Kuşadası Youth Festival, organized last year for the first time and attracted great interest, meets music lovers this year again. Within “Ancient Future”, contemporary artist Genco Gülan shares with art lovers his archeologically referenced sculptures, which he has produced recently, with different content.

Kerem Görsev “Quartet” 60’ların sonunda konservatuvara adım attığında gönlünü caza kaptıran, ilk bestelerini 90’lı yıllarda yapan Kerem Görsev, piyanoyla tanışmasının 50’nci yılını kutluyor. Görsev, Ferit Odman, Kağan Yıldız ve Engin Recepoğulları’ndan oluşan dörtlü, Zorlu PSM Drama Sahnesi’nde caz tutkunlarıyla buluşuyor. (21.30)

Kerem Görsev, who has fallen in love with jazz when he stepped into the conservatory at the end of the ‘60s and made his first compositions in the 90’s, is celebrating his 50th year of meeting with the piano. Türkiye’de geniş bir hayran kitlesine sahip Amon Amarth ile 20’nci yıllarında “veda reunion”ı yapan ve ilk defa Türkiye’de konser vermeye hazırlanan “power metal”in köklü grubu Rhapsody de etkinlikte yer alacak. The 4th “Monster Energy Presents: Rock Off 2017” will be held this year at UNIQ Open Stage on July 29th. Amnon Amarth, who has a large fan base in Turkey will give a concert with the viking scene for the first time in Turkey and will take part with the Power Metal’s long-established group Rhapsody, which will make a farewell reunion in the 20th year and perform for the first time in Turkey. World War Z 2 Max Brooks’un romanından beyazperdeye uyarlanan 2013 yapımı “World War Z”in devam filminde başrolde bir kez daha Brad Pitt’i izleyeceğiz. Filmin hikâyesi, kaynağı bilinmeyen bir zombi virüsünün, insanlığı büyük bir felakete sürüklemesi üzerinden devam ediyor. Filmin 9 Haziran’da vizyona girmesi bekleniyor.

We will once again watch Brad Pitt in the lead role of the 2013 film “World War Z”, adapted from the novel of Max Brooks. The movie’s story, a zombie virus of unknown origin, continues to drag mankind on a great deal of wickedness. The film is expected to begins to screen on June 9th.

Transformers 5: The Last Knight Kim Optimus Prime’a hayran olmadığını söyleyebilir ki? Kılık değiştiren robotlar karşımıza ilk kez 2007’de çıkmıştı. Serinin dördüncü filmi Transformers 4: Age of Extinction’ı (Transformers: Kayıp Çağ) 2014’te izlemiştik. Beşinci filmin fragmanında ise Kral Arthur, Naziler, Winston Churchill ve devasa Transformer uzaylı robotlar görülüyor. Bir de Optimus Prime’ın en sevdiği autobot arkadaşı Bumblebee’yi öldürmeye çalıştığı! Transformers sevenler arasında bu sahneyle ilgili yorumlar yapılsa da, neler olacağını filmin vizyona girdiği 23 Haziran’da öğreneceğiz. Mark Wahlberg, Isabela Moner ve Josh Duhamel’in oyuncu kadrosunda yer aldığı filmde Oscar ödüllü, efsanevi aktör Anthony Hopkins’i de izleyeceğiz. Seriyi sevenler için güzel haber, altıncı ve yedinci filmlerin sırasıyla 8 Haziran 2018 ve 28 Haziran 2019’da gösterime girecek olması.

Who can say that he is not a fan of Optimus Prime? The disguised robots appeared for the first time in 2007. We watched the fourth film in the series Transformers 4: Age of Extinction (Transformers) in 2014. In the fifth movie’s trailer, King Arthur, Nazis, Winston Churchill and giant Transformer alien robots are seen. And Optimus Prime’s trying to kill his favorite autobot friend, Bumblebee! Even though Transformers fans have comments about this scene, we will learn what happens on June 23 when the film begins to screen. We will see Mark Wahlberg, Isabela Moner and Josh Duhamel but also Oscar-winning, legendary actor Anthony Hopkins is in the cast. The good news for the lovers of the show is that the sixth and seventh films will be shown on 8 June 2018 and 28 June 2019, respectively.

Üç boyutlu yazıcılar birçok sektörde devrim yaratmaya devam ediyor. Pahalı olması nedeniyle genelde butik işlerde kullanılmasına rağmen artık dev firmalar da “3D printer” teknolojisinde yaşanan gelişmelere kayıtsız kalamıyor. Bu firmalardan biri de Alman spor giyim markası Adidas. Silikon Vadisi’nde faaliyet gösteren ve 3 boyutlu baskı teknolojileri üzerine uzmanlaşan Carbon ile iş birliğine giden Adidas, ilk etapta 2015’te 300 çift “Futurecraft 4D” model ayakkabı üretti. Toplam üretimin bu yıl 5.000 çifte ve 2018 sonunda 100 bine ulaşması hedefleniyor. Yeni modelin fiyatı henüz açıklanmadı ancak 2015’te üretilen 3-D Runner’ın etiketi 333 dolardı.

Samsung İtalya tarafından geliştirilen sohbet uygulaması Wemogee, afazi (konuşamamazlık) hastalarının ve konuşma bozukluğu yaşayanların başkalarıyla iletişim kurmasına yardımcı olmak için tasarlandı. Milano Üniversitesi iş birliğiyle geliştirilen uygulama için Samsung’un beyin cerrahları ve profesörlerle çalıştığı ifade ediliyor. Wemogee kelimeleri emojilere dönüştürüyor ve bir nevi yazı ile emojiler arasında çevirmenlik görevi görüyor. 140’tan fazla cümleyi içeren bir kütüphanenin yer aldığı uygulamada önceden tanımlanmış ifadeler büyük kolaylık sağlıyor. Şu anda yalnızca Google Play Store üzerinden indirilen Wemogee isimli uygulamanın iOS ve Galaxy Apps versiyonları da yakında hazır olacak.

Three-dimensional printers continue to revolutionize many sectors. Due to the fact that it is expensive, it is still used in boutique works, but now giant companies can not remain indifferent to developments in “3D printer” technology. One of these companies is the German sportswear brand Adidas. Adidas, operating in the Silicon Valley and specializing in 3D printing technologies, has partnered with Carbon to produce 300 pairs of “Futurecraft 4D” shoes in 2015. Total production is expected to reach 5,000 pairs this year and 100 thousand by the end of 2018. The price of the new model has not yet been announced, but the label of 3-D Runner produced in 2015 was $ 333.

Wemogee, the chat application developed by Samsung Italy, is designed to help aphasic patients and people with speech impairments to communicate with others. Developed by the Milano University business association, Samsung is working with brain surgeons and professors. Wemogee transforms words into emojis and acts as a translator between a kind of writing and emoji. In the application where a library contains more than 140 sentences, the predefined expressions provide great convenience. iOS and Galaxy Apps versions of the app named Wemogee, which is downloaded yet only from the Google Play Store, will be available soon.

“Sevmek Güzel Meslek”

Sakıp Sabancı Müzesi’nin (SSM), 15’inci yılında Sabancı Holding’in katkıları ve İstanbul Üniversitesi’nin iş birliğiyle gerçekleşen “Feyhaman Duran. İki Dünya Arasında” isimli sergi 24 Ocak’ta açıldı. Sergi, sanatçının Osmanlı İmparatorluğu’ndan Cumhuriyet’e geçiş sürecinin tüm çatışma ve gelişmelerini gözler önüne seriyor. SSM koleksiyonundan tamamlayıcı eserlerle Duran’ın külliyatına ayrıntılı bir bakış sunmayı amaçlayan sergiyi 30 Temmuz’a kadar ziyaret edebilirsiniz.

