheet and rollfed has arrived and is bringing digital print to a broader range of applications across all market sectors.”

ME Printer June 2018

“The key question for anyone considering the purchase of inkjet print technology is that it needs to be the right fit for the desired applications,” said Sabine Geldermann, director drupa, Messe Duesseldorf. “Marketchanging process improvements can only be achieved when the technology provides the desired running cost, productivity levels, print requirements, size, substrate suitability, and workflow automation tools,” said Geldermann. “New advanced inkjet systems have brought the disruptive capability of inkjet to a new level.
