Abide 2024 Impact Report

Core Focus
Our Purpose
To empower vulnerable families in Jesus’ name.
Our Niche
To create opportunities that provide hope.
Abide
Mercy House Global exists to empower vulnerable families in Jesus’ name by creating opportunities that provide hope. We get to do this in so many beautiful ways with countless people around the world, focusing primarily on the Bible’s most vulnerable people groups: widows, orphans, and refugees.
“I am the vine, you are the branches. Whoever remains in me and I in him will bear much fruit, because without me you can do nothing. If anyone does not abide in me he is thrown away like a branch and withers; and the branches are gathered, thrown into the fire, and burned. If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.” John 15:5-7
To abide means to stay. It means to continue in the same place for a long time. Faithfulness in a constant direction.
When we abide, God produces fruit. We understand that apart from Him, we can do nothing. But in Him and through Him, anything is possible!
Marginalized people find themselves in vulnerable positions because they have been left behind or pushed to the sides of society.
At Mercy House Global, we stay because God stays with us. We are vulnerable without Him.
Abide is another word for abode. Home.
At Mercy House Global, we house vulnerable people in practical ways—through empowerment by creating opportunities that provide hope.
Sometimes opportunities look like a nutritious meal and a cozy bed, a hard-to-get education, a baby’s full cheeks and belly laugh. Sometimes hope looks like a basket made of sisal or a candle made by an overcomer. It often looks like two together, rather than one alone.

Abiding in Christ connects all of us in the family of God.
For fourteen years, Mercy House Global has created opportunities to keep families together. Together, in this circle, when we provide home for the vulnerable, our homes are changed too.
When we abide in Him.
At Mercy House Global:
We welcome pregnant girls to a second-chance sisterhood home.
We create jobs for the marginalized to work from home.
We empower artisans to make beautiful items for your home.
We welcome refugees to a new country that will become home.
We reintegrate teen moms back to their homes.
We house volunteers, overcomers, and women together.
We connect the circle, and God completes it because He is home.

This year, Mercy House Global has:
• Hosted the 8th annual She Is Priceless fundraiser
• Eliminated branding confusion as a nonprofit
• Slowed down so the organization could operate more efficiently and intentionally
Locally:
• Completed the second full year of English classes for Afghan refugees in Houston and began year three with record enrollment in partnership with a local church

Globally:
• Welcomed an additional seven new pregnant residents in twelve months at Rehema House in Kenya, bringing the total to 84 residents
• Celebrated our 83rd miracle birth at Rehema House
• Provided steady opportunities that created hope for artisans
• Guided Rehema House in the first steps of long-term sustainability

Slowing Down
This has been a year of intentionally slowing down throughout the organization with a goal to go deeper instead of wider. With a plan to add no new initiatives for the year, Mercy House Global worked to create space for analysis, clarity, reflection, meaningful connections, and a deeper understanding of our purpose for greater impact. We prioritized staff care, book discussions, a new employee assistance program, and deeper community for the overall health of staff and ministry programs. We are excited to continue this growth in the coming years.
Spiritual Formation as a Priority
Spiritual formation is happening to us all the time. We are being formed (or de-formed) by our relationships and environment whether we realize it or not. The workplace is said to be one of the greatest areas in our lives where spiritual formation takes place. God uses workplace challenges to grow and shape us and provides countless opportunities for us to exhibit the Fruit of the Spirit. Spiritual formation refers to the process of growing and deepening one’s spiritual life, often through practices that cultivate a closer relationship with God. This journey involves various aspects, including:
Personal growth: Developing virtues like love, compassion, and humility.
Community: Engaging with others in faith communities to support and challenge one another.
Spiritual practices: Incorporating practices such as prayer, silence and solitude, scripture reading, and worship.
Reflection: Taking time for self-examination and discernment to understand one’s spiritual journey.
Transformation: Allowing spiritual growth to affect one’s values, behaviors, and relationships.
Overall, spiritual formation is about nurturing a holistic relationship with God and living out one’s faith in daily life. It has been a joy to begin the journey by setting apart a designated time for our staff to practice this together.

Growing Partnerships through Program Development
In 2024, Mercy House Global deepened its commitment to local impact through partnerships and will expand its initiatives under Local Hope in 2025. Quarterly Empowerment Lunches for refugees in Houston will grow to include monthly survivor-led events for victims of human trafficking in Harris and Montgomery Counties, made possible through partnerships with like-minded ministries and programs.
The reimagining of the Mercy House Global home office and warehouse at Tamina has opened new opportunities to serve ministry partners, including hosting weekly, survivorled support groups for local organizations.
With a focus on increasing local engagement, Mercy House Global has set an organizational goal to expand partnerships with area churches through Share the Light events and custom opportunities at all locations. The volunteer base continues to grow, and in Fall 2024, Mercy House Global opened Magnolia’s only shoppable fair trade space—a permanent pop-up store in the warehouse—furthering the community’s connection to fair trade advocacy.
Mercy House Global is dedicated to being a lasting resource, service opportunity, advocate, and safe workplace for the vulnerable within the local community.