Sevmek Güzel Meslek sergisi, Bedri Rahmi Eyüboğlu’nun ilk eserinden son eserine her döneminden eserleri kapsıyor. Serginin en önemli özelliklerinden biri bugüne kadar yapılmış en kapsamlı Bedri Rahmi Eyüboğlu retrospektif sergisi olması… Bir başka ayrıcalık ise bu sergide ilk defa sanatseverlerin karşısına çıkan eserlerin bulunması... Between Two Worlds In the 15th year of Sakıp Sabancı Museum (SSM), “Feyhaman Duran. Between Two Worlds” exhibition is opened on January 24th with participations by Sabancı Holding and the cooperation of İstanbul University. The exhibition reveals all the conflicts and developments of the artist’s transition from the Ottoman Empire to the Republic. You can visit the exhibition, aiming to provide a detailed view of Duran’s collection with complementary works from the SSM collection, until 30 July.

One of the most important features of the exhibition is that it is the most comprehensive retrospective exhibition of Bedri Rahmi Eyüboğlu that has been made up to now... Another privilege is to have works for art lovers for the first time in this exhibition... At the exhibition in Ankara CerModern, the letters of the artist, his photos, special items, his works in different disciplines as well as an 18-minute documentary about the artist are present. Mirkelam’ın 20’nci Yılı 1995’te “Her Gece” klibiyle hayatımıza “koşan adam” olarak oldukça hızlı bir giriş yapan Mirkelam, kariyerinin 20’nci yılına özel bir albüm çıkardı. Mirkelam’ın sevilen 10 şarkısının 10 sanatçı arkadaşı tarafından seslendirildiği “Mirkelam Şarkıları” müzikseverlerle buluştu. Albümün kapağında farklı müzik türlerinde eserler veren sanatçıların kara kalem çizimleri geleneksel motiflerle birleşiyor. Aranjörlüğünü Ozan Çolakoğlu, Volga Tamöz ve İskender Paydaş’ın yaptığı albüm Gülşen’in yorumladığı “Her Gece” ile başlıyor. Albümde yer alan isimler ve yorumladıkları şarkıların tamamı şöyle: Teoman (Hatıralar), Göksel (Unutulmaz), Kenan Doğulu (Tavla), Nil Karaibrahimgil (Asuman), Mabel Matiz (Laubali), Bedük (Terle), Feridun Düzağaç (Erenköy), Eser Yenenler (Ah Bir Joker), Pinhani (Yollar).

20th Year of Mirkelam In 1995, Mirkelam made a very quick entry as “the man who runs” in our life with the clip “Her Gece” and he made a special album for the 20th year of his career. “Mirkelam Songs”, where 10 favorite songs of Mirkelam were sung by 10 performer friends, met with music lovers. Drawings of the artists performing in different music genres on the cover of the album combine with traditional motifs. The album arranged by Ozan Çolakoğlu, Volga Tamöz and İskender Paydaş starts with “Her Gece” performed by Gülşen. Roger Waters’tan solo albüm Müzik dünyasının efsanevi gruplarından Pink Floyd’un vokalisti Roger Waters, 25 yıl aradan sonra solo albüm çıkarmaya hazırlanıyor. Waters’ın ilk solo albümü 1992’deki “Amused to Death” idi. Efsanevi vokalistin “modern dünyanın ve belirsiz zamanların gözü kara bir izahı” olarak tanımladığı yeni albümü ise “Is This the Life We Really Want?” (Bu Gerçekten İstediğimiz Hayat mı?) adını taşıyor. Waters, albümden seçtiği ilk single “Smell The Roses”ı sosyal medyada müzikseverlerin beğenisine sundu. Prodüktörlüğünü Nigel Godrich’in yaptığı ve 12 şarkının yer aldığı albümde Joey Waronker, Jonathan Wilson, Gus Seyffert, Lee Pardini, Roger Manning, Lucius, Jessica Wolfe ve Holly Proctor gibi isimler de Waters’la birlikte çaldı.

Solo album from Roger Waters Pink Floyd’s vocalist Roger Waters, legendary band of the music world, is preparing to release a solo album after 25 years. Waters’ first solo album was “Amused to Death” in 1992. Within the scope of the 36th İstanbul Film Festival, which took place with the slogan “Remove Heads” this year, a total of 203 films were screened by 207 directors from 61 countries in 21 departments for 11 days. The cinema lovers lived full of cinema days with the participation of cinematographers, the guest directors and actors within events from the concerts to conversations, to special events. Festival awards found the owners at the ceremony held at Soho House on April 14th. After studying public relations in Cyprus, she mastered marketing communications at Greenwich University in England. Two years after she stepped into business life, she decided to pursue her childhood dream and kept America’s path to study fashion design. When she finished Nevada University in Las Vegas, she won the “UNLV Fashion Art” award for her graduation design. The brand “madebyZA” extends from Cyprus to London and Bahrain. In recent years, many of the leading actors of many TV series breaking records in Turkey and in various countries of the world adorn the screens with “madebyZA” designs. There is something else that is more exciting than the brand’s growth yet; she is expecting for her first baby... Are you ready to listen by her-self to the story of Zerrin Akıncı, the daughter of Mustafa Akıncı, the President of North Cyprus? What is it that you have learned and never forgotten during your studies in America? What impresses me the most is that there is an entrepreneurial mindset reflected in the educational system and therefore in you. While there are more negatives coming from difficulties and impossibilities in Eastern culture, the entrepreneurship is given special importance in the West; They have an education system that focuses more on the question of “how can it be done” than “can not be done”. Today, instead of continuing my works under another brand, I can say that this had a big influence when I created the brand “madebyZA”. It did not take long to feel your presence in the international fashion industry after a brilliant education. Could you tell us your first years and your awards? I spent the first years more with trying-making mistakes and I recognized the sector better. I got my first prize in high school in a competition that I found on internet and I attended in New York. It is meaningful for me today as it was then. I graduated in 2010 and with the dress I designed for the graduation project, I received the Fashion Art award. Then I received the “Outstanding Emerging Designer” award in Los Angeles and I had the right to make a fashion show in Orange County. I was awarded the “best fashion designer” award by Fashion TV in 2015 and Magazine Journalists in 2016. The prizes that I have received give me happiness, but for me, the real prize is to see the women who I have never met, loving and carrying my designs.

The clothes of the women who starred in the Turkish TV series are watched closely by their fans. You have put on many famous names so far. What did these works bring you?

En başta etkili bir marka bilinirliği. Türk dizilerinin özellikle Türkiye ve Arap ülkelerinde hafife alınamayacak bir izleyici kitlesi bulunuyor. Dizilerde özellikle başrol oyuncularının üzerlerinde görülen parçalarımız birçok izleyici tarafından sorulup satın alınıyor.

First, effective brand awareness. The Turkish TV series have an audience that can not be underestimated especially in Turkey and Arab countries. In the TV series, many of the pieces seen on the actors, especially the leading actors, are being asked and bought by many spectators.

