Weiner says he may run in New York mayoral bid
NEWS
Second act. Tainted ex-congressman says he’s thinking about mayoral run The race to succeed New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg could receive a dose of intrigue with former Congressman Anthony Weiner considering a run for office two years after he stepped away from politics in a scandal over lewd pictures. Weiner, who has a sizable campaign war chest and strong name recognition, could pose a challenge to City Council Speaker Christine Quinn, who is considered the front-runner and would be the city’s first female and first lesbian mayor.

“You’re talking about a city where anything can happen at any time and generally does,” Democratic consultant Hank Sheinkopf said. In an interview with The New York Times Magazine, Weiner said that, after spending $100,000 on polling, he had concluded voters might be willing to give him a second chance. “I don’t have this burning, overriding desire to go out and run for office,” said Weiner, a Democrat who was once considered an early front-runner in the race. “It’s not the single animating force in my life as it was for quite some time. But I do recognize, to some degree, it’s now or maybe never for me, in terms of running for something.” REUTERS

Concert. Some urge boycott of Rick Ross for ‘rape’ lyrics New Yorkers planning to see hip-hop artist Rick Ross this Friday in Long Island should save their cash, City Council members advised yesterday. Bronx Councilman Andy King said that he is “outraged” by the artist’s lyrics, which describe date rape. “Save your money,”
King said to New Yorkers who might be pondering tickets. Council members called on New Yorkers to boycott the concert, and some went further — Brooklyn Councilwoman Letitia James said all Americans should boycott Reebok, his sponsor, until it drops him. ALISON BOWEN
Analysis
Swift downfall Once seen as a rising star among Democrats, Weiner, 48, established himself as a leading liberal voice in the House of Representatives. He was known for making fiery speeches on the House floor on issues including expanding health-care access and aiding first responders to the Sept. 11 attacks who suffered health consequences. Weiner, who resigned from Congress in June 2011, had made an unsuccessful run for mayor in 2005. His downfall came quickly in 2011 after he accidentally posted a lewd photograph of himself on Twitter. The married politician had intended it only for a woman with whom he had been sharing messages. East Harlem sex crimes on the rise
Big jump. There has been a 35 percent increase in sex crimes in the neighborhood.
“The spike in sexual assault complaints in East Harlem is alarming,” Manhattan Councilwoman Jessica Lappin said. Lappin, along with State Sen. Jose Serrano, handed out the flyers yesterday at the East 116th Street 6 train subway station. “It’s even more concerning that there is likely underreporting, especially
among the immigrant community, which makes it even more important that we’re out here today,” Serrrano said. Anyone experiencing something like this should call 911 or NYPD Crime Stoppers at 800-577-TIPS.

Sex crimes are increasing at an “alarming” rate uptown, politicians said yes-
terday. NYPD crime stats as of March 31 show a 35 percent increase in misdemeanor sex crimes in northern Manhattan, compared to the same time two years ago. And the NYPD fielded 13 sexual assault complaints so far in the East Harlem police precinct during 2013, compared to three in 2011, officials said.

Bill puts bite in ‘Do Not Solicit’ signs
Occupy Wall Street will receive $233,350 from the city and Brookfield Properties in a settlement Tuesday over damages to their library during the 2011 protest. While most of the funds will cover legal costs, $47,000 will go to Occupy for book losses in the Nov. 15, 2011, cleanup.
Door-to-door sales people could face fines of $1,000 for ignoring “Do Not Solicit” signs if Councilman Peter F. Vallone’s newest proposed law passes. “People should not have to be subjected to scam artists and pushy sales people at their own homes,” Vallone said.

Public Advocate Bill de Blasio said he will sue the city after students were sent to the emergency room when they showed behavioral problems. De Blasio filed a lawsuit on Tuesday for data surrounding such incidents. His concern, he said, is that with inadequate mental health services in schools, more educators are simply dialing 911 when students have outbursts. This means more kids at the hospital instead of at school — and possibly more traumatized chil-
dren, he said. The State Supreme Court lawsuit demands documents from 2005 to 2010, including age, ethnicity and behavioral problems of each child. He also wants to know how much parents had to pay for each incident. “As a parent, I’d be furious if one of my kids was sent to an ER because the school didn’t know how to handle them. This is a disturbing reality for thousands of kids and parents,” de Blasio said.
Police are looking for a man who attempted to rob a woman and then sexually assaulted her while she was walking her dog in the Kips Bay neighborhood of Manhattan. The man approached the victim, 28, around 2 a.m. on April 6 on East 27th Street, police said. He displayed a black handgun and demanded Investigation

