Metal for your veins number 30

Page 1

Editorial When the world of the rock still cried the lost of Chriss Cornell, the past July 20 and; coinciding with the birthday number 53 of Chriss, another star said goodbye of this world. It is in this case of Chester Bennington, main vocalist of Linkin Park; one of the bands of rock metal that, without place to doubts, it marked history inside the gender and with which people's thousands grew around the world, ending up getting millions of followers of all parts. For that reason when the tragic and sad news was known, at once the social nets collapsed with dissimilar news where it was talked about the event; until the same members of Linkin Park published in its official place a letter where they said goodbye to its friend and inclusive they created a page to give support to people with suicidal tendencies. As always I hope you enjoy this magazine that, next month it will be turning 2 years of having created. As raisin the time!

It doesn't fit doubts that The Dead Daisies has become the sensation of the Rock & world Roll. Some months ago I interviewed Marco Mendoza (bass) on purpose of the new CD “Live & Louder” and that was released last May 19. In this occasion I interview Marco Mendoza again so that he talks us about the success that has had this CD as well as the new plans of this brilliant band. By: Alejandro Pérez

Allow me congratulate you for "Live & Louder"! Is pure rock & roll and energy! Thanks So Much!! How do you feel with the same? We are pretty much blown away with the response!! We wanted to capture the best representation of what we do live to spread the word, and the response has been extremely good!! What said the people about this CD? They are comparing it to other Classic Live Releases, and that's a cool thing! Did you think, any time, that "Live & Louder" will be a great success? Like I said earlier, you do what's in front of you, and try to do the best job possible, but you never know what to expect....... The last 4th July was celebrated in USA the INDEPENDENCE DAY and to celebrated these day you made "We're An American Band", a new and spectacular single. Yeah we did! What inspire you to make this single? We originally wanted to play some music that would represent home for the troops in South Korea. When we got invited to do Some USO shows there, we ended up keeping it in the song list and there you go!!!!

How the people received the same? We are big fans of GRAND FUNK RAILROAD and that song we feel represents who we are as well! Do you feel proud of being an American Rock Band? Absolutely!! Let's change. The next 3rd August you will play a special "CONCERT FOR FREEDOM" with The Gorzow Philharmonic Orchestra. Why do you decide make this concert? Back in 2016 we played there, (last year), promoting "'Make Some Noise" and the response was so over the top that the Promoter and some Government Officials came back stage and went ahead and Invited us to come back this year and help Celebrate CONCERT FOR FREEDOM, so we felt it was something not to pass on, in Addition to that, we feel very strongly about the theme '' CONCERT FOR FREEDOM " Especially on that side of the Planet!! How do you think that your fans will receive the same? I think they will love it; it will definitely be a very special event!! Do you will record the concert to make a CD or DVD? We have to wait and see, but yes that's the idea! Also, in August you will play your first-ever North American Headline Tour entitled "The Dirty Dozen". How do you feel whit this? It will be a great time no doubt and, we will have a chance to play in an intimate setting and really let the fans hear and see what it is that we do up close and personal!! In which places you will play this amazing show? New York, Detroit, Chicago, Atlanta, Nashville, Dallas, L.A., San Diego and Las Vegas, in addition we will be playing September 2 at The National H.O.G Rally at the Harley Davidson Museum in Millwaukee. How do you think that the public will received this show? I just know that they will love it!! It's A Great Band!! I had the opportunity to see "With You And I", a new video recorded the last summer in Woodstock Festival, and I will like to say that I love this video so much. What inspires to you to make this video? The lyrics are definitely indicative of the state of the world and, touches on the fact that we can make a difference but it all starts WITH YOU & I!! What others surprise we can wait of the band for a near future?

