Made by Miujiza in Kenya
The Cream and Black Miujiza Rug is a testament to the skill and dedication of the Miujiza weavers. Hand-woven with care over the course of five days, each rug reflects the pride and joy of the women who create them. Measuring approximately 2’ x 3’, this intricate textile is more than just a mat—it’s a piece of art and a symbol of dignity. When you use this rug, you are truly standing on holy ground.
Care instructions: Vacuum rug regularly without the beater bar. Rug pads are recommended for rug longevity, safety, and floor protection. The occasional gentle shake will keep these textiles looking their best. As woven textiles settle, a stray piece of yarn may pop up. This is perfectly normal. Do not cut the yarn; simply tuck and pull it back through the underside of the throw. If needed, wash by hand and air dry.
Creative Women
Creative Women is a home and lifestyle brand dedicated to uplifting female artisans worldwide, supporting women-led enterprises, and preserving artistic heritage. Through their skillful hands, they craft luxury home décor using the finest natural and recycled materials combined with timehonored techniques. Each piece tells a story of culture, empowerment, and contemporary design.
One of their traditional crafts, glassblowing, holds deep heritage and pride within the community. However, financial challenges and competition from large factories have driven many artisans into low-paid, production-line labor. Thanks to orders like this one for The Grace Case, these artisans can continue practicing their ancestral skills, ensuring the survival of this craft. This work also provides a crucial alternative to low-wage factory jobs.
Each canister created by Creative Women undergoes a meticulous process that takes four to five days, from sorting and crushing glass bottles to blowing, finishing, and quality control. This order of Glass and Mango Wood Canisters provided 4,320 hours of dignified work for eighteen artisans.
About the artisan: Rehka
