Christopher Joseph Ward, good known as C.J. Ramone was the bassoonist of the last alignment of the mythical band The Ramones. About their step for this band, the disintegration of the same one, their career in solitary and on the visit that he carried out to our country he comments us exclusively. By: Alejandro PĂŠrez
CJ, Greetings and be welcome to this Cuban rock magazine. Is a pleasure can do it this interview. Thanks for the support. How do you come to The Ramones? In July 1989 I got a phone call from a friend who was playing drums for Joey Ramones brother Mickey Leigh. He told me the Ramones were auditioning bass players at S I R Studio in NYC. At the time I received this phone call I was still in the USMC so my first thought was it would be a waste of time for me to go. I decided to go down just to meet the band, I got into my pickup truck and drove to Manhattan. That it means for you to be in a group like The Ramones? Because I was a fan for many years before I got into the band, it really was an honor to help them continue on for seven years after I became a member. They were the most successful years of their career. How did you feel when this mythical group arrived to its end? I was of course sad that it was coming to an end, but it was time for them to retire. Joey was very tired by this point and it was difficult for him to tour. Johnny also had had enough and was looking forward to a new life. After the disintegration of The Ramones. Was difficult for you create your own band? It was not difficult to create a new band, but it was difficult to balance being a father and touring. I had started a family immediately after the Ramones retired and my oldest Liam was diagnosed with autism before he was two years old. I left music to take care of my children and enjoy my family. How many CD do you have made until now? And videos? I have released 4 albums to date. The first during the late 90s with my band Los Gusanos, the second in 2007 with my second band Bad Chopper, then in 2012 I released my first record as CJ Ramone titled Reconquista and my last record out on Fat Wreck Chords Last Chance to Dance in 2014. Official videos, just one for Won’t Stop Swinging..
In the year 2001 you rejected an offer to be part of Metallica. Why? Do you regret to have made this decision? As I mentioned before, my son Liam had been diagnosed with autism. While I was honored to be asked to play with Metallica, My priority was my family. I have to say I would have loved to be a part of that band; I was a fan for a very long time and even try to get an audition when Cliff Burton had died. How is your relation with the ex-Ramones that still alive? I don't have much contact with Richie, Marky, or Clem Burke. I had contacted each one of them and asked if they would be interested in getting together to play, but they all were busy with their own projects. At this point I am focused on my own music and keeping the Ramones legacy alive. How do you see the scene punk today compared with the time of The Ramones? I find it to be very similar, the scene is small again and there are some good bands starting to emerge.
What did it mean to be punk in the years 80 in United States? It depends on which coast you live on. The west coast has always been a very political scene. A lot of antiestablishment, antiauthority attitude. The east coast scene was more connected to the art scene and a bit more fun. The United States is a big country and the coasts are very different! Can we speak of “punk in the musical scene today?
As long as there is teenagers who feel angry an alienated, there will be punk. Although the standard of living is much better now for kids than it was in the 70s, there is a biological change that teenagers go through that has more to do with hormones and teenage angst then it do with living conditions. You are the first American band of punk that came to Cuba. Why you decided came to Cuba? I have been an Ernest Hemingway fan since I was young. I've wanted to visit since reading about his time in Cuba. Besides that, we are neighbors. It is natural to wonder what goes on in the home of your neighbor! What is your opinion about the Cuban public? How you see the scene of rock in Cuba? I have learned after traveling the world for 25 years, that no matter how great the geographical distance, or how different the culture, the rock, Metal, and punk scenes all over the world are nearly identical. Kids all over the world want the same things. They want to belong, they want to have fun, they want to voice their opinion and feel like someone else understands and is listening. Music magnifies the things we have in common and makes us realize the difference is between us don't mean much. Future plans? I plan on recording a new record this year, touring, and finishing I'll book I've been working on for A long time. I hope to be able to continue until 2020! Will we be able to see you here again? I sincerely hope so. Before to finish. Two questions. How do you see your future in the rock? How do you see the future of the rock music? If you are asking how I will be remembered after I retire, I hope to be remembered for helping to keep the Ramones alive and for keeping their legacy alive after they were gone. As to the future of rock music, I think it will go on for a very long time.

Stoner is partly a Cuban band that has known how to be located inside the best in the rock in Cuba with the step of the time, to the work that they carry out and to the exceptional quality of its members. But let us let them to be them who tell us all envelope the band. By: Alejandro PĂŠrez.
When and were arises the band? Who are their actually members? The band was formed in the 2012 and at the moment it is a "power trio" formed by Tiago Felipe, (guitars and vowel), Angel Daniel (bass and choirs) and Osmar GĂłmez (drummer and choirs). Those that have followed Stoner from the beginning have been given bill that the band has changed its members in several occasions. To that this is? To make Rock in Cuba is very difficult; it is a very hard profession that of the musician rockero, the satisfactions don't come in form of improvements economic or financial and a lot of people he/she simply has to take other roads to make their life. On the other hand, for us it is very important the commitment with the project Stoner, this it is a long term project and of a lot of interpretive rigor, regrettably, not all those that have happened for here they have had the aptitude or the attitude that we need, but it is worth the explanation that all, those that are and those that not, we have very good relationships and we continue being friends. Who many CDs do you have made until now? And videos made? From the one "Fuera del Camino" of the 2013, we have other two EP and a new one CD ready. Videos are several in study and several but of live presentations. What it meant for Stoner to have won in the 2014 the prize Cubadisco in the category of Metal?
