INDUSTRIES Copper is used in all kinds of industries all over the world. In the shapes of bus bars, braids, wires, tubes, plates etc. copper is used in building construction, power generation and transmission, electronic product manufacturing, and the production of industrial machinery and transportation vehicles. Copper wiring and plumbing is used in heating and cooling systems, and in telecommunications used every day in homes and businesses. Copper plays an important role in renewable energy systems, since it is the highest rated thermal and electrical conductivity among the engineering metals. The total amount of copper in a wind turbine is more than 3,5 tonnes pr. megawatt. By using copper instead of other lower electrical energy-efficient metal conductors, less electricity needs to be generated to satisfy a given

power demand. In addition, copper is one of most recyclable metals available. Copper is an essential component in motors, generators, transformers, wiring, radiators, connectors, brakes, bearings etc. The average car contains 1.5 kilometers of copper wire, and the total amount of copper ranges from 20 kg in small cars to 45 kg in luxury and hybrid vehicles. The excellent alloying properties of copper have made it invaluable when combined with other metals, such as zinc (to form brass), tin (to form bronze), or nickel. These alloys have desirable characteristics and, depending on their composition, are developed for highly specialized appli cations. For example, copper-nickel alloy is applied to the hulls of ships because it does not corrode in seawater and reduces the adhesion of marine life.

SOLID BUS BARS Copper bus bars are used in electrical installations for distributing power from a supply point to a number of output circuits. They can be used in a variety of configurations, ranging from vertical risers and current carrying over distances, for instance to each floor of a multi-storey building, or from the top of a wind turbine. Copper is the optimal metal for current carrying bus bars, due to its highly conducting properties. Copper ensures a long and reliable service life, resulting in the lowest lifetime cost. Copper has low electrical and thermal resistance, high mechanical strength in tension and good resistance to fatigue failure. At Metalcenter, we can supply bus bars made from all alloys, and we can deliver according to customer-specific demands and designs. We supply bus bars in all sizes and shapes, with or without insulation. Should you require surface treatment like tinning or silvering we supply. We can deliver everything from a single bus bar as a prototype, to multiple bus bars or we supply as kits. At Metalcenter, we have standard copper bars in all sizes from 5x5mm to 160x10mm in stock, enabling us easy access to the raw materials, and making us able to deliver even the most complicated bus bars within a short time frame.

FLEXIBLE CONNECTORS MADE FROM STRIPS/LAMELS Manufactured by bringing together copper strips with a thickness of ≥ 0.10mm. The contact surface is made according to customer specifications, ex. press-welded or riveted.

CABLES & WIRES Metalcenter supplies a wide variety of customized cables & wires – mainly from copper, but also aluminum, bronze or other metals. The cables & wires supply is divided into: • Single or multiple wires (in round, square or flat wire form or special wire-profile) - primarily for electrical conductivity applications. • Insulated round/flat wires – often used for motors, generators and transformers • Flexible & Special cables - for low-medium and high-voltage applications fx Lightning protection. • Cable kits – to ease assembly – often supplied with copper bus bars & other accessories. Pre-assembled cable kits are used for energy control and data cables for wind turbines or other applications. The customized cables & wires can be: • Coated (tinned, silvered or nickel-coated) • Pre-connectorized with all-power cables • Customized packaging (standard is drums and coils)

TUBES & PIPES Metalcenter is one of Scandinavia’ largest supplier of standard copper tubes – for plumbing, refrigeration/ heating and medical purposes – along with other industrial applications such as solar. We also supply customized tubes – in copper, brass, bronze and other metals. The customized tubes are produced from special requirements, such as: • Specially cleaned, treated or plastic-coated tubes (fx medical use) • Extruded, drawn – and seamless tubes • High-pressure tubes (fx new CO2-installations) • Insulated tubes – to isolate heat, cooling or insulate electricity. Tubes can be manufactured acc. to specific customer needs in form of: • Tubes Bended or Cut-to-length • Tube Bundles • Finned tubes – used fx for condensation or evaporation in the air condition applications • Tube kits – various tubes packed in kits to ease an assembly installation in any types of applications.

SHORT CIRCUIT RINGS & ROTOR BARS At Metalcenter, we are highly experienced in supplying semi-finished and finished products for electro-mechanical applications, in particular for manufacturers of electric motors and the power generation sector.