The colors, patterns and fabrics used by the designers change almost every season. What are the materials and colors you most like to work on? The materials and colors vary with each season’s trends. For example, in the summer of 2017, transparency vinyl, crepes and chiffon are among the materials we use, while organza, taffeta and jacquard are highlighted in our 2018 autumnwinter collection. Black and white tones are among the colors we use every season. It is also possible to meet the details of madebyZA sign in every collection again.

10 yıl içerisinde ilk “madebyZA” Flagship mağazamızı açmak gibi bir hedefimiz var. Ancak bu ne zaman, nerede olur şu an söylemek için çok erken. İçerisinde bulunduğumuz pazarlarda daha çok büyüyüp şu an yeni girdiğimiz pazarlarda adımızı duyurmayı hedefliyoruz.

We have a goal to open our first “madebyZA” Flagship store in 10 years. But it’s too early to tell when, where it will happen right now. We aim to grow more in the markets we are in and announce our name in the newly entering markets.

Could you tell us a little about the 2017 collection?

2017 ilkbahar-yaz ”Lifespotted” koleksiyonumuzda kırmızı, siyah, beyaz, mango, orkide ve bronz renklerini ağırlıklı olarak kullandık. Koleksiyon, yaz aylarında ihtiyaç duyulan rahatlığı sunarken özel davetlerde aranılan şık ve abartısız parçaları da bir araya getiriyor. Bahar aylarında fark yaratan ceket takımlarımız sezonun “Designer’s favourite”leri arasında...

We used red, black, white, mango, orchid and bronze colors predominantly in our 2017 springsummer “Lifespotted” collection. The collection offers the comfort needed during the summer months and brings together stylish and understated pieces sought in special occasions. Our jacket suits that make a difference in spring are the season’s “Designer’s favorites”.

Mesleğiniz sizi hiç ara vermeden yeni tasarımlar yaratmaya zorluyor. Ruhunuzu ve yeteneğinizi nasıl besliyorsunuz?

Your profession forces you to create new designs without any breaks. How do you feed your spirit and your ability?

Yaşamın içerisindeki her şeyden etkilenebiliyorum. Bu bir şarkı, bir his veya ilk defa gittiğim bir şehir olabiliyor. Her gün etkilenebileceğim birçok hikâyeyle karşı karşıya gelebiliyorum. Ben daha çok konuşan değil dinleyen ve gözlemleyen biriyim. İnsanları, doğayı ve kendimi dinlemeyi severim; kendi özel alanıma zaman ayırmaya önem veririm.

I can be influenced by everything in life. It can be a song, a feeling or a city I go to for the first time. I can face many stories that can be influenced every day. I am not one who speaks more but listens and observes. I like to listen to people, nature and my-self; I’m paying attention to reserve time for my own private space.

RÖPORTAJ INTERWIEW Şimdiye dek nelerden ilham aldınız? Bir koleksiyonun başlangıcından bitişine kadar nasıl bir çalışma yürütüyorsunuz?

What inspired you in the collections you’ve prepared up to now? How do you run a collection from the beginning to the end?

Her koleksiyonun ayrı bir hikâyesi olduğundan genel olarak söylemek zor. İlk koleksiyonum ”Find Your Dharma” ilk olduğu için anlamı büyüktü. Kişinin hayatının amacını, yani kendi dharmasını bulmasından yola çıkarak oluşan etnik öğeleri ve modern çizgileri bir araya getiren bir koleksiyondu. 2017 sonbahar-kış koleksiyonumuz ”newborn” ise markamız yeniden yapılandırılıp yurt dışı pazarına hazırlarken karnımda da “yeni bir oluşumun” varlığını öğrenmemle ortaya çıktı. Yeni hayat, yeni doğum ve yeni başlangıçlar ilham kaynağı oldu. Genelde yaratım, beklediğim veya sadece koleksiyon zamanlarında hazırlandığım bir süreç değil. Okuduğum, etkilendiğim, gördüğüm veya hissettiğim kısacası ilham aldığım bir şey olduğunda notlar alır, skeçler karalıyorum. Koleksiyon oluşturma sürecinde önceden ortaya çıkan fikir ve çizimleri geliştirip koleksiyon hâline getiriyorum. Renk seçimlerini sezon trendlerine göre yapıyorum. Koleksiyonda kullanılacak materyalleri ise yurt dışı fuarlarından seçiyorum.

Since each collection has a separate story, it is hard to say in general. My first collection “Find Your Dharma” is very meaningful because it was first. It was a collection that brought together the ethnic items and modern lines that came out of the way of finding your own dharma. Our 2018 autumn-winter collection “newborn” came out with knowing the existence of a “new formation” in me while reforming our brand and preparing it for the foreign market. New life, new birth and new beginnings became the source of inspiration. Generally, creation is not a process I’m expecting, or just a collection process. In short, what I read, what I see, feel, or briefly I feel I get inspired, I take notes, sketch out. In the process of creating collections, I develop the ideas and drawings that have already emerged and bring them into collections. I make color selections based on season trends. I choose the materials to be used in the collections from foreign fairs.

Kadınların özel gecelerde yaptığı en büyük hata nedir? Kadınların genel olarak yaptığı en büyük hata bedenlerini tanımamalarından kaynaklanan tercihleri oluyor. Bedeninizi iyi tanırsanız sevdiğiniz bölgelerinizi öne çıkaracak parçalar seçmek ve rahatsız olduğunuz yerlerinize dikkat çekmemek çok daha kolaydır. Aynı şekilde renk seçimlerinde de kişinin tenine, göz ve saç rengine göre parçaları tercih etmesi, doğru renklerle daha canlı ve genç görünmesine yardımcı olur. Merit Otelleri’nin gelirini lösemili çocuklar ve kanser hastalarına bağışladığı defilelerin konukları arasındaydınız. Ada’daki bu tür sosyal sorumluluk projelerine dair düşünceleriniz nedir? Üyesi olduğunuz dernekler var mı? Kuzey Kıbrıs’ta bu tür kaliteli sosyal sorumluluk projelerinin yapılması mutluluk verici. Kadından Yaşama Destek Derneği’nde kurulduğu günden itibaren aktif olarak görev almaktayım; toplumda kadının güçlenmesi, cinsiyet eşitliği ve aile içi şiddetle ilgili birçok proje ve etkinlik gerçekleştirdik ve bunlara devam edeceğiz.

What is the biggest mistake women make at special nights? The biggest mistake women make in general is their preferences stemming from their inability to recognize their bodies. If you know your body well, it is much easier to choose the pieces that will highlight your favorite body regions and stop attracting attention to your body regions that you don’t like. Likewise, in choosing colors in the same way, preferring pieces in accordance to your skin, eyes and hair color helps you to look more vibrant and younger with the right colors. You were among the guests of shows sponsored by Merit Hotels, whose income was donated to children with leukemia and cancer patients. What are your thoughts on this kind of social responsibility projects on the island? Are there any associations or foundations that you are a member of? It is pleasing to have such high quality social responsibility projects in Northern Cyprus. I have been actively involved in the Life Support from Women Association since the day it was established; we have carried out and continue to carry out many projects and activities related to women’s empowerment in society, gender equality and domestic violence.

Zerrin Akıncı, what kind of a woman at home? What did marriage teach you?