An above-average number of storms will emerge from the Atlantic this hurricane season, and the odds of the U.S. being hit by a major system are about 70 percent greater
than predicted last year, Colorado State University researchers said. Eighteen named storms will develop in 2013, the CSU forecasters said yesterday in their initial seasonal outlook. Nine of the systems are expected to become hurricanes, four of them major systems of Category 3 or higher with winds of at least 111 miles per hour. The CSU team estimated the chances of a major hurricane strike on the U.S. this year at 72 percent, compared with 42 percent last year. Sandy, which devastated parts of

Obama. Budget aims to kick-start deficit reduction talks President Barack Obama proposed a $3.77 trillion budget yesterday that combines controversial cuts to social safety net programs with tax increases on the wealthy. The package is meant to lure Republicans to negotiate a broad deficitreduction plan, but the details mirror a proposal Obama laid out last year that was rejected by Republican leaders. Obama’s budget for fiscal year 2014, which begins on October 1, would trim the deficit over three years by requiring people making more than $1 million
annually to pay more in taxes while enacting spending cuts that would replace the “sequester reductions that went into place last month. It has little chance of becoming law. Many Republicans reject Obama’s push for tax increases and many Democrats oppose cuts to the popular Social Security retirement program. But both sides want to lower the deficit, which Obama’s budget projected would fall to 744 billion in 2014. REUTERS

vative Republican efforts to block the bill from even reaching a vote. Manchin and Toomey said their measure would expand criminal background checks for prospective gun buyers to include sales made at gun shows and online, closing a ma-
jor loophole in a system that analysts say allows as many as 40 percent of gun buyers to avoid checks. But the agreement, designed to keep guns out of the hands of dangerous criminals and the mentally ill, left significant exemptions for
“temporary transfers of weapons or private sales among friends and family members. No background checks would be required in such transactions. Other parts of Obama’s proposal have a slim chance of clearing the Senate. REUTERS

Isolation. Maine ‘hermit’ arrested, accused of food thefts A Maine man who walked into the woods shortly after the 1986 Chernobyl nuclear accident and lived as a hermit for almost three decades, supporting himself by stealing from nearby camps, was arrested last week, police said on Tuesday. Christopher Knight, 47, had lived nearly without human contact in a tent near a pond outside of Rome, Maine, about 20 miles north of the state capital Augusta, state police said. They arrested him early yesterday morning at the Pine Tree Camp, where he was stealing food, police said. They said Knight, now being held at Kennebec County Jail, confessed to burglarizing the camp about 50 times, taking food, clothing, propane tanks and other essentials. “Everything he owned

except for his eyeglasses was stolen,” said Stephen McCausland, a spokesman with the Maine State Police. Knight told the officers who arrested him that he had spoken with only one other person — a lone hiker — during his years of solitude. The man survived the brutal winters of central Maine, where winter overnight temperatures can drop well below freezing, by sleeping in multiple sleeping bags inside a tent that was covered with a tarp. The oldest collection of fossilized dinosaur eggshells and embryos, found in China, suggests the animals grew quickly and flexed their muscles before they hatched, making them ready for action at birth. The eggs and embryos were from about 190 million to 197 million years ago, during the early Jurassic period, according to a study published today in Nature. More than 200 bones were extracted at the site, near Dawa in southern China’s Yunnan,

near Myanmar. The bones are from about 20 embryos called Lufengosaurus, creatures that grew to about 26 feet long. An analysis of femurs, the longest bones in the leg, suggested they doubled in size while the dinosaurs were still embryos, from half an inch to an inch. It’s not clear how fast this happened, though it suggests the embryos developed quickly, the researchers said. “We are, for the first time, looking in great detail at how embryos in dinosaur eggs would have developed as they grew,” said Robert Reisz, a paleontologist at the University of Toronto, Mississauga, and leader of the international team that worked on the bones. “Others could only look at a single glimpse, when the death of the embryo was frozen.” BLOOMBERG

