Living the good, clean life in the big, bad city Newest Jet looking for some wholesome fun Tim Tebow finds himself the hottest pew ticket in town Just don't expect to find him in the club GETTY IMAGES
Tim Tebow will be officially unveiled as a Jet today during a team press conference at noon, but the evangelical QB has already gotten a taste of what big, bad New York City has to offer. That is, if attending a Saturday night showing of “Wicked” is your definition of being naughty. The newest Jet took in the Broadway show after arriving in town Thursday. And if he’s looking for a church on Sunday mornings, several have already come courting: The minister of Life Christian Church in West Orange, N.J., offered him an invitation to attend and Christian City Church in Midtown also said they want him as a member. Tebow has scouted out homes in Morristown, N.J. and the mayor, Tim Dougherty, offered the quarterback a tour, saying the quaint, white-picket-fence hamlet would be a perfect place for Tebow, as opposed to the island of Manhat-

tan. FOX Sports, citing an anonymous source, said Jets officials are actually encouraging Tebow to live in New Jersey, far from the temptations of the city that never sleeps. “They are not going to want
him to be influenced and distracted in the city,” said the source. If Saturday night is any indication, Tebow, who is a devout Christian, teetotaler and virgin, will be pursuing good, clean fun when he crosses the
river. At Jay-Z’s 40/40 club, he can order sparkling cider, which workers promised to keep on hand for him. And Brother Jimmy’s BBQ created a “No Sex on the Beach” drink in his honor, a virgin version of the original. The Carnegie Deli will unveil the “Jetbow” sandwich today. This is the first time in 55 years that the city institution has served a sandwich made with mayonnaise and white bread, instead of the traditional rye. “It’s because Tim Tebow is the all-American boy,” owner Sandy Levine told Metro. “He’s been a model child of America, and everybody knows white bread and mayonnaise throughout America.” ALISON BOWEN

When they arrived, a man told them that his girlfriend, 42, had taken kitchen knives and was stabbing herself. The woman threw a 10-inch knife, which struck an officer’s hand, and officers shot her in the thigh after she refused to drop the second knife. The woman is in stable condition. METRO/AB

Sen. bashes employers seeking Facebook data Asking for usernames, passwords in job interviews may be illegal, pol says Requests feds investigate GETTY IMAGES
Potential employers should not be able to request your Facebook password to comb your profile before they make hiring decisions, U.S. Sen. Charles Schumer said yesterday. According to reports, some employers are asking applicants for Facebook usernames and passwords so they can look through biographical information. Schumer, a Democrat who represents New York, said that employers who make such outrageous requests may be violating federal law. The Associated Press reported that one statistician applying for jobs in New York City was asked for his Facebook username and password during interviews. According to the AP, Justin Bassett was interviewing for a job when the interviewer searched for his Facebook page in front of him. When she discovered that the profile was private, she asked him to log in. He refused and withdrew his application.
“Employers have no right to ask job applicants for their house keys or to read their diaries. Why should they be able to ask them for their Facebook passwords?” SEN. CHARLES SCHUMER
Facebook responded to the complaints on Friday, saying that those who ask for passwords are violating their policies and such a request “undermines the privacy expectation and the security of both the user and the user’s friends.” “Employers have no business asking for your Facebook password,” Schumer agreed. Schumer asked the federal Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and Justice Department to determine whether the practice is illegal. He pointed out that giving over Facebook passwords could provide employers access to information they otherwise cannot ask about, like religion, marital status or age. Last week, Illinois lawmakers introduced a bill that would make the increasingly common practice illegal in that state. ALISON BOWEN