Evlilikten öte birliktelikler paylaşımlar birçok şey öğretiyor tabii ki... Eşimle birlikte ikimizin de yoğun ve aktif bir hayatı var, iş ve sosyal hayat arasında dengeyi bulmaya çalışsak da işlerimiz hayatlarımızın bir parçası olduğundan bu konuda çok da başarılı olduğumuzu söyleyemem.

Beyond marriage, relationships, sharing teach a lot of things, sure... Of course, we have an intense and active life together with my spouse, and although we try to find a balance between work and social life, I can not say that we are very successful in this matter as our work is part of our lives.

What do you feel when designing a new outfit? What’s going on in your mind, your heart?

Tek bir kıyafet olarak değil de tasarımlar koleksiyon olarak meydana çıkıyor. Yeni bir koleksiyon hazırlarken yeni bir hikâyeyle yaşıyorsunuz, tüm yenilikleriyle sizi heyecanlandıran bambaşka bir hikâye… Son olarak, sizin gibi gönlünü tasarıma kaptırmış gençlere neler tavsiye edersiniz? Onlara her zaman hayallerinin peşinden gitmelerini ama gerçekçi adımlar atmalarını öneririm. Yeteneklerini geliştirdikleri, öz disiplinli, istikrarlı ve sabırlı oldukları sürece başarı mutlaka gelir. Araştırmaktan, sormaktan ve kapı çalmaktan aslaww vazgeçmesinler.

Not as a single outfit, but designs go out as a collection. You are living a new story when you are preparing a new collection, a completely different story that excites you with all its innovations… Finally, what advice do you recommend to young people who love design like you? I always advise them to go after their dreams but take realistic steps. As long as they develop their talents, self-disciplined, stable and patient, success will surely come. They have never to give up searching, asking and stealing doors.

İstanbul Üniversitesi Çapa Tıp Fakültesi’nden mezun olduktan sonra Üsküdar’daki Zeynep Kamil Hastanesi’nde ihtisasını tamamlayan ve bir süre baş asistan olarak çalışan Sucuoğlu, kendisine sunulan parlak tekliflere rağmen memleketinin yolunu tuttu. Bu kararını, “Her Kıbrıslı Türk’te olduğu gibi Kıbrıs sevdası ağır bastı” sözleriyle açıklayan Sucuoğlu, doğup büyüdüğü topraklarda 20 yılı aşkın süre doğum ve kadın hastalıkları sahasında hizmet verdi. Siyasetin çağrısına uzun süre kulak tıkadıysa da, 2013’te “Belki de artık zamanı gelmiştir, ülkeye de hizmet etmemiz lazım” diyerek milletvekili seçimlerine katıldı. Ulusal Birlik Partisi’nden (UBP) Lefkoşa milletvekili seçilen Sucuoğlu, partisi iktidara geldikten sonra Turizm Bakanlığı görevini üstlendi. Mr. Faiz Sucuoğlu, Minister of Health who made miraculous breakthroughs in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus during his task process of only 13 months, owes this success to his passion for his country as well as his profession. After graduating from Çapa Medical Faculty of İstanbul University, Sucuoğlu completed his specialty at Zeynep Kamil Hospital in Üsküdar and worked as a chief assistant for a while, holding his way to his country despite the bright proposals presented to him. Describing this decision with the words “Cypriot love was very strong, like every Turkish Cypriot”, Sucuoğlu served birth and gynecological diseases area for over 20 years in the land he was born and raised in. Though he had long listened to the call of politics, in 2013 he said, “Perhaps it is time for us, we need to serve the country.” Sucuoğlu, who was elected as a Nicosia deputy from the National Unity Party (UBP), assumed the post of Ministry of Tourism after the party came to power. When the government was renewed, he returned to the sector in a sense and became the Minister of Health. Come now, let’s hear the rest from Mr. Sucuoğlu...

Görevi devraldığınızda öncelikleriniz nelerdi?

When we came in, we set three goals; New legislation, doctors’ personal rights and infrastructural work. In 2016, rusty water flowing through our faucets, no hot water, elevator out of function 10 times per day, stream flowing and producing flies and a bad smell, no parking place so old people and patients walking at least 500 meters to reach the hospital, briefly, we found out Burhan Nalbantoğlu State Hospital whose walls were pouring, the physical therapy center was cluttered. With a beds capacity of 600, the hospital, which is the flagship of North Cyprus, has collapsed literally. Most of these problems have been solved completely in six months. In order to reduce the overload of the hospital, we have renewed the Trainway Police Hospital which was closed in 2008. Only last month, 9 thousand of our citizens were served. “Oncology Hospital” has been completely renewed. Many of our patients who used to go to Southern Cyprus now receive services from here. We have completed the construction of the hospital in the Karpaz region too. For the first time in its history, that region is served 24/7. We accomplished the central heating and cooling system of Famagusta Hospital. Dimni and Cengiz Topel Hospitals were repaired and painted. The foundations of the Morphou Hospital, which has been dreamed for 30 years, have been started, I hope that it will end in nine months. But our biggest goal is undoubtedly our new hospital with 800 beds, which we will build on 270 acres land behind the BRT, instead of the Burhan Nalbantoğlu State Hospital. Of course, we certainly expect opinion and contribution from the “Motherland”. We are now leading the world in the health sector. We take Isparta State Hospital, opened by Binali Yıldırım, 1.5 months ago as our example for this project.

Göreve geldiğimizde üç hedef belirledik; yeni yasalar, doktorların özlük hakları ve altyapı çalışmaları... 2016’da karşımızda musluklarından paslı su akan, sıcak suyu olmayan, asansörü günde 10 defa bozulan, içinden akan deresi sinek ve pis koku üreten, park yeri olmadığı için yaşlılarımızın ve hastalarımızın en az 500 metre yürümek zorunda kaldığı, duvarları dökülen, fizik tedavi merkezi darmadağın olmuş bir Burhan Nalbantoğlu Devlet Hastanesi bulduk. 600 yatak kapasitesiyle Kuzey Kıbrıs’ın amiral gemisi konumundaki hastane tam anlamıyla çökmüştü. Bu sorunların çoğunu altı ayda tamamen çözdük. Hastanenin aşırı yükünü azaltmak için, 2008’de kapatılan Tren Yolu Polikliniği’ni yeniledik. Sadece geçen ay 9 bin vatandaşımıza hizmet verdi. “Onkoloji Hastanesi”ni baştan aşağı yeniledik. Eskiden Güney Kıbrıs’a giden birçok hastamız şimdi buradan hizmet alıyor. Yine Karpaz bölgesindeki hastane inşaatını tamamladık. Tarihinde ilk defa o bölge 7 gün 24 saat hizmet görüyor. Mağusa Hastanesi’nin merkezi ısıtma ve soğutma sistemini bitirdik. Dimni ve Cengiz Topel Hastaneleri elden geçirildi, boyandı. 30 yıldır hayali kurulan Güzelyurt Hastanesi’nin temelleri atıldı, inşallah dokuz ayda bitecek. Fakat kuşkusuz en büyük hedefimiz Burhan Nalbantoğlu Devlet Hastanesi’nin yerine BRT’nin (Bayrak Radyo TV) arkasında almış olduğumuz 270 dönümlük araziye yapacağımız 800 yataklı yeni hastanemizdir. Bunun için tabii “Ana Vatan”dan muhakkak görüş ve katkı bekliyoruz. Türkiyemiz şu anda sağlık sektöründe dünyaya liderlik yapıyor. Bu proje için 1.5 ay önce sayın Binali Yıldırım tarafından açılan Isparta Devlet Hastanesi’ni kendimize örnek alıyoruz.