Nothing but The BEST MUSIC and LIVE SHOWS we can possibly put together for our Fans!!! Join us on our journey!! A last question. Do you consider a pacifist rock band? PEACE and LOVE YES !!!! Well, thanks again to The Dead Daisies for your time and I wish good luck. Any words that you want to say to the Cuban people and your fans. CUBA!!! Los Queremos y los Extrañamos Mucho, y Ojalá nos veamos pronto!!! VIVA LA ROCK!!!! Thanks so much! Marco Mendoza. Line-up Doug Aldrich (Whitesnake, Dio) - guitar. HAPPY 4TH OF JULY - ROCK WITH THE DAISIES With July 4th just around the corner, The Dead Daisies wanted to not only celebrate Independence Day but Freedom around the world. Bassist Marco Mendoza sums it up nicely for all of us: “My career as a Musician has allowed me to travel around the World quite a few times to experience different lands & cultures. Back in the USA we live with the abundance of life and freedom unequalled anywhere else and that’s a fact! On July 4th let’s fly the flag high and celebrate Independence Day and all it stands for!!! I for one am thankful & grateful to be able to live in the US OF A!!! The land of the free & the home of the brave!! VIVA THE USA and VIVA LA ROCK!!!!” To that end, the band is proud to announce the release of an American Classic “We’re An American Band” in celebration of Independence Day and all it stands for. They will also drop a little video for it on July 4th. Singer John Corabi: “We first did "American Band" by Grand Funk Railroad for our troops in South Korea. We wanted to bring a little bit of something "American" to our men and women in uniform, and give them a taste of home. So, what better way than a classic American tune by a legendary American band. The song went over so well we decided to keep playing it and subsequently recorded it for our "Live and Louder" album. Enjoy the Daisies version, the video, and your FREEDOM the troops are fighting for on this celebration of our independence as a young, sovereign nation!!!” Guitarist Doug Aldrich: “Hey Friends!!! We are dropping a new song to celebrate the 4th of July. For me, I think it's a time to remember and appreciate the Freedom that all of our own countries provide for us. Stay strong and let the music move ya!” Fresh from their European Tour playing at some of the biggest Rock Festivals and Sold-Out headline shows, culminating in beyond capacity headline performances in Salzburg, Budapest, Prague & Japan, the band are making their way to the USA. Don’t miss them on their first-ever North American Headline Tour entitled “The Dirty Dozen” marching across the USA in August. Rock & Roll is indeed alive and well!!! LINE-UP: Doug Aldrich (Whitesnake, Dio) - guitars John Corabi (Mötley Crüe, The Scream) – vocals David Lowy (Red Phoenix, Mink) – guitars Marco Mendoza (Thin Lizzy, Whitesnake) - bass Brian Tichy (Ozzy Osbourne, Foreigner) - drums About The Dead Daisies:

Influenced by 70’s and early 80’s rock, The Dead Daisies sound is soulful and accessible – equal parts of Aerosmith, Bad Company and Foreigner: muscular vocals, bluesy riffs, big choruses, powerful melodies and strong hooks. With stellar musicianship and pulverizing live shows, fans worldwide are discovering the band that is bringing back Rock & Roll! The band features in their ranks some of the finest Rockers on the planet, among them one of the premier lead guitarists of this day and age, Doug Aldrich (Whitesnake, Dio). He completes a powerhouse line-up consisting of charismatic singer John Corabi (Mötley Crüe, The Scream), bassist extraordinaire Marco Mendoza (Thin Lizzy, Whitesnake), drummer to the stars Brian Tichy (Ozzy Osbourne, Foreigner) and bringing the thunder from down under, Australian rhythm guitarist and founder David Lowy (Red Phoenix, Mink). About Grand Funk Railroad: Grand Funk Railroad, sometimes shortened as Grand Funk, is an American rock band popular during the 1970s, when they toured extensively and played to packed arenas worldwide. David Fricke of Rolling Stone magazine once said, "You cannot talk about rock in the 1970s without talking about Grand Funk Railroad!" Known for their crowd-pleasing arena rock style, the band was wellregarded by audiences despite a relative lack of critical acclaim. The band's name is a play on words of the Grand Trunk Western Railroad, a line that ran through the band's home town of Flint, Michigan.

LIVE & LOUDER FOR PEACE & FREEDOM THE DEAD DAISIES SET TO ROCK WOODSTOCK, POLAND WITH THE GORZOW ORCHESTRA High Octane, rip-roaring hard rockers THE DEAD DAISIES are proud to announce a monumental return to WOODSTOCK POLAND featuring in a gripping headline performance at a special “CONCERT FOR FREEDOM” with The Gorzow Philharmonic Orchestra on August 3rd, 2017. Founder & President of Woodstock Poland, Jurek Owsiak has the following thoughts on The Dead Daisies and their return to his Festival: “Woodstock 1969 became an incredible spark which inspired all freedom thinkers of the world to face their biggest challenge yet – striving to achieve freedom, independence, truth, and try to build a true fraternity of people across the globe. For people in Poland, it became an inspiration to take a very important step on the road to regaining freedom and true independence. It was thanks to music, thanks to artists, who gave voice to our dreams which, 25 years ago, resulted in the creation of Polish solidarity and our Polish independence. We are so proud to say that it has been 23 years since we began to send the message of peace. It is especially important in such turbulent times as now. We are very grateful that thanks to artists like you, and amazing initiatives like The Dead Daisies and their songs about freedom, we are able to nurture and develop these everlasting ideals. The spirit of freedom permeates the globe,

