The 50,000-square-footspace in the Ink Block development off Harrison Avenue in the South End, is scheduled to open as a market in January. Thanksgiving might be a travel nightmare for New Englanders, with some areas receiving more than a foot of snow. Holiday travelers should consider moving up Wednesday travel plans if they still can, as travel will be easier earlier in the day, said Alan Dunham, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service. Parts of Boston could see from 1 inch to 4 inches of snow. Logan Airport might see

1 or 2 inches of slush, while central and western Massachusetts could see up to 14 inches. The storm will start as rain Wednesday morning, then mix with snow by midWednesday morning, becoming all snow by the afternoon, the Weather Service said Tuesday. Snow could continue until midnight. “That rain-to-snow line will keep moving until it marches all the way to the coast,” said Dunham. DANNY MCDONALD

Boston. Holiday parties could get cheeky with Butlers in the Buff Jason Didcott began baring his military-trained body at age 31 to make extra money in college, after serving 15 years in Britain’s Royal Navy. The night gig turned into his day job. Now, Didcott is 45 and manages about 1,000 buff butlers across North America and the United Kingdom. After a trial run with two butlers in Boston, Didcott will formally launch his company in the Hub. Butlers in the Buff will hold Skype auditions Wednesday in the hope of hiring 20 local guys to butler the Boston party scene. “[They’re] not allowed to drink or stay on after a party finishes, not allowed to socialize. We provide a fun service but need to keep it professional and take it seriously,” said Didcott. The butlers are all in their 20s and 30s. “I do miss it,” Didcott said, of working parties himself in “costume.” “It’s a lot of fun. I’m 45 now, so I’m too old, I’m afraid.” Chris, 22, who’s worked

Between traveling and holiday parties Bostonians may forget to squeeze in a workout, which wouldn’t be such a bad thing if it weren’t for the fact that the holidays come with a large serving of butter, sugar and alcohol. A typical Thanksgiving feast could hold 2,500 to 4,500 calories, says fitness expert Brian Weller, who co-owns and instructs at Barry’s Bootcamp in Downtown Crossing. “Those little biscuits are like, 200 calories each,” said Weller. “I think everyone knows how to eat correctly. Doing it is a different story.” Barry’s Bootcamp sees a dip in member activity during the holiday season, a sign of food-coma sluggishness. “Everyone is stressed for time during the holidays, so they don’t work out as much, and no one really wants to deny themselves holiday treats,” said Weller. From providing routine general eye care, to the latest breakthroughs in LASIK laser vision correction - or the recent advancements in ICL technology and Laser Cataract Surgery - our surgeons and staff are committed to making this holiday season the most joyous of all. From our all-laser, bladeless LASIK procedure – to exciting developments like our Visian Implantable lens - our commitment to leading edge technology is surpassed only by our dedication to personalized patient care. Patients of New England Eye Center find confidence in knowing we offer experience you can trust and technology you can rely on. NASA-Approved LASIK - Our all-laser, bladeless LASIK at New England Eye Center has greatly improved results and helped take the fear out of having LASIK. The vast majority of our LASIK and PRK patients now achieve 20/20 vision at distance without glasses or contact lenses. Our method of LASIK is the same type approved for NASA astronauts and military pilots. Implantable Contact Lens - New England Eye Center is among a select group of practices in the country offering patients the benefits of the Visian Implantable Collamer Lens (ICL). Unlike LASIK, the Visian corrects vision by inserting a delicate intraocular lens-like device atop the eye’s natural lens, which is why the Visian is also referred to as the ‘Implantable Contact Lens.’ All of the refractive surgeons at New England Eye Center are qualified and experienced in performing this brief outpatient procedure to insert the Visian ICL. Because no corneal or other tissue is removed in the Visian ICL procedure, visual recovery is extremely rapid and the ICL can potentially be replaced if the eye’s focus changes over time. Refractive Lens Exchange - If you’re frustrated with reading glasses and bifocals, our refractive specialists perform a procedure known as Refractive Lens Exchange. By replacing your eye’s aging natural lens with a Intraocular Lens Implant customized specifically for your visual needs - and your lifestyle - allowing you to see better, look younger and never have to worry about developing cataracts! Laser Cataract Surgery - For seniors experiencing changes in their vision – or who have been diagnosed with a cataract – New England Eye Center is turning the dream of Laser Cataract Surgery into reality. We are currently among only the top 3% of practices in the country to offer patients the added precision and accuracy of Laser Cataract Surgery using OptiMedica® Catalys™ Precision Laser System. This year, take your vision to the NEXT LEVEL by giving yourself or a loved one the Gift of Sight. Now that’s a Gift that keeps on Giving. A blessed New Year from the surgeons and staff of New England Eye Center.

