THE FUTURE OF BATTERY AND ENERGY-STORAGE PRODUCTION Following the success of this event in 2012, electrical energy storage 2013 is being held in conjunction with the international trade fair productronica from November 12–15. This will allow ees 2013 to benefit from strong synergy effects. productronica gives ees access to a unique circle of visitors that includes more than 38,500 international professionals who are interested in production. ees 2013 depicts the entire value chain for mobile and stationary energy-storage solutions and their production. ees 2013 is the perfect place to meet and the right platform for presenting your products and solutions that pertain to the topic of electrical energy storage.

WHY BEING THERE IS WORTHWHILE ees is the industry gathering for suppliers, manufacturers and users of electrical and mobile energy-storage solutions. The spectrum ranges from material processing and cell manufacturing to batteries and other energy-storage solutions and their diverse applications. The trade fair is accompanied by a first rate program of conferences and forums on topics that pertain to highenergy storage that are organized in conjunction with our partners, ZVEI, VDMA, batteryuniversity.eu and iwb.

Bottom line: ees is an independent platform for presenting the entire value chain for electrical storage solutions that is embedded in the international trade fair productronica.

93 PERCENT OF ALL VISITORS BELIEVE THAT EES* WILL BE JUST AS OR MORE IM

Clemens Disch, Area Sales Manager of Werner Mathis AG, agrees: “This is a very innovative trade fair with a great deal of future potential.” Andreas Breitkopf, Business Unit Manager Power Control Solutions Division at AEG Power Solutions, also took stock: “We are very surprised at how positive the response is. Holding the fair in conjunction with electronica certainly contributed to these good results. During the last few days, we had a number of interesting discussions during which we introduced our energy-storage solutions. We will definitely be back next year.”

VISITOR SURVEY: 84% ... gave the event a rating of good, very good or excellent.

90% ... or 9 out of 10 visitors would recommend ees to others.

66% ... participated exclusively in ees, and not at any other event.

51% ... are definitely planning to attend the next ees.

15% ... of visitors find ees interesting as an exhibitor.

The majority of visitors are positive in their assessment of the current economic situation in the industry. And two-thirds feel that it will at least stay the same or even improve.

Approximately 50% of all visitors hold management positions and work in the research, development and design sectors. Most visitors came from the electronics or the industrial, systems or mechanical engineering sectors.

41% were from abroad— 88% of them were from Europe. * Visitor survey by Gelszus Messe-Marktforschung

PORTANT IN THE FUTURE FUTURE TOPIC: THE ENERGY TURNAROUND Producing energy from renewable sources such as photovoltaics not only calls for efficient transmission grids, but for intermediate storage capacities, as well. Highenergy storage solutions for stationary use will play a major role here, particularly in the case of decentralized energy supplies.

FUTURE TOPIC: ELECTROMOBILITY When it comes to electromobility, batteries, electricalenergy storage devices and power electronics play a key role because they are so influential in determining a system’s performance, reliability and price. This is only possible if everyone involved along the process chain, i.e. manufacturers, machine builders and the research sector, works together.

FUTURE TOPIC: FUNDING INITIATIVES In May of 2011, Germany’s Federal Ministries of the Economy and Technology, of the Environment, Natural Conservation and Reactor Safety, and of Education and Research introduced the “Energy Storage Funding Initiative.” In the first phase (which ends in 2014), up to EUR 200 million will be made available to research projects to develop a wide range of storage technologies for electricity, thermal energy and other energy sources. The federal government also passed a new government program for electromobility that calls for research funding for the electromobility sector to double to one billion euros by 2013.