Rallies held around the country for Trayvon Martin

Rallies are being held in cities across the country this weekend to protest the failure of police to arrest a Florida neighborhood watch volunteer for shooting to death an unarmed black teenager. Protesters, some dressed in “hoodie” hooded sweatshirts like the kind 17-year-old Trayvon Martin wore at the time of his death, gathered for events in Columbia, S.C.; Washington, D.C.; and Chicago on Saturday. A protest is planned today in Sanford, Fla., the Orlando suburb where the shooting took place. Martin was shot dead on Feb. 26 after George Zimmerman, 28, a white Hispanic neighborhood watch captain, believed the young man walking through the gated community in a hoodie looked suspicious. Killings occurred in two waves The U.S. Army sergeant accused of killing 17 Afghan civilians is believed to have carried out the rampage in two stages, returning to base after the first shootings and then going out to kill again, a U.S. official said on Saturday. The official, speaking on condition of anonymity, did not offer further details
about the investigation into the March 11 shooting spree in southern Afghanistan, which has further eroded U.S.-Afghan relations already frayed by a decade of war. But the disclosure points to an extended timeline for the alleged killing rampage by Staff Sergeant Robert Bales, a decorated 38-yearold veteran of four combat tours in Iraq and Afghanistan. REUTERS
A villager points to a spot where a family was allegedly shot in their residence by Staff Sergeant Robert Bales in Alkozai village of Panjwai district, Kandahar province.
Afghans: US paid $50,000 per shooting spree death U.S. authorities have given cash compensation to the families of Afghans killed in a shooting rampage allegedly carried out by an American soldier in Kandahar province, a family member and a tribal elder said yesterday. The families received around $50,000 for each person killed and about $10,000 for each wounded in the shootings in two villages in Panjwai district earlier this month. Afghan officials say 16 people, including nine children and women, were killed in the attacks. “We were invited by the foreign and Afghan officials in Panjwai yesterday, and they said this money is an assistance from Obama,” Haji Jan Agha, who said he lost his cousins in the attack, told Reuters — referring to President Barack Obama.
The U.S. embassy directed all questions to the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force, which is fighting the war in Afghanistan. An ISAF spokesman said he was in not in a position to either confirm or deny whether compensation was given or not — and if so, how much. Lieutenant Commander Brian Badura said that as a matter of policy ISAF does not make restitution for losses resulting from combat, combat-related activities or operational necessity. “Individual troop contributing nations may participate in some form of restitution consistent with the cultural norms of Afghanistan,” he said. “Settlement can come in a number of forms which may [be], but is not always, financial.” REUTERS

Cheney’s transplant followed a series of procedures in recent years to extend the use of his heart. Cheney had bypass surgery in 1988 and later had two angioplasties. he moment that conservative America has been waiting for these past two years is nearly upon us. This week the Supreme Court will hear arguments to determine the constitutionality of ObamaCare, the health care reform law that has become the president’s signature legislative accomplishment as well as the most powerful weapon in his rivals’ arsenal. Justices will devote three days of oral arguments to the issue — the most consideration given to any one law in nearly five decades — but particular attention should be paid to tomorrow’s debate concerning the individual mandate, that component of the law that imposes a low annual fee on individuals who refuse to pursue insurance coverage. The legality of the individual mandate, widely demonized by the right as a freedom-crushing measure synonymous with government takeover, may determine the ultimate fate of the whole song and dance. (Point of fact: The individual mandate is a Republican

ObamaCare? A quick update on the language: President Obama, on the reform law’s twoyear anniversary last week, finally embraced the “ObamaCare” smear once and for all. “You want to call it ObamaCare,” he told an Atlanta audience on Friday, “that’s OK, because I do care.” We therefore feel it is now appropriate to refer to the dreaded health law as its right-wing opponents intended.
idea, developed by a conservative think tank, first proposed by Republican legislators, originally made law by a Republican governor and now vehemently opposed nearly uniformly by the Republican party.)
S
o why the individual mandate? Well, conservative experts — including, perhaps most infamously, former Mass. Gov. Mitt Romney — understood the economic necessity of bringing more individuals into the private insurance system as a means of lowering costs and improving services. The individual mandate, they concluded, ensures that insurers remain profitable enough to provide highlevel services to all Americans. In an unabashed indictment of party politics, conservatives opposed the idea as soon as Obama picked it up in 2008. But supporters of the socalled mandate point out that current industry wrongs — like excluding pre-existing conditions and shifting health costs onto taxpayers — far exceed any freedom crushing that might be claimed against it. As MIT economist Jonathan Gruber puts it: “No longer will people be bankrupted because they have a bad gene or a bad traffic accident.” The Supreme Court won’t come back with a decision until sometime this summer. If the justices rule against the mandate, that could tank the whole law. And if they don’t? Well, don’t expect Republicans to let that get in the way. ‘MDNA’ is potent stuff Madonna is a bitch out of order, a bat out of hell and a fish out of water. At least that’s what she compares herself to in the song “Gang Bang,” off her brand new album, “MDNA.” The album officially comes out tomorrow, though it leaked online late last week. Madge’s claim about being broken, angry and alienated is a succinct self-analysis. It’s been four years since her last album of new material, the longest gap of her nearly 30-year career, which would explain the fish-out-of-water feeling. As far as the bitch out of order and the bat out of hell, her venomous personal lyrics on this album make it difficult to distinguish Madonna, the pop legend from Madonna, the mortal whose eight-year marriage to director Guy Ritchie ended in a bitter divorce. “I tried to be a good girl, I tried to be your wife,” she