Thanksgiving is tomorrow, and as a resident of this great city there are a lot of things I’m thankful for. I’m thankful that Boston is a small town in a big city with world-class art, music, culture and dining, all while maintaining a small town charm. I’m thankful that Drizly will deliver beer to me this holiday season, and Lose It! will tell me how much weight I need to shed after drinking that beer. I’m thankful November Project gets my ass out of bed in the morning, Runkeeper keeps me on track and Pavement Coffee keeps me awake. I’m thankful Eastern Standard crafts a deliciously strong “Smash,” and Anna’s Taqueria has rolled over 5,000 burritos for me. I’m thankful Boston is a walkable city with an extensive subway system to take you wherever you need to go, with just a “minor delay.” I’m thankful Boston has a super collaborative startup community that has grown by leaps and bounds over the past five years, and going forward will continue to rival New York City

Gaming Commission reviewing Wynn Resorts Gambling. State regulators say they will conduct a review of Wynn Resorts. The Massachusetts Gaming Commission is reviewing Wynn Resorts following reports that federal agents are looking into possible money laundering violations at the firm. Rights. Jewish-nation bill frays Israel’s delicate social fabric Israel is poised to pass one of the most divisive laws in its 66-year history, a bill that would declare it the homeland of the Jewish people only -— and further alienate its Arab minority. Political infighting over the measure is already threatening to tear apart Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s governing coalition. The legislation, which is seen as

The working honeymoon is apparently over for Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, who were spotted by paparazzi having an “explosive” argument on a balcony of Sydney’s InterContinental Hotel just hours before the Australian premiere of “Unbroken,” her new film. “He was clearly exasperated with her. They kept talking over each other and putting their hands up in anger. They were upset but going nowhere. Angie looked like she was on the verge of tears,” a source — who, come on, is obviously the photographer — tells In Touch. And after their red carpet duties were done? They departed Australia — “Brad in one private jet, and Angie in another,” a second source says. Now, according to Jolie herself things at home are going pretty swell, though she does admit there’s room for improvement. “I think there are moments where I’ll say, ‘I’m going to be a better wife. I’m going to cook,’” Jolie tells Tom Brokaw during an interview. ‘And he says, ‘Oh, honey. Just know what you’re good at. Know what you’re not.’ But I do this: ‘No, no, no! I’m going to get this wife thing down.’” Maybe they were having one of those moments up on that balcony. Here’s to hoping.

How much would you pay for a musty old pile of fur worn by a grown man under sweltering lights? OK, so maybe that pile of fur is actually the costume worn by Bert Lahr as the Cowardly Lion in “The Wizard of Oz,” but still, it can’t smell that great. The costume in question fetched $3 million at Bonham’s Turner Classic Movies auction recently. Also a big-ticket item — and possible less smelly? The iconic piano from “Casablanca,” which went for $3.4 million. If Chris Hemsworth is the Sexiest Man Alive, does that mean the pooch his family just added to their ranks is the Cutest Puppy Alive? Not that I’m saying it isn’t, mind you. Just wondering if this is some sort of line of succession thing. The “Thor” star’s wife, actress Elsa Pataky, posted a photo of the pup on Instagram with the multilingual message, “Our new family member!” along with the hashtag #cute. Again, not arguing.