Margaret Bin Laden? Thousands celebrate Thatcher death
“Spread the word — because she’ll only die once!” — A dark but popular message from organizers of a “Thatcher’s Dead” party, which has been branded on T-shirts and coffee cups. Thousands attended celebrations of the former prime minister’s death Monday, and many more are expected at more than 20 events taking place
over the next week. Police are conducting surveillance ahead of a mass demonstration in central London on Saturday. A larger challenge will be for Thatcher’s public funeral Wednesday — “Operation True Blue” — which will use stop and search and armed units to guard against attack. KIERON MONKS/METRO WORLD NEWS
Conflict. Officials in Seoul said surveillance of North Korean activity had been enhanced. South Korea said yesterday there was “very high” probability that North Korea, engaged in weeks of threats of war, would launch a medium-range missile at any time as a show of strength despite diplomatic efforts to soften its position. Foreign Minister Yun Byung-se said South Korea had asked China and Russia to intercede with the North to ease tension that has mounted since the U.N. Security Council imposed fresh sanctions on North Korea after its third nuclear arms test in February.
But all was calm in the South Korean capital, Seoul, long accustomed to North Korean invective under its 30-year-old leader Kim Jong-un. Offices worked normally and customers crowded into city-center cafes. Seoul stocks edged up 0.77 percent from a fourand-a-half-month low hit earlier in the week, though trading was light with threats from the North still clouding the picture. The won currency gained 0.3 percent. North Korea observes several anniversaries in the next few days and they could be pretexts for displays of military strength. These include the first anniversary of Kim’s formal ascent to power, the 20th anniversary of rule by his father, Kim Jongil, who died in 2011. REUTERS

Twitter feed Checking in with some of Hollywood’s biggest names to see what they’ve been up to — in their own words, in 140 characters or fewer. Today, Joel McHale is a proud parent and Patton Oswalt is feeling less enthused about his victory. @joelmchale: Last week my 5yr old walked out on our hotel balcony & repeatedly screamed GIVE ME MONEY. I thought “Wow, someday he will be a great leader” @pattonoswalt: Sure, Diddy is dating @KateUpton. But did he win @ esquiremag’s Twitter War? Did he? DID HE?!? (Hugs crown, bursts into tears)
Tom Cruise is finally opening up about his divorce from Katie Holmes, which caught most of Hollywood off-guard. And it turns out it caught Cruise offguard as well. “I didn’t expect it,” he says in an interview with German TV station ProSieben. “To be 50 and to have experiences and to think you have a grip on everything, and then it hits you — this is it, what life can do to you. Life is a tragicomedy. You need to have a sense

Lindsay Lohan was nearly given quite the talking to by Liza Minnelli when the singer was reportedly approached by a Lohan pal to stage an intervention, according to Radar Online. Lohan’s friend, Claus Hjelmbak, was the one who is said to have reached out to Minnelli. “Claus thought that if anyone could get through to Lindsay, Liza could be that person.” So true: If Liza Minnelli thinks you’re doing too many drugs, you probably are.

Let’s get it on, Tisdale Film. The new star of the “Scary Movie” franchise talks about learning to watch actual scary movies and simulating sex with household objects. Here’s a challenge most actors don’t have to face: Doing last-minute reshoots that constitute more than half of the main plot of the movie. But that’s exactly what Ashley Tisdale found herself faced with when her bosses on “Scary Movie 5” decided they needed their spoof to be more up-todate and worked in some digs at this year’s horror hits. And they had to work fast. Of course, some of that might be Tisdale’s own fault, though. “I saw ‘Mama’ opening weekend,” Tisdale remembers. “I came out of there and I texted the producers, ‘Oh my gosh, like we should really be spoofing “Mama” because it just worked so well.’ And then [writer] Phil [Beauman] was like, ‘Funny, we’re actually going to spoof “Mama.”’ So then we saw it again.” By the actress’ estimation, the additional material spoofing “Mama” and “Evil Dead” — based solely on seeing the trailer — accounted for about 60 percent of the finished movie, done over about 10 days of filming. Before signing on for the latest in the “Scary