Local Hope Spotlight
Meet Megan
Megan is the second fulltime employee to join our Local Hope program at our Tamina warehouse in Magnolia, TX. We sat down with her to discuss her experience working at Mercy House Global.
Describe what it’s like working at Mercy House Global and how it is different from previous jobs.
Megan: Working at Mercy House has been such an answer to prayers in so many ways. The culture and climate of the workplace is positive and encouraging. The staff is graceful in their interactions with one another. There is an overall attitude and feeling of empowerment that has made joining the team here feel like I belong here. When challenges arise, I feel supported and heard and valued. I love working for an organization that is truly Kingdom minded.
I really appreciate the way that Leadership at MHG empowers me as an individual. They look at my strengths and encourage me to focus on growing into my potential. They help me identify my weaknesses and help me figure out ways to improve upon them. When I am faced with challenges and concerns, I really feel heard, and resolution is the goal. I love that time is taken out of the work week to focus on things like Spiritual Development and the way that the weekly meetings are structured to be as productive as possible. I love that the staff eat lunch together and build community and relationships.
The mission of MHG is to empower vulnerable families in Jesus’ name with opportunities that provide hope. Do you feel like this mission has impacted your own life in any way? If so, how and what have you learned about yourself in the process?
Megan: As a survivor/overcomer of human trafficking, I have had a few unique challenges that have made finding the right job for me a struggle. While I was searching for the right job for me, I compiled a list of things that I needed/ wanted/prayed for. Mercy House Global has checked every box on my prayer list and blessed me more than I even knew to ask for.
As I work with the volunteers more and more, I am discovering how to utilize my leadership skills and gain confidence in my abilities. Leadership does not only say they want to empower me; but they give me space and opportunity to figure out how to fulfill my job requirements to the best of my ability.
How does being a part of MHG and the Local Hope program help you set goals and develop yourself and your skills as well as provide you with hope?
Megan: One of the most amazing blessings that makes working at Mercy House Global so unique is the Local Hope program. I have the privilege of having Mercy House Global walk beside me to help me set goals, and they give me time in my work week to develop my skills. This is so exciting to me because I have long term dreams that I have been working on that felt like they were slipping away due to not having enough time or the right support. Now I have so much hope for my future knowing that I have resources and people to support me.
When I think about my future now, I am filled with so much hope. I have a job that I enjoy and where I feel valued and respected. I have support and resources to work towards long-term goals. Now, when I look forward to my long-term goals, I know that I am going to have a whole team of people who care about me and my future, and that is amazing.

Global Empowerment
Seven New Babies at Rehema in Kenya
At Mercy House Global, every life is deeply cherished. We believe God is the giver of life, and celebrating new life is one of the greatest joys of this ministry! In 2024, we welcomed SEVEN new babies born to residents at Rehema House—a reminder that miracles never grow old. And while our focus has never been on numbers, that’s a lot of diapers!
Each winter, new pregnant teen residents arrive at Rehema House, while others graduate from the program and transition into the graduate sponsorship program. These young mothers either move into the Transition Home or return to their families, empowered to rebuild their lives. This ongoing cycle of restoration and empowerment lies at the heart of our global mission, where families are healed and strengthened in the name of Jesus.

Launch of Motherhood Mentorship Program
We are excited about this new opportunity to support residents at Rehema House. Motherhood is a gift from God, and at Mercy House Global, we celebrate every baby and new mother born in Kenya, even in the most difficult of circumstances. Mentorship is an investment in people; it’s a chance to journey with someone. This monthly program provides supporters with an opportunity to speak encouragement into the lives of young women as they begin their journey of motherhood.
A New Level of Empowerment

When a new refugee or overcomer of trafficking joins the Local Hope program or a new pregnant resident in Kenya enters Rehema House, an exit plan is established. Mercy House Global understands that we are a loving stop in a vulnerable woman’s story. We aren’t necessarily a career path in the USA, and we do not provide permanent institutional living in Kenya. Our goal is to provide opportunities that create hope.
Mercy House Global and Rehema House are ministry partners and are also two separate organizational entities in their own countries. In order to bring equity to both, we have dreamed of a plan of sustainability for Rehema House, so one organization is not entirely dependent on the other. We are thrilled to see progress in this area in 2025 in some of the following areas:
• Maureen Kaderi, Rehema House executive director and former Compassion International sponsored child, graduated from a Belmont University Impact Team. The cohort provided the participants with mentors, business leaders, designers, and investors to help them succeed.
• For the first time in our history, we are working with our partners at Rehema House in Kenya to work towards their own sustainability. While this comes with so many challenges, we desire equity that comes through empowerment. This year, we have been so proud of our global team who are working hard to raise funds to support the beautiful work happening at Rehema House.
Sustainability Despite Economic Downturn
The economic downturn continues to impact the work of Mercy House Global with fair trade product sales and subscription club memberships down by more than 30% across the board. While this is discouraging on paper and has caused us to regroup, pivot, and replan, we have seen God’s miraculous provision in spite of numbers through the generosity of donors and grants from partnering nonprofits. We continue to see incredible impact and the fulfillment of our vision to go after the one that the Good Shepherd tells us about in Luke 15.
Clarity is a gift, and Mercy House Global has never been healthier in terms of it or had more accountability with the help of EOS (Entrepreneurial Operating Systems for small organizations). We will continue to stay the course and surrender this beautiful ministry to God.
Celebrating Fifteen Years of Restoration
At Mercy House Global, we have learned to acknowledge every small milestone. We do not take for granted what God has done. It has been miraculous! We also want to celebrate the big ones: Mercy House Global is turning fifteen years old in 2025! Praise God with us for what He has done and what He will continue to do. It will be a banner year to celebrate!