Why did you choose Isparta?

Akdeniz ve Ege ikliminin hâkim olduğu bölgelerde yapılan hastanelerde ağırlıklı olarak beton tercih ediliyor. Kuzeye, güneşin daha az göründüğü bölgelerin hastaneleri ise cam ağırlıklı oluyor. Yani Isparta Hastanesi her yönüyle bizim projemize uyuyor. Fizibilite çalışmalarımız bitti. İnşallah haziran ayında bir Ankara ziyaretiyle bu konuyu Türkiye’deki yetkililerle paylaşacağız. Ki daha önce onlardan da yeşil ışık aldığımızı söylemek isterim. Umarım onların da katkılarıyla bu hastanenin temelini atmak bize nasip olacak.

In the hospitals built where the Mediterranean and Aegean climate dominate, concrete is predominantly preferred. To the north, the hospitals made in the regions where the sun is less visible are dominated by glass. So Isparta Hospital is adapting to our project in every direction. Our feasibility studies are over. I hope to share this issue with the authorities in Turkey through a visit to Ankara in June. I’d like to say that we had positive signs from them before. I hope that their contributions will help us lay the foundations of this hospital.

Kuşkusuz önceliğiniz devlet hastaneleri… Fakat Türkiye’de özel hastanecilik de bambaşka bir boyuta ulaştı. Bu alanda Kıbrıs’ta yeni yatırımlar var mı?

Undoubtedly your priority is state hospitals... But in Turkey private hospitalization has reached a completely different dimension. Are there new investments in Cyprus in this area?

Tabii, şu anda zaten iki tane tıp fakültesi hastanemiz var; biri Lefkoşa’da, diğeri Girne’de. Ayrıca özel hastanelerimiz de var. Bunlar tabii ki denetleniyor ama bazı eksiklikler gördüğümüz için özel hastanelere ilişkin yasa ve tüzükleri düzenliyoruz. Bundan sonra yapılacak yeni hastanelerimizin tam anlamıyla hangi şartlarda, hangi kurallara göre yapılması gerektiği yönünde bir yasamız yoktu. Bu eksiği de gideriyoruz. “Yasalar” üzerinde ne gibi değişiklikler yaptınız? 1963’ten beri Kıbrıs’ta dönemin şartları, politik ve sosyal anlamda çatışmalar nedeniyle doktor sayısı çok çok azdı. Tabii eskiden tüm adaya dağılmıştı Kıbrıs Türkleri… Doktor abilerimize verilen görev, haftanın belli günlerinde o bölgelere gidip insanları muayene etmek ve imkânlar çerçevesinde hizmet verebilmekti. Devlet memuru olan bu doktorların kliniklerde veya özel hastanelerde çalışma imkânı vardı, hâlâ var. Böylece doktorlarımızın özverili çalışmasına rağmen sistemsizliğin sistem hâline geldiği bir sağlık sektörü ortaya çıktı. Dolayısıyla biz yasalara çok büyük ağırlık verdik. 20 - 30 yıldır tartışılan ama hiçbir şekilde adım atılmayan ve hep metinlerde kalan birçok yasayı tamamladık. “Döner Sermaye Yasası”, “Hasta Hakları Yasası”, “Özel Hastaneler Yasası”, “Sağlık Çalışanları Yasası” ve “Nakil Tüzüğü Yasası”nı tamamladık. Geriye “Genel Sağlık Sigortası Yasası” kaldı. Biz işimizi bitirdik fakat konu Maliye’yi de ilgilendirdiği için onların çalışmalarını tamamlamasını bekliyoruz. Bir diğer önemli konu da doktorlarımızın özlük haklarıydı. 2011’den bu yana doktorlarımız 4 bin TL’ye çalışıyorlar Kıbrıs’ta ve buradaki hayat şartları mâlum. Bu rakam nedeniyle doktor bulamıyorduk devlette çalışacak. Çok yakında bu da oylanacak ve maaşlarda yüzde 50’ye yakın bir artış sağlayacağız. Özetle, hedeflediğimiz noktanın bir yıl önündeyiz. 78

Sure, we already have two medical faculty hospitals; one in Nicosia, the other in Kyrenia. We also have private hospitals. These are of course audited, but as we have seen some deficiencies, we are regulating laws and regulations for private hospitals. Before, our new hospitals did not have a strict sense of what conditions and rules should be followed. We also eliminate this shortcome. What changes did you make on “laws”? Since 1963, the number of doctors was very small because of the conditions in this era in Cyprus, political and social conflicts. Of course, the Turkish Cypriot had been scattered all over the island in the past ... The duty given to our doctor colleagues was to go to those regions on certain days of the week and to examine people and to be able to provide services within the possibilities. These doctors, who were state employees, had and still have the opportunity to work in clinics or private hospitals. Thus, despite the self-sacrificing work of our doctors, a system of healthlessness has emerged in the health sector. So we gave a lot of weight to the law. We have completed many laws that have been debated for 20 - 30 years but have never been stepped in, and always remain in the texts. We have completed the “Revolving Fund Act”, “Patients’ Rights Act”, “Private Hospitals Act”, “Healthcare Workers Act” and “Transfer Regulation Act”. The “General Health Insurance Act” remained uncompleted. We have finished our work, but we are looking forward to completing their work because the issue concerns Finance. Daha önce turizm bakanlığı da yaptınız ve sağlık turizmi konusunda ciddi çalışmalarınız olduğunu biliyoruz. Okurlarımızı bu konuda aydınlatır mısınız lütfen? Turizm bakanıyken sağlık turizmine oldukça ağırlık verdik. İlk sağlık turizmi çalıştayını da birkaç ay önce gerçekleştirdik. Çok da güzel sonuçlar çıktı oradan. Dünyada kültür turizminin yanı sıra sağlık turizmine de çok ciddi bir ilgi var. Ve ilginçtir kültür turizminde bir turist 1 TL katma değer getirirken, sağlık turizminde bu rakam 7 TL’ye çıkıyor. Sağlık turizminin Avrupa’da 50 milyar, tüm dünyada ise 250-300 milyar dolarlık bir pazarı var. Kıbrıs bu pazar içerisinde özellikle konumu, havası, deniz suyunun temizliği itibarıyla ve en önemlisi çok sakin ve barışçıl bir bölge olması dolayısıyla avantajlı durumda. Hatta benim turizm bakanlığım sırasında Amerika’da yapılan bir araştırmada dünyada 5’inci, adalar arasında ise ilk sırada yer verildi Kıbrıs’a... İki büyük tıp fakültesi hastanemiz, özel hastanelerimiz, otellerimizle çok avantajlıyız. Peki devlet bunun neresinde derseniz maalesef çok gerisinde. Türkiye’nin 2000’li yılların başındaki durumundayız. “Şehir hastaneleri” konseptinin tutmasıyla birlikte şu anda Türkiye’deki devlet hastaneleri ve üniversite hastaneleri de yavaş yavaş payını yükseltiyor. Neden? Çünkü sağlık turizminde tıbbi başarı kadar otelcilik hizmeti yani yatak kapasitesi ve hizmet kalitesi de önemlidir. Bizim burada gerçekten dünya çapında hatta standartların üzerinde birçok otelimiz var. Dolayısıyla sağlık turizmi için gelenler 3-4 günlük bir hastane hizmetinden sonra en az 2-3 gün de yine Kıbrıs’ta bir otelde kalıyor, son muayene ve kontrolünü de yapıp ülkesine dönüyor. Yani sağlık turizmi denince hastanelerin ve otellerin de içinde olduğu bir konsept yaratmak ve bu işin üzerine gitmek lazım. Biz bu sistemi yavaş yavaş kuruyoruz.