Movie” franchise, Tisdale was admittedly far from a horror fan. “I have always been really scared of scary movies just because I live by myself, and seeing something, then having a big imagination and then thinking you see it in the middle of the night [is terrifying],” she says. “So I’ve never been really into them. But it’s funny because doing this movie,
now I like them. Now I’ll go watch ‘Mama,’ because then I see things and I’m like, ‘Oh my gosh, that’s so spoof-able.’ Because sometimes it’s just so ridiculous.” But not nearly as ridiculous as simulating sex with household objects, something Tisdale was called on to do to excess for one overstuffed montage in “Scary Movie 5”
— with some covered during the initial filming and some added in at the last minute. It proved to be a steep learning curve. “I had humped a potted plant in Atlanta, and that was nerve-racking,” she remembers. “There was only one camera guy and they kept it really quiet, so it was OK. But by the time I got to having to be with the chair and the microwave and all over the place, I was just like, ‘Oh, I’ve got this. It’s fine that everybody’s watching.’” That earned confidence didn’t mean the performance was easy, though. “I do recall having
the hardwood chair hitting me from behind and I looked from behind and I was all into it. And then suddenly, I was just like, ‘I’m getting slammed by a chair right now,’ and I started hysterically laughing,” she says, adding that the chair’s enthusiasm was provided by a prop guy. “They’re like, ‘Do it harder!’ And I’m like, ‘It’s hard wood. It hurts.’ I wish there was a camera on the prop guy who was probably like jamming it behind me. It just was so wrong.”

Finding the comfort level to play Kyle, a young webcam model in “Disconnect, was no small feat for Max Thieriot. 10 Films to see this week ‘42’ There hasn’t been a film about Jackie Robinson since 1950s — “The Jackie Robinson Story, starring Jackie Robinson as himself. Chadwick Boseman embodies the first African-American baseballer in the Majors, with Harrison Ford there, too (probably grumping up a storm).

DATING

I cheated at a party. What do I do now? Dating. Would you be OK if your partner switched sides and cheated while drunk? Take a step back and think about it.

I’ve been with my boyfriend for eight months and we have a good relationship. The other night, though, I was at a party without him and got drunk and flirted with another woman. One thing led to the next and we had sex. I haven’t told my boyfriend about it and I haven’t talked to the woman again. I know guys think it’s hot to see two women together, but I just don’t know if I should tell him what happened. I feel really guilty
and confused. What should I do? For a moment, imagine your boyfriend is out at a party. He’s getting drunk, starts flirting with another guy, and then one thing leads to the next and he has sex with the guy. Ask yourself: Are you OK with that? Do you consider that cheating? My guess is you’re not OK with it and it violates a trust you’ve established over the past eight months. After that many months of dating,
there’s most likely an understanding — spoken or not — of exclusivity. If you’ve participated in such an activity and aren’t comfortable disclosing it to your man, then it’s cheating. Think about the impact telling will have on him. Although honesty is usually the best policy, if this truly is a one-time experience, then why upset him? Consider dropping the matter and moving on. Do know, though, if he ever asks if you’ve cheated,

you’ll have to disclose this indiscretion — because keeping a secret will force you to barricade a part of yourself and interfere with intimacy. Finally, if this only occurred because of the alcohol, then lay off the booze. But consider the possibility that subconsciously you’ve got same-sex tendencies that came out because your inhibitions were reduced while under the influence. If you are indeed confused about your sexuality, do yourself and him a favor and end the relationship. Don’t maintain one relationship for stability while exploring other options. — Metro does not endorse the opinions of the author, or any opinions expressed on its pages. Horoscope
Aries | March 21 - April 20. If you’re thinking of teaming up with others in something that requires an investment, test the waters.
Cancer | June 21 - July 22. Accept your friends for who and what they are, faults and all. If you display intolerance, others will notice your imperfections.

Leo | July 23 - Aug. 22. The best way to get a message across to your family is to lead by example.
Gemini | May 22 - June 20. Guard against a tendency to treat your duties indifferently.
Virgo | Aug. 23 - Sept. 22. Unless associates believe that you know what you’re talking about, they aren’t likely to put much credence in your words.
Libra | Sept. 23 - Oct. 22. Even though you are presently in a good financial cycle, things could still get rocky.
Capricorn | Dec. 22 - Jan 20. Be extremely selective regarding with whom you associate. Don’t get mixed up with the wrong people.
Scorpio | Oct. 23 Nov. 21. Usually, you are a strong and decisive person who isn’t prone to wavering. However, today you might not be able to make up your mind.
Aquarius | Jan. 21 - Feb 18. Be particularly mindful of your behavior when in public, because your image is currently fragile.
Sagittarius | Nov. 22 - Dec. 21. Under most conditions, you’re not averse to helping others. Today, though, you might miss a chance to help.