If she can’t define the times, she’s certainly not going to be behind them. And really, anybody she’s borrowing from wouldn’t be making music if it weren’t for her. The racecar basslines and Skrillexstyle monster breakdown would seem forced if not done properly. But it’s Madonna, and even if she is a fish out of water, she can always get into the groove.

‘Hunger Games’ stuns with $155M opening “The Hunger Games” opened with a staggering $155 million in estimated U.S. and Canadian weekend ticket sales, beating Hollywood’s loftiest expectations and ranking as the third-highest domestic opening in history. The debut for the film, which tells the story of an oppressive society’s teen death match, ranked behind only last summer’s “Harry Potter” finale and 2008’s “The Dark Knight,” distributor Lionsgate Entertainment said. The performance topped industry forecasts for an opening of about $125 million. “Hunger Games” set records for highest opening of a film that was not a sequel and biggest debut outside of the summer blockbuster season, Lionsgate said. Fear-mongers are only going to bring you down
DIGITAL VISION
The question: I’m embarking on a number of personal changes in my life and will need full support from my friends. For whatever reason, they tend to be negative about everything and not very supportive of me. Why are they like that and what should I do?
S
imply put: They’re fearmongers. They could win the lottery and find something wrong with it, have the day off from work and whine or get promoted only to moan and groan. They complain about everything and anything, so don’t personalize it. It’s important to surround yourself with positive people as you embark on change. To help you weed out those who aren’t, take a look at the checklist below. Think about people in your life and ask yourself the following:
crisis in the person’s life? Does the person have a victim’s mentality?
Is the person generally negative? Is the person unhappy in his or her career, family and/or relationships? Do you feel exhausted after spending time with the person? Is the person demanding or self-absorbed? Is there a lot of drama and

DREAM JOB: LEGO’S MASTER MODEL BUILDER

As the new Master Model Builder of LEGOLAND Discovery Center Chicago, the 23-year-old designs 3-D LEGO models for the families that visit. Last week, he completed his first display since starting full-time at the beginning of the month. “I just made a cardinal — that’s the state bird of Illinois,” he tells us. “It’s a lot of fun to be able to design something and watch it come into creation so fast.” Plenty of aspects of the job could be described as “a lot of fun,” which is why the position isn’t easy to come by. There are only four Master Model Builders in the U.S. and an additional eight abroad. Johnson landed the gig after competing against eight other finalist applicants in a “buildoff,” during which he created
His building style Johnson has been playing with LEGOs since he was a child, but sharpened his skills while working at a camp where the toys were used to teach architecture and engineering. “There are people who have a lot of kits, but I’m more of a free-builder — I haven’t used instructions in a long time,” he says. “I don’t buy kits, just the basic building blocks. It’s a lot of trial and error.”