We did the Dr. Faiz first health tourism Sucuoğlu workshop a few months ago. Very good results came out of there. In addition to culture tourism in the world, there is also a serious interest in health tourism. And interestingly, while a tourist brings an added value of 1 TL in culture tourism, this figure is 7 TL in health tourism. Health tourism has a market of 50 billion in Europe and 250-300 billion dollars in the whole world. Cyprus is advantageous in this market, especially because of its position, air, cleanliness of sea water and most importantly it is a very calm and peaceful area. In fact, when I was the Minister of Tourism, a research made in the United States, Cyprus took the 5th place in the world, the first place between the islands... We are very advantageous with two major medical faculty hospitals, private hospitals and with our hotels. If you ask where is the state’s relation with it? Unfortunately, it is far behind. We are in the early part of the year 2000 in Turkey. With the concept of “city hospitals”, the state hospitals and university hospitals in Turkey are gradually increasing their share. Why? Because health tourism as well as medical success, hotel service, bed capacity and quality of service is also important. We have many real world-class hotels here, even over the standards. Therefore, those who come to health tourism stay in a hotel in Cyprus for at least 2-3 days after 3-4 day

RÖPORTAJ INTERWIEW Bu proje için belirlediğiniz bir pilot bölge var mı? Evet, Lefke’de Cengiz Topel Hastanesi’nin yanına yeni bir hastane yapmak düşüncesindeyiz. Çünkü Lefke bölgesi, konum itibarıyla çok daha serin, çok daha yeşil. Önümüzdeki süreçte özellikle sağlık turizmi alanında hizmet sunma kapasitesi çok yüksek. Orada denize doğru yeni bir hastane yapmak amacındayız, oradaki otantik yapıya da uyacak şekilde. O biraz daha farklı bir hastane olacak, şu anda proje çalışmaları devam ediyor. Coğrafi avantajlarınız kadar sıkıntılarınız da var belli ki… Evet ne yazık ki bizim burada iki büyük sıkıntımız var; ilki reklam, ikincisi de ulaşım. Bu ikisi maalesef kültür turizmini etkilediği gibi sağlık turizmini de etkiliyor. KKTC’ye günde 20 uçak gelebilse eminim Dr. Faiz hepsi hemen hemen dolu olur. Sucuoğlu Ancak şu andaki kapasite belli. Dolayısıyla en büyük sıkıntımız talep çok ama yer bulup onları Kuzey Kıbrıs’a getirmek ciddi bir sıkıntı. Bu devlet politikasıdır, bunu aşmak lazım. Yine ikinci bir şey ki artık arkadaşlarımız onu yavaş yavaş yapıyor sağlık turizminin de kültür turizmi gibi Kuzey Kıbrıs’ta yapıldığını dünyaya, özellikle belli bölgelere anlatmak lazım. Bu çalışmalar ve tanıtımlarımız yoğun bir şekilde devam ediyor. Önümüzdeki 10 yılda Kıbrıs’ın sağlık turizminden çok ciddi bir pay alacağını tahmin ediyorum. KKTC’de “sağlık turizmi” denince şimdilik “tüp bebek” hizmeti başı çekiyor değil mi? Evet, “tüp bebek” hizmeti burada ciddi bir ivme kazanmış durumda. Tabii bir özeleştiri yapmak gerekirse tüp bebek çalışmalarını yasal düzenlemelerle biraz daha kontrol altına almamız gerekiyor. Çünkü kontolsüz bazı uygulamalar yapılıyor. Kısa sürede bunu da çözeceğiz. Bakanlık kontrolünde adımlar atılması ve caydırıcı cezai yaptırımların da gündeme gelmesi mümkün olacak. Bizim için önemli bir diğer konu ise “yaşlı” turizmi…

But you obviously have problems as well as your geographical advantages... Yes, unfortunately we have two big nuisances here; the first is advertising and the second is transportation. These two facts unfortunately affect tourism and health tourism as well. I am sure if 20 flights a day can come to the TRNC, they will be almost full. But the current capacity is certain. So our biggest problem is that the demand is high, but finding a place and bringing them to Northern Cyprus is a serious problem. This is government policy, we have to overcome it. A second thing that our friends are making slowly, that we have to tell the world, especially some regions that health tourism is being done in Northern Cyprus like culture tourism. About “health tourism” in the TRNC, “in vitro fertilization” service is leading right now? Yes, the “in vitro fertilization” service has gained momentum here. Of course, if we have to make a selfcriticism, we have to take some more control over the practice of in vitro fertilization by legal regulations. Some uncontrolled applications are being made. Soon we will solve this. Steps will be taken in the control of the ministry and deterrent criminal sanctions will come to the fore. Another important issue for us is “old people” tourism.

Ne demek bu? Düşünün Kuzey Avrupa’da kışın hava eksi 20 derecedeyken burada 20 derece. Yaşlılar için zorlu hava şartları bunlar. Onları buraya getirip 2-3 ay misafir etmek ve sağlık hizmeti vermek, havalar ısınınca da ülkelerine döndürmek, kendi ülkelerindeki sağlık harcamalarıyla kıyaslandığında daha avantajlı. Kuzey Kıbrıs, iklim ve deniz suyu sıcaklığı nedeniyle büyük bir avantaja sahip. Bir de burada koşuşturmanın olmaması özellikle yaşlı turizmine büyük katkı sağlıyor. Mesela Karpaz’da hedeflediğimiz 20 bin kapasiteli hastanemiz Bafra’da yapılacak ve yaşlı turizmi için bize büyük imkanlar sunacak. Bu çalışmalar ve tanıtımlarımız yoğun bir şekilde devam ediyor. Önümüzdeki 10 yılda Kıbrıs’ın sağlık turizminden çok ciddi bir pay alacağını tahmin ediyorum. Tanıtım demişken… Merit Otelleri’nin bakanlığınızla koordineli olarak gerçekleştirdiği defilelere dair düşüncelerinizi de bizimle paylaşır mısınız lütfen? Bizleri ziyaret ediyorlar ve desteğe ihtiyaç duyulan hastane veya servislerdeki eksikleri birlikte ortaya koyuyoruz ve ona yönelik bir defile ile belli bir miktar katkı sağlanıyor. Ama katkıyı bir tarafa bırakın bana göre farkındalık çok önemli. Ve bu konuda da Merit Grubu diğer gruplara göre bayrağı açık ara önde taşıyor. Çeşitli sektörlere katkı sağlama, farkındalık yaratma ve sosyal yaşama bir hareketlilik katma anlamında diğer gruplara da örnek olmalarını diliyorum. Ömrünü tıp sektörüne adamış bir doktor ve bir Bakan olarak Kıbrıs’a dair hayaliniz nedir? Kuzey Kıbrıs Türk Cumhuriyeti’nin tüm dünyanın tanıdığı ikinci Türk Cumhuriyeti olmasını istiyorum. Benim en büyük hayalim bu. Bir diğeri ülkemizi üreten bir topluma dönüştürmek. Ve bu tabii belki tanıtımla, ambargoların kalkmasıyla olacak bir şeydir. Sağlık alanındaki an büyük hayalim ise tabii ki 800 yataklı şehir hastanemizin temelini atmaktır. Hep söylüyorum biz Anavatan’la etle tırnak gibiyiz. Türkiye Cumhuriyeti’nin bize verdiği maddi ve manevi katkının sınırı yok. Sağ olsunlar, dünyada bir ilki gerçekleştirip Akdeniz’in altından Ada’ya su bile getirdiler. Ama benim düşüncem o ki devasa şehir hastanemiz, Türkiye Cumhuriyeti’nin Ada’daki damgası ve anıtı olacaktır. Yani insanlar hastanenin önünden geçerken “Allah razı olsun” diyecektir.