How to play Fill in the grid, so that every row, every column and every 3x3 box contains the digits 1-9. There is no math involved. You solve the puzzle with reasoning and logic.
Kindness: Read all about it My name is Jessie Zhang. I am writing this letter as a thankyou to one of your employees, Janice, who works at the subway exit of F train at 42nd Street-Bryant Park for the newspaper. She is the kindest person I have ever met. Being three months pregnant, my daily commute to work becomes a huge problem for me as I get lightheaded easily by standing on the train and walking up the stairs. On April 3, as I was about to pass out on the stairs at the exit, Janice saw me and provided the warmest help. She helped me sit down and stood next to me to protect me from people’s steps while she was handing out the papers. She also asked many times to the people passing by if there were any doctors or nurses to help me. After I got
better from the rest, she accompanied me to walk to my office building on block down and made sure I was OK before she left. Right before she accompanied me to the office, she made sure the newspapers were out there at an easy-toreach spot for people to take and she would also tell her boss why she had to step away from her spot, too. Even though she had to step away from her work for a moment, her kindness definitely represented and elaborated Metro’s brand image as being truly caring and willing to help out New Yorkers. She is absolutely and asset to you. For being such an excellent employee, I highly recommend a reward be given to her as an encouragement and example to all your employees. JESSIE ZHANG, VIA E-MAIL

The new menus that put a spring in our step Dining. With warm weather comes new offerings from your favorite restaurants. Here are our picks.
The patience of New Yorkers has paid off as spring has finally arrived in the city. The warm sunshine and clear skies gets us in the mood for two things: food and drink. The options are abundant in a city that relishes seasonal ingredients and al fresco dining. As your spring social calender begins to populate, keep these gems in mind for the best tastes of the season.
The Smith 55 Third Ave., 212-420-9800 The Smith has reinvented itself with a new seasonal menu. Nothing says spring like throwing back oysters on the half shell, and you can find Montauk Pearl and Beau Soleil on the menu. Still hungry? Don’t miss the salmon with leeks, asparagus, oyster mushrooms and soft herbs. For something more carnivorous, try the braised lamb shank with steelcut oat risotto.
The Smith puts an Italian twist on a favorite fish: trout Milanese with new crop potatoes. / THE SMITH
Galli 45 Mercer St., 212-966-9288 Red sauce joint Galli has just launched a Buon Giorno menu, available every day until 4 p.m. On it find the eatery’s gooey baby rice balls (which are more toddler-size, if you ask us), old-world style pastas and parms, plus breakfast additions like a cappuccino and croissant duo.
Da Silvano Cantinetta 260 Sixth Ave., 212-982-2343 At Da Silvano’s younger sister — an extension of the classic New York spot — variety is the spice of life. Don’t be intimidated by the endless menu options at Da Silvano Cantinetta, as the chefs manage to execute everything perfectly. The specials are constantly changing, but try to catch the green and white asparagus salad and a true sign of the season, soft shell crabs. You’ll feel transported to Florence, especially if you snag a sidewalk table. For dessert, nothing has tickled our fancy more this season than their fennel sorbet.
Slide 174 Bleecker St., 212-777-9077 This newer addition to

the West Village is making its mark this spring with new menu offerings like Montauk lobster sliders (yes, please) and chilidusted scallops. But it’s not all about the fish: If you happen to be of the meat and dessert variety, you’ll be mesmerized by a concoction known as the boozy bacon ice cream shake, complete with Bourbon, bacon drippings, maple, cinnamon sugar and bacon powder.
Brooklyn Winery 213 N. Eighth St., 347-763-1506 Did you know there is a winery in Brooklyn? And wine isn’t the only thing it has to offer? With a wine list that pairs perfectly with the menu, this just might turn into your spring headquarters. The experts at Brooklyn Winery recommend the rosé of zinfandel along with the seared diver scallops with smoked eggplant capona-
ta. If you do the standard flight, which includes six wines, you might want to pad your tummy with something hardier. Try the sweet potato and chickpea falafel or the lamb sausage with Rutabaga sauerkraut.
The Dalloway 525 Broome St., 212-966-9620 For spring, this lesbianleaning hot spot somehow managed to take a hearty
dish and make it light in the form of spring vegetable carbonara with applewood smoked bacon and pecorino. If you’re a fan of sweet and savory, don’t miss the grilled swordfish with wheat berries, yellow carrot and blueberry. And for that late-night craving, the Dalloway offers “midnight brunch” beginning Saturday nights at 11 p.m.

