Hot dogs
Nathan’s re-opens in Coney Island When Nathan’s opened its doors quietly yesterday ahead of a bigger grand re-opening tomorrow, hot dogs were still the staple of the menu. But the establishment has added a raw bar and expanded its beverage options to include wine and a bigger beer selection. Customers who want more than the usual hot dog and crinklecut fries can get a dozen oysters for $17.50, according to the Daily News.

Public concern. The new pipeline will carry natural gas that is extracted from fracking. Concerns are growing about the planned Spectra pipeline on the west side of lower Manhattan, but what some may not know is that their concerns may be coming too late: The pipeline is already in place.
The Spectra pipeline runs along the Jersey Shore under the Hudson River to Gansevoort Street and to a Con Ed power station at 14th Street and Ninth Avenue, according to Sane Energy Project cofounder Denise Katzman. According to Katzman, the pressure of a pipeline becomes more intense the bigger the radius of the pipeline. The Spectra pipeline has a radius of 30 inches. That is the same size as the pipeline that exploded in San Bruno, Calif., in 2010.
Nothing in common
“The only thing that our pipeline and the San Bruno pipeline have in common is that they are natural gas pipelines.” Spectra spokesperson
Claire Donohue, Sane Energy Project co-founder, noted that the well-known San Bruno pipeline accident occurred in a suburban area in California and wreaked massive damage, killing eight people. A Spectra spokesperson
said that these concerns are completely unfounded, and that the pipeline was “built to meet or exceed all federal safety regulations.”

The National Guard, firefighters from more than a dozen fire departments and rescuers from other states worked all night under bright spotlights trying to find survivors in the town of 55,000 people. Plaza Towers Elementary School was one of five schools in the path of the tornado. “They literally were lifting walls up, and kids were coming out,” Oklahoma State Police Sergeant Jeremy Lewis said. “They pulled kids out from under cinder blocks without a scratch on them.” Thunderstorms slowed the rescue effort yesterday and made conditions tough for families left with nothing. IRS officials deny misleading Congress Top IRS officials told Congress yesterday they were unaware of the agency’s targeting of conservative groups for extra tax scrutiny until recently and did not deliberately mislead lawmakers last year when they did not reveal the practice. Senators questioned the truthfulness of former IRS Commissioner Douglas Shulman and outgoing acting IRS Chief Steven Miller. At a Senate Finance Committee hearing, several Democrats tried to turn the focus to the IRS’s difficulty in determining whether such groups qualified for tax-exempt status under a law that says they cannot be engaged “primarily” in politics — a loophole they said Congress should close. Court: Bin Laden death photos can stay secret A federal appeals court ruled yesterday that the U.S. government had properly classified top secret more than 50 images of al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden taken after his death, and that the government did not need to release them. Senate panel peels back Apple’s taxes iLoophole. Lawmakers cast a scathing eye upon the tech giant’s offshore tax practices. Apple Inc.’s chief executive officer defended the company’s tax record yesterday at a Senate hearing where lawmakers said the company kept billions of dollars in profits in Irish subsidiaries to avoid U.S. taxes. The hearing marked another foray by the Senate’s most powerful investigative committee into corporate offshore tax avoidance, which is increasingly a target of many governments. Sen. Carl Levin, who has led several probes into offshore tax issues as chairman of the Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations, said Apple shifted

Blame game
Ireland rejects blame for low tax rate Ireland said yesterday it was not to blame for Apple Inc.’s low global tax payments and had no special rate deal with the company after the U.S. Senate said it paid little or no tax on tens of billions of dollars in profits stashed in Irish subsidiaries. The Irish government, which has seen the luring of U.S. multinationals with low taxes as a key part of its economic policy since the 1960s, said its system was transparent and other countries were responsible if the tax rate paid by Apple was too low. “They are issues that arise from the taxation systems in other jurisdictions, and that is an issue that has to be addressed first of all in those jurisdictions,” deputy prime minister Eamon Gilmore said.

