SIRENS
WHO ARE THE SIRENS? They are very ancient divinities probably of oriental origin with the body of a bird or a fish and the face of beautiful women, they are presented as marine singers living on an island near Scilla and Cariddi, since the same voice of the Sirens and their call brings to a knowledge that starts from the suffering caused by the war between the Argives and the Trojans and extends to everything that happens on earth, which enchanted the sailors who carelessly landed there, causing them to die.
Once the Sirens appeared first as birds with the heads of women and later as women, sometimes winged, with bird legs. The Sirens seem to have evolved. Anthropologists explain the Asian image as a soul-bird, a winged ghost that stole the living to share its fate.
Another version of the myth, sees them sanctioned by Aphrodite for their choice to move away from carnal pleasures, the goddess made them half fish and exiled them to the island of Anthemoessa, indeed are indicated as women in the upper part of the body and fish in the lower part.
TheThe meeting between Ulysses and Circe meeting between Odysseus and Circe The sorceress Circe makes a prophecy to Odysseus about his future encounters with the Sirens and she suggests ways to avoid being bewitched by them, that is, to plug the ears with wax so that they were deaf to the Sirens voice.

THE BEGINNING OF THE ADVENTURE They left from Circe and went into the sea, suddenly the storm arrived, so before the Sirens’ song started they blocked their ears with wax, following the advice of the sorceress Circe. He wanted to hear their voice, so he ordered the sailors to tie him to the mainmast and in case he asked to be untied they had the duty to tie him tighter, but he did not want to lose the opportunity to listen to the mermaids.
DURING THE THE ADVENTURE ADVENTURE DURING While they row with strength and weariness to pass the sirens, the creatures called Ulysses to invite him with them, in fact, it is said that they sang so divinely that only one heard their song and forced jumped into the water, but it is said that his life was saved by Aphrodite. Furthermore, the ability to resist the Sirens causes the creatures to commit suicide.
THE END OF THE ADVENTURE They managed to pass them, and their singing was no longer audible, so they took off the wax and melted the strings.