A great happiness and a recognition to the carried out work. Really, the one "Fuera del Camino" was a CD to position us in the means, everything was very quick, with several topics that Maykel Bryan brought of its work in solitary and most of the inspiration of the -contributed group for Tiago Felipe in its majority and running against clock for the delivery of the competition, but it left and it filled us with pride. Why is the characterized?
music
of
Stoner
Our music doesn't consider it as something conventional, it moves among the Metal Core , Metal Progressive, New American Metal, etc. but very difficult to classify in an alone one I sĂşb-generate, the melody in the voices is a premise and we accentuate its force with technical of having rasped, many symphonic arrangements help in the atmosphere of the topics and we work each instrument to take to the maximum the level of virtuosity of each one without ending up complicating the final product a lot so that it arrives from the first impression. Which are the main influences of the band? Among our influences bands like Avenged are Sevenfold, Memphis May Fire, Carajo, Bring Me The Horizon, Buried In Verona, Dream Theater and others. Why did they dare to sing in Spanish and not in English as most of the Cuban rocker bands? Is it a challenge that we assume, Spanish it is our maternal language and is it I eat better we can send the message, and yes it sounds well... why not??? Last year they were chosen to participate in the second edition of the Big Homeland, festival that took place this year their third edition and in which you participate again. What did it mean for Stoner having been chosen again for this edition? Another great opportunity, the Big Homeland is a festival that it goes growing and in very little time it should become in relating of the rock of all Latin America. That they count on us it is a pride and also a commitment, the bands that visit us are of first level, some established ones and other emergent ones as us - but all with a great professional level. What opinion does you deserve them that The Rolling Stones has decided to offer a super gratuitous concert in our country and the visits of figures of the world rock as Ozzy Osbourne and Bon Jovi? In this point the emotions are divided, on one hand, it was tremendous that of the concert of the Rolling Stones in the Sport City, we enjoy it very much, not alone for the tremendous level interpretive or the technological scaffolding, but
also for the atmosphere and the energy in the publish... But, regrettably -always there is a but - many musicians of the gender are relegated, the personal, logical and necessary exchange didn't exist in none of the cases and in that way we lost a tremendous opportunity of being recognized and that all the looks from the foreigner noticed of the movement and the -emergent and established valid proposals - of our country, Cuba is not single Tobacco, Rum, Sauce and Jazz. How do you see the rock at the moment in Cuba? Do you believe that a censorship exists toward the same one, so much on the part of the main authorities as of the promotion means (newspaper, TV and radio)? Officially it cannot be said that is a censored gender, the Cuban Agency of Rock exists, in the radio and the television is specialized programs where until the Metal extreme has found its space. But it is also very certain that the gender in yes it goes for a dead end alley, the national proposals -especially the bands of own repertoire - they don't have opportunity some of arriving at the market, in other words, a market doesn't exist for the Rock that is made in Cuba, as they can have it other goods like the Jazz, the Trove or until the same ReguetĂłn and the international projection is practically null, when not having back of record or producers, it is very difficult that has access to that until the same Cuban public that you this making in our own patio. What opinion does it deserve you the paper that at the moment plays the Cuban Agency of Rock? Does it defend or not the Agency to the bands of the whole country? Firstly, if you are a musician of Metal, with the minimum aspiration of developing your abilities, ideas or so at least your dreams, you have to belong to the Agency, that is something outside of debate, you cannot be outside. Then, the valuation of the work that they carry out in the Agency, doesn't consider ethical although in many occasions we have suffered for the opposite - to criticize at third in these means, but if we want to applaud MarĂa Gattorno -its director - for the difficult work and the tremendous weight that it takes on its shoulders. What future plans does Stoner have? Some CD in production? Of the short term plans of alone Stoner we can advance that we have clever the new disk and that it will leave very soon, it is a material that we consider a lot but direct and worked, we have had more time and it has been worthwhile, we are very proud of the result and alone we hope the public receives it for well and that we can play it abroad for the whole country and other scenarios.
One year ago I interviewed to this Spanish band. In that occasion they talked each other about their beginnings and other questions. Now I bring them to these pages again so that they count us exclusively through Manu Acilu, guitar soloist, all the related with their most recent titled CD "Silence” and on other current topics. By: Alejandro Pérez.
Let us make some history. When and where Death & Legacy arises? Who are their current members? Has there been some change in the alignment? Carlos, Jesus, José, Hugo and Ely put the band to work in 2013 in the city of Zamora. The only change with regard to the initial formation is the arrival of Manu in 2015, since Jóse had to abandon the band for personal reasons. Let speak of their most recent titled CD "Silence": How was it the edition process and recording? It was really well. The recording work became very pleasant, since we counted with Dan Díez, of RockLab Studios, to the controls. We also try to take all quite prepared one for not leaving swims at random in the study. How many songs does bring? 10 tracks. Invited artists? Not in this occasion.