Gay youth. Boy Scouts to vote this week on whether to lift ban Leaders of Boy Scout groups across the country will vote this week on a controversial proposal that would remove the organization’s ban on gay scouts but not gay adult leaders. Hundreds of champions and opponents of the proposed change are expected to rally in Grapevine, a suburb of Dallas, during the National Annual Meeting, which begins on Wednesday. About 1,400 delegates are expected to vote on Thursday on whether to lift the ban on gay youth.
Depardieu: Don’t blame Chechnya for Tsarnaevs
The Supreme Court ruled 5-4 in 2000 that the Boy Scouts, as a private organization, has the right to exclude gay people. After a two-year study of the ban, the Boy Scouts reaffirmed its commitment to the ban a year ago. The proposal is based on the results of an unprecedented survey of scouts, parents, leaders and the general public on the issue of gay membership, according to Deron Smith, spokesman of the Irving, Texas-based organization. French actor Gerard Depardieu said yesterday the Tsarnaev brothers, who are ethnic Chechen, accused of the Boston marathon bombing had been raised American and that residents of the volatile Russian region of Chechnya were not to blame. The actor, who accepted Russian citizenship after quitting France to avoid a planned 75 percent tax on millionaires, was echoing comments from Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov, with whom he has been
filmed socializing. “I was in the United States when the terrorist act was carried out in Boston. I agree with Ramzan Kadyrov, who said that the Tsarnaev brothers have a Chechen last name but their upbringing is American,” Depardieu said at a news conference. “[Chechens] don’t carry any responsibility,” said Depardieu. Kadyrov, who has been criticized for his strongarm rule, says tough policies are required in Chechnya to control Islamist violence in the North Caucasus where insurgents wage almost daily violence to create an Islamic state. He has denied that Chechnya had any links to the Tsarnaev brothers, accused of blasts that killed three people and injured 264 others at the finish line of the Boston Marathon. REUTERS

edy of the Iraq War to homophobia — he appeals to disparate campaign groups because his story ticks a lot of boxes.” That appeal is deep as well as broad. “He is arguably the most significant ‘war resister’ in history,” says support group member Ben Griffin, who has campaigned since 2010. “Manning has shown
a tremendous sense of integrity and justice for someone so young, as well as compassion,” adds U.S. Campaign Organizer Emma Cape, who argues Manning honors Martin Luther King Jr.’s principle that “one who breaks a law that conscience tells him is unjust … is in reality expressing the highest respect for law.” Such fervent following has given Manning a quasi-cult appeal. “Part of it is that he can’t help but be intensely enigmatic. We can’t interview him, so everything we can say about his motives is speculative,” says Tom Payne, author of “Fame: What the Classics Tell Us about Our Cult of Celebrity.” However, a smaller anti-Manning campaign has also emerged, with nationalist U.S. groups calling for him to be executed.

Jones’ baby daddy is still a secret

January Jones is not going to reveal the identity of her infant son’s father, so stop asking. At least that’s a lesson the New York Times learned recently while interviewing the “Mad Men” star. “That’s my son’s business. It’s not the public’s business,” she responded. Jones apparently got the notion to keep the press at arm’s length from a famous pal. “Jack Nicholson once told me, ‘You should never give your personal life away, otherwise people will pick you apart. They’ll never believe in your character,’” Jones explained, adding: “Women should have lots of secrets. It’s our right to have secrets. Otherwise, what would we write in our memoirs?” I can’t wait in six years when we’ve totally forgotten about her and her memoir comes out and we’re all like: Yawn.

