For 30-year-old James Bishai, style has no age.

That’s why the South End fashion designer launched Watchout! Designs, a company that offers retro watches and apparel that he describes as “an explosion of neon and colors.”

“There is definitely a return to people trying to find something fun and unique to stand out. It doesn’t matter your age,” said Bishai, who’s as comfortable wearing a Mickey Mouse sweater at the bar as he was wearing it in the schoolyard.

Bishai is one of a growing number of grown-ups who aren’t afraid to let their inner kid shine through in their duds — and as the trend grows, the likelihood that they will draw criticism for going out on a fashion limb shrinks.

“People are definitely dressing more youthful at an older age,” said Jay Calderin, creator of Boston Fashion Week and the director of creative market-

For Calderin, it’s all about empowerment: “I think when you’re in your teens and early 20s, you’re forging your identity — and when you get older that tends to get lost. It’s great now people are empowered about getting that back.”

Veterans parade winds through Boston

The American Legion of Massachusetts held its annual Veterans Day parade in Boston yesterday. The march kicked off at 1 p.m. at the corner of Boylston and Charles streets and finished up at City Hall Plaza. The military parade was followed by another march, put on by local Veterans for Peace, a group that calls for the end of all wars. METRO

Boston Police are on the hunt for a man who forced his way into a Beacon Hill home around 3:15 a.m. Saturday and sexually assaulted and robbed a woman living there.

Police said the man forced his way into an apartment in the area of Joy and Myrtle streets and showed the woman a weapon, possibly a knife.

Police released a photo of the man suspected in the assault. He is shown using an ATM machine and is described as a black male with braided hair, and in his late 20s to early 30s.

Saturday’s attack has left people living in Beacon Hill — one of the city’s most expensive and desirable neighborhoods — on edge and has prompted police to issue a community alert.

“We know these [community] alerts generate a great amount of concern in our neighborhoods, and we want you to know that we are just as concerned as you are,” said Boston Police Department Deputy Superintendent Kelly Nee, who did not give any more specifics on Saturday’s attack.

Massachusetts leads the nation in offering benefits and services to veterans and their families. Through Chapter 115 financial assistance, the state provides more than $60 million annually to help veterans with food, shelter, supplies and medical care. Despite an adultery scandal that ended David Petraeus’ tenure as CIA chief, the general may be called to testify in a Senate inquiry into the killing of four Americans at the U.S. consulate in Benghazi, Libya, Senator Dianne Feinstein said yesterday.

Feinstein, the chairwoman of the Senate Intelligence Committee, said on the “Fox News Sunday” program that Petraeus’ resignation on Friday “was like a lightning bolt.”

She said there will be an investigation into why the FBI failed to inform her and others on the intelligence committee before Friday about the extramarital affair between Petraeus and his biographer, Paula Broadwell, when the FBI probe had been proceeding for weeks.

Business leaders, celebrities logging in to LinkedIn LinkedIn is rolling out a couple of new tools to make it easier for users to find celebrities, business leaders and personalities to follow from the social network’s roster of about 150 “thought leaders.�

Last month, LinkedIn announced a new follow feature for a select group of influencers, including big names like Virgin CEO Richard Branson, author Tony Robbins, President Obama and Mashable’s CEO and founder, Pete Cashmore.

Since then, these influencers have shared 850 posts ranging from author Gretchen Rubin’s piece about the most dangerous form of procrastination to Branson’s musing about why more business leaders aren’t online.

The new tools, which LinkedIn announced in a blog post last week, include a leaderboard that displays the total number of followers for each influencer as well as options to sort each

of the thought leaders alphabetically and by who has posted most recently.

LinkedIn will also begin offering users customized suggestions for influencers they might want to follow, based on their interests.

To date, the LinkedIn leaderboard shows that Richard Branson is by far the most followed, with nearly 700,000 followers. President Obama is a distant second with nearly 400,000 followers and his former Republican opponent for president Mitt Romney has about half that many, making him the fourth most followed.

By building on this network of influencers, LinkedIn simultaneously encourages big name personalities to become more active on the social network and potentially boosts engagement between users overall.

erenice who? You’re forgiven if you don’t recognize the name of the latest Bond Girl — the French actress, 33, is known, if at all, for a few TV roles in France. She didn’t break out until moving to Los Angeles, where she was cast as the latest baddie in “Skyfall.� We got her on the phone for a little girl talk.

