We can’t wait for the many more beach trips and dance parties in the garage to come. Thank you for always putting up with Lauren and Meg Gal’s craziness, and Megan Menard’s jokes. It won’t be the same not seeing you in the halls next year, but we will definitely come and visit you at URI and wherever gwacie ends up. We love you both so much! Love, Lauren

First Impressions By Sarah Seymour

Julia Phillips on Caroline Carella Mrs. Geary put us in pairs on the first day of school and I was with Caroline, and she did not speak and the only thing I remember was her saying that she had a brother, so for most of freshman year I didn’t like her and thought she was mean.

Caroline Carella on Grace Andrea During orientation Grace had her feet up on the chair and got yelled at, and I remember thinking, “She’s cool I want to be friends with her!”

Mrs. Durbois on Sarah Seymour “A blonde-haired buttercup.” But, oh boy, was I wrong!

Maeve Martin on Katie Marocchini On the first day of school, we had choir together and I asked if the seat next to her was open and she said yes. We were both really shy but we had a brief conversation and it seemed like it was going to be a my first friendship at Mercy. The next day at school, I asked if she wanted to sit with me at lunch, but she was insistent that she didn’t want to sit with me. Not sure why HAHA. We kinda had beef for a few days but I guess it worked out.

Ashley Amendola on Shelby Johnson: I thought Shelby was this star soccer player because she was the only name Harley could remember at tryouts. I figured out that she wasn’t and now we’re all friends.

Ms. Barone on Bella Gonzalez: I had her sister and thought she was going to be just like her sister, but then she wasn’t.

Ali Kelley on Maeve Martin: I thought she was way older than a freshman at volleyball tryouts, but then I walked into math class on the first day I was so confused when I saw her there.

Nicole Reagan on Lily Jackson: When Lily Jackson and I first met, we found out in the bathroom that we had the same advisor so we hugged.

Mr. BUTTERLY on Caroline Carella: She fell asleep on the first day of AP Lang junior year.

Lucy Zajack on Bridget Higgins: When I first met Bridget Higgins she asked me if I wanted to see pictures of her cats and I thought it was a little strange but also cute and now we’re close friends. Love you, Bridget!

Bridget Higgins on Meaghan Bertolami: At swim tryouts freshman year Meaghan Bertolami kept slapping me trying to hype me up for my races. It was the way that athletes slap each other before events and she was supporting me and cheering for me, but I went home and told my mom that this girl wouldn't stop hitting me.

Bridget Higgins on Paula Opena: The day of show choir auditions freshman year Paula Opeña sang her audition song and played her ukulele in biology class. I was so confused.

Ashley Guyon on Alissa Algiere: My first impression of Alissa Algiere was she was nice, and we were going to be good friends

Callia Borkowski on Ashley Guyon: My first impression of Ashley Guyon was during the Summer math course we went on a scavenger hunt. As we were running through the halls she mentioned she played lacrosse and I thought she was really cool.

Callia Borkowski on Meaghan Bertolami: My first impression of Meaghan Bertolami was that she was weird because she would ask everyone to feel how hairy her legs were from not shaving for swim.

Lilly Brown on Ella Bankoski The first time I met Ella was at a dive clinic over the summer, and when asked about our age, she panicked and said she was in eighth grade. So to my surprise, I saw her at Mercy at the start of freshman year and got very confused thinking she was a year younger.

Jess Eaton on Everybody Caroline Carella intimidated me because she had a cool messy bun at soccer tryouts freshman year and I thought she was going to be mean… I didn’t think Maddy Carbone knew who I was and was intimidated by her because she was cool… I thought Isabelle Stottlemyer was a horse girl… I thought Annie was rich because she had fake nails during the math extra help in the summer going into freshman year… I was jealous of Elizabeth Appel’s tote bag back in the math extra help in the summer going into freshman year.

Grace Andrea on Ashley Amendola: In 2018, I showed up to first day of soccer tryouts where it was strictly freshman, 2 seniors, and Harley. Late as usual, I found myself running across the field, bag in hand, smacking against my side, hurrying to the bench to put on my cleats—what a sight. I found myself amongst a group of girls from Portland, CT. To my side was a new face who introduced herself as Ava Noviello, as we were mid-conversation, I made eye contact with the girl to other side of Ava. She had dark brown hair slicked up into a pony tail that sat on the very top of her left side of her head. She was glaring at me as if we had some issue. Immediately I assumed she was going to be Miss Popular and was going to have a bunch of followers on Instagram. That night I went home and tried to find her page, I found this rather difficult as the only account I could find the was one with barely 100 followers. I zoomed into a picture to find out she was taller than her middle school boyfriend (I had overheard her raving about at practice), ladies and gentlemen, Ashley Amendola.

Where Will They be in Ten Years? By: Caroline Carella & Shelby Johnson

Aine Lally: Gets a job as a garbage truck driver, but soon after gets fired for stealing all the garbage cans that she was using to make her castle.

Pep: Happily retired living with her dog Márty in the depths of Long Island Sound.

Ashley: After years of searching, Ashley makes the news by recovering the mythic frozen head of Walt Disney.

Mr. Rory Butterly: His two sons are in their late teenage years, and he doesn’t know how to tame them, so he goes off the rails and goes on a 16-month world tour as a Bob Dylan tribute artist. Also during his mid-life crisis he trades his Kia Soul in for a red Lambo.

You've gotten me through the hardest times during Track season and I will never be able to thank you enough for that. You are so strong and can do anything you put your mind to! Never stop texting me drama. Hang in there and enjoy this time while you still can! Is chair a word?) To Ava Pear, Thank you for being the best Freshman and making every interaction we had a sweet one. Keep being a field hockey star and score hundreds of goals with my stick. Seriously though, good luck next year. -Grace Cink (P.S. Sami, congrats on being the last Fishie and on collecting the most pins.)