December is an awkward time at the movies. The Oscar race is winding down, with studios cranking out the last of their awardaspiring pictures. At the same time, people have time o and want to watch movies. The mainstream and the respectable will intermingle this winter. Here’s what’s coming from both sides. MATT PRIGGE

‘Exodus: Gods and Kings’ (Dec. 12) What: This is the Ten Commandments story — most famously told in the 1956 Easter staple “The Ten Commandmentsâ€? — this time with Christian Bale attempting to wipe away memories of Charlton Heston. Good luck! How populist?: Midwestern audiences ate up tiny religious ďŹ lms such as “God’s Not Deadâ€?; in fact, that ďŹ lm made only $40 million less in America than the super-pricey “Noah.â€? Audiences could stay relatively chill on this one, too.

‘Top Five’ (Dec. 12) What: Chris Rock’s third go at directing is an improv-heavy dramedy about a Chris Rocklike movie star (played by Chris Rock) hitting it o with a reporter (Rosario Dawson) the day of his new drama’s release. How populist?: Rock made this independently, and it has a rough, handmade quality that could serve as a fresh antidote to the season’s studio comedies.

PARAMOUNT PICTURES

‘The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies’ (Dec. 19) What: Only ďŹ ve armies? The ďŹ nal chapter in an epic take on a 300page novel intended for children ďŹ nally comes to a close, and surely it will test how much Benedict Cumberbatch-voiced dragon ďŹ ghting you can stand before going insane. How populist?: These things are bizarrely popular, especially considering how padded out and butt-woundingly long they are. But hey, what’s good for star Martin Freeman is good for the world (maybe).

‘Annie’ (Dec. 19)

PHWUR XV

KERRY BROWN

What: It has been 32 years since the John Huston movie of the sometimes blood-curdling stage musical, so here’s one with Quvenzhane Wallis, plus Jamie Foxx as a toupeed Daddy Warbucks — or, wait, he’s called Will Stacks? Where’s the fun in that? How populist?: Movies are rarely tailored to little girls, so maybe don’t screw this one up?

WARNER BROS.

‘Into the Woods’ (Dec. 25)

BARRY WETCHER

'BMM $MBTTFT 4UBSUJOH /PX

What: Meryl Streep, Johnny Depp and a bunch of other popular stars round out Stephen Sondheim’s beloved musical, in which fairy tales are mashed together. How populist?: The only catch is Sondheim is a musical lover’s musical writer, though his often diďŹƒcult and densely written tunes are here tacked onto a very clever pastiche.

Prestige

‘Selma’ (Dec. 25, limited; Jan. 9, wide)

‘Wild’ (Dec. 3) What: Reese Witherspoon portrays Cheryl Strayed, who hiked some 1,100 miles of the Pacific Crest Trail alone. Don’t worry: There are a lot of flashbacks, plus a script by Nick Hornby. How prestigious?: Witherspoon goes back to her indie roots, when she was one of the most exciting budding stars. Her Strayed is not only haunted — with a deeply traumatic history involving death, divorce and drugs — but also hilariously cranky.

FOX SEARCHLIGHT

‘Inherent Vice’ (Dec. 12, limited; Jan. 9, wide) What: Novelist Thomas Pynchon doesn’t lend himself well to movies, but if anyone could pull it off it’s Paul Thomas Anderson. Joaquin Phoenix plays a hippie P.I. in the ’60s on a seriously convoluted case. (No, really: It’s practically impossible to follow or summarize.) How prestigious?: This is so goofy and weird that it will almost certainly be polarizing, even among the critical cognoscenti. The audience for this is specific and small, though those who get it will be passionate.