Tools for finding the perfect job
hen you’re on the job hunt, it’s easy to take an “anything will work approach to the scope of your search. Everyone remembers the grade-school saying “beggars can’t be choosers, but it’s not enjoyable to be saddled with a job that’s not a good fit. Here’s some good news: There are simple tools that will not only ensure the jobs you’re applying to are great fits for your personality, but also customize your current job portfolio to give you an edge. Here’s a roundup of four tools that can give you the edge in finding the perfect job.
CREATAS
For weekly social media and Web job listings, visit www.mashable.com.
Resunate It’s easy to think of a potential employer as the venerable “man behind the curtain.â€? Resunate attempts to get rid of the curtain altogether by showing users just how their rĂŠsumĂŠs look to a recruiter or potential employer. This tool parses your entire uploaded resume and compares it to the description of the job you’re after, acting the way an employer’s applicant tracking system would work. Then, you get a score from 1 to 10 that determines how well your application would stack up in the ATS.
LunchMeet Oftentimes, securing the job that’s perfect for you isn’t about what you know, but who you know. LunchMeet is a spanking-new mobile app that gives you the opportunity to put yourself in front of business recruiters, upper-level execs and others in your industry
without pressure. Simply sign up with your LinkedIn account and search to see what professionals are available for networking over lunch or coffee. Meeting with these professionals is also a great way to get an inside look at a company if you’re looking to break in or change industries.
Indeed Indeed‘s search engine makes the pain of the search a little simpler. Thanks to its minimalist and straightforward design, it just takes a couple of seconds to set up a recurring search protocol and a profile that displays your rĂŠsumĂŠ to potential recruiters. With no up-front cost and little hassle, it’s also easy to set up an alert system that will e-mail you whenever a potentially relevant job — based on strictly specified keywords — comes up.
Glassdoor If you’re interested in learning about the HR culture and work environment at a company, Glassdoor is a mustuse. With everything from interview recaps to blind salary reports, Glassdoor gives the skinny on all aspects of a company from anonymous voices on the inside. Another useful feature of the website is the “CEO Approval Rating, letting you know how employees feel about their leader and upper management. LAUREN HOCKENSON FOR

Leftists too smart for our own good RE: “BLACK-AND-WHITE WORLDVIEW FALLS FLAT”: I have to
laugh at the responses to my letter printed on Thursday. I built what I thought was a straw man of leftist ideologies — a caricature — and left-wingers defended it! I am shocked by the responses of people who are “better educated” and “smarter” than me. Sadly their idea of critical thinking amounts to “Bush lied, people died” and bad-mouthing Fox News. Never would they question anything MSNBC or any other corporate-owned leftist propaganda outlet spouted. JOSHUA TORDOFF, VIA E-MAIL
Liberals and conservatives are two sides of the same coin. Presidents on both sides have started unjust and aggressive
wars without the authority of Congress. Both sides use bailouts and/or stimulus as justification to “save” the economy. And both sides have increased the budget and expanded the debt since the 1920s. All of these activities by our federal government rip off the people every day. KELLY DONNOE, LYNBROOK
Trayvon Martin: Justice served? Obama’s appeal to the hearts and souls of Americans as a result of the overzealous, fatal actions of George Zimmerman should not have depended on whether Trayvon Martin was black, white or yellow or that he might have looked like Obama’s son. It appears that Obama expresses concern only if an outrage occurs against a
black. When the Black Panthers intimidated whites at voting booths Obama’s black attorney general, Eric Holder, refused to prosecute. I want a president who represents all races, not just his own! JOSEPH DUPONT, VIA E-MAIL The shooting of unarmed Trayvon should not have happened. A nation is outraged, and rightly so, when a neighborhood watch goes beyond the law. FREDERICK R. presidential candidates must believe Romney’s Etch-ASketch tactic will work for them as well. Realistically, however, there’s simply no erasing the dismal record of just how fiscally irresponsible the Republican Party is when it comes to the economy. President Bush turned a record surplus into a record deficit by implementing numerous disastrous fiscal policies during his presidency. Putting a Republican back in charge of the economy is equivalent to putting a fox in charge of the hen house, and America most definitely cannot afford it.

Joba released from hospital
GETTY IMAGES
Chamberlain recovering from gruesome ankle injury Will be in cast for six weeks Future still unknown Yankees pitcher Joba Chamberlain was released from the hospital yesterday afternoon after suffering a freak ankle injury Thursday. Chamberlain was on a trampoline at a local recreation center with his son Karter when he suffered an open dislocation of his right ankle. The bone protruded through his skin and Chamberlain reportedly lost a large amount of blood. He underwent surgery at the hospital immediately. Since Friday, when Yankees general manager Brian Cashman first spoke with reporters, Chamberlain’s outlook has improved, but there is still no timetable for his return. He will be in a cast for six weeks. The Yankees feared the in-

Anyone hoping to get a look at young phenom Matt Harvey hopefully got to the ballpark early. The 2010 first-round pick lasted just one inning and allowed five earned runs on seven hits. He gave up solo home runs to Ian Desmond, Jayson Werth and Roger Bernadina. On the opposing side, Stephen Strasburg looked impressive. He pitched five scoreless innings.
jury might be career-threatening initially, but that looks unlikely now. Cashman said yesterday the injury recovery was progressing “as well as can be expected.” Chamberlain was already working his way back from Tommy John surgery last June. The Yankees and Tigers called it after 10 innings of tied baseball yesterday afternoon. Michael Pineda started and looked sharp. He pitched five innings and allowed one run. He had four strikeouts. Derek Jeter, meanwhile, led off the game with a home run. MARK OSBORNE