Some video to promote the same one? Yes, the topic that we choose for the one Sails it is "What never will be" and it is hung in Youtube. We are very proud of the result of the videoclip, we believe that it has put to the band in another level. Mario's great work Ruiz of Krea Films. Do you keep the same style that in the previous works? In general lines, yes. Although we have bet for more secondary melodies in the guitars and we also try to take care more the vocal lines to obtain a rounder result. Thematic that approach in the songs? From the beginning they speak in general of the death, as such, what leaves you, what you leave... In the first CD everything was a little more allegorical, and in this it is quite more intimate and more explicit. Plans to promote the CD? Good, apart from the videoclip and of giving war in the social nets we are rotating enough, that always makes him to be spoken of you. How was received the CD by the specialized critic as for the public? At the moment we cannot be happier. The critic has received the CD well and on the part of the public we are receiving many good words. I believe that the thing goes for good road. This year Death & did Legacy turn 3 years of having created, enough time if it looks at me in a positive way and as all band they have had good and bad moments How they would value the professional acting of the band during this whole time? What do they believe that they lack to improve? Acquired experiences? What can the public follower of Death wait & Legacy (including me) for next years? Every time that you face the composition and recording of a disk, every time that you take it to the direct one, each trip, each person that you know in the road contributes something new. In 3 years of trajectory they have happened to us many things that they have made us grow. But those 3 years they also show us things in those that it is still necessary to improve. "Silence" is, in my opinion, a step in the correct address, although I eat musicians with restlessness that we are, we cannot be alone in that. For next years we hope to offer direct with the biggest force that it can show himself in a scenario and of course we will work in new topics for the future that we wait they are above what we already have. I know that recently they finished a tour with the Canadian The Agonist, a band of which I have been able to listen their music and they are brilliant.
What did it represent for you to share scenario with a band like this? Where were you presented? How was the welcome that they had on the part of the public? It was incredible. To share scenario, hotels, restaurants and experiences with a band consolidated as The Agonist are an entire luxury. We rotate for the whole peninsula, Barcelona, Castellรณn, Seville, Lisbon, Madrid and Bilbao. More than 4000 kilometers in one week, and in general the public's welcome was very good. This experience has surely made us grow a lot more than what we waited.
I know of Duke's Productions work and I know that it is brilliant. How do you feel inside this label? Do they support you to the maximum? They are of the most professional thing that you can be in this world. The truth is that it gives us a lot of security to be supported by them. A while ago in the noted magazine Metal Hammer read an article on the women in the Metal and I surprised myself when I saw that they mentioned to Death & Legacy and to its vocalist Ely. How did you react before this news? What did it represent for Death & Legacy to appear in Metal Hammer? It is one of those things that gives you an energy bonus to continue. When you are devoted to the music you are many obstacles in the road and it can sometimes end up being of the more desalentador. When you find out that you will appear in Metal Hammer the motivation it is shot. You think: "Hey, will something be making well, no"? and does that make you to believe more in that faces and to toss the rest. I knew about this band when I read on them in the noted magazine of Spanish rock The Heavy. I decided to contact with them and they consented to be interviewed. We will know all envelope the beginnings of this band, trajectory and on their most recent discographic production. An interview where each member contributed By: Alejandro Pérez
Greetings to the members of Ossyris and be welcome to this Cuban rock magazine. It is a pleasure to be able to interview them. To begin. Why the name of Ossyris? Some relationship with the Egyptian god? The name was happened listening the topic "La momia" of Tierra Santa, in a fragment they mention to Osiris, the Egyptian god, and we liked like name for the group. Then we decide to write it OSSYRIS to give him a more personal touch. When and where the band arises? Who are their current members? Of where they proceed? To that it is owed that there has been so much change in the alignment of the band? The band arose makes already some years, in the 2003, of the hand of Mikel (Guitar) and Javi (drummer), like they habitually arise these things: 2 friends that join to try to mount a group. At the moment we are: Jonathan Lucer (voice), Mikel of the Heras and Gallant Iker (guitars), Jonathan González (bass) and Javi Márquez (drummer). We all are of the Basque Country, except Jonathan (bass) that came some years ago from Tenerife.
The formation changes, fundamentally they have been to have other you interest musical or for lack of time to dedicate to the band. Fortunately, we have never had conflicts with this type of situations. How would you define their music? Heavy metal or Power metal, fundamentally classic but with some modern touch. Which have the main influences of the band been? As in all the groups each one has their style and likes, but in general groups like Earth Santa, Warcry, Saratoga, Hammerfall, Disturbed, Iron Maiden, etc. Fundamentally classic groups of the Spanish heavy, but little by little we have gone incorporating other influences. Do comment us a little about your last CD "Renacer". How was it the edition process and recording? How many songs does it bring? Thematic that approach in the songs? Some invited artist? Some promotional video? How was this album received as much for the critic as for the public? We record the CD in summer of last year 2015.Son 12 songs, some compound ones in the same year, and others that we already had thought for enough time. Once compound the songs, we dedicate enough time for the details, guitar harmonies, choirs, etc., as much in the local as in the study. As for thematic, there is some everything: we have letters based on historical facts or literary works, but also others that speak day by day of feelings or personal experiences of the. We have three collaborations: Aroa (vocalist in Tenebra) it collaborates in the topic "Anhelo", Mikel Bizar (former vocalist IdiBihotz, Jare, etc) in "GureLehia" and Pedro J. Monge (guitarist of Vhaldemar and producing of the CD) it collaborates with some guitar arrangements in "Ultimo Adios". The experience has been brilliant, as much to Aroa as to Pedro we knew them off ago a lot and it was a pleasure to be able to have two good friends like collaborators and regarding Mikel it was one enjoyed to have a vocalist with which we have grown listening its CDs of IdiBihotz and to demonstrate us that in spite of its great trajectory he is a very near uncle. The topic of the videoclip, in its moment decides to postpone it to center us in the presentation of the disk, but yes we have an idea in mind that we hope to be able to carry out in next months. As for the critics, the truth is that the new disk has liked a lot, so much to the followers of the band like the webs and publications that have contacted with us, so much of Spain as of Latin America. Besides being very satisfied at personal level, the welcome has been very good.