Does Brad Pitt suffer from face blindness? Plenty of Hollywood stars probably have trouble remembering everyone they meet (because, you know, they meet a lot of people). Brad Pitt, however, thinks his poor memory might be an actual medical condition. He finds it nearly impossible to remember the faces of anyone he meets, he told Esquire. “I took one year where I just said, ‘This year, I’m just going to cop to it and say to people, “OK, where did we meet?”’ But it just got worse. People were more offended. Every
2 now and then, someone will give me context, and I’ll say, ‘Thank you for helping me.’ But I piss more people off,” the star says. This causes social anxiety for the star, so he doesn’t go out much anymore. Pitt says he’s planning to get tested to find out if his forgetfulness is actually a mental condition called prosopagnosia, or face blindness. If I were Brad Pitt’s doctor, I’d probably look into other, more likely causes of Pitt’s forgetfulness (psst: I’m referring to the sticky icky here).

Julie Delpy has developed quite the professional relationship with co-star Ethan Hawke and director Richard Linklater. Every nine years, they re-team for another look into the lives of Celine and Jesse, the lovers we met 18 years ago on a train to Vienna in “Before Sunrise and saw again in Paris in 2004’s “Before Sunset. The latest, “Before Midnight, finds them together — and debating where their relationship goes from here. Delpy helped clue us in to some of the secrets of their quiet franchise. There’s no one side for the audience to route for: “Here, there’s no bad guy, but they still have to make compromises — and what compromise might jeopardize their relationship, their love? ponders Delpy. “It’s all about finding the right road. When you have a long-term relationship, you have to make choices. Actually, their relationship started with a choice that Jesse made, which was to follow his heart, but that comes with consequences. The film starts with the consequence of that choice. We find them in a

Now, how about the next movie?
As for where Celine and Jesse will be in nine years, “I don’t know yet,â€? Delpy says. •

It’s not a chick ick: “It’s very important that it’s balanced female and male, that it’s not a macho movie or a feminist movie with a meaning or anything,â€? explains Delpy, who also co-wrote the script with Linklater and Hawke. “And that’s our goal, actually, to make sure when we write this that it’s neither
The emotional scenes are just more fun: “It’s pleasurable for an actor, believe it or not, to cry, to suffer. It’s a pleasant thing, she admits. “When you see someone on camera crying or being hurt, they’re actually enjoying it. [Laughs] But actually what’s most painful is the simple things. That’s the hardest thing to find as an actor. Obviously it is draining as an actor to do scenes where you’re emotional, but there’s a certain pleasure to it. I can’t explain it. Or maybe I’m weird — I don’t know. She knows everything they’ve been doing between movies: “We have to think about their backstory every time we

I wouldn’t say Celine lives with me 24/7, otherwise I’d be crazy — like there’s a bunch of people in my head. [Laughs] Truly we let go of them, but then when we get back to working on those films, it’s a tremendous amount of homework of figuring out what happened during those nine years. And you can’t even write a line of screenplay on those films without having done those first. But we have the luxury of time, that we have nine years between films.