unstoppable like the wind, and it reminds us that despite the different skin colors or creeds we are all united by the ideals of Love, Friendship, and Music.” In the middle of a World Tour supporting the release of their new Live Album – Live & Louder, Doug Aldrich said the following: “We are very, very, excited to be involved in the Woodstock Festival again this year. We will be performing with a sixty-piece orchestra!! It has been a big dream to do that! The Dead Daisies set list is going to be a one off special in the name of Peace & Freedom just for this show. Can't wait!!” Alongside the announcement, THE DEAD DAISIES are releasing a new video today for “With You And I”, which was fittingly filmed at the band’s inaugural performance at the Woodstock Festival last summer. It features imagery in line with values that the world seems to have sadly forgotten. Watch the video here: https://youtu.be/nMQzmJPRLN4 Singer John Corabi: “I think the lyrics to "With You And I" are especially relevant at the moment, you can't turn the TV on and NOT see some sort of human decay anymore. We're battling each other in so many ways, it's disturbing. Be it political party differences, the struggle of black vs. white, religious differences, terrorism, famine, disease, pollution, climate change, etc. -- nobody is working TOGETHER in any way to find answers to these issues, and communicate as adults!” Rock & Roll is indeed alive and well!!! LINE-UP: Doug Aldrich (Whitesnake, Dio) - guitars John Corabi (Mötley Crüe, The Scream) – vocals David Lowy (Red Phoenix, Mink) – guitars Marco Mendoza (Thin Lizzy, Whitesnake) - bass Brian Tichy (Ozzy Osbourne, Foreigner) - drums About Woodstock Poland: Woodstock Festival Poland (Polish: Przystanek Woodstock; "Woodstock Station"; English language materials often refer simply to the Woodstock Festival) is an annual ticket-free rock music festival in Poland, inspired by and named for the Woodstock Festival, that has taken place since 1995. Two Step Flow is a rock duet coming from Brazil. Their music is characterized to include aspects related with the current Brazilian society. On the beginnings of this singular band and all the related with “We're Going Down” their first EP, I decided contact with Wood Lusa. By: Alejandro Pérez.

Greetings boys and be welcome to this Cuban rock magazine. Thanks for your time for this interview! Thank you Alejandro, you're welcome man! To start. When and where arises the band? Why the name of Two Step Flow? So let’s go! We meet us on the Day of Rock in 2010, playing some covers for a special program from RBS TV (Rede Globo) in Caxias do Sul/Brazil, but we started this duo in December of last year. About the name, I was searching on the web about communication when I read about Two Step Flow. We’re a band of 2 members, just bass and drums and we love the name. In the songs you can hear other instruments, and we play live shows with 8 tracks from virtual sounds. Who are their members? Wood Lusa - Vocals and bass guitar Diego De Toni – Drums

Which have been the main influences of the band? Brazilian syncopated rhythms (like Samba and Gaúcha styles), punk attitude, electronic music and psychedelic love. How would define your musical style? South American freak punk beat. Do you include in your songs topics related with the current Brazilian society? Yes, we have a lot of problems with corruption in Brazil, our musical history since Samba talks about the social difference, we want to do the same thing, show to the next generation of the world the shame of our nation, the politicians. Can you believe that we can’t do the passports here, because the politics are corrupted and the police don’t have any money to print the passports! Shit, man! Our music talks about our hard reality, Brazil charges expensive tax, but it’s the one that gives the least return to the population. In this moment you are working in your first EP named “We’re Going Down”. How was the process of edition and recording?

Yes, we worked here in Brazil to send the tracks to the United States. Basically we recorded in studio the songs and sent to EJ Oropza from “The Dark Lab Studio” in Seattle to do the mix and master of the song, things that technology can do for us, it’s amazing. Plans to promote it? We will release a new music video soon and if all goes well, we will do a tour to promote the EP album. We expect to play there in Cuba too; I heard good things about the underground scene there. How do you think that this CD will be received? We had a good impression from different people and places when we released the music video from “We’re Going Down” on YouTube, so we have great expectations about our first EP. What you can tell us about “We’re Going Down” official video? How do you felt when the video was ready? When I started to compose the song, I could imagine that dirty and cold atmosphere in the jungle… and Felipe Nothen (The Director) got this sensation and he put that inside the scenes, so we like a lot. What are the future plans of the band for this year? We’re planning to promote our first EP with a tour in South and North America, also make new friends and have fun. Well, thanks again for your time and I wish for you the best. Any words that you can say to the Brazilian and Cuban people that love the rock. Thanks Alejandro, you’re a Soldier of Rock and you deserve respect. Yeah, let’s make a change with rock, help who need and make the world a better place with love, music and friendship. When you finish tell who answered the interview. Wood Lusa - Two Step Flow

TO KNOW Found dead the vocalist of Linkin Park Chester Bennington. The first indications point to him hung in their house near Los Angeles.

