one actually surfs subway trains in New York City? Turns out the dangerous pastime is alive and well. A video posted online Tuesday shows several frightening minutes of a man holding onto the outside doors of the J train as
it moves through the tunnels. According to the video, the train surfing happened Tuesday. At one point, the train came to a halt inside the tunnel and the man jumped down from the doors and disappeared through a small opening in the wall. “Surf-

Adding insult to injury, exNew York Congressman Anthony Weiner managed to humiliate his wife, Huma Abedin, yet again. Yesterday, one of his “sexting” mistresses shared messages with the Daily Mail in which Weiner calls Abedin’s parents “backwards thinking” and claims religious differences have burdened their marriage. Traci Nobles, 35, a former cheerleading coach who had textual trysts with Weiner, revealed the scandalous excerpts in her new book, “I Friended You,” set to be published this week. In some exchanges, Weiner complained to Nobles that her Muslim family clashed with his Jewish faith. “They just believe I should be Muslim or convert … it makes for a lot of uncomfortable meetings,” Weiner wrote. “I wish I had an escape route sometimes.” Another time he confided in Nobles: “A lot has to do with religion. Lots of restrictions and how I’ve never been accepted by them.” In other texts, he bragged about masturbating in the restroom of the

Police make arrest in Brooklyn gropes Man charged Tuesday with attacking woman But police warn a second sex perv may still be on the loose Cops say they’ve arrested at least one of the alleged sex predators terrorizing Brooklyn, but caution women that another suspect may still be out on the streets. Adolfo Martinez, 26, was arrested Tuesday night at around 9 p.m. at 42nd Street and Fifth Avenue in Brooklyn. Police reportedly took him in after matching him to surveillance video footage. Cops say Martinez attacked a woman, 18, after she left a Sunset Park subway station Monday night. He was charged with forcible touching and sexual abuse.

Monday’s assault might be part of a larger pattern, where as many as 13 women since March have been attacked while walking home alone at night. Most of the victims have been groped by a man, who then flees when they scream, but one of the women was raped in June, said police. Police cautioned that they cannot be sure Martinez was behind every incident, as they suspect multiple men in the attacks. They released a new suspect sketch Tuesday. ALISON BOWEN

People walk across Park Avenue at 33rd Street yesterday.
The most dangerous intersection for New York’s pedestrians is right smack in the middle of Manhattan: Park Avenue and 33rd Street. According to Transportation Alternatives’ analysis of crash data from 1995-2009, 163 pedestrians have been struck there in that 14-year span. Graphic designer Rachel Johnson, 25, who lives in Murray Hill and works on 33rd Street and Park Avenue, was surprised to learn the number of accidents on her block. “I walk across it every day — it’s weird,” she said. But she said she could understand why so many people are hit at the crossing, near the entrance of the Park Avenue tunnel. “The lights are never consistent,” she added. In order to curb crashes on the same city streets, Transportation Alternatives created CrashStat.org, an interactive map of traffic stats across the five boroughs, such as where the most pedestrians and cy-

TLC may change taxi lights Off-duty lights may be eliminated To be replaced by only one light May be less confusing for riders METRO
It may one day be easier to see if that cab’s free or not.
Squinting to see whether a taxicab’s “off-duty” lights are on might one day be a thing of the past. Officials at the Taxi and Limousine Commission are considering changing the lights on top of taxicabs, taking away both the numbers and the “off-duty”

sign. They would be replaced with something much simpler: If one light is on, the cab’s free. If it's dark, the cab’s been taken. The new cabs would be modeled after taxis in London, which use the singlelight system. Right now, a yellow cab is available if the middle part of the light, with the cab’s numbers, is lit up. But it can be hard to decipher for New Yorkers — much less out-of-towners — whether the “off-duty” lights on the sides are also lit. Just don’t hold your breath for simpler taxis anytime soon: These new lights might not be a reality for at least another two years. TLC spokesman Allan Fromberg said they would likely be incorporated into the “Taxi of Tomorrow,” a Nissan NV200, expected to hit streets in November 2013. ALISON BOWEN

It would take at least two days to fully evacuate Rikers Island, officials estimate.
In an emergency, could New York evacuate Rikers? 14K In August, as the city was scrambling to prepare for a potentially devastating hurricane, controversy arose over a decision made by Mayor Michael Bloomberg: There would be no evacuation of Rikers Island. Officials said there was no flood risk on the island, and Irene came and went, but the incident raised a question: How would the city deal with the tens of thousands of inmates on Rikers, an island accessible by only one bridge, should an emergency arise? “Whether they had to evacuate Rikers or not during Irene, they’ll have to evacuate eventually,” said