Cannes’ buzz-worthy films Festivals. At the halfway point, the Cannes Film Festival already has some exciting wares.
Asghar Farhadi scored an Oscar and a bona fide art house hit with “A Separation” in 2011. His second film — also about a divorce, this one with an international cast that includes Berenice Bejo of “The Artist” — is being heralded as just as strong, which should make Farhadi the biggest-name Iranian filmmaker since Abbas Kiarostami.
The Cannes Film Festival ends this coming Sunday. So how is it looking at the halfway mark? That is, apart from the non-film stuff: the guy who fired a starter pistol and not one, but two, jewelry robberies. But let’s talk movies.
‘The Bling Ring’ is very Sofia Coppola-y No one makes movies like Sofia Coppola — which to some is a good thing, since it means there are less like them in the world. Her latest again wallows among the pampered, wealthy and shallow, only this time the leads (including Emma Watson) are those who steal from them. Reviews have been the usual for this polarizing filmmaker, with some finding the film as dumb as its heroes — shades of “Spring Breakers” and “Pain & Gain” — and others finding it an incisive and striking embodiment of materialism in the age of Twitter. Then again, Paris
Oscar Isaac plays an unpleasant, 1960s-era folk singer in the Coen Brothers’ “Inside Llewyn Davis.” / ALISON ROSA, CBS FILMS
Hilton, who plays herself, loved it.
Everyone loves ‘Inside Coming soon
Still to debut We’re still waiting on: Nicolas Winding Refn’s “Only God Forgives,” with The Gosling; Jim Jarmusch’s vampire film “Only Lovers Left Alive”; and James Gray’s “The Immigrant,” with Joaquin Phoenix and Marion Cotillard.
Llewyn Davis’ The Coen Brothers’ latest — about an unpleasant 1960s folk singer (Oscar Isaac) — is being received as one of their scruffy triumphs. Comparisons to “The Big Lebowski” abound, and the up-andcomer Isaac — in a cast with Carey Mulligan, Justin Timberlake and John Goodman — is supposed to, after this, become a star. And that’s great, but it won’t be released in America for another six months.
Alejandro Jodorowsky is actually back The Chilean-born wild card was once one of the original midnight movie kings, thanks to his 1970 acid western “El Topo.” His career since has been bumpy. But this year, the 84-year-old rules Cannes. A documentary about his aborted adaptation of the book “Dune” — which was to feature Salvador Dali and a score by Pink Floyd — is there. Ditto an actual new Jodorowsky film, his first since 1991’s (awful) “The Rainbow Thief.” “The Dance of Reality” is being called overlong, but also warm and, best of all, teeming with wild images.
But everyone LOVES ‘The Past’

How to not get skin cancer What to look for
Summer health. Check your body — and your SPF — to stay safe.
“Look for the ugly duckling,” she says. “If you have a lot of moles or discoloration, look for the one that grows faster. Commonly, it’s brown — but if it’s red, then it’s forming its own blood vessels. If it’s bluish-brown, then it’s gone deeper. Check your skin from head to toe. If in doubt, seek medical help.”
Even though skin cancer can be as deadly as breast or any other cancer, people still take chances with sun and tanning bed exposure. Every year, there are more new cases of skin cancer than breast, prostate, lung and colon cancer combined, according to The Skin Cancer Foundation. We had Dr. Ellen Marmur, a board-certified dermatologist and member of the American Academy of Dermatology, give us the lowdown on staying healthy.
Seriously, stop tanning “Tanning beds are known to increase the risk of skin cancers by 75 percent,” Dr. Marmur says. “No one should use them.”
Redheads — pay attention
The sunscreen rules have changed “The FDA has made a radical change in sunscreen labeling,” Dr. Marmur tells us. “Now, any sunscreen with a SPF of less than 15 has to carry a warning, just like packets of cigarettes.” [Ed. note: That applies to sunscreens not labeled “broad spectrum” as well.] She adds: “UV light is a known carcinogen. An SPF of 30 to 50 is now recommended. Sunscreen is essential, but even when using a

sunscreen continue to be smart. Stay out of the sun [around 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.].”
The different types of cancer “Melanoma is the least common, but it’s the

most serious,” Dr. Marmur says. “If you catch it early enough, you’re fine. Once melanomas grow deeper, the mortality rate skyrockets. Then, there’s basal cell cancer — it looks like a pimple. Squamous cell carcinoma is the most common. It’s crusty and darkish red.”
The old adage that redheads are more susceptible to sun damage is no old wives’ tale, it seems. A report from BioEssays says that people with pale skin and red hair are at greater risk of cancer because they synthesize a pigment called pheomelanin, which gives red hair its color and is carcinogenic, independent of UV light. If you fit that description, be extra careful about slathering on SPF, tossing on a hat and seeking out shade.
Landon Donovan
Why it matters to me “I’ve spent most of my life playing soccer outdoors, but I wasn’t always diligent in applying sunscreen. That all changed when my father discovered a bump on his eyelid that turned out to be skin cancer. My father was lucky to have caught it early. He’s now cancer-free. Many men overlook the importance of sun protection. In 2012, The Skin Cancer Foundation found that nearly half of men don’t wear sunscreen. So, I’ve partnered with The Skin Cancer Foundation and the makers of Banana Boat and Hawaiian Tropic sunscreens to educate men on the risk and how they can protect themselves. Visit www.sunblunders.com to learn more.”