Chester Bennington (Phoenix, 1976), vocalist of the rock group Linkin Park, it has been found dead in their house of Palos Verdes, in The à ngeles, as it has confirmed the forensic office of the Californian city. "The main hypothesis that the investigators manage is that of the suicide", a spokesman declared. He had 41 years and six children of two marriages. The singer had a painful childhood: born and servant in Phoenix (Arizona), a nurse's son and a policeman that it worked in cases of sexual abuses, began to consume drugs with assiduity to the 11 years, after the divorce of their progenitors and the obtaining of the custody on the part of their father. Bennington also declared to have been object of sexual abuses on the part of a mature man from the seven years, situation that presumably lengthened during more than one half a decades. The music was a lifeboat for the youth that recorded three disks with a band called Flock Daze before entering in Linkin Park, vastly influenced by the scene grunge. In 1996, one of the most grateful bands in that scene, Soundgarden, published the one that was its last album in more than 15 years. The group separated soon after in an expression that marked the last compasses of the era of the grunge; a time in which a handful of youth’s servants in the discography independence put paws up the musical industry. That same year, some youths of a suburb of The à ngeles formed a called group Xero that have just worked up to 1999, with the acceptance of an unknown called singer Chester Bennington and a definitive name change. Linkin Park had been born, a band that, beyond its musical qualities, it is indispensable to understand becoming of

the commercial metal in the XXI century, and its different coalitions with rap and electronic. Bennington, which declared in several occasions that one of the favorite groups in that time, was Stone Temple Pilots; it completed a dream when being summoned in 2013 like the original singer's of the band substitution, Scott Weiland, since he left in 2015 to concentrate to 100% on Linkin' Park. Initially seen as a more commercial version of Limp Bizkit, the group of Bennington supposed the crystallization of that nu-metal that was growing in the years 90 of hand of bands like Korn, the first Deftones, Slipknot or the own Limp Bizkit. Suddenly, the white rock and radiofonic of the recently used for the first time century expanded in an uncontrollable way, with countless bands that have never reached those bench marks of popularity again, as Pope Roach, Stand or Coal Chamber. Of among all them, nobody has known how to be reinvented and to stay as Linkin' Park, a band that two Grammy has won, it has sold 68 million disks and it has survived all the jolts of the industry. The last album of the band appeared the past May 19, exactly the following day that Chris Cornell -vocalist of Soundgarden and personal friend of Bennington - hangs in a hotel room in Detroit. On Thursday of the tragic event, Cornell would have turned 53 years. The death of Cornell was a hard blow for Bennington that made public a letter in which told to its friend: "I cannot imagine a world without you in him; I pray so that you find the peace in the other life." June 22, Linkin Park was in concert in Madrid, and the past July 3, in London. The beginning of its American tour was prepared for next Thursday, July 27, with a presentation in Massachusetts. Their last video clip, “Talking To Myself, was published hours before it was known that Bennington had died.

Vídeo for the new single of Arch Enemy

After publishing the direct "As the Stages Burn"! this same year, Arch Enemy will return to the load the next one September 8 with the edition of its tenth study album, "Will To Power", through Century Media. As first it sails the band it has chosen the song "The World Is Yours" for the one that they have thrown the official videotape. The leader of the band Michael Amott comments: "We have been working hard in the new album during this whole time and we are proud of presenting the first sample in more than three years of the new thing of Arch Enemy with our new simple The World Is Yours". The first song that I wrote for “Will To Power” and Daniel was (Erlandsson, drum) he helped me with the arrangements and to finish it. It is one of the many songs that co-write and we co-took place in this turn. We had an explosive recording with the band to the complete one in the south of Sweden and later we mix with Jens Bogren, who a great work made with the mixture and the masterization - in my opinion even overcoming the epic sound of our previous CD, ' War Eternal'. People that have listened this song in particular say that continues in the environmental line of Arch Enemy and I believe that they can be in the correct thing… we hope to play it in direct at the end of summer!"