What: Of course Hollywood has never made a Martin Luther King Jr. movie. On the other hand, the first one was made by a black female filmmaker, the talented Ava DuVernay (“Middle of Nowhere”), with David Oyelowo as MLK. How prestigious?: This might be the most prestigious film of the year — and, amazingly, it might also be genuinely great. The focus is only on the Alabama voting rights marches in 1965, rather than his whole life, and these narrow biopics tend to be the most rewarding.

‘The Gambler’ (Dec. 19) What: A remake of one of the ’70s grimmest films, this pottymouthed drama (written by “The Departed”’s William Monahan) stars Mark Wahlberg as a self-destructive rich kid who owes a ton of money to three different, scary people. How prestigious?: Despite a new ending, this keeps the miserable ’70s vibe, and Wahlberg — who can be dour in dramas — is as electric here as he is in comedies such as “I Heart Huckabees.”

to living in Arctic tundra mode. Egypt Sherrod, host of HGTV’s “Property Virgins” and a personal finance expert, shows us how to keep heating costs down when the weather outside gets frightful.

Do these now

Fix the plumbing Insulate your pipes. “This should be high on your list,” warns Sherrod. “You don’t want your pipes to freeze over.”

Give your water heater some TLC “Once a year, you should completely drain your water heater tank and flush out the sediments,” say Sherrod. “It will save you money on your bill because it will make it more efficient.” Another tip:

Proper insulation is the key to saving on energy costs, says Sherrod. / PIXLAND All winter long

Quick fix

Wrap an insulating blanket around your hot water heater to give it extra protection.

Zip up your house “50 percent of energy wasted in winter months comes from un-insulated walls, floors, ceiling and attics,” says Sherrod. “It’s like putting a jacket on your house. You wouldn’t go outside in five-degree weather without a coat, and you wouldn’t want your house to be sitting there without insulation either.”

Insta queen: Coco Rocha Interview. The model on her new art book, taking on motherhood — and maternity wear. If you’re a selfier with just the one default pose (i.e., the pout), then supermodel Coco Rocha might just be able to bring a new look to your expressions armory. Her new black-and-white 2,000-page art book “Study of Pose: 1,000 Poses by Coco Rocha” is a kind of how-to guide to looking photogenic. The 26-year-old, who has graced the covers of Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar and W as well as fronting campaigns for YSL and Uniqlo was captured by 100 cameras in a shoot led by New York photographer Steven Sebring back in 2012. Wearing only a simple tan leotard and white leggings, the Canadian model,

nicknamed the “Queen of Pose,” contorted herself into poses inspired by the likes of Grace Jones and Jessica Rabbit. The project builds upon the success of a viral video in which Rocha does 50 poses in 30 seconds. In fact, Rocha was one of the first models to make a name for herself on social media: She has 1.6 million Instagram followers and growing — along with her baby bump. Why did you decide to do this book? I’ve been told that I model in very different ways compared to other models. I met the photographer Steven Sebring, who has wanted to make an encyclopedia of poses since the ’90s, and my husband and I thought it was a great idea. We wanted it to be a reference book, not only for models, but also for the art industry. You’ve announced that

Head to toe

How to pose like a pro Don’t always try to take pretty pictures. For some reason, in our “selfie world” we are very insecure and always think that there’s this one pose that makes us look amazing. I think it’s important to just be able to relax when we take a picture, so don’t hesitate to change a look. If you truly want to become a model, know your lights — it’s a very important tool. And I always say you should pose all the way to the tips of your fingers and your toes.

you’re pregnant — do you have any tips for other mothers-to-be? Some maternity clothes can be very cool. I love oversized

sweaters — that kind of “boyfriend outfit” — so that’s going to work perfectly for me! I don’t have a big enough bump right now to worry about changing up my style. My advice: Keep your identity.

not to buy me anything pink and to make sure it’s all fashionable. At the moment I don’t care about my own style, I’m all about buying baby clothes.