HERE ARE SOME HOME REMEDIES YOU SHOULD DEFINITELY AVOID
The Doctor Will See You Now
DR. MARK MELROSE URGENTCAREMANHATTAN. COM
“Doc, pouring alcohol on a cut will prevent an infection, right? Wrong! Here are a few of the most common ill-advised home remedies, why they don’t work and what you should do to help yourself before seeing a doctor.
Mark Melrose, DO, is a boardcertiďŹ ed emergency physician at Urgent Care Manhattan. E-mail him your questions at askdrmark@metro.us.
Burns and butter: Butter has no medicinal properties whatsoever, and may even contaminate a burn, causing it to become infected. Any burns should initially be treated with cold water or an ice pack. Any firstdegree burn (redness) can be treated with ibuprofen or aspirin for pain and inflammation, while second degree burns (blisters) should probably be evaluated by a health care professional.

Heat or ice? Acute musculoskeletal injuries (sprains, bruises) are best treated with intermittent ice and elevation, 20 minutes on and off, in order to reduce swelling and limit disability during the first 24 hours. Heat will increase circulation and may make swelling worse. After 48 hours, heat may improve mobility and accelerate reduction of bruising and swelling. Nosebleeds and ice, tilting your head back or putting tissues in your nose: Nosebleeds are almost universally

caused by breakage of tiny capillaries in the mucous membrane lining of the nasal septum, usually from a picking finger or blunt trauma. Dry mucous membranes from a cold, dehydration or dry air may contribute. Like all bleeding, the immediate treatment is direct pressure to the area — in this case, by blowing out any blood clots, and then pinching the nostrils over the fleshy part of the nose for 8-10 minutes. Ice will only make your nose cold. Tilting your head back will cause you to swallow any blood and induce nausea and vomiting. And sticking tissues or cotton in the nostrils may be a temporary fix, but removing the packing will likely cause re-bleeding.
Use ice, not heat, within the ďŹ rst 24 hours of a sprain or bruise. GETTY IMAGES, FUSE
Cuts and rubbing alcohol or hydrogen peroxide: Hydrogen peroxide, rubbing alcohol and iodine-based antiseptics (betadine) all kill bacteria, but these preparations also kill normal cells and tissue, making the injury worse if applied directly to a wound. Any break in the skin is best treated by
flushing it with running water, applying pressure until the bleeding stops and covering the wound with a sterile bandage and antibiotic cream or ointment. If you can see fat or other underlying tissue, then the full thickness of your skin has been cut and you probably need stitches. See a doctor ASAP.

Today in Medicine. The latest health news that caught our attention. Topic of Study: Dairy products and tooth decay Location of study: U.S. Study subjects: 68 subjects ranging in age from 12 to 15 Results: A new study published in General Dentistry states that consuming cheese may help protect teeth against cavities. Study subjects were split into groups with each eating either cheese, milk or sugar-free yogurt. Those who ate cheese experienced an oral pH level increase, while the other two groups stayed the same. The higher the pH level, the lower the chance of developing cavities, said researchers. ucts have been widely known as good for teeth because of the calcium content, and this shows another way dairy, specifically cheese, aids them. So what can decrease the pH level in your mouth? Diet soda, the experts say. Topic of Study: Generic statins and exercise benefits in obese subjects Location of study: U.S. Study subjects: 37 previously sedentary, obese individuals ages 25-59,18 of whom took 40 mg of simvastatin daily Results: A study published in the Journal of the American College of Cardiology finds that simvastatin, a generic type of statin previously sold under the brand name Zocor, hindered the positive effects of exercise in overweight and obese adults. Statins are prescribed to lower cholesterol and prevent heart disease and are one of the most widely used drugs worldwide. SigniďŹ cance: Study author John Thyfault advises that cardiologists think more carefully about prescribing statins given this new information. Topic of Study: Green teas and lead contamination Location of study: U.S. Study subjects: Lab study Results: Recent tests by ConsumerLab.com, which reports on the quality of health and nutrition products, found that some brands of green tea contained significant amounts of lead in their leaves. The liquid in the actual brewed teas did not contain measurable amounts of lead (i.e., no more than 1.25 mcg per serving), but the brewed leaves had between 2 to 5 mcg of lead. Many of the teas reviewed originated