One year later: Above ground, but below par? Today is the anniversary of Chilean miners’ rescue Some of ‘Los 33’ battle poverty and unemployment Twelve months after being rescued from burial more than 2,296 feet deep, 33 Chilean men still receive recognition for their part in a sensational mining tragedy. Leal finally gabs about Kutcher Sara Leal, the 22-year-old San
Diego woman who claims she was with Ashton Kutcher on the night of his sixth wedding anniversary, is breaking her silence (and by “breaking,” I mean “the highest bidder finally won”). “He just came up and kissed me,” Leal tells Us Weekly of her introduction to Kutcher. Leal claims the “Two and a Half Men” star told her he was separated from Demi Moore. She then details a late night cavorting naked in a hot tub with Kutcher and one other woman before the pair retired to Kutcher’s bedroom in the early morning. “He lost his towel and I took my
robe off,” Leal says. “Then we had sex.” And did they use a condom? Leal says no. Apparently, Kutcher’s pillow talk got political, as Leal says he quizzed her on “up-and-coming candidates,” she remembers. “I said Rick Perry. He asked if I’d vote for him. I said I didn’t know and he laughed. He laughed at pretty much everything I said.” Ugh. No wonder Demi wants a divorce. Not only does he cheat on her and not use a condom (For shame, Ashton! Who is DiCaprio dating? While Leonardo DiCaprio has been linked to 21year-old Australian model Alyce Crawford since his split from Blake Lively, reports from Australia suggest he’s actually spending time with more than one model. Ozzy’s to be a grandfather! It’s a big month for Jack Osbourne, as his fiancee, Lisa Stelly, is pregnant with their first child, he told Piers Morgan in an interview, meaning shock rocker Ozzy will soon be a grandfather. “I’m excited,” Osbourne said. “I’m a little nervous.” Osbourne and Stelly announced their engagement two weeks ago.
Don’t Seal, Hilary Swank and Jean Claude Van Damme have enough money that they don’t have to accept cash from a dictator? Apparently not. The stars were paid millions to attend a concert held on the 35th birthday of Chechnya’s leader, Ramzan Kadyrov, who has been accused of rights abuses, including murder, per The Associated Press. “Ramzan Kadyrov is linked to a grim record of abuse,” says Hugh Williamson of the Human Rights Watch. “When stars get paid to turn up to party with (Kadyrov), it trivializes the suffering of countless victims of human rights abuses.” Swank wasn’t forced to wear an Islamic head scarf, even though Kadyrov has forced his female citizens to do so. (He has also publicly approved honor killings of women). At the event, she said she liked the Chechen government’s “passion to make peace.” And here I thought Sara Leal selling her Ashton sex story to Us Weekly was distasteful.

Reasons to go to the movies this weekend
‘The Big Year’ Jack Black, Steve Martin and Owen Wilson play three competitive birders who take on the challenge of seeing as many species of North American birds as they can in one year. ‘The Thing’ The thing with “The Thing” is that it’s not exactly a remake, nor is it a sequel. “The Thing” is a prequel to the 1982 film starring Kurt Russel, which was a remake of “The Thing from Another World” from 1952. And even if you get all the things confused, expect the new one, co-starring Mary Elizabeth Winstead, to leave you spooked.

The 1980s classic starring Kevin Bacon gets an update. Yes, dancing is still banned in an entire town, but director Craig Brewer’s take on what could’ve been even worse than “Step Up 3D” is much smarter than it looks.

‘Real Steel’ A movie about boxing robots sounds like something a couple of studio executives came up with after a few too many — but yes, it’s real, it owned the box office last weekend and Hugh Jackman stars in it. ‘Ides of March’ George Clooney directs and stars in this political thriller based on the celebrated Broadway play “Farragut North.” It’s about an ambitious political strategist (Ryan Gosling) who finds his integrity challenged by a cynical electoral system during the Democratic primaries. Backs will be stabbed — very, very nice-looking backs at that.

Console: 360/PS3 Company: 2K Games Grade:
Gamers weaned on “Madden” have learned to expect only minor changes to each year’s iteration of their favorite sports titles. With that logic, “NBA 2K” has done enough work to last through 2015. 2K Games must have given their laurels to Marv Alpert, because while “2K11” was great, “2K12” is pretty much the best basketball game ever made.
Every fiber of this game is exponentially better than “2K11.” Last year’s edition let you complete challenges as Michael Jordan. Now you can complete challenges as Wilt Chamberlain, Larry Bird and tons more classic dribblers. The attention to detail shines in the franchise mode, the many online challenges and, obviously, the game play itself. You’ll be hard pressed (get it?) to play a better hoops sim in the foreseeable future.