I see that in this CD you include a topic in Basque. Why do you decide to make a topic in this language? It was an idea that we had for some time in mind. We wanted to make a topic on the music and what means for us and we found to make it in the language of our earth. The title ("GureLehia") it means "Our passion". Somehow, we wanted to make a small homage to the bands of here, with those that we have grown. It also has a style more rocker, a little next to the sound of these groups.
Apart from "Renacer" what other CD conform the catalog of the band?? “Se Acerca El Final” of 2008, and the EP “Nuevo Mundo” of 2012. Have you had the opportunity to participate at some time in some festival, so much national as international? With which bands have shared scenario? We have not had the luck to still play in festivals, it is something with what we all dream. In fact, this year we have been very close. In all ways, we have had the opportunity to share scenario with big bands like Vhaldemar or TAO, and the experience has been very pleasing. The same thing has happened when we have left to play outside of the Basque Country, the welcome has been stupendous and the public has made us feel like at home. How do they see in these moments the scene of the rock in Spain? We are not very optimistic with this topic. For the big means, the rock practically doesn't exist, and at municipal level, as for programs of parties and other events, it is difficult to find rock groups. Neither there is a clear bet for the beginner groups. Almost everything moves to "small scale", that is to say, bars,
local small and people that carries out a great effort to bet for the rock. And if we speak of metal‌ more complicated still (laughs). What opinion does it deserve you the paper that it play the rock magazines like form of promoting to the rock bands so much well-known as not very well-known? To the thread of what we commented before, is admirable the work that it make the magazines and webs that work without spirit of lucre and taking out time of where they can to support to the rock bands. We have made some how many interviews for this type of means and we are very grateful for their support, since it has been good us to arrive to people that would not have known us of not being for them. This 2016 turned 13 years of having created, enough time if one looks in a positive way. How do they remember the beginnings of the band? Did you think that you will arrive so far? What have you meant these 13 years for the band? What do you believe that have to improve or to change? What can the public follower of Ossyris wait in a future? It seems lies that it have already spent so many years (laughs). In the bottom everything began like an idea among friends, to join with people and to pass it well playing the music that we like. And in spite of the formation changes and of the problems that go arising, we have always maintained that initial spirit. Thanks to it, and to the conviction to take out the group ahead, we take 13 years like band. There are always many things that to improve, so much in the individual work of each one (none of the 5 is virtuous, the things like they are) like in the composition. We won't radically change style that nobody gets scared (laughs), but yes we want to take a risk a little more, to prove new things and to see what we can get. In certain way, it is what has happened with Reborning we have included things that we had not made previously, and we are very satisfied with the result. As for future plans, we are already beginning to compose from face to the next CD, while we continue with the last concerts of presentation of "Renacer". We invite people to that it is attentive to the novelties in our Facebook. Do you know something on the rock that is made in Cuba? Being sincere, the truth is that not. Many news of the Cuban musical scene don't arrive, it is a pity. Fortunately, through Internet it is simpler to be able to discover new groups. If at some time you were given the opportunity to come to Cuba would you make it? We would love it! The problem is always the‌ it would suppose a very important expense and it is complicated that the promoter covers those costs.
For our part, we are wanting to be able to play in any place in which there are people with desires of listening to us. Well, before to finish, something that you want to say to the Cuban public and to the followers of this magazine. Many thanks to you, Alejandro, for this interview, we hope people from Cuba like our music, and God willing we can play there someday. What began as a project in solitary became a band whose musical proposal is guided to the melodic rock sung in Castilian. But let us let that Jordi Castila, singer, guitar and composer of the group who it puts us to the current about Carta Magna. By: Alejandro PĂŠrez
Greetings to the members of Jordi Castilla & Carta Magna and be welcome to this Cuban rock magazine. It is a pleasure to be able to interview them. The pleasure without a doubt is our, many thank you for your interest, as well as to give us the possibility to give to know our musical proposal there in Cuba. To begin. Where and when the band arises? Who are their current members? Of where they come? This begins as a project in solitary my (Jordi Castilla), after several scale models finally published a CD that was called Carta Magna. For the presentation in direct of this disk, a band was made that came consolidating more or less in a stable way almost without being realized, for we decide it to put a name to this band and we were happened to use the name of the disk: "Carta Magna" The following recording was our first work as band it integrates If you are here there in 2012. At the present time the band is composed by Pablo EstĂŠvez to the battery, Marc Cirera to the bass, Daniel Hidalgo and Ana Perea to the choirs and a servant, Jordi Castilla to the voice and guitars. The past May 20 took place in the Room Sarau of Seville the presentation of their last titled production you "Mirate". How was it the edition process and recording of this disk? How many do tracks brings? Invited artists? Some videotape to promote the same one? We have been approximately a year and half with the composition and recording of this disk, we have worked in different cities and studies, although the final weight has taken it to him Vicente you Fry of Almavi Studies, in Seville that we believe that he has made a spectacular work.
