A serial arsonist who is torching cars in an Allston neighborhood has residents on edge about their vehicles and potentially their safety. “It’s concerning. What else is this guy capable of ? It’s crazy,” said Julia Hershonik, 21, a resident of Pratt Street. Firefighters rushed to Pratt Street just before 8 a.m. Saturday for a report of cars on fire behind a home. As they were fighting that fire, another car fire was reported a few houses away. Moments later, a fourth car was seen on fire on Ashford Street, which runs parallel to Pratt Street. The four cars torched Saturday increased the total to eight cars that have been set ablaze in the neighborhood in the past

He ran outside and saw flames coming from his car. “The guy’s just sick,” said Intinarelli, who plans to get a new car. “We just have to keep our eyes peeled. Assistance seeking arsonist: Police detectives and fire investigators are asking for the public’s help locating a person responsible for the recent string of suspicious fires. Witnesses told investigators they saw a person jump a fence after Saturday’s fire, but they were not able to provide a detailed description of the person. Investigators are not revealing how the fires are set. Officials ask anyone in the neighborhood who observes something or has information to call 617-343-3324 or 617-343-2202.

Boston isn’t far behind New York City in offering underground cell phone services to more transit riders. According to an MBTA spokesman, InSite Wireless, the contractor slated to let T-goers gab while beneath the streets, is on schedule to complete underground cell tower installations for Blue and Green Line trains by the end of this year. That means riders are only four months from being able to call their friends if a Green Line train breaks down in a tunnel. PDAs and smartphone

InSite will complete the infrastructure work at the remaining underground stations and tunnels from Kendall to Alewife next year, according to T spokesman Joe Pesaturo.

Web surfing will also be easily accessible. According to the company’s website, InSite’s “DAS” technology “provides continuous service in stations and trains, allowing riders whose service providers connect to the antenna system to text,

make phone calls, check email and surf the Web.” After InSite installs the necessary infrastructure, coverage carriers can sign up to get on the system, said an MBTA official. In March of last year, then-MBTA General Manager Rich Davey introduced similar services on the Orange Line, providing cell accessibility along the entire underground corridor. Protests against Wall Street have spread like wildfire nationwide — and similar rallies could come to Boston by next week, according to 23-year-old Nelson Terry. On his way to New York City last week to join protesters, Terry created a Twitter account with hopes that supporters in the Hub would sign on and fight the financial system in his hometown. “Whether it’s a series of marches or occupations, that remains to be seen,” said Terry, who was nearly arrested Saturday as he led

Jonah Hill is understandably a little hoarse when we meet up with him at the Four Seasons Hotel in Boston. The night before, he had been partying with the staff of the Harvard Lampoon. “Oh my gosh, one of the best nights of my entire life,” he says. “It was very inspirational, because a lot of the great comedy writers of our time and before passed through there and were a part of that organization.” These days, Hill is thriving. The recently slimmeddown actor is starring in his first dramatic role, playing opposite Brad Pitt in the film adaptation of Michael Lewis’ 2003 book, “Moneyball.” I know you must be sick of talking about your weight, but could you give us a CliﬀsNotes version?

I feel very similar right now at this moment in my career to how I did when “Superbad” was coming out, because “Superbad” was my introduction to people. ... So now I feel the same way because I’m reintroducing myself by saying “Hey, I’m Jonah and I’m in this different kind of movie that you’re definitely not used to seeing me in, a different kind of performance. But, unfortunately, that still creates winners and losers in the United States. â&#x20AC;&#x153;College education in particular pays off for those that get it. On the one hand, it provides a channel of opportunity for some people, especially those from lower-class backgrounds,â&#x20AC;? says Hout. â&#x20AC;&#x153;But for those that are left out, it actually contributes

Emotional intelligence enters the classroom “Emotional intelligence” is a term that was popularized by Daniel Goleman’s book, “Emotional Intelligence: Why It Can Matter More Than IQ.” Is that what started you oﬀ in your work?

Yes, that’s how I first came to the term. But my thinking on the subject started back when I did a lot of teacher observations. Often, I would see people who appeared to know everything about their subject, and had a whole range of technical skills,

but there was something missing. They weren’t paying attention to the emotional dimension of teaching. For me, emotions were so important to learning — and the lecturer had a huge role to play in influencing feelings in the learner.

What’s the most common mistake teachers make when it comes to setting an emotional tone?

It’s small but important. They don’t take the opportunity to address individu-

als by name, so they don’t acknowledge the individual learner. Second, they don’t address the potential for fear in a learning situation. Classrooms can produce a lot of anxiety. Just taking the time to be clear about the structure and expectations can alleviate

much of that. So many educational experiences involve shame — from spelling bees to missing homework assignments. Can shame ever be a positive motivator?

Personally, I would say no. I occasionally meet people who say they were humili-

ated at school, and it changed their attitude for the better. But the people who tell me this are the ones who succeeded, because I work with lecturers. I don’t meet the ones that dropped out and failed to learn. BRUCE WALSH

Teabaggers co-opted their name from a great American moment when we first stood against tyranny; now they spread lies as “alternative history” such as Paul Revere’s ride was also about gun rights. No, these are not the same old Bills. Going into yesterday, Buffalo had lost 15 straight to the Patriots. Now that streak — along with some measure of confidence in New England’s ability to close — is history. Rian Lindell hit a 28yard field goal as time expired, giving the Bills a stunning 34-31 win and spoiling record-setting days by Tom Brady and Wes Welker (see box, right). The Pats took a 21-0 lead on three early TD passes by Brady. But Ryan Fitzpatrick led the Bills back within 24-17 by the time the third quarter wrapped up. Bills running back Fred Jackson tied it at 24 with a 1-yard scoring run early in the fourth, and Drayton Florence returned a Brady interception — one of four on the day — 27 yards to paydirt 14 seconds later.

Wes Welker set team records with 16 catches and 217 receiving yards yesterday. The Pats’ loss, though, ruined his day. “What should be a great, fun day of breaking records and all of those things is totally opposite,” he said.

Brady and Welker connected to tie it at 31 with 3:25 to play, but Buffalo simply marched it down the field after a touchback. Jackson appeared to score on a 39-yard reception with 1:43 to go, but he was ruled down at the 1. That allowed the Bills to kill the clock and ultimately score the upset.

Tom Brady’s 387 passing yards gave him 1,327 on the season. That’s the most by any NFL QB in any three-game span, ever.

7,077 Brady is on pace to pass for 7,077 yards this season. That would demolish the current record: Dan Marino’s 5,804 yards in 1984.
