Holdup for hoagie Four Philadelphia men were arrested last weekend for allegedly robbing a 13-year-old boy at gunpoint for his meatball sandwich, reports say. The men allegedly mugged the boy in Yeadon on Saturday night. The boy called police from his cellphone. They then recovered both the gun and the sandwich.
Police arrested Occupy Philly members despite chaos outside the Comcast Center yesterday afternoon.
Another woman arrested outside A 10th woman was arrested outside the Comcast Center before the sit-in. “Police pushed passed her with their bikes and then grabbed her by the arms and threw her in the van,” a protester who would only be identified as Richie said. “She wasn’t doing anything.” Another observer said that, due to the crush of the crowd, it was difficult to see exactly what happened, but that the woman’s screams could be heard down the block. Nine people were arrested inside the Comcast Center yesterday after members of Occupy Philly marched there for — as usual — multiple reasons. Among the reasons were showing solidarity with Occupy Oakland — whose encampment has been plagued by reports of police brutality — and to protest corporate America’s tax loopholes. “The people at the Comcast Center don’t pay city taxes,” said Blayney Stukes of North Philadelphia, who

Nine public schools put on chopping block District proposes closing schools, overhauling grades Grappling with budget problems and empty seats The School District of Philadelphia proposed a plan yesterday to close nine schools over the next four years and change grades at several others to partially deal with declining enrollment. The district has 70,000 empty seats due mostly to growing charter enrollment and is using just 68 percent of its building capacity, with the goal of getting to 85 percent. The much anticipated — and soon-to-be much debated — proposed facilities master plan would address about 7,300 seats, but leaves much more work to
be done. Officials said the work was long overdue and would help put more resources into schools.

The criteria for closure included the condition of the buildings, academic performance, enrollment and population decline, neighborhood impact and nine other factors, officials said. Specific data on the schools slated for closure was not provided yesterday, but officials said it will be made available online in the next few weeks. Students at closed schools would be offered at least two reassignment options and teachers would be reassigned in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement.
Nunery said residents will have three months to give input.

Dykstra ditches Bucks County appearance this weekend for a ‘celebrity’ boxing match in LA He’ll fight Canseco in a battle of pathetic former ballplayers
How low can Lenny Dykstra go? How about suddenly backing out of a scheduled appearance at a Bucks County mall this weekend to instead fight fellow baseball lowlife Jose Canseco in a “celebrity” boxing match the same day? It’s safe to assume the boxing match in Los Angeles this Saturday night will pay a bit more than the autograph session previously planned at Oxford Valley Mall in Middletown. But the timing of the cancellation was intriguing. Yesterday morning, a publicity official for the mall sent out an e-mail saying “Nails” would appear along with other former sports players like Mitch Williams. A couple hours later, reports of his

