Lesley caught this picture of the newly renovated Stardust Marfa neon on the night of the Super Blood Moon, after driving in from shooting a wedding on the other side of Texas, just hours before this year’s Marfa Gallery Guide went to print. That’s the sort of photographer she is and the reason Marfa Gallery Guide loves her so. Learn more about Lesley and her work at: www.marfalite.com. ABOUT THE NEON: The Stardust Motel was closed decades ago and, for many years after, its sign stood on the west end of Marfa, unlit. Until recently, when local hotelier Tim Crowley hired renowned Austin neon artist Evan Voyles to bring the old sign back to life, to the delight of long-term natives and newcomers alike. The neon portion that once read “Motel” has been changed to “Marfa” - a befitting welcome to those entering our magical town perched atop a plateau in the desert, where the stars seem just a little bit closer and the night is dotted with mystery lights.