Are you starting to get into shopping for babywear? [Banana Republic’s creative director] Marissa Webb just showed me the new Banana Republic Mini collection. The baby line’s not out yet, but I’m a fanatic about it. Since we are COCO ROCHA having a baby GETTY IMAGES girl, I told all my friends and family

Are you going to change your lifestyle? Once you find out that you’re pregnant, you really learn to have self-control. I steer clear from any cola and I drink fresh juices and water. Had it been just for me I think after a week I’d be like, “Alright, that was a fun cleanse.” But

when you are pregnant, you really think about that other person and you are doing it for them. Before you were pregnant, what did you do to stay fit and healthy? [Modeling] is a huge privilege you owe to your mum and dad. A chunk of it definitely comes down to genetics. I still make sure that I’m eating well and sleeping right. For lunch, I usually have a salad, a sandwich and an orange juice. I’m not one of those people who works out every day. When I’m in the mood I’ll go to the gym. Also, when I go to work, I give 110 percent; if I’m not sweating at the end of a photo shoot, I feel like I haven’t done my job — that’s how I remain healthy.

Rock ’n’ roll is the bottom line for The 1975 frontman Matthew Healy. The indie band’s lead singer on why playing the cliched rocker isn’t an act.

The 1975

Not an overnight success Healy’s dedication to his labor is irrefutable: The band, formed in 2004 and signed in 2012, ground it out for 10 years playing free gigs before their ascent to capacity venues such as Brixton Academy, Shepherd’s Bush Empire in London and The Bowery Ballroom in New York. It’s an oft-forgotten fact that the band wasn’t a fabricated overnight success story, much to Healy’s chagrin. Healy confides, “I find my salvation in being creative and the pursuit of purity.” It’s an expression that’ll once again divide his critics, but he says, through a final contemplative puff: “I would rather f— up in the media and say silly things than be a part of this conveyor belt. I’m much more myself now than I was at the beginning of the campaign — and I think it makes me more endearing.”

“It’s just f—ing go, go, go. I’m going to smoke a joint here to fill the cliche, but it’s the only time I can close the door away from everybody else,” says a weary-looking Matt Healy. The lead singer’s rock band, The 1975, has pretty much been on a world tour for the past two years, and it’s not over yet. It’s no surprise that the 25-year-old Londoner is distractedly pacing the trailer in the artists’ area at Reading Festival before slumping into the sofa and sparking up a joint. “People don’t really know this but I’m a very ticky person,” he explains through a smoke-soaked voice. Does he need the weed to relax? “I don’t need it; I don’t have that vice. I’ve always smoked a lot of weed and it’s kind of part of my identity,” he rebuts, before citing that all too frequently

heard comparison to people who enjoy a glass of wine after work. Healy’s defensiveness over his habit stems from “the stigma with smoking weed, especially in the U.K.; it is imbued with the idea of being slightly juvenile,” he says. His understandably slightly agitated rebuff continues between tokes: “I’ve got a big song [“Chocolate”] about it; I’ve been defined by it. If I were a junkie or a drug addict, and I was, like, strung out all the time, I wouldn’t be able to do 300 gigs a year.” Whether you advocate for drug legalization or not, the man is not just turning up, he’s performing with the bravado of a eulogized rocker. Healy, whose indie rock band – made up of Ross Macdonald, Adam Hann and George Daniel – reached No. 1 in the U.K. with their self-titled debut album in September 2013, is aware that he panders to what he describes as “this flamboyant kind of dandy. There is an element of parody to me, the parody of the rock star and that’s kind of who I am, you know. I’m not trying to be anyone else. I’m obviously 25

and having fun.” He knows his wine-swigging antics on stage might earn him some criticism, but as he protests, “People don’t want me to go out and be bashful. I don’t want to go out and be bashful. What is the f—ing point? I’ve not worked all my life to come and worry what the whole guest area thinks!” Nor should he. Healy is the palatable side of poprock stardom: a rakelike hedonism without stumbling into The Libertines frontman Pete Doherty’s hazy opiate-induced world of missed gigs and police custody. “I’m from a very middleclass environment, and I was embracing being a left-field artist when I was younger. For me it was all about the music; I didn’t get involved with heavy drugs,” he says As image-conscious as the effete-looking singer appears, one wonders whether the self-styled dandyism – dressed in skinny black jeans and a crumpled white shirt provocatively undone a button too far, with dishevelled Byronesque hair – doesn’t try to divert attention away from the music. “A lot has been documented about me, but not really enough about how everything I do is in the pursuit of music. “I know there are certain cliches that surround it, but my identity is really ingrained in music,” he says.