Sweet and pretty Just when you were beginning to get used to fall’s kinky fetish wear, the fashion pendulum swung the opposite way for spring. Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Valentino and Givenchy are just a few houses that turned out the kinds of feminine, universally appealing dresses that both your mother and homegirl would approve of. Think shimmery, ethereal dresses that resembled oyster shells and lace frocks the color of lemon drops. The trick will be figuring out how to wear all the pastels without looking like an overgrown 15-year-old. GETTY

Protests still dominating RE: “PUSH BACK AGAINST PROTEST”: You gotta love
the level of discourse when people protesting a 1 in 10 unemployment rate are repeatedly told to stop being lazy and get a job. AARON MINER, BRONX When I consider the pointlessness of the “Occupy” demonstrations, I have to wonder what’s really going on. In the novel “1984,” the regime would secretly organize dissidents in order to entrap potential opponents. Has free speech become a tool?
The “1 percent” say they are just hard-working Americans, but how many laws did they break and lives did they ruin to get there? The rich think it’s so great to be poor; I think everyone needs to spend a night on the street to see just how bad it is. The “1 percent” need a reality check. ETHAN MUELLER, VIA E-MAIL
For those of you complaining about the protesters, you make it clear that you have no idea how lucky you are. It’s obvious that you have no concept of how difficult it is to get a decent job or to pay for an education. The protesters
are contributing to our society by encouraging change within a system that is not working.

How ironic that Kanye West and Russell Simmons are both multimillionaires. Nancy Pelosi has raised several hundred million dollars from the same crowd. They are all part of the “1 percent” of America who Wall Street protesters claim are not paying their fair share.
Libra Sept. 23-Oct. 23. Any new endeavor will have better-than-usual prospects for achieving success. You’ll have to work for it, however. Scorpio Oct. 24-Nov. 22. Making some adjustments in a situation that could affect your material security is likely to pay off. You might get the first sign of movement almost immediately. Sagittarius Nov. 23-Dec. 21. You shouldn’t have any reluctance at this stage of the game to take on some new duties in a social organization with which you’re affiliated. The extra work will be worth it. Capricorn Dec. 22-Jan. 19. It’s to your benefit to motivate yourself to strive for more lofty goals than usual. Impressive targets will be the stimulating force that urges you onward during this achievement cycle. Aquarius Jan. 20-Feb. 19. Special knowledge and expertise you’ve acquired through much study and experience will be put to productive use. A multitude of avenues for expression will find you. Pisces Feb. 20-March 20. Something you’ll be able to do best is to take outmoded systems and turn them into something new and useful. Your ingenuity will surprise you.
Dear 99 percent: I’m not sure why you fell for the liberal class-warfare misdirection. We’d be willing to leave and perhaps colonize a nearby planet. We would, unfortunately, have to take with us a few of our things: iPhones, iPads, iPods. When something “goes viral,” it will have a new meaning — we will have taken modern medicine with us. Also be ready for empty cinemas, concert stadiums and sporting venues — the entertainers will be with us. Last, we will naturally be taking with us the roughly 40 percent of total income taxes that we pay. Sincerely, the “1 percent.”

Build the perfect cocktail Master mixologist Nick Mautone shows us how to serve more than Prosecco at our next party Wow your guests with some savory herb drinks and fancy salt floats
W
hen we first met Grey Goose’s U.S. ambassador Nick Mautone at the brand’s Blue Door series in the Hamptons, he was shaking up sunny, farm-totable cocktails. But now that fall’s here and we’re about to hit cozy house-party season, we checked in with the master mixologist for tips on how to make a mean cocktail from the comfort of our kitchen.
Trends Savory herbs: “One of my favorite trends is the use of savory herbs in cocktail making. It’s something I’ve been doing for a long time, and I’m glad to see it take hold — whether it’s the use of sage, rosemary, thyme,” says Mautone. Wood-aging cocktails: “This is a minitrend we’re working on. You take a cocktail like the Negroni and putting it into a small barrel and let it sit for a couple of days and then serve it at a party.”
Find your balance: “The first
and most important tip is to make your cocktail balanced,” says Mautone. “What I mean is if you use too much lemon juice and not enough simple syrup or agave, the drink is going to taste highly acidic and it won’t feel refreshing — it’ll bother your stomach. It’s really about the right balance of alcoholic strength, acidity and sweetness.” And although there’s no exact ratio, Mautone imparted to us an old saying for a classic
recipe: Two parts strong (that’s alcohol) one part weak (which would be a cordial or something similar) one part sour (lemon or lime juice) and one part sweet (simple syrup or agave). “Try to follow the recipe as close as possible, and adjust according to your needs,” he says. You can’t bruise the gin: “You can’t shake or stir a drink