The disk has twelve tracks, although one of them repeats to the being a version of the song "La ultima cancion" to duet with Rafa Martin and another cut is a small poetry by way of introduction. We have the luck to have Rafa Martin to the production of one of the topics and that he also sings a version to duet of this, Pablo Navarrese also collaborates in the production, it puts guitars Pete Lesperance (Harem Scarem) in a song, José Ángel López (The 3 reasons), Manuel Iñigo (Katie King). Links for three videos lyrics del último disco. “La última canción” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9nlFWfEFP-Y “Mírate” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wT23mitU2PI “Dos guerreras” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yx_ykrqS9RI How was the welcome of this new disk as much for the public as for the specialized critic? We already had a very good welcome of the previous work, but with this expectations are overcoming, people's feedback with our letters is being very enriching and the specialized critic is being really good. How many disks, apart from you "Mirate", conform the discography of Jordi & Carta Magna? With the band to the complete one record the disk four years ago If you are here... here I leave you a video clip of this disk, of the song broken Image that we wait that you like. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=os4dIGoOPxA) Which have the main influences of the band been? We move around the melodic Rock and the AOR, therefore for sure you find influences of groups like Journey, Bon Jovi, Rafa Martin, Blue Blood or Meatloaf. We give a lot of importance to the letters and there we try to drink of diverse styles although for sure near artists influence to the Rap like it can be Nach, the Chojin or ZPU. How would you define you music? After all it is direct Rock loaded with melody and of emotional message. Thematic that approach in their songs? As I have commented the letters before it is something of a lot of importance for Jordi Castile & Great Letter, we try to transfer potent emotional experiences as well as to load our texts of emotional and sentimental content. We treat topics of social court, in those that we try to describe the problem that surrounds us.
If there is something very difficult for all band it is the beginning. How do you remember the beginnings of the band? Your first performance in the scenario? Something in specific? Jajajajaja is always in our beginnings!!!! The most important in the beginnings is nowadays the load of illusion and the pineapple of friends that it composes the band, that concept (although with changes in people of the band) it continues intact, when we stop to have the illusion of these beginnings, it will be moment of passing page.
Have you had the opportunity to participate at some time in some rock festival in their country or outside of this? With what bands have you shared scenario? We have shared poster with The Val, Taifa, Empyrica, or Vanishine among others. How do you see in these moments the scene of the rock in Spain? The musical panorama and in short of Rock in Spain is devastating and if we go down to the south (we are from Seville) maybe a little worse. There are not big groups that generate rock currents among the youths, it is very difficult to sell Cds and the attendance to the concerts it is to the drop... it is not a good scenario.... but with it... we continue trying to enjoy. What opinion does it deserve you the paper that it play the rock magazines like form of promoting to the rock bands? It is essential that they exist means that serve from bed to the bands to give to know their music, means with approach that you/they contribute a specialized content, of quality and attractiveness for their readers..
In the rock I believe that we have reconquer to the youth again, in it we all have our work quota but the magazines without a doubt have an essential work to show a committed movement and transgressor like it is this. Future plans? That our songs arrive far the more ones possible, to connect with the biggest quantity in people with our letters, meantime... to overturn us in direct to be able to transmit our message face to face to people. Do you know something on the rock that is made in Cuba? I am, of Andalusia (the south of Spain) here the flamenco fills the musical offer, killing many times other expressions, like it can be the Rock. He/she gives me the impression that in Cuba it can pass something similar with the Sauce and the Latin Jazz, Cuba has fame of having the best musicians in the world, when I have crossed with some of them it has always confirmed that fame, you have a great musical formation that we envy. Inside the rock, I know the experience of Havana Blues, apart from this (that I don't know until point will be originally Cuban) I consider myself very ignorant. If at some time you were given the opportunity to come to Cuba would they make it? Don't fit you the smallest doubt. Well, before finishing, something that you want to say to the Cuban public and all the followers of this magazine. That the Rock is very important that is able to get up and to lean on in any moment of our life that although we are very far we can share the message from the music that we want to strain us in your musical moments and to share with you a thousand histories!! That the Rock is a movement and an universal message and that supporting to means like this magazine can make it more important, enriching and genuine. Taking like influences bands of the years 80 and 90 Angulo Muerto, a band that was given to know through its participation in rock competitions arise. But let us let them to be their members who count us all envelope this band. By: Alejandro PĂŠrez
Greetings to the members of Angulo Muerto and be welcome to this Cuban rock magazine. It is a pleasure to be able to interview them. The pleasure is our!! it is a honor to be able to cross the puddle, although it is via online and through an interview. To begin. Why the name of Angulo Muerto? Some meaning especially? The name of Angulo Muerto arose in the most spontaneous way: the members founders were thinking name and suddenly to one of them was happened without more. Some of those members are no longer in the group, but the name continues and it continues with us. As I have understood the band was given to know through the participation in competitions. Could you comment us a little on this? How much did this represent for the band? We don't know how it will be there in Cuba, but here in Spain it is necessary to have much care with the topic of the competitions of bands. Us for luck, we have presented ourselves to few and they have almost always left well us, but they don't make us a lot of grace. At the beginning, when you don't take a lot of trajectory you catch with desires the participation in competitions, more if salts winner of some of them as it passed us. But as you continue participating in more they are removed the desires of aiming you to more, for some causes or others. But in general, we used to leave very stopped of all the competitions to those that we have gone.