in China, and lead was not found in decaffeinated green teas or in a Japanese green tea. SigniďŹ cance: Researchers concluded that though the lead contamination was worrying, the fact that most of this lead stays within the leaves and doesn’t get into the tea meant poisoning was unlikely for green tea drinkers. The researchers also recommended Lipton Green Tea — it yielded the most anti-oxidant EGCG at the lowest cost. Topic of Study: Premature death among people with mental illness Location of study: Australia Study subjects: Retrospective analysis of population-based registers Results: A new report
states that since 1985 the gap between life expectancy in patients with a mental illness and the general population has widened. The study, published today on www. bmj.com, found a higher death rate in people with mental illness, mostly not linked to suicide. Eighty percent of deaths were the result of cardiovascular and respiratory diseases, and cancer. SigniďŹ cance: The study shows a correlation between mental disorders and physical illness. Researchers concluded that better general health care for mentally ill people would close the widening gap.

Try: Rivieras France slip-on shoes $85, www.asos.com
What it says: You’re a laid-back, no-fuss kind of guy who probably doesn’t work a traditional 9-to-5. Thanks to Vans, this shoe is as much of a wardrobe staple to 20and 30-somethings as pleated chinos are to their dads. This spring they come in new styles, like the retro 1950s model up top.

Ways to improve the Facebook app Cellular. Here are some tweaks that can make the most-used mobile app even better.
Have a smartphone? Chances are you use the Facebook app. MASHABLE
At the beginning of this year, Facebook overtook Google Maps as the most-used mobile app in the U.S. The social network giant also recently introduced a controversial new mobile interface, Facebook Home. Earlier this week, Home hit 1 million downloads. Love it or hate it (or both), Facebook is a cornerstone of the mobile experience. But being in the spotlight means taking your share of criticism. And if the Facebook app represents our smartphone-centric lives, well, it has a few issues.
None of them are dealbreakers, but we love to tinker.
1
Embrace line wrap Facebook frequently truncates the longer titles of shared content in its mobile News Feed. Instead of making reasonable space for posts that need a little more explanation, Facebook disregards the practically ancient technology of line wrapping in favor of this lazy shortcut. Abbreviating your friends’ posts not only makes them instantly less appealing — it makes Facebook’s mobile experience noticeably inferior to Facebook on the desktop.
2
Chat head support outside the iOS app When Mark Zuckerberg revealed Facebook Home for Android, he also showed how chat heads would work
SUMMER IS COMING! iÌÊÀi>`ÞÊÜ Ì Êv>ÃÌ]Ê i` >ÌiÊÃ }ÊÀiÃÕ ÌÃt ZERONA... Full body inch loss laser.
— namely, across all apps. Playing a game or scrolling through Instagram? Chat heads can pop in and make communication more fluid. On iOS, however, the little chat bubbles are strictly confined to the Facebook app, and mostly serve to crowd the screen and obscure posts. Alleviating this problem and mimicking Android seems against Apple’s modus operandi, but it’s something we’d like to see.
3
Load links faster in Safari If you’re running the Facebook app on iOS, you’re used to staring at a blank white screen
bordered by indifferent blue as Facebook struggles to connect with Safari. It is a cruel screen, and we’d prefer never to see it again.
4
Smoother gestures on pictures Facebook’s photo-viewing has grown more beautiful and intuitive over time. But we still accidentally close photos on a regular basis, and the “doubletap to like” feature from Instagram would be a welcome addition now that the two networks are so intertwined.
5. Faster, faster, faster
The perennial truth of the Facebook app: It could stand to be faster. We want to see what friends are up to, but we get tired of sitting at the top the news feed watching a wheel spin. Don’t tempt us with the promise of new posts if you can’t deliver, Facebook. Increased speed across the entire app would be appreciated.

