Real estate agents say cemeteries can be an easy sell to renters who want a quiet apartment and unobstructed view.

And New Yorkers themselves say they’d often prefer a graveyard than noisy neighbors.

Amy Bethard, 33, a television producer walking her dog yesterday near Brooklyn’s Green-Wood Cemetery, said she loves how no skyscrapers block the scenery.

“I like that it’s quiet and open, and there aren’t a lot of buildings,” she said. “It’s pretty.”

City cemeteries are even amping up their efforts to attract visitors, according to a recent Crain’s article, which can also attract residents. Green-

And revenues are down about 30 percent since 2009.

Senator: Smartphone apps need investigation

Schumer wants an investigation into phone applications.

New York Sen. Charles Schumer wants to make sure no one is taking private photos from New Yorkers’ phones.

Schumer called on the Federal Trade Commission yesterday to investigate whether smartphone applications sold for Apple and Android gadgets are stealing private photos and address books.

His request followed reports alleging that numerous applications are taking advantage of software loopholes — one in the Apple operating system and one in the Android operating system — that allow apps to gather users’ photos and private information and transmit them elsewhere.

Barnard students better pay attention to this year’s commencement speech — it’s going to be presidential President Barack Obama will be speaking on Columbia University’s South Lawn at Barnard College’s commencement, the school announced on Saturday.

Barnard, an independent liberal arts women’s college, is one of the four undergraduate schools of Columbia University. President Obama graduated from Columbia in 1983.

“Each year, President Obama selects a small number of schools at which to deliver commencement addresses,” Barnard president Deborah Spar said in a letter. “This year, the president has chosen Barnard College.”

She said that President Obama’s visit will be “a thrill” and was a “testament to the collective achievement of all Barnard graduates.”

Friends in the group dialed 911, according to the Daily News.

He was rushed to the hospital but died, officials said.

Limbaugh sorry for calling girl a slut Right-wing talk-show host Rush Limbaugh, roundly criticized for branding a law student a “slut” over her outspoken support of President Barack Obama’s new policy on contraception coverage, apologized on Saturday for his “insulting word choices.”

The furor over Limbaugh's comments, made on his influential radio program, prompted Obama to call the 30-year-old Georgetown University law student and

women's rights activist, Sandra Fluke, on Friday to express his support.

“My choice of words was not the best; and in the attempt to be humorous, I created a national stir,” Limbaugh said in a written statement. “I sincerely apologize to Ms. Fluke for the insulting word choices.”

Fluke, who has advocated making contraception available to all women, was caught in the middle of a con-

tentious election-year fight between Obama and Republicans over the president’s policy that requires health insurance plans to cover contraception.

Religious-affiliated organizations, the Roman Catholic Church and social conservatives have protested the policy as an infringement on religious liberty. An effort by Republicans in the Senate to overturn it failed this week.

oday is the Monday directly preceding Super Tuesday — in which the four remaining Republican presidential candidates will vie for their slice of the proportional delegate pie — and you know what that means: endless speculation on the outcome of tomorrow’s votes. We’d hate to disappoint.

Super Tuesday, historically the day on which the largest amount of delegates is awarded to primary candidates, is a bit stunted this year: In 2008, 24 states held contests on the heroically designated day, with 41 percent of total party delegates at stake; this year only 10 states are participating, representing 419 delegates, or 36 percent of the total needed to win the nomination, 1,144. The following states are holding votes today: Alaska, Georgia, Idaho, Massachusetts, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas, Vermont and Virginia.

It also represents the second-largest delegate haul of the day, with 63 to Georgia’s 76. Moreover, the diverse state is seemingly up for grabs, as opposed to the Southern state where Gingrich thinks he dominates: According to a Reuters-Ipsos poll released yesterday, Mitt

Romney and Rick Santorum are in “a dead heat” in the Rust Belt swing state, tied with 32 percent support from likely voters.

egardless of who wins which states, however, Super Tuesday won’t dramatically change the campaign narrative. Even if Romney wins all 419 delegates, for instance, a virtual impossibility given proportional allocation, he’ll have shored up only 612 delegates, around half the total necessary. And Rick Santorum, whose campaign gathered impressive momentum after triple wins in Minnesota, Colorado and Missouri last month, is at a disadvantage given a pair of missteps — failing to secure a spot on the ballot in Virginia, meaning he cedes those 46 delegates to Romney and Ron Paul, and also not qualifying in some Ohio congressional districts. Gingrich, for his part, has been waiting for this day, though exactly why is not perfectly clear: Even if he dominates in Georgia he’ll still only have 93 delegates, about equal to Santorum’s total as of today.

All of which is to say that Super Tuesday isn’t shaping up to be particularly spectacular for any of the candidates — except, perhaps, for Romney; who, with his already commanding lead and (bruised though it may be) mantle of inevitability, may be able to scoop up enough votes to ensure his slow-but-steady eventual nomination.