Grey Goose Wise Old Sage 1½ parts Grey Goose La Poire flavored vodka 1 part agave nectar or simple syrup ½ part Canton ginger liqueur ½ part lime juice 4 fresh sage leaves
4 slices of cucumber Directions: In the bottom of a cocktail shaker, place syrup, sage and cucumber. Muddle thoroughly. Add ice and the remaining ingredients. Shake vigorously until the outside of shaker is frosted and beaded with sweat. Double-strain into a glass and garnish with sage or cucumber.
Margaritas aren’t the only drinks deserving of salt. “Take a thin slice of cucumber and float it on top of your drink and sprinkle it with some smoked salt. Then it will gently infuse and flavor the drink without being overpowering.”

too much,” says Mautone. “Most people give it one or two jiggles and then they go ‘Gee, this doesn’t taste as good as the bar or restaurant I had it at.’ You need an appropriate amount of dilution in a cocktail, the amount of water from melted ice really does make a difference. So stop being lazy — put a little muscle into it.” Use good ice: When throwing a big party, we all hit up the grocery store for bags of ice. But if you’re having a smaller affair, impress your guest with perfect, shiny cubes. “Get a bunch of ice trays and fill them with hot tap water,” instructs Mautone, “which will freeze slowly and therefore freeze very clear.” And if you’re feeling ambitious for your bigger events? “Pop your ice out of the ice tray, put them in a Ziploc bag and do multiple rounds.”

Beating around the Bush JOSEPH LLANES
Gavin Rossdale on overcoming the dwindling crowds and the challenges of a solo career Now that the band is rocking again, he doesn’t wanna come back down from this cloud Gavin Rossdale is on his tour bus, heading towards Grand Rapids, Mich. It would be tempting to say something about him being on the road again, but really, despite becoming a husband (to No Doubt’s Gwen Stefani) and father, the Bush frontman never really got off the road. His post-Bush band, Institute and solo dabblings saw him performing, just not as much as in Bush’s heady ’90s heyday. “I never really stopped being out there — I just operated on a different
plane, Rossdale tells Metro. “It was a different atmosphere from doing my heavy rock band to my big ballad solo career. That is, things got smaller. To paraphrase a line from the rock mockumentary, “This is Spinal Tap, he found that his appeal “becoming more selective. “The whole thing was quite troubling, Rossdale muses. “It always felt I was in the right place doing the wrong thing. But, if you take away the commercial side — obviously, it didn’t do as well as Bush — it was

Il Bagatto
Il Bagatto
Neighborhood: Lower East
Side The scene: Very chill Ital-
ian restaurant that has a homey, authentic Italian feel, but is run by one of the coolest Dominicans (Julio Pena) in the city. Food upstairs and a hype DJ downstairs, best of both worlds. What goes down: I like to go there because it feels like family but you’re
rubbing elbows with some of the best writers, actors and regulars in the city. Why you want to “Make It” here: Best time to go is
around 10 p.m. for a late dinner. I can stay and drink all night with Julio — love the grilled calamari, it’s always a special. METRO

How did your experiences in Europe shape your cooking in America?
I was very fortunate to work in a family-owned place right out of cooking school where doing less than a stellar job was never an option. The owners were such great leaders in the sense that they knew how to ignite the flame in each and every one of their employees. We all cared about each other and about the well-being of our customers. That attitude

stayed with me ever since. What do you like about cooking in hotels as opposed to restaurants?
I like the diversity of the operation. No day ever resembles another. We see people at their best, whatever it is for. What’s your favorite dish to cook on the menu?
I like them all. The Lobster Thermidor is one of my favorites, though. Which of your fall offerings are you most excited about?
The white truffle menu. It is right around the corner and white truffle fragrance compares to nothing else. What meal would you cook to impress a date?
Paella ala Valenciana. It is extremely flavorful, requires strong skills to be executed perfectly and is quite a bit of work. It also allows for a “doggy bag” so she’ll still think of me tomorrow. MEREDITH ENGEL