What does that mean? Imagine 20 degrees here in the winter but -20 degrees in northern Europe. These are the tough weather conditions for the elderly. It is more advantageous to bring them here for 2-3 months, to provide health care services and to send them back to their countries in the heat of the day, compared to the health spending in their own countries. Northern Cyprus has a great advantage due to the climate and sea water temperature. Moreover, the fact that there is no rush here makes a great contribution to elderly tourism in particular. For example, our 20 thousand-capped hospital in Karpaz will offer us great opportunities for elderly tourism in Bafra. Our work and intros are continuing intensively. I estimate that Cyprus will have a very significant share in health tourism over the next 10 years. Advertising... Would you please share your thoughts on fashion shows that Merit Hotels has made in coordination with your ministry? The Merit Group is a behavior that should be appreciated and exemplified. I would like to thank Mister Besim Tibuk for this, and of course Miss Hanzade deserves a big thank for the sensitivity. The third fashion show in last week. They visit us and we determinate together the missing things in the hospitals or services needed and a certain contribution is provided with a fashion show. But let me leave the side the contribution matter but awareness is very important to me. And in this regard, the Merit Group is clearly ahead of other groups. I wish them to be an example to other groups in terms of contributing to various sectors, creating awareness and adding mobility to social life. What is your dream of Cyprus as a doctor and a minister whose life is dedicated to the medical sector? I want the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus to be the second Turkish Republic recognized by the whole world. This is my greatest dream. Another is to transform our country into a producing society. And this, of course, is something that will happen maybe with advertising, with the elimination of the embargoes. The greatest happiness in the health field is, of course, the foundation of our 800 beds city hospital. I always say we are strictly attached to the Motherland. There is no limit to the material and spiritual contribution that the Republic of Turkey gives us. Thanks to them, they even brought water under the Mediterranean to the Island. But my opinion is that we will be, with the gigantic city hospital, the stamp and monument of the Republic of Turkey in the island. So when people pass in front of the hospital they will say, “God bless you!”.

“COUTURE ROYAL” Merit International, Northern Cyprus’s largest tourism investor, has hosted the third major fashion show sponsored by the company. Cypriot renowned fashion designer Raşit Bağzıbağlı exhibited his special collection named “Couture Royal” at Merit Royal Hotel on the evening of May 27th. Özge Ulusoy participated as a master model where one of the most private dresses of the show was sold by auction to 80 thousand liras. All the revenue of the fashion show was donated to Dr. in Cyprus. Burhan Nalbantoğlu State Hospital Physical Therapy Department. Merit International, which previously sponsored Vural Gökçaylı fashion show for the benefit of “the Association of Cancer Patients” on 5 November 2016 and Dilek Hanif fashion show for the benefit of Kemal Saraçoğlu Foundation of Children with Leukemia and Fight against Cancer on 4 February 2017, realized the third largest fashion show in Cyprus. This time Cypriot fashionist Raşit Bağzıbağlı offered to fashion followers a private collection named “Couture Royal” at the Merit Royal Hotel in Kyrenia.

80 Thousand Liras from Astra Group The fashion show where the choreography was held by Yasin Soy, Özge Ulusoy came out as a “principal model” in the podium. After the show that the invitees followed with admiration, the usual “auction” came in. Raşit Bağzıbağlı has been applauded by the invitees for donating the most special nightwear he has designed this year, consisting of black lace and yellow taft. The dress was on sale for 15 thousand liras at the starting price, and was bought finally at the result of price increase by Astra Group Board Member Serdar Taşkınsoy for 80 thousand liras. All the revenue of the show is donated to the Physical Therapy Department of Burhan Nalbantoğlu State Hospital which is the flagship ship of the health services in Cyprus.

“Events Will Encourage Other Companies” Hanzade Özbaş, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Merit Hotels, while an interview with press members, said that Merit International is also aiming to revive the cultural and artistic life of North Cyprus with sponsorships. “Of course we also aim to contribute to Cyprus while doing so. On this path, we chose primarily to help health institutions. Like the previous ones, we also donate the revenue from this fashion show to the healthcare sector. Such social responsibility projects are important initiatives that illuminate the path of society and encompass their wounds. Çocukluğumdan beri moda sektörünün içerisindeyim. 21 yaşımda ilk defilemi yaparak moda tasarımcılığına başladım. Her sezon Fashion Week'lerde yer alarak hem haute-couture tasarımlarımı hem de "Rashid" ismini verdiğim hazır giyim koleksiyonumu hazırlıyorum. Raşit Bağzıbağlı olarak da İstanbul Levent’teki showroomumda hizmet veriyorum. Soyadınızın ilginç öyküsünü sizden dinleyebilir miyiz? Bağzıbağlı aslında, “boğaza bağlı”dan geliyor. Kıbrıs şivesinden ötürü bu şekilde telaffuz edilmiş. Dedemin dedesinin boğazına fular bağlamasıyla bir lakap olarak başlayıp bugünlere kadar gelmiş. İnsanın aklını alacak kadar renkli ve kaliteli kumaşların içinde büyümek size meslek seçimi için pek bir alternatif bırakmamış olsa gerek… Modacı olmaya dair kararınızı nasıl ve ne zaman verdiniz? 12 yaşımdayken Gianni Versace hayranlığımla beraber moda sektörüne giriş yapmaya karar verdim. Tabii bu kadar renkli ve güzel kumaşların arasında büyümek de ailemden bana kalan en büyük miras. Mesleki eğitiminizi nerede aldınız? Stilistlik, marka ve pazarlama eğitimlerimin yanı sıra sürekli araştırma içerisinde oldum, tabii ki en önemlisi tekstilin içerisinde büyümem Allah'ın vergisiydi bana. Her modacı kendine özgüdür. Fakat size ilham veren, yolunuzu aydınlatan birileri vardır, değil mi? Tabii ki... Tasarımcı olarak çizgisini, duruşunu beğendiğim ve etkilendiğim insanlar var. Gianni Versace’nin tasarım gücü, Valentino’nun duruşu, Tom Ford’un pazarlama zekâsı ve tabii ki ve en önemlisi babam Derviş Bağzıbağlı’nın kumaş bilgisi. Kariyerinize dönüp baktığınızda yıldızınızın en çok parladığı an hangisidir? Tasarımcı kimliğimi ön plana çıkarttığım, yıldızım en çok parladığı an, İstanbul Fashion Week’teki ilk defilemdi sanırım. Daha sonrasında yaptığım televizyon programları da milyonlar tarafından tanınmama önayak oldu. Aile şirketinizde deneyim kazanıp sonra kendi yolunuzu çizdiniz ve kısa sürede büyük mesafe katettiniz. Şimdi hedefiniz nedir? Televizyon programı yapmaya devam etmek istiyorum. Hazır giyim markamı çok daha büyük kitlelere ulaştırmak adına çalışmalarım var. Ufak bütçelerle, ulaşılabilir koleksiyonlar çıkarmak istiyorum. Son zamanlarda üzerinde durduğum sosyal sorumluluk projelerine biraz daha önem vermek adına çalışmalarımız devam ediyor. Ayrıca başta Arap ülkeleri olmak üzere farklı ülkelerde satış noktalarımı arttırmayı hedeflediğim bir dönemdeyim. 96