Danny DeVito insists the message is about being responsible while succeeding in business. “It’s not saying that we can’t be inventive and still think of things to sell or make or manufacture,” DeVito explains. “But the idea is that if we’re going to take the goods from the Earth — the supplies, the materials from anywhere — we should think about the sustainability of it and the replenishing of it.”

anny DeVito is becoming quite the multilinguist — or at least that’s what it looks like.

For his new film, “The Lorax,” DeVito took on the unprecedented task of recording foreign versions of the movie in Spanish, Italian, German and Russian. It turned out to be a much more monumental task than he’d expected, though. “It’s a fun thing, but it’s time-consuming. I thought it was going to be like a couple of days. I’ll do German in a couple days. Right! It’s more like a week,” he admits.

“This is the thing, I don’t speak any of those languages. I speak a tiny bit of Italian, but I did it all with coaches and phonetically,” DeVito explains.

“What I would do is tackle one at a time. And Universal brought in people from the country because sometimes the lines were very long. And there was no way for me in German or in Russian to get through that entire line without messing up some intonation. And I really wanted it to capture the performance, and I didn’t want people to think I had an accent.”

he process of recording each language took about five days in a recording studio for DeVito and his advisers. The biggest lesson he learned in that time was that he should’ve kept things simpler when recording the English version — or at least stopped for a breath more often. “There are about 90 lines of mine in the movie, and some of them, sometimes you can’t break them up,” he explains. “Like if you say to me, ‘Coma esta usted?’ That’s one thing. Or in Italian if you say, ‘una tazza di

caffe’ — that means a cup of coffee — it’s easy. But if you’re saying something like, ‘Didn’t you see me come out of that stump with all the lightning and the thunder and this and that? Did you chop down that tree?’ Well, I didn’t think I was going to be doing this when I said those lines back then and didn’t spit in the middle.”

Normally, animated films get dubbed by local actors for each territory, so isn’t he technically taking work away from

“I did some Russian interviews on the phone and different places, and I always preface it with, ‘I know that you guys have great actors to do this,’” DeVito explains. “It was just one of those things where I got it in my head to do it, and once I said I would do it I didn’t want to back down.”

A lot of people go into interviews only thinking about themselves: “How am I going to make them think that I’m great?� But if you can think about it from their perspective, you can really help yourself.

They don’t just want someone great; they want a great fit for who they are. The goal is to sound more like a peer or an industry insider, rather than someone starting from the beginning.

What are some common beginner mistakes?

I’m always surprised how many recruiters say people are late or dressed improperly. Another obvious no-no is leaving your cell phone on during the interview. Don’t tell them you’re interested in other fields. It’s OK to have other interests, but your job in the interview is to get that specific job. Don’t talk about anything salary-related in the initial interview.

The gas problem: Whose fault is it?

As a consumer who depends on driving to get to work, I am appalled how we are being ripped off at the pump — and I feel the reasons are most troubling. There are the threats coming from Iran, and then there are the Democratic policies that do little to stop the rising costs. Then there are the Wall Street speculators who profit when the price of oil is forced up — at consumers’ expense. The Democrats’ answer is more fuelefficient cars, which will take years to accomplish; then you have the Republican answer, which is drill, drill, drill — also no help in the short-term. I don’t know the answer, but I think the silent majority needs to rise up and say, “Enough is enough, we are mad as hell and we won’t

The blood had not dried from the cut on McDonagh’s right cheek, a reminder of the five-on-five gang fight immediately after the Rangers defeated the Bruins, 4-3. The win was the Rangers’ third straight over the Bruins and fifth-straight dating back to last season.

“Just emotions run high. It’s good stuff,” McDonagh said of the clash. McDonagh and Mi-

lan Lucic exchanged gloved punches after Boston’s left wing had hit the Rangers defenseman high and from behind to spark the scrum.

“I was trying to get the puck and he punched me. I punched him back,” Lucic said matterof-factly. “And that generally leads to a scrum.”

That both teams exchanged right crosses and cross words at the conclusion of the 60minute litmus test was not surprising. Nor will it surprise if these two teams find themselves embroiled in a playoff series in May.

What remains to be determined is whether brawn or ability reigns supreme.

“We have confidence in this room. We didn't panic after the second period when they took

over,” Marian Gaborik said.

“We found a way to score one [more] goal than them.”

They got off to a strange start as first baseman Ike Davis was diagnosed with valley fever, a lung infection caused by desert climates. He lives in Arizona. Davis said yesterday he feels no symptoms and doctors have cleared him to play — but the Mets don’t have a timetable yet for his return.

David Wright, meanwhile, is being held out of spring training games indefinitely with what has been termed “discomfort” in his left rib cage.