Metro sips on spring’s new beer batches What do you get when you put seven journalists (including non-beer connoisseurs) together for a beer tasting? This.
Sam Adams
Little White Rye Marketing description: “Innocent yet beguiling, this hazy golden brew at first appears to be a classic witbier. But behind Samuel Adams Little White Rye’s sweet malt exterior is an intriguing blend of white sage and rye for a spicy yet refreshing kick.” Metro staffers: The brew “tastes like a solid ‘beer’ beer. So, beer-flavored beer. Remarkable.” Some staffers marked this one as their “favorite” but a few found it “very typical.” One summed it up as: “Is this Bud?”

THE LITTLE WHITE RYE IS AVAILABLE IN THE SAMUEL ADAMS BEERS OF SUMMER VARIETY PACK, $15-$18.
Dogfish Brewing Co.
Dogfish Sixty-One, $8.99 Marketing description: “The name Sixty-One is a reminder that this beer is Dogfish Head’s bestselling 60 Minute IPA plus one new ingredient: syrah grape must from California.” Metro staffers: Not that we’ve ever smelled it before in real life, but staffers quickly noted that Sixty-One “smells like marijuana,” with one employee echoing, “someone must have been brewing something else.” This is a “good beer for a dive bar” and gets high marks for being “drinkable” and “interesting” but “not too fancy.” The offpink color was also popular: “It looks like a kid juice, tastes like an adult juice.”

Metro staers: Metro found this brew too sweet, “like the Manischevitz of beer.â€? The scent of this beer was alternately described as “gross,â€? “like molassesâ€? and “ cough medicine.â€? Who gets the Silver coins Free: Listed below are the NYC area zip codes that get the Silver Walking Liberty free. If you live in one of these areas immediately call the Toll Free Hotline: 1-888-526-4429 NEW YORK - The phone lines are ringing off the hook. That’s because for the next 2 days Vault Bags containing valuable U.S. Gov’t issued coins are actually being handed over to NYC area residents who find their zip code listed in today’s publication. “It’s hard to tell how much these Vault Bags could be worth. That’s because after they were loaded with over 100 U.S. Gov’t issued coins including: Silver, scarce, highly collectible and circulating coins the dates were unsearched and the bags are sealed for good. But, we do know that some of the coins date clear back to the 1800s. Any one of these Vault Bags could be worth a small fortune,” said Timothy J. Shissler, Chief Numismatist for the private World Reserve. But even better than that, said Shissler, “NYC area residents who find their zip code listed in today’s publication are guaranteed to get a valuable Walking Liberty Silver coin free with each Vault Bag and just that one 90% pure Silver coin alone could be worth $22 to $325 in collector value, so nearly everyone is claiming at least 3 Vault Bags for just ninety-nine dollars each before they’re all gone.” The only thing residents need to do is find their zip code on the Distribution List printed in today’s publication. If their zip code is on the list, they need to immediately call the National Distribution Hotline before the 2-day order deadline ends. Everyone who does is being given the 90% pure Silver Walking Liberty coin for free just by covering the 3 Vault Bags each loaded with over 100 U.S. Gov’t issued coins for only $ 99 each or $30 more for just a single Vault Bag as long as they call before the deadline ends. Since this advertising announcement can’t stop dealers and collec-
tors from hoarding all the valuable coins they can get their hands on, the World Reserve had to set a strict limit of ten Vault Bags per resident. “Coin values always fluctuate and there are never any guarantees, but those who get in on this now will be the really smart ones. Just think what some of these coins could be worth someday,” said Shissler. “With all this money up for grabs we’re bracing for all the calls and doing our best to make sure NYC area residents get through. But, it’s important that all residents who find their zip code on the Distribution List call the National Distribution Hotlines before the deadline ends. Because when the Vault Bags full of U.S. Gov’t issued coins are gone, they’re gone,” Shissler said. Each Vault Bag is loaded with a small fortune containing in part, highly sought after valuable collector coins dating clear back to the 1800s including a 90% pure Silver Walking Liberty Half Dollar, Eisenhower Dollars, the last ever minted Presidential Golden Dollars, Kennedy Half Dollars, Silver Mercury Dimes, rarely seen Liberty ‘V’ Nickels, nearly 100 year old Buffalo Nickels and circulating U.S. Gov’t issued nickels, dimes and quarter dollars. “We’re allowing residents whose zip code appears on the State Zip Code Distribution List to claim as many as ten Silver Walking Liberty coins free. But, since you can’t get these Vault Bags loaded with over 100 U.S. Gov’t issued coins at banks or credit unions the limits will be strictly enforced,” he said. NYC area residents lucky enough to find their zip code listed in today’s publication need to immediately call the National Distribution Hotlines before the 2-day deadline ends to get the Silver coins free. If lines are busy keep trying, all calls will be answered. N