Mr. Tebow, meet the press On the day before Tim Tebow was to be thrown to the New York media wolves, Jets owner Woody Johnson made it expressly clear the trade was solely for on-the-field reasons. “Let me be really clear about this, we work for the fans and the fans want us to win games,” Johnson said at the NFL’s annual spring meeting yesterday. “So all of the decisions we make regarding the team are just for football. It’s hard to predict other things.” Financial analysts may disagree. Jockey, one of Tebow’s endorsers, has already posted a giant billboard near the Lincoln Tunnel. Former Jets lineman Damien Woody straight out called it “a marketing ploy.” Not so, says Johnson. “Tim Tebow will be a good addition to the team,” he said. “From a football standpoint, he adds flexibility, versatility [and] he’s a great athlete and he’s a big athlete.” He could also add a huge headache for Mark Sanchez and head coach Rex Ryan. Sanchez was signed to an extension just a few weeks ago and while general manager Mike Tannenbaum repeatedly stated in a conference call last week that Sanchez was the

starter, Ryan has already heard the questions. “I told [Sanchez] we got another competitor who is going to make our team better," Ryan told ESPN. “Mark wants to win. He’s good.” The New York Post reported yesterday that some teammates were already grumbling about
the treatment afforded their new teammate — a backup quarterback. And yet, when Tebow is introduced today at noon they will be doing it from a practice field instead of the media room. The media room wasn’t big enough the Jets said. METRO/MO

Red Bulls beat Rapids in NY debut GETTY IMAGES
They said it wasn’t a must-win game, not entering their third game of the season after an 02 start, but the New York Red Bulls sure played like the fate of their season rested on this match. They got the complete effort they needed in yesterday’s 4-1 win over Colorado in their home opener. Behind two goals and an assist by Thierry Henry and a
Kenny Cooper brace, the Red Bulls frustrated a depleted Rapids midfield. After starting the season with road losses in Dallas and Salt Lake by a combined 4-1 mark over the past two weeks, New York needed this win. “You lost two games, you know, you’re a little bit under pressure,” head coach Hans Backe said. “You need to per-

The Red Bulls came out with determination after their rocky starts in the past two games. Within six minutes, both Henry and Cooper had scored giving New York a lead they would never relinquish. were playing with great energy and enthusiasm. It was great to get off to a good start in the game. From back to front, everyone was fantastic, from the first minute to the last guys were tuned in,” Cooper said. “The important thing is obviously the result.” KRISTIAN DYER sports@metro.us

Woods gets first PGA win in over two years Shoots 2-under Sunday Jeffries
Jeffries missed four games earlier this month due to a right leg injury and 10 games at the start of the season with right calf problems. Jeffries had surgery in the knee last year. The Knicks take on the Milwaukee Bucks tonight at Madison Square Garden at 7:30 on MSG. METRO
Tiger Woods is back on top of golf. And really, when you’ve won 71 PGA Tour events, what’s two and a half years between victories? Woods went into the final round of yesterday’s Arnold Palmer Invitational at Bay Hill with a one-stroke lead. By the time he’d played one hole he had a three stroke lead and after 18 holes he’d cruised to a two-under day and five-stroke win. Just two weeks ago, Woods walked off the course at the Cadillac Championships after injuring his left Achilles tendon. And the downward spiral talk renewed itself again. Woods answered in resounding fashion this weekend. Woods led the tournament in birdies made and stared down Graeme McDowel, who was ranked as high as No. 4 in the World Golf Rank-
Standings Final standings for the Arnold Palmer Invitational. Tiger Woods (-13) Graeme McDowell (-8) Ian Poulter (-6) Kevin Na (-5) Bubba Watson (-5)
ings last season, in the final round. Woods’ last win came Sept. 13, 2009 in the BMW Championship. He won six tournament that season and none since. If he was going to break his drought anywhere, it’s no surprise he did it here. The win was his seventh career at Bay Hill. The Masters are just two weeks away. METRO
Woods has historically used Bay Hill as a tune-up to the Masters, which begin April 5.