Thailand’s “9 Inch” Root Holds Secret to Extended Male Performance! O r e gon man c r e dite d wi t h bri ngi ng “oddl y- shaped root ” t o U.S. m arket ; impr ov e s blood f l ow, prost at e f unct i on and i gni t es st am i na! Rod Tallman, a retired Oregon businessman was searching for his own “sexual fountain of youth” when he literally stumbled over a 5,000 year old Asian root that is proving to be the solution to male performance issues. He now leads a team of researchers in bringing this solution to the U.S.
Thailand’s Gift to Men 112 DegreesTM contains top-quality, all-natural ingredients such as Tribulus Terrestris, L-Tyrosine, Pueraria, and Acai, formulated to improve male sexual health and performance, as well as support overall health and vitality. However, one ingredient in the formula can’t help but stand-up in the group.
Ever wonder why some men seem to be serving up a satisfying sex life while you are left hungry for more? When stress levels increase, certain nutrients become imbalanced, causing a premature decline in libido, testosterone levels and reduced circulation; all negatively affecting his ability to maintain physical performance levels. Not only do intimate encounters become less frequent, they become less pleasurable too!
“My husband started taking 112 DegreesTM because he was experiencing performance irregularities. After taking 112 DegreesTM, he has no problems." Christy, AZ
“ I was retired and finally had the time to enjoy myself but my body was holding me back. I truly believe that sex should be as satisfying today as it was when you first started having it. Sex is a part of being healthy. It’s only natural to want to have more of it and for it to be satisfying!” says Tallman. Rod is part of a group of “everyday guys” who used their retirement funds to invest in the research of a rare combination of herbs from the far East. Today they are receiving national acclaim for the all natural formula called 112 DegreesTM, specifically designed to target the maturing man’s overall energy, interest and physical performance by improving and optimizing total body circulation and prostate function.
Proof of Performance Health professionals have noted that the “oddly-shaped root” may produce benefits such as a significant increase in the weight of the testes, higher sperm counts and a greater release of male sex hormones, which explains the plant's reputation for increasing men’s sexuality. This translates into an overall better experience. “For the last four years I have had a significant amount of trouble with frequency of urination. I’ve seen a significant improvement with 112 DegreesTM.” Jude, OR Breakthrough Combination 112 DegreesTM users have also noted changes that include increased morning arousals, more intense release, improved urination, including ease of going and urine flow, and even getting up less during the night to urinate. Users can expect to experience improved blood flow, better prostate function and a dramatic increase in stamina.
According to a 2003 article in the Asian Journal Andrology the preparations of Butea are for male erectile dysfunction. It is affectionately referred to as herbal Viagra.
“Early morning erections have returned. Sustained erections during intercourse. I am satisfied so far.” John, NY Try A Bottle Free If you’re a man 45 years or older, generally healthy, who has noticed a decline in libido, physical ability or urinary function, then you may be suffering from reduced circulation and unhealthy prostate function and you can benefit from a free 30-day supply of 112 DegreesTM. Few drinks a week tied to breast cancer Women who drink just a few glasses of wine or beer a week may have a slightly increased breast cancer risk, researchers said Tuesday. Their findings are based on more than 100,000 nurses followed for three decades and add weight to earlier studies linking alcohol to breast cancer and other tumors. “Even at low levels of alcohol consumption, three to six drinks per week, we found a modest increase in risk,” said Dr. Wendy Chen of Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, whose findings appear in the Journal of the American Medical Association.
“This is an observational study, so we really can’t say anything definite about cause and effect.” CHEN
And, she added, “There wasn’t a particular period in which it was safe to drink alcohol.” But before you put away the Pinot, there are some important caveats to consider. First, it wasn’t a huge effect — about 15 percent higher risk among drinkers compared with teetotalers. For example, even among
women who sipped three to six glasses of wine per week, only 3.3 percent would develop breast cancer over 10 years. That compares to 2.8 percent of abstainers and 3.5 percent of women having up to 13 drinks a week. Second, there is still no ironclad proof that alcohol itself is to blame, even though the researchers did their best to rule out competing explanations such as smoking or older age. They also adjusted for other influences on breast cancer risk, like whether or not a woman has had children and breastfed. REUTERS

Zalmai Rassoul, 69, was appointed Minister of Aviation after the Taliban’s ouster, and then Foreign Minister in 2010.
Foreign Minister Zalmai Rassoul of Afghanistan plays a key role in ending the 10-year war He has to convince international alliance to remain involved, even as they want to pull out their troops
ZALMAI RASSOUL ‘FULL OF GRATITUDE’ Zalmai Rassoul has the demeanor of a veteran physician — indeed, he’s one. Rassoul’s calm nature serves him well in what may be the world’s hardest foreign minister post. Ten years after the invasion of Afghanistan, he deals with countries eager to get their soldiers back — and he has to convince them that Afghanistan’s own forces are improving, while at asking for more help. Rassoul met Metro in Paris. According to a new survey, 37 percent of Afghan women think Afghanistan will become a worse place when international troops leave. Will it?
It has been 10 years. It’s simply time that Afghan security forces take over. By the end of 2014, or even before, we’ll be in charge. Of course, that doesn’t mean that the international community will abandon Afghanistan. Our security forces till still need training by foreign troops
as well as equipment. If a U.S. soldier asked you why he should risk his life for Afghans, what would you say?
The arrival for international forces was decided by the UN Security Council, not by Afghanistan. But what we have today in Afghanistan, we have thanks to these soldiers’ presence. And the international forces have defeated the Taliban in Afghanistan. There are still Taliban outside Afghanistan, but in Afghanistan they’ve been defeated. And the soldiers have contributed to the security of their own countries. No country that has soldiers in Afghanistan would have been free of the risk of being attacked.
“In a few years we hope that Afghanistan will stand on its own feet.” RASSOUL
We’re full of gratitude that the soldiers have risked and sometimes sacrificed their lives for us. But they’ve also done so to protect their own countries. Afghanistan is no longer a source of terrorism. Maybe Afghans will be better off without foreign soldiers?
This is the first time in the history of Afghanistan that foreign soldiers have been welcomed. But now that 10 years have passed, of course Afghans want to see their own soldiers taking care of their security. Is the Afghan National Army up to the task? According to a UN report, 90 percent of its soldiers are illiterate; 30 percent are drug addicts.
We have some drug addicts in the ANA, but not 30 percent. Illiteracy remains a problem because two generations of Afghans couldn’t go to school. But now we have a very intensive literacy program for new soldiers, and the percentage of literate soldiers is increasing every month.
A tougher challenge is the police force, with police officers helping or joining the Taliban.
Yes, we have many problems with the police force. We started training them very late, and being a police officer is much more difficult than being a soldier because he’s dealing with the population. He needs to be literate; he needs to know the law. The Taliban are not recruiting police officers. There has been some infiltration of the police by the Taliban, but the majority of police officers don’t help them. Every day we lose five to 10 police officers in the fight against the Taliban. What is Afghanistan’s foremost success post-2001?
Democracy. We have a constitution and free elections. Twenty-six percent of our MP’s are women. We have the freest press in the region. ELISABETH BRAW METRO WORLD NEWS IN LONDON