NBA draft
Zeller enters draft Indiana sophomore Cody Zeller became the latest college player to declare for the NBA draft yesterday. Zeller was one of the top recruits in the country two years ago but stayed in school to develop his game and pursue a national title. The 7-footer averaged 16.5 points and 8.1 rebounds per game last season. He’s projected as a lottery pick.

An MRI was negative.

Masters 2013: The coronation begins Masters preview. Tiger Woods is the name on the mind of every golf fan as the Masters begins today.
Maybe you’ve heard — Tiger Woods is on a hot streak and ready to roll over everyone en route to his fifth green jacket and 15th overall major. Woods is the overwhelming favorite to win thanks to a two-tournament winning streak entering this weekend. He won at the Cadillac Championship on March 10 and the Arnold Palmer Invitational on March 25. He hasn’t played this well entering the first major of the season since 2008 when he also won three tournaments prior
to the Masters. It’s probably worth noting that is also the last year, preknee surgery and pre-infidelity scandal, he won a major (the U.S. Open). Woods cracked jokes and looked decidedly less dour in Tuesday’s pretournament press conference — more like a man not burdened by injury and paparazzi. “I think it’s just a balWhose rival? The man Tiger Woods just deposed as the No. 1 golfer in the world rankings seems like a natural rival for the resurgent Woods — to everyone but the man himself, Rory McIlroy. •
“I don’t see myself as a rival to Tiger or to anyone,” McIlroy said.
ance, a balance in life,” Woods told reporters. “I think that’s what you’re seeing.” He famously went public with his relationship with Olympic skier Lindsay Vonn last month, an unprecedented move for the usually secretive golfer. Maybe she is part of the reason for his “balance.” But it’s a different
word than “balance” that often defined Woods during his height: fear. Some of that was lost in 2009 when Y.E. Yang stared him down, head-to-head, in the final round of the PGA Championship and watched Woods crumble. The fear has returned, and straight from the top of the leaderboard. “You’re always worried about him making that big run the way he’s always done throughout his career,” four-time major champion Phil Mickelson told reporters. “He’s got 14 majors. I’ve got two,” defending PGA Player of the Year Rory McIlroy told reporters Tuesday. “If I saw myself as a rival to Tiger, I wouldn’t really be doing him much justice.”

Rory McIlroy
McIlroy, and fellow fan favorite Phil Mickelson (both 12/1), offer the best odds for someone not named after a large feline. Of the two, we go with McIlroy who looked very good at last week’s Texas Open.
Bubba Watson
Last year’s champion is down the list of favorites in 12th place (33/1), but there is a reason for it. Icons Tiger Woods (2001-02), Nick Faldo (1989-90) and Jack Nicklaus (1965-66) are the only ever repeat champions.

Tiger Woods (7/2) is the favorite, so let’s just get him out of the way. Woods’ putting really has him back in the mix for every tournament. But come on, pick someone else.

Johnson (22/1) is your prototypical, “If he can just put it all together” pick. Paulina Gretzky’s man should crush the par-5s, but can he play well enough around the green to make his driving worth it?
Matt Kuchar
As we move down the list, why not take a chance on a guy who had success last year? Kuchar (33/1) finished third in 2012 and is coming off a huge win at the Accenture Match Play Championships in February.
The cheeky Englishman has the lowest odds (40/1) on our list, but a big game to back up his talk. Poulter, a winner on the Euro tour in November, has finished in the Top 10 in two of the last three Masters.