“After 2 weeks, my blood sugar went from 180 to 120 and stayed there!”
Breakthrough “Antioxidant” Diabetic Drink Hailed ‘A Miracle’ Naturally improves blood sugar, cholesterol, circulation, energy and more in as little as 2 weeks! “I’ve been a diabetic for 48 years, my quality of life has been restored!” What part of your diabetes would you like to see ‘go away?’ Are you plagued by weight gain and food cravings, high and low blood sugar levels, mood swings, low energy and constant fatigue, poor circulation, vision problems, intermittent pain or aggravating bouts of brain fog or memory lapses? There is good news and it comes in the form of an effervescent drink called OPC Factor, which quickly revitalizes your entire body and mind. Better Blood Sugar! “My doctor was amazed! I don’t know what you’re doing, but keep doing it!” Holistic health specialist, Dr. Charles Berg, says, “Antioxidant therapy may slow progress of impaired glucose tolerance.” Diabetic Doyle Allen is living proof. “After only two weeks, my blood sugar went from 180 to 112 and stayed there!” Unhealthy Blood Before

ROSEWOOD HOTELS & RESORTS
Washes away blood sludge by eliminating toxins, free radicals, and even parasites!
The secret is a powerful blend o f super antioxidants called oligomeric proanthocyanadins, or OPCs including powerhouses like grape seed, green tea, pine bark, and red wine extracts, along with lemon bioflavonoids, resveratrol, and 23 naturally occurring vitamins and enzymes. No more horse pills! Cell Essential’s OPC Factor™ is the first 100% organic formula fueled by a revolutionary, high-speed Isotonic ‘liquid’ delivery system that mimics the body’s natural pH. This provides an amazing 97% absorption rate. Fast Results Actual blood scans taken twenty minutes apart show how OPC Factor virtually flushes away free radicals, excess cholesterol crystals and sugar molecules in the bloodstream. Excess sugar in your blood causes oxidation which leads to “slow sticky blood,” a problem linked to neuropathy and edema in extremities as well as kidney damage and even blindness. OPC Factor greatly improves circulation promoting faster blood flow; crucial for diabetics. "OPC Factor has helped lower my glucose levels. I sleep better and have more energy and better circulation,” says Charles Leavitt.
NIH Study Proves It! “I can feel it when I drink it,” says Ken Murdock. “It gives a lot of energy.” A National Institute of Health funded “double blind” clinical study published in July, 2008, supports customer claims about energy. For diabetics, energy equals better sleep, moods, and overall balance. “Studies have found that free radicals produce oxidation that disrupts insulin. OPC Factor works 20-50 times better than traditional antioxidants against oxidation,” says Dr. Charles Berg. Receive One-Month Free! Try OPC Factor risk-free today and receive a free 30-day Bonus supply along with a free book, The Aging Antidote-a $20 value. OPC’ antioxidants are clinically proven to boost your energy, and help restore youthful circulation, cholesterol and blood sugar levels. It’s backed by a 6-month satisfaction guarantee so you can experience the short and long term results risk-free, too! Call today! And replace a player in Mason who, someday, could be Canton-bound. “Camp was tough and I got through that and I felt like it helped me out,” Kerley said. “So I’m definitely ready.” While Kerley is a better athlete than Mason it is a tough spot for a rookie to come in. “What we saw on the practice field, one of those things we saw was that Jeremy Kerley has a lot of abili-
Jets general manager Mike Tannenbaum was clear on Wednesday that the trade of Derrick Mason had everything to do with the player’s suspect performance and nothing to do with his controversial comments following a loss to Baltimore. “What he said after the Baltimore game had nothing to do with the decision we made last night. Obviously his performance on the field isn’t where he expected it to be or where we expected to be,” Tannenbaum said. “We’re always going to make a decision for what’s best for the team but it’s based on what we thought is going to give us the best chance to win on the field.” METRO/KD

Getting back to basics GETTY IMAGES
As long as the franchise has been in existence, there have been two things associated with the New York Giants — running the ball and playing sound defense. Unfortunately, that identity has taken a blow in recent weeks. Following last week’s unfathomable loss to Seattle, there was genuine concern regarding the way the running game and how the defense’s inexplicable play has allowed opponents — some mediocre — to put up big numbers on them lately. It doesn’t get any easier

this week, as the Bills (4-1) come charging into MetLife Stadium. “We are not making the same errors [and] that is what is frustrating because if we were then we could just say get that guy out of there but it is different errors,” defensive end Justin Tuck said. “One week it’s tackling, one week it is fitting up the run and the next week it may be a de-
fensive end cutting off a blitz and a guy getting outside.” When a defense is struggling as much as the Giants (3-2) have been, a masking agent is a strong running game that keeps that unit off the field. Unfortunately, they have yet to get that element on track. “Well, we’re going to keep hammering away at it because that is philosophically what I hold to and believe in,” said Coughlin.