Dalaras was a major figure in the genre’s revival in the 1970’s. His current show, “Rembetiko Unplugged,” pays tribute

to his father, also a rembetiko singer.

“Arabian Nights,” now in its fourth revival, is becoming something of a holiday tradition in Cambridge. The story of Scheherazade and the five selected tales here have nothing to do with the holidays, of course, but they resonate perfectly with the enchantment and mystery of the season.

American Repertory Theater’s latest show is the world premiere of “The Vagina Monologues playwright Eve Ensler’s new play, “O.P.C, which explores ideas of how best to affect change in the world. The mother/daughter duo of Smith and Romi are ostensibly both liberal people interested in protecting the environment, but they go about it in different ways: Smith is running for the Senate, while Romi has no interest in politics and embraces freeganism and dumpster diving. The play seems likely to create debate, particularly in liberal Cam-

bridge. Even the actors have had their issues with it, with Oscar-winner Melissa Leo leaving the play only a few weeks ago. But Olivia Thirlby (“Juno), who plays Romi, seems pretty passionate about it. Describe Romi. Romi defies description. ... She is an informer, an enlightener, a seducer, a mad, passionate, twinkling star. What is the central conflict? The central conflict between Smith and Romi is the central conflict of the play, which is we know that we need to change the world that we live in and the structure that we’re all encased in. The question is, do we do it by changing the structure from within, or do we do it by changing from outside of it, as in from not participating in it, which is quite radical and very difficult to do?

Did you end up sympathizing with both sides? I sympathized much more with Romi’s side, which is, the system is broken, it can’t be fixed, it’s inherently flawed and it needs to change. Since this production is a premiere, has it changed much as you were working on it? The play changes every single day. It’s part of the process when you’re mounting a new play. If the writer is present, which they often are, then they’re also hearing their play for the first time and wanting to make changes to it. We have lots of cuts and additions and tweaks every day, sometimes whole new scenes. [Laughs] LISA WEIDENFELD @LisaWeidenfeld lisa.weidenfeld@metro.us

A slap in the face to legal immigrants

legally and paid thousands of dollars for the chance to be an American, only to see line jumpers rejoicing that they weren’t stupid enough to do things the right way? And how about a dose of reality? Obama is only doing this because the Democrat base is starting to dwindle and he needs to create a new voting class dependent on government handouts, which is what this amnesty is. The Republicans will kick and flail, but their base wants cheap labor, so they won’t stop it. The only people who seem to come out losers are —wait for

So Metro is now going to showcase story after story, letter after letter, of all those poor illegal immigrants who have been living for decades illegally in the U.S. and now don’t have to worry because even though they committed a crime, Emperor Obama is just going to change the laws they broke. How about some stories of those legal immigrants who did everything

it — the America taxpayer. FRANK DIXON, VIA EMAIL

It’s difficult to read all the talk about illegal immigrants (I don’t use the word “undocumented”; it’s just a fancy word for illegal that the media prefers to use) “coming out of the shadows” from the difficult situations that they put themselves in, because after they cheated the system, they should be glad that they are allowed to stay in the country at all! And some of them even have the gall to say that the immigration reform is not enough, and they demand

more concessions! That’s like someone breaking into your home, and then demanding that you feed them, because they’re entitled to be there! What about the legal immigrants, who spent years going through the honest route and taking all the proper channels to become residents or citizens? Were we just wasting our time? Do we get a refund? NFL power rankings | by Matt Burke No. 1

No. 2

Here’s an idea of just how hot the Patriots are right now. Detroit lost to our No. 2 team in the rankings, the Cardinals, by eight points on the road in Week 11. In Week 12, Detroit was shredded by the Pats on the road by 25 points.