You have displayed a magnificent fashion show in Cyprus with the sponsorship of Merit Hotels. You are also a Cypriot. Firstly, would you introduce yourself briefly? I have been in the fashion industry since childhood. I started fashion designing at the age of 21 when I was first defeated. I participate in Fashion Week every season and prepare my haute-couture designs as well as my readymade clothing collection which I named “Rashid”. As Raşit Bağzıbağlı, I serve in my showroom in Istanbul Levent. Can we listen to your surname’s interesting story? In fact, it comes from “tied on the neck”. It is pronounced this way because of the Cyprus accent. It started as a nickname about my grand-dad with his scarf tied to his neck and came up to this day. I guess growing up in colors and high quality fabrics that will take your mind away has not left you many choices for choosing a career. How and when did you decide to become a fashion designer? At the age of 12, I decided to join the fashion industry cause of my Gianni Versace admiration. Of course growing up among such colorful and beautiful fabrics is the greatest inheritance my family has left. Where did you get your professional training? Besides my stylistic, brand and marketing trainings, I have been in constant research, and of course the most important thing is that God gave me the chance to grow up within textile sector. Every fashion designer is unique. But there are those who inspire you, enlighten your way, aren’t there? Of course ... As a designer, there are people whose line and attitude I like, and so I’m affected. Gianni Versace’s design power, Valentino’s posture, Tom Ford’s marketing intelligence, and of course, and most importantly, fabric knowledge of my father, Derviş Bağzıbağlı. Once you have gained experience at your family business, you have drawn your own path and quickly made great distances. Now what is your goal? I want to continue making television programs. I have projects aiming to reach much larger garment brand. I want to make accessible collections for a small budget. We have been working to give more importance to the social responsibility projects I have been focusing on recently. I am also in a period where I aim to increase sales points in different countries, especially Arab countries.

RÖPORTAJ INTERWIEW Kıbrıs’ta polis teşkilatının üniformalarını tasarladınız. Başka hangi kurum için bunu yapmak isterdiniz? Kurumsal markalarla bir çalışma içerisinde olmak beni çok mutlu ediyor. Havayolu şirketi olsun, otel olsun bu yöndeki çalışmalarımı artırarak çok yakın zamandan yeni projeler içerisinde yer almayı hedefliyorum. Türkiye’nin en ünlü kadınları için kıyafetler tasarlıyorsunuz. Ve malum bizler genellikle iri göğüslü ve geniş kalçalı bir ırkız. Özel bir kıyafet için size geldiklerinde onlara neler tavsiye ediyorsunuz? İnsanın vücudunu tanıması ve vücut tipine göre giyinmesi çok önemli bir şey. Bizim de tasarımlarımızda yaptığımız şey vücut tipine bakarak güzel ve güçlü olan bölgeleri ön plana çıkartmak, rahat hissettirmeyen bölgeleri ise geri planda tutmak. Yaşına ve yerine göre giyinmeye katılıyor musunuz? Kesinlikle katılıyorum, her şey yaşında güzel. Bir kadının giyiminde sizden tam not alan detaylar nelerdir? Doğru yerde doğru şekilde giyindiği zaman benden her zaman iyi not alır. Abartı da olsa önemli değil, doğru yer doğru zaman.. Çalışmayı en çok sevdiğiniz renkler ve kumaşlar hangileri? Sarı ve şifon vazgeçilmezlerim! Tuba Büyüküstün ve Nurgül Yeşilçay’la çalıştığınız için Arap kadınlarından da ilgi görüyorsunuz. Onların kıyafet tercihinde sizi şaşırtan şeyler oluyor mu? Oluyor tabii, birçok insanın düşündüğünün aksine abartılı değiller, çok daha sadeler. İlk kez gelecek olanlara Kıbrıs’ta neler yapmalarını tavsiye edersiniz? Kıbrıs’a gelmişken Lefkoşa’da Büyükhan’ı görmelerini, Karpaz bölgesini ziyaret etmelerini ve yöresel yemeklerimizi tatmalarını tavsiye ederim.

When you look back at your career, which is the brightest moment of your star? I put my designer identity in the foreground, the moment my star shone most, I think it was the first fashion show in Istanbul Fashion Week. The TV programs I did later provided me the opportunity to be recognized by the millions. You designed the uniforms of the police in Cyprus. If so, what other institution would you like to do the same? I am very happy to be working with corporate brands. For an airline company or for a hotel, I am aiming to take part in new projects in the near future by increasing my work in this area. You are designing clothes for the most famous women of Turkey. And we know that we are usually a big breed and a large humpy race. What advice do you give them when they come to you for a special outfit? It is very important for a person to recognize his body and dress it according to his body type. What we do in our designs is to look at the body type and make beautiful and strong areas foreground and hide the areas that do not feel comfortable. Do you agree with the definition of “dressing according to age and place”? I totally agree, everything is really nice on the related age. What are the details of a woman’s clothing that take full notes from you? I always give good grades when people are dressed up accordingly in the right place. It does not matter if there is an exaggeration, as long as it is the right place, the right time… Which colors and fabrics do you like most to work with? Yellow and chiffon are indispensable for me! You also create interest for Arab women for working with Tuba Büyüküstün and Nurgül Yeşilçay. Are there things that surprised you in their choice of clothes? There are, of course… they are not exaggerated, as many people think, they are much more simple. What do you recommend to those who will come for the first time in Cyprus? In Cyprus, I would recommend seeing Büyükhan in Nicosia, visiting the Karpaz region and tasting local food.

Mogren Beach Şehir merkezindeki Mogren Beach’e “Old Town”ı geçtikten hemen sonra karşınıza çıkacak patikalardan ulaşabilirsiniz. Dağın ve denizin ufukta kesiştiği bu patikada yürümek çok keyifli. Bir tünelle birbirine bağlanan iki ayrı kumsaldan oluşan Mogren Beach, toplamda 350 metre uzunluğunda… Plaj, adını hemen açıklarda kaza yapan ve kurtulduktan sonra Budva’da St. Antonio’ya adanmış bir kilise yaptıran İspanyol denizci Magrini’den almış. You can reach Mogren Beach in the city center right after you cross the “Old Town”. It is very pleasant to walk on this footpath where the mountains and the sea meet on the horizon. Mogren Beach, consisting of two separate beaches connected by a tunnel, is 350 meters long in total ... The beach took its name from the Spanish marine Magrini, who built a church dedicated to St. Antonio after he has rescued from an accident that happened to him in this sea. Mogren Beach; for its location, sandy beaches and sunshine beaches carries the title “most attractive beach in Montenegro”. Pebbles and sea glasses with perfect shapes that you will see in Becici are unique to this beach. The stones that have been shaped by the sea for centuries and settled on the land by the tides have various colors such as white, gray, brown, green and even brick red and attract collectors.
