QUICK UNVEILS INTEGRATED STABILISATION SYSTEM

New Code Zero furler

8 The CXe45 runs on SEL-Bus and a Power Supply Unit

Nautical equipment supplier Quick has taken the first steps on a novel path with the launch of a new stabilisation system at METSTRADE 2022 The MC² Seacentric System includes anti-roll fin stabiliser Viator, interceptor trim tab Intercepta and the well-known Quick Gyro antiroll gyroscopic stabiliser which hit the market in 2017. All three are efficient products in stand-alone mode but, if installed together, can revolutionise the way of experiencing the sea, says the company. “For the first time in the international marine scenario, a sole industry designs and produces gyro stabilisers, fins and interceptors which are extremely performing in stand-alone mode but even more performing if combined together on the same boat, optimising the different dynamic responses of the systems for a revolutionary stabilisation concept,” explained Michele Marzucco, chief executive at Quick. the vessel’s roll, supported by the Viator fins, and by the Intercepta which stabilises the pitch. It is this integration that is said to lead to more effective stabilisation along with optimisation of the boat’s steering and fuel consumption. Viator carbon fins are controlled by a unit that analyses and predicts the dynamics of the boat, in order to modify the stabilisation algorithms to adapt them to different situations. The fins are powered by compact and silent synchronous electric motors assembled without a shaft for minimising impact with debris or rocks. With a design which has been optimised using a fluid dynamics simulation, the range comprises five models for boats from 50 to 145ft – VT700, VT900, VT1200, VT1700 and VT2000. Intercepta is a ‘plug & play’ system which predicts the dynamics of the boat to coordinate the movement of the trim tab based on sea and navigation conditions. Powered by a 10-30V motor

and engineered with an integrated electric actuator, the range includes five

Swedish mast and deck hardware manufacturer, Seldén Mast has expanded its range of electronically driven sail handling products with the launch of the CXe45. Designed for yachts in the 45-55ft range, the CXe45 is a two-speed electric Code Zero furler controlled with the push of a button. It can be integrated into a bow or bowsprit with a through-deck installation or, attached to a pad-eye, it can be used as an ondeck unit. “The furling Code 0 was originally developed for long distance racing but is now a given addition to a cruising sailor’s headsail wardrobe,” explains MatsUno Fredrikson, Seldén’s director of marketing. “Combine it with a furling jib and you have the ultimate set up from broad reaching to beating upwind, all without leaving the cockpit. Now, with the use of push button control instead of a furling line it becomes even easier and safer.” The CXe45 runs on SEL-Bus and a Power Supply Unit converting 12V or 24V to 42V. SEL-Bus is a can-bus system with software that combines intelligence and power on board to sense and adapt loads for maximum efficiency and safety.