How to play Fill in the grid, so that every row, every column and every 3x3 box contains the digits 1-9. There is no math involved. You solve the puzzle with reasoning and logic.
There’s no reason to traumatize everyone Re: “Article shines light into a dark place” (Metro, May 20) I agree 100 percent with your article “There’s blood on your labels.” However, I completely disagree with letter writers Ananda Whelan and BJ Tillman, who say it was well-done for the shock value and perfectly fine to post anything to the front page of the paper. Ananda Whelan made the comment that it is OK for the children here to see it because the children there do because they live there. The whole point of the article was to point out about conditions in those
countries. Subjecting young children here to that is the wrong way to get the point across. JOHN SCHULTZ, VIA EMAIL
Diaper article a real stinker Re: “No diaper? No problem, with EC” (Metro, May 21) Your paper is no place to talk about potty training for babies. I found your article on it very repulsive! I’m sure that people who have infants would agree. It stinks! RICHARD CLIFFORD, VIA EMAIL

The Nets gave Phil Jackson an offer he could refuse. Jackson told Dan Patrick on his radio show yesterday that he was impressed by what the Nets offered him to take over as coach — just not enough to actually accept. “The Brooklyn situation is a good situation,” Jackson told Patrick. The reason Jackson didn’t accept the position was because it “was coaching basically.” Jackson would prefer to have a say in personnel issues if he takes over with a new team. METRO

Bruins nab 3-0 lead on late Game 3 goal NHL playoffs. The Rangers now face an almost insurmountable deficit in the series. The Rangers’ best effort in the Eastern Conference semifinals simply wasn’t good enough. As a result, a season which began with expectations of playing meaningful games in June is one

Lundqvist could not find it, and Paille pounced on the loose rebound. As the Bruins celebrated, Lundqvist stared up at the pinwheel ceiling, frustration etched on his face. loss away from ending. The Rangers trail the Bruins in the best-of-seven series 3-0 after dropping a 2-1 decision in Game 3 last night at the Garden. Neither wanted to discuss personnel decisions, but they were eager to heap praise on a team not many pegged to go deep in the postseason. Grunwald refused to get into the specifics of what he plans on doing with the roster this summer, but he did allow

olds, but sign-and-trades are available, although you just can’t acquire a player that way if you’re over the threshold,” said Grunwald. “We’ll see how it all plays out. Free agency is always a little unpredictable.” Woodson is looking forward to stacking on another training camp to further emphasize his schemes. “To win our division, [and] to secure the second seed, people didn’t think we could do [any] of those things.” TONY WILLIAMS

Yanks, Man City launch MLS team Soccer. The two international powerhouse franchises will start MLS’s 20th team. The Yankees are branching off into the beautiful game. The baseball franchise announced yesterday morning they will be forming a new MLS team, named the New York City Football Club, which will join the league in 2015.
The Yankees are forming the team in conjunction with Manchester City, one of the most powerful clubs in the world. Manchester City will be the majority owner of the new club. Manchester City was purchased by the Abu Dhabi United Group in 2008, which has poured massive amounts of money into the club. “We proudly welcome two of the most prestigious professional global sports organizations to Major League Soccer, MLS
Commissioner Don Garber said in a statement. “This is a transformational development that will elevate the league to new heights in this country. The team has not yet announced where in the city they will play, but promised a permanent stadium will be built. The city has discussed building a new stadium in Queens at Flushing Meadows Corona Park.