No. 11

Eagles (8-3)

Seahawks (7-4)

Colts (7-4)

Bruce Arians’ Kangol hat went from “fashion statement” to “lame.” The Joe Maddon of the NFL doesn’t look nearly as smart scoring just three points.

A blowout win at home over the Titans isn’t going to wow anyone, but give the Eagles some credit for taking care of business against the dregs.

The NFC West has the Seahawks, Cards, 49ers and frisky Rams. Any of those teams would be dominating the disgrace that is the NFC South.

The Colts could very well be a division fraud, beefing up on victories thanks to the fact that they play in the lowly AFC South.

No. 6

No. 9

No. 12

Cowboys (8-3)

Lions (7-4)

Ravens (7-4)

After putting up back-to-back 50-point outings, the Packers were only able to place 24 points on the Vikes. Looking ahead to New England?

Tell Grandma to take the bird out early. Eagles at Cowboys is what Thanksgiving is all about. FYI: Dallas hasn’t beaten a quality opponent in a month.

No team is hanging with the Pats right now, so we’ll give Detroit a pass for laying an egg in Foxboro. Detroit has a soft schedule the rest of the way.

We used this space last week to rag on old man Steve Smith. Well, the bye week gave Sr. a chance to rest his legs as he torched the Saints.

Browns (7-4)

The Broncos found themselves down 14-3 to a legit Miami team but Denver’s line picked things up and allowed Peyton Manning to throw four TDs.

The Niners host Seattle in the “Couch Pass-out Classic.” Take a fireball shot around 9 p.m. and see if either Seattle or San Fran can break double-digits.

Since a midseason hiccup in which they gave up 43 and 37 points to the Pats and Panthers, respectively, Cincy’s “D” has kept teams in the 20s.

Brian Hoyer hasn’t posted a quarterback rating over 100.0 in the past four weeks but don’t expect Johnny Football to come to the rescue.

NHL. Bruins rookie forward Pastrnak will be learning on the fly in 2014-15 He only played 7:53, 10 shifts, in his NHL debut, but Bruins rookie forward David Pastrnak has already left his mark. By appearing in Boston’s 3-2 overtime loss against Pittsburgh on Monday at TD Garden, he became the youngest player to compete in the league so far this season. The Bruins’ first-round pick (25th overall) from the Czech Republic was born on May 25, 1996, which makes him roughly the age of a high school senior or college freshman. Including the Penguins game, the B’s have scored two goals or less in six of their last seven contests. With nagging injuries to David Krejci, Chris Kelly and Brad Marchand (who returned vs. Pittsburgh), GM Peter Chiarelli felt like it was time to give Pastrnak his chance after the prized rookie got hurt at the end of training camp — causing him to miss the start of Boston’s regular season. Pastrnak is listed as 6-footeven but is only 167 pounds, so he needs to add some size to battle in the corners and in front of NHL nets. Still, his talent jumps off the ice.

David Pastrnak is adjusting well to the bright lights of the NHL. BOSTON GLOBE

“I thought he had good legs and so I put him on a couple lines here and obviously you can see that he’s a pretty dynamic player,” Bruins head coach Claude Julien said. In 17 games with Providence, Pastrnak had showed the ability to make a quick adjustment to the North American style of play (keep in mind this is his first season in the U.S.). He had five goals while his 13 assists, 18 points

and plus-12 rating all led the team. Finding the right time to call up a young player is always a tough call. If it’s too early or he doesn’t play much, you risk stunting his development. In this case, the Bruins felt like it was worth it since they were getting so little in terms of offense from their bottom two forward lines and they had a severe lack of creativity among the forwards.