The proper etiquette of a Kardashian divorce Day three of Kardashian divorce coverage and we’re not slowing down — not when, like Pompeii, there are so many unanswered questions out there. But they won’t be unexplained for long as — wouldn’t you know it? — it just so happens Kris Jenner has a new book, “Kris Jenner: And All Things Kardashian,” to promote! Raising the bar’s bar
It’s not easy to make it in the restaurant business ‘Bar Rescue’ consultant Dan Smith wants to help out Philly’s watering holes We do more than our share to support bars, but we can only drink so much. Not only do they fail, but there is an entire show dedicated to fixing their mistakes. Spike TV’s “Bar Rescue” swooped down on Philly’s Swanky Bubbles and Downey’s earlier this year, and then the crew stopped back in town last month to host “Bar Rescue University,” a workshop for bar owners on how to track lost, stolen and wasted (for
shame!) alcohol. Lost vodka is lost joy, so we caught up with show consultant Dan Smith.
of guests. As long as they control their comps, a business’ costs should be efficient — of course, if you have developed your drink menu correctly.
How can owners control losses from free drinks and overpours?
How important are promos such as happy hours?
You want them to be able to give free drinks to guests that are spending a lot of money. A bar can control this by giving the bartenders a “comp budget.” They get to ring up a percentage of comp drinks every night for these types
Philly is a big happy hour city, so it would be tough to compete without a strong happy hour. If people pass by and see a full restaurant at happy hour, that excitement is more likely to draw a customer in.
Philly is known for great bar food. How can a new bar stand out?
The entire gourmet burger movement was generated out of making an American classic even better. These are challenging economic times and guests are looking for great food with great flavors, made from healthy ingredients at a good value. Do what you do best — only better. MONICA WEYMOUTH

What are you up to?
We’re trying to find a place to stop for brunch. Are you a big bruncher?
I love going out for food. I’m not a big eater, but I think I love brunch because I’m not that hungry in the morning. I’m a coffee person, so the timing always makes sense to my stomach.
We ask showbiz personalities what they look for in nightlife experiences. This week, we check in with Dum Dum Girls singer Dee Dee, who when we reached her, was driving around in the van with her band. PAT HEALY
by Jessica Sutta When Gaga first came on the scene, she was criticized for being derivative. It seems that with Jessica Sutta’s “Show Me, we have our first real example of a song that is derivative of pop’s leading Lady. This is not to say that “Show Me is a bad song. The melody is strong, and the thumping beat has helped it hover at the top of the Billboard dance chart for a few weeks. Sutta, a former Pussycat Doll, will find her own identity one day. There is a unique squeak she should use more. METRO
What’s your go-to cocktail?
Well, it changes, but generally I’m a fan of things that are whiskey- or ginbased. I like something with ginger or mint, anything that’s kind of refreshing.
What do you look for most in restaurants or bars?
Sushi is probably my ideal dinner date. I’m half uptown, half downtown. I really like cocktails. I like good cocktail bars, but then I generally end up at some skeevy dive bar.

Union confident in face of elimination
Club looks to bounce back after playoff-opening loss Two-goal victory punches ticket to Eastern Conference finals Team captain says it’s a matter of being ‘relaxed’ and ‘focused’ GETTY IMAGES
It has been a long and winding road for the Philadelphia Union. The club hopes that road to the MLS Cup title continues with a trip to the Eastern Conference finals. To make that happen, they’ll have to beat the Houston Dynamo by at least two goals to win the two-game aggregate goal series. If the Union win by one goal, they’ll at least force a pair of 15-minute overtimes and possibly penalty kicks. The regular season began all the way back on March 19 with a 1-0 win at Houston. Ironically, the Union find themselves back at Houston’s Robertson Stadium for a huge

match tonight at 8:30. “I think we have been working for 10 months during the whole season to be at the place we are now,” Union goalkeeper and captain Faryd Mondragon said. "And we want
to continue this way until in L.A. [for the MLS Cup]. We know what we didn’t do [in the first game] and what needs to be done Thursday. I think it’s just a matter of being relaxed and focused.”
While the Union are facing elimination, they’re still confident about extending their season. Much of that has to do with the makeup of the club. “I think this is one of the two or three best lock-
er rooms I’ve been in my whole career,” Mondragon said. “If we play the way I know we can play, we can beat anyone. And I say this in a very humble way because I know there are a lot very good teams. But I live with this team every day, day by day, training by training, minute by minute, and I know what we are capable of.” ANDY JASNER sports@metro.us