Who are the current members of the band? Of where they proceed? At the moment Angulo Muerto is Rubén Díaz (drummer), Urban Álvaro (main voice), Rodrigo Cotobal and Tomás Bernal (guitars) and Claudia Cristóbal (bass). We are all of Alcalá of Hayfields, a city that is near Madrid. How many disks do you have made up to now? How was it the edition process and recording? Some carried out video? Serious disks of alone study have one, the one that we come presenting called "Hotel rock and roll" now that can be in Spotify and almost in their entirety in our channel of Youtube. The disk was recorded in the study The low Bunker Pablo's production Alonso, bear of Pignoise (a quite well-known group here in Spain). thanks to the help and Pablo's advice the disk came out well and we are very satisfied with the result. We were almost nine months among recording of the topics, masterization and other, but the wait was worthwhile. Alone Videoclips has one, and it is of the topic included in the CD "Asuntos propios" that can also be in our channel of Youtube How would you define you music? Our style is the rock / rock and roll, is what we attempt that they are our topics, although then depending on the day that we have when we compose a song more rock, more heavy, it can leave more ballad… everything depends. We don't like to stick to a style. Which have the main influences of the band been? Because each one of the components has very different likes, so that is noticed when elaborating the topics. Some like it more the heavy and the thrash, to other the rock and roll, but good, we don't fight a lot to see that gender prevails above others when composing. Tell us on the tour "De habitacion en habitacion". In that places of Spain have been presented up to now? How has the welcome been on the part of the public?
Unfortunately and with the means that we have, we have been able to rotate enough the disk for the Community of Madrid and near surroundings (Salamanca, Avila, Guadalajara, Cuenca‌). We had loved to visit more places of Spain but with the means that we have it has been impossible. The answer on the part of the public has been positive: in the concert of presentation of the CD we fill a room with a seating capacity of more than 500 people, so something would have to like them. Have you had the opportunity to share scenario with some representative band of Spain at some time? The truth is that it was a honor and a very big illusion when we could share scenario with Burning in Guadalajara. When we leave to play and we saw that whole people (that although they was waiting to see Burning they will also listen us) and to be able to share moments in the "backstage" with Johny Burning was incredible, we pass it very well. We have also shared charts with the mythical group Kick in Holes of the Thorn (à vila).
This year the band turned 6 years of having created, enough time if one looks in a positive way. How would you value this whole time like band? What do you believe that you should change or to improve? Acquired experience? What can the public follower of Dead Angle wait for what is of 2016 and for future years? The years that pass are always good because that means that the group continues ahead and those that we are in the we go acquiring experience in the musical environment: you improve the technique of playing, you are more
demanding when taking out songs, you know how to unwrap yourself better when looking for concerts and rooms to play in directo‌te you make old dog as we say here. What we should change, would be probably the topic of the handling of the social nets, it is something that we try to improve but they are resisted a little (although something will be making well if people from Cuba know us!). AND what we can wait, eats soon, you/he/she is a second disk. We are already working in it with a lot of illusion and many desires, and things that we believe are coming out that they could like a lot and that we like they a lot (that is what it cares after all). what comes later, welcome it will be. If some day you were given the opportunity to come to Cuba you would make it? Of course, we don't close places to play and less if they are far from house!! in fact it would be as a dream to be able to leave Spain to defend our music in other countries, an unforgettable experience. How do you see in these moments the rock in Spain, mainly in their region of Alcalå? Some band that you can recommend us? We believe that in Spain the national rock is giving very good artists, God willing the social circumstances were better and the artist was more supported as much for the listeners as for the institutions in this country. We don't like to enter in politics, but if that is true that or you are very lucky or it is very difficult to be devoted to the music in this country. We recommend you big groups at national level as The Zigarros, they have been opened of AC/DC and of Fito and Fitipaldis and they are some authentic beasts, a relating one for us certainly. Well, before finishing to thank them and I give them space so that you transmit a message to all the lovers of the rock. The thank you give them to you us, to contact for us and to allow us to open up opposite with a distant country as it is Cuba. To say that good, if you want to listen our music you can find it in Spotify putting Dead Angle, in our youtube channel that is https://www.youtube.com/user/TopoAnguloMuerto and you can follow us in all our social nets: Twitter and Instagram: @angulomuertornr and our official page of Facebook like Angulo Muerto. We hope you like our topics and that the rock and roll arrives until Cuba and many more places!! Chao chao chao, rock and roll!!