When you got the part, did you think, “Wow, I’m a Bond Girl, I

Not at all. I find that kind of reaction really stupid. I’m amazed at how people think they can judge me as an actress based on the pictures they have seen of me. It’s very disturbing when people assume becoming a Bond Girl is a beauty contest.

It really isn’t. I’m an actress. I auditioned for the part. The Bond girl is a concept. So when people ask me how it feels to be one, I have trouble taking it all in. Maybe the fact I got to inter-

irector Sam Mendes has been working on “Skyfall,” the 23rd James Bond film, for quite some time, thanks in large part to parent studio MGM’s financial woes that halted preproduction for nearly a year. So what did the Oscarwinning director learn during his extended tenure with the franchise?

MGM’s bankruptcy issues were a blessing in disguise.

“We had a stroke of luck on this movie, ultimately, which was at the time one of the most frustrating things — which was the temporary bankruptcy of MGM — which for me was a bit of a nightmare because I’d really prepped the movie and was ready to go into full-scale pre-production, and we had to halt everything, if you remember, for something like nine

months,” Mendes explains.

“But in that time we worked on the script. I knew every scene intimately, and we kept working. We had two weeks of rehearsals, which is a relatively new thing for the Bond franchise. We had a read-through of the script, and [series producer] Barbara [Broccoli] said to me, ‘It’s the first read-through we’ve ever had of a Bond movie!’”

Referencing classic Bond has to be handled carefully.

“I felt about the homage elements that you have to earn them. I think if you put them in at the wrong time, they’re going to strike a false note,” he says.

Before Daniel Craig, the franchise had made a few wrong turns.

“The thing about Bond for me, watching the old movies, is that there was a point around ‘Moonraker’ where it lost some

I’m being unfair to some of the movies in between, but I felt like in ‘Casino Royale,’ Bond was back at the center of the movie. He actually had a journey, he had some emotional stake. So to try to find that kind of personal weight in the center of the movie was really important.”

James Bond will return, but Sam Mendes probably won’t.

“It’s been a fantastic experience, but it’s been completely exhausting,” says Mendes, who

adds that he completed work on the film on Oct. 9. “Do I want to do another one? I’m a shadow of my former self.

[Laughs] No, I don’t know. I felt like everything I wanted to do with a Bond movie, I put into this film. So I would have to be convinced that I could do something that I loved and cared about as much if I was to do it again. I think the great risk of repeating oneself is that one doesn’t have the great store of ideas that you have when you first tackle a subject.”

But I didn’t want to postpone the shows — one was pretty much sold out. I just kept thinking, ‘What the hell can I do?’ And this makes the most sense.”

Deacon grew up on Long Island and his latest album, “America,” takes a long look at his homeland.

“The record is a dichotomy of how I feel about the country — a kind of mix of pride and

shame,” he says. “The musical aspect discusses my personal issues and what my role in the system is.”

As we chat on Election Day, Deacon isn’t looking to politicians or musicians to better his life or the world: “It’s daunting if you think about every aspect of one’s role,” he says. “I try to address them one at a time, then great personal advances can be made. In my own life, I try to make day-to-day life more in line with my ideals.”

he light bulb is on. You have a bright idea to improve things in your workplace. But how do you get your brilliant concept from thought-bubble to reality?

It can be tempting to keep your head down and stick within your daily to-do list, but if you have a good idea, it could benefit the company and your job standing. Being able to effectively communicate your ideas to your boss is crucial to improving your worth to a company.

Here are five tips to ensure that you don’t strike out when pitching your ideas to upper management:

Time it right Right before a big deadline or client meeting is probably not the best time to shoot your boss an e-mail about new and exciting things. Try to time your pitch for when you know your boss will have the time and focus to read it through. Be confident Before you convince other people that your idea is great, you first have to convince yourself.

league in rushing and tied for sixth in fewest sacks allowed, an indication at what is driving this top-ranked offense. But Dan Connolly hurt his back in the first half and Logan Mankins suffered a leg injury on a sack of Brady in the third, incidentally the first time a defense had gotten to Brady in nearly two games.