Movers and shakers: Breaking down the Philadelphia Phillies GETTY IMAGES
With free agency kicking off today, we take a look at the Phillies’ state of affairs:
Phillies analysis
Piece’ return on Opening Day, after surgery for his ruptured left Achilles tendon? And will he listen to management and finally be more patient at the plate? Shane Victorino: The team catalyst was arguably the Phillies’ MVP. Raul Ibanez: The soft-spoken, hard-hitting left fielder has played his last game as a Phillie.
Starting lineup Jimmy Rollins: Will J-Roll return? The guess here is yes since the Phillies don’t have a replacement. They know what they get with Rollins, who probably prefers to stay home — if he gets a decent deal, with five years on it. Chase Utley: Phils get two more years of the former AllStar. But can Utley’s bum knee withstand the rigors of second base anymore? Hunter Pence: Under Phillies control through the 2013 season. Pence is the lone member of the starting eight still under 30. Ryan Howard: Will the ‘Big

Placido Polanco: Phillies are on the hook for one more year at $6.25 million. It wouldn’t hurt to move Polly to the bench in favor of a younger, more traditional third baseman with some power. Is a trade for David Wright out of the question? Carlos Ruiz: The Phillies still have the solid Chooch, but it’s time to start grooming a replacement.
Keep an eye on ... John Mayberry Jr.: The one guy off the bench with some pop moves into left or replaces Howard at first. Could he become the next Jayson Werth? Domonic Brown: Former top prospect in baseball will once again have a chance to win an outfield job when team reports to Clearwater. ED CONDRAN
Jimmy Rollins is seeking a five-year deal — preferably with the Phillies — this offseason.

Cam Newton, QB, CAR — Newton’s jaw-dropping rookie season is not a uke. He’s incredibly accurate on deep balls and running is a secondary luxury. He will not slow down.

LET’S START THIS OVER Stop living in the past, man. We don’t get any points for what our players did in the first half of the season — all that matters now is what they will do over the next eight weeks.
ALEVITAN@METRO.US
Fred Jackson, RB, BUF — F-Jax won’t be a top-3 back as the Bills’ offense slows down in the cold weather. But he’ll end up as a top-8 guy with ease.
NFL news
No DMC? Darren McFadden had the bye week to get his foot healthy. It didn’t happen. McFadden missed practice Wednesday, making it likely that Michael Bush will be the workhorse Sunday. Bush can instantly be plugged in as a top-12 running back play.

ith that in mind, it’s important to take a step back and rethink player values at the midway point. If we could draft again, just for Weeks 9-16, who would we take? Glad you asked:
Running backs rule There aren’t too many healthy running backs left that are playing at an elite level and being used on three downs. The ones that are should be the first few picks. Arian Foster is the focal point of an offense with the best run-blocking line in the league. He’s the No. 1 pick. Then comes Adrian Peterson, whose stock is on the rise thanks to Christian Ponder. LeSean McCoy and Ray Rice are next as the best passcatching backs in the league. All four are also the goal-line backs for their respective teams.

Vick is not a trick Forget about Michael Vick’s substandard first half. It’s a fluke he hasn’t run for a touchdown, and his offensive line is finally giving him some time. The upside here is still limitless with the No. 10 pick.
Jonathan Baldwin
TE, Eagles The Birds have realized that their outside speed leaves the middle of the field wide open. With the offensive line shaping up, Celek is no longer needed as a blocker.

Perhaps the two biggest surprises of the season have been Fred Jackson and Matt Forte. They won’t fall on their face, but aren’t elite enough to sustain the current pace. Picks eight and nine for them make sense.

Quarterbacks don’t yield much value compared to other positions, but Aaron Rodgers is a freak. There’s no risk in him at No. 6. After that, we take an injury risk in the form of Darren McFadden. If he can get healthy, he’s a threat to lead the league in scoring in any given week.

Conventional wisdom suggests Calvin Johnson will regress to the mean in the second half. However, that wisdom doesn’t take into account that Johnson is a “once in a generation kind of player. He’s the No. 5 pick.