Bob Bob Dylan, Prize Nobel. Some days ago the Swedish Academy granted the Prize for the first time Nobel of Literature to an author, a 75 year-old American sings.
Bob Dylan during one of their fabulous concerts. The Swedish Academy grants the reward to the musician Bob Dylan to have created a new poetic expression inside the great American tradition of the song". for the first time in the history we won't go to a bookstore to make us with a copy of the Prize Nobel of Literature 2016; in this occasion we will have to go to a store of disks. The surprise has been big, he is the first musician in being distinguished in this category. Sara Danius, permanent secretary of the Swedish Academy, said of Dylan that "has been being invented itself during 54 years." SORPRISE The announcement took many for surprise, not only because replaced to other favorite ones for years, as the Japanese novelist Haruki Murakami, the keniano Ngugiwa Thiong'o or the outstanding Syrian poet Adonis, but because for the first time the maximum reward of the literature goes at the hands of a composer of songs. For time, Dylan figured in the nominated lists of the possible ones but it was always thought that the Academy would never make an incursion in the world of the music. The author of the well-known song Knockin' on Heaven's Door", among other many, will receive its medal and the 8 million Swedish crowns in a ceremony December 10. That of Dylan is the Nobel number 109 in the field of the letters and the number 259 for United States.
Before the controversy generated since many they don't understand that he/she is granted the prize, the Academy it defends the nomination of Bob Dylan comparing it with the Greek poet Homero that wrote poetry that not alone one could read, one could also listen and to represent with music. RECOGNITION Before being distinguished by the Academy, Dylan already had the recognition of the industry of the music. In fact, many don't understand that they had not granted him before the prize, since for a lot of time he has been considered a poet more, a poet of the most influential because their topics have been eternal. Their songs of the sixty became hymns for the movement for the civil rights in U.S.A. and against the war of Vietnam. CURIOSITIES ABOUT DYLAN Dylan, whose true name is Robert Allen Zimmerman, was born in 1941 in Minnesota where its musical career began in 1959 playing in cafeterias. Although it was Jewish from birth, he became to the Christianity at the end of the decade of the 70. Along their trajectory he has had numerous artistic names, as Elston Gunn, Blind Boy Grunt, Bob Landy, Robert Milkwood Thomas, Tedham Porterhouse, Lucky/Boo Wilbury, Jack Frost or Sergei Petrov. In their book Chronicles, Volume One counts that he put on of name Bob Dylan influenced by the poet Dylan Thomas. Their topic "Like to Rolling Stone" was chosen by the magazine Rolling Stone like the best song in all the times. The videoclip would arrive 48 years after the launching of the song in 1965. Other 11 his compositions are part of the top 500 of Rolling Stone. July 29 1966, when their musical career in the middle of peak was, it suffered an accident that it caused him bruises and the fracture of several vertebras. Soon after this it disappeared of the public sphere during one year. The accident continues being a mystery, since neither it was hospitalized neither the parts doctors transcended. In 1979 Doctor Honoris was named it causes for the University of Princeton, in United States. In 2004 the Scottish university Saint Andrews granted him this same distinction. In the year 2007, after winning the Prize Prince of Asturias of the Arts, it was granted him a Prize honorary Pulitzer for their deep impact in the popular music and in the American culture. June 7 1988 began their endless tour, well-known as Never Ending Tour, with a hundred of concerts per year.

News productions “Blue and Lonesome”, new CD of The Rolling Stones. The British band announces for December 2 a study album after a decade of silence. There will be CD of new songs of the Rolling Stones December 2 and "Blue and Lonesome" will be called". It will be the first one with new compositions in one decade and it has been recorded in "single three days", it points out the group in its web. There was a lot of expectation after last Tuesday the British band diffuses through the social net Twitter two concise videotapes, of 10 seconds each one, in those that the artists appeared in a study. This small material, more some declarations of the own Stones in the last months, multiplied the speculations on the date of publication of their new album. In the outburst of the videotape it was read: "British Grove Studios, Chiswick, London", address that corresponds with a recording study, to the east of the English capital, where musicians like Eric Clapton have recorded. Keith Richards had confirmed behind months that Clapton would play in a “couple of topics". Today they have confirmed it, in two of the 12 songs of the album they will be accompanied by its "old friend". Clapton "accidentally was in the study of to the side recording its own CD". Blue and Lonesome "takes to the return band to its roots and its passion for the blue that have always been in the soul and heart of The Rolling Stones", it highlights its official statement. It was already known that the album would have blue topics, as the artists advanced last April. "We record 11 blue in two days", Richards said. This work is the number 25 of the group in its career and the first one in more than one decade. Among their album of 2005 and the one that one waits now for final of this year it saw the light the deluxe CD Grrrr!, with two new topics included as courts extra. With Blue and Lonesome, the Stones "returns to their first days like blue band, when they played Jimmy's music Reed, Willie Dixon, Eddie Taylor, Little Walter and Howlin' Wolf". Of both last there will be versions in this album. The co producing of this work, Don Was, underlines that "this album is the apparent test of the purity of its love to make music, and the blue it is, for the Stones, the source of everything that makes" The songs of the prospective album Just Your Fool, Commit A Crime. Blue and Lonesome (que da nombre al disco). All Of Your Love. I Gotta Go. Everybody Knows About My Good Thing. Ride ‘Em On Down. Hate To See You Go. Hoo Doo Blues. Little Rain. Just Like I Treat You. Artist: LACUNA COIL (tomado de internet) Album: DELIRIUM Style: Gothic Metal Label: Century Media Date: 27 de mayo de 2016 Qualification: 7,5/10 About fifteen years ago LACUNA COIL saw one of its dreams come true: to play in America. For the band a “Comalies " that put them definitively in first line of the Gothic Metal, had published then having composed three good disks so far. But everything changed in the musical perspective of the Italians after the tour for USA, as well as having shared scenario with bands that blunted in that subgenera that one came to denominate Gnu Metal for that moment. Such the absorption of those fat sounds that in the following "Karmacode" the band bet to be thrown to the pool and to create a hybrid one among its proposal more rockero was - romanticista and the brutality of the chanda metal. They didn't take in falling them critical on the part of their European public at the same time that they went up the sales in the USA, in the same way that Cristina Scabbia became a sex idol for metaleros and metaleras. Even with the years and the edition of CD like Shallow Life", maybe its more commercial disk, began to fly over on the milaneses the ironic name of Lacuna Park. The case of LACUNA COIL is that of many current bands of the spectrum metalero. Even giving up that that theoretically would be the natural evolution and betting, in terms of quality, for products fewer elaborated in the compositive and yes a lot in that of the production, they have gone every time selling more disks. So that it understands each other better, their disks every time they receive more critical negative, however the band is more and more popular. This is a paradox that thinks about in the Pop neither so at least scene. After the listens to it of "Delirium", seventh long duration of the band, is unavoidable to think what it would finish belonging to them if has followed the pattern marked in "In A Reverie" or "Unleashed Memories", those where LACUNA COIL was shown humanist, with the feet in the earth and composing songs worthy of being remembered. We will never know it. The case is that LACUNA COIL has bet for a formula and a sound that, in any event, it is worthy of respecting. Does it surprise because Delirium? Evidently to these heights of the story the answer is not. Well it is certain that for some years the band comes trying to recover the essence of the times of "Comalies" a little and it is that "Shallow Life" was to play bottom to restart again. This way the following "Dark Adrenaline" and, mainly "Broken Crown Halo", they recovered some that essence Gothic convict to disappear. In this involution process, it would be necessary to expect from "Delirium" a great CD, however the result is not completely notable. It is necessary to recognize that we are before the disk more impacting and aggressive that the band has never recorded, that is this way, well because Andrea Ferro has become fond to the guttural ones, well for that more annoying atmosphere of keyboards even that in the previous work, or for a rhythmic base in the one that the foreign Ryan debuts Folden that enlarges the spectrum numetalero of Lacuna Coil to the maximum expression, for what the final sensation is that the disk well could be a hybrid one perfect among its good
known disk, "Karmacode", and the previous "Broken Crown Halo” in which they played more with the atmospheres kinematicses. "Interesting intent of returning behind in the time, emulating their first musical stage." Tracks as "Ghost In The Mist" or "The House Of Shame" finishes being of the most outstanding in "Delirium", and they transmit to the perfection that atmosphere of psychiatric hospital in which you/they have been inspired for the composition of the album. Rhythms blows with the first floor to high volume, aggressive voices that more than ever contrast with Cristina's sweet tunes, the one which on the other hand has not sung again as it made it in the first two disks, being limited in a large part of the disk to figure like deluxe ornament and when it makes it, the song is not to its height, like it can be the case of "Downfall" or "You Love Me ´ Causes I Hate You" that musically are quite soporific. In a half term we have things like "Blood, Tears, Dust", in the one which maybe they have been gone the hand a little emulating to KORN, but the use that they make here of the electronic elements and Cristina's voice reminds me a lot to the most alternative time in THEATRE OF TRAGEDY; the mixture is not completely bad. "Delirium" silences in the sonic aspect, and it enhances at two of the three original members that are in the band; to a Marco Coti-Zelati that has become strong from behind the keyboards, a presence that he requested loudly for some time and that in this disk he also takes charge of the first floor and the guitars after the couple's of axes scattering. On the other hand Andrea Ferro eats him the toast to Cristina, maybe based on an excess of aggressive voices. Good I also work of the beginner Ryan Folden in the ramrods that he doesn't make more than to still Americanize more the sound of the band. He not throws in lack some topic so mechanical, things like "To Myself I Turned", " Senzafine" or "Heaven´s A Lie" that were maybe songs with a point of the coherence that now gets lost maybe in a style too much plastificated Tracklist and cover of Delirium: Tracklist: 01. The House of Shame. 02. Broken Things. 03. Delirium. 04. Blood, Tears, Dust. 05. Downfall. 06. Take Me Home. 07. You Love Me ‘Cause I Hate You. 08. Ghost in the Mist. 09. My Demons. 10. Claustrophobia. 11. Ultima Ratio.
