BU police warn about serial student groper, seek suspect Sexual assaults. Multiple women have reported being groped as they walked near campus. Boston University Police are on the hunt for a groper wanted in three sexual assaults that took place on Monday evening and over the weekend. Three women reported being groped in the Commonwealth Avenue area by a male suspect who then fled the area after the assaults. “When something like this happens, we would encourage, but not pressure, victims to tell the police and talk to someone they trust,” B.U.’s Center for Gender, Sexuality and Activism volunteer Kara Webb said. “We advise people to go out with friends or known associates and stick to the strength in numbers,” Webb said. “Unfortunately, that is sometimes used on the flipside in blaming a victim for not going far above

and beyond to avoid an assault. Our mission is to ensure that people are able to feel safe if they need a place to discuss instances like this.” Sex therapist Dr. Dan Pollets said that behaviors like a serial groper are often progressive, meaning that the perpetrator will actively seek more of these thrills to get a higher stimulation. “In general, instances like this are more of a fetish behavior and taking a victim by surprise,” Pollets Said. “...Quite often, the perpetrator has been sexually abused or traumatized.” Pollets said that in many cases, the perpetrator will play a sort of “cat and mouse” game with authorities. “They will commit an act in one location then another in a different location on purpose to throw off authorities,” he said. “It is important to know that the community is at risk until this person is caught.”

Details on the assaults The first incident happened around 5:23 p.m. near Chester Street. The victim said she felt the suspect approach her from behind and attempt to lift her dress. The victim then spun around and struck the suspect and chased him until he got away. The second incident took place near 855 Commonwealth Ave. when a suspect approached the victim from behind, lifted her skirt and fled toward the Agganis Arena. The third assault took place on the B.U. Bridge. Similar assaults were reported over the weekend in the Linden Street, Ashford Street and Pratt Street area. The suspect is described as a white male in his thirties, 5 feet 9, about 165 lbs., with a thin build and short hair.

Cops look to treat, not charge, opiate users Gloucester. “Lives are literally at stake,” say police. The Gloucester Police Department is taking a large step in combating the opiate epidemic plaguing the seaside city. As of June 1, Gloucester Police will not arrest anyone who walks in high on arrival or in possession of needles, other drug paraphernalia or controlled substances. Instead of treating addicts and users as criminals, the police will take steps to help the individual toward detox and recovery. The GPD have teamed up with the Addison Gilbert and Lahey Clinics, who have committed to helping individuals by assigning an “angel” who will sponsor and aid their recovery. To accompany this new measure, CVS Pharmacies will offer Nasal Narcan without prescription. The opioid blocker

has changed the world of opiate treatment by preventing respiratory depression, sedation and hypotension without creating dependency as morphine does. The GPD will pay for the cost of the nasal spray for those without insurance from money directly confiscated from drug dealers. In the GPD’s Facebook announcement, they said they “will save lives with the money from the pockets of those who would take them.”

GPD Chief Leonard Campanello said he will travel to Washington D.C. on May 12 where he will ask elected officials to hold federal agencies, insurance companies and big businesses accountable for building a support system in hopes of maintaining a longterm support system for those afflicted by addiction. “I have been on both sides of this issue, having spent seven years as a plainclothes narcotics detective,” Campanello wrote. “I have arrested or charged many addicts and dealers. I’ve never arrested a tobacco addict, nor have I ever seen one turned down for help when they develop lung cancer, whether or not they have insurance. The reasons for the difference in care between a tobacco addict and an opiate addict is stigma and money. Petty reasons to lose a life.” NATE HORMAN @MetroBOS letters@metro.us

Barbara Tatge, a cancer survivor from Tennessee, made good on her daughter’s bet while running the race last month: she planted a kiss on a hot guy. Then, as chronicled in

the Wellesley Townsman, her daughter launched a quest to find the man. They got a response -- from his wife. “When this story aired on the news we were pretty surprised,” wrote the wife, who went unnamed in the Townsman. “For me, I’m not mad. Believe me, our friends have gotten a lot of mileage out of this story and I

have thoroughly enjoyed watching them give my husband grief.” Tatge for her part, apologized if the “media firestorm” caused him “any discomfort.” “I accepted my daughter’s good-hearted dare of reversing the Wellesley tradition,” Tatge told the paper. DANNY MCDONALD

Testimony: Elder bomber was cruel man Bombing trial. Tamerlan Tsarnaev was hurtful and dominating, witnesses testified Tuesday. The older of the two brothers in the Boston Marathon bombing was a controlling boyfriend who terrified his future wife’s friends but held great influence in his family, witnesses testified as lawyers fought to save the younger brother’s life. Tamerlan Tsarnaev, 26, died four days after the April 15, 2013 attack that killed three people and injured 264. His younger brother, Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, last month was convicted of carrying out the attack and could be sentenced to death. Defense lawyers on Tuesday continued to call witnesses to make their case that the surviving brother, 21, should be sentenced to life in prison without possibility of release rather than death for carrying out one of the highestprofile attacks on U.S. soil since Sept. 11, 2001. The lawyers, who at the trial’s opening in March conceded that Dzhokhar Tsarnaev had committed all the crimes of which he was accused, contend that Tamerlan was the driving force behind the bombing, with his younger brother going along out of a sense of sibling loyalty. The jury also heard testimony that the Tsarnaevs’ father, Anzor, was mentally ill and that the oldest healthy male in any family of the Tsarnaevs’ Chechen ethnicity was expected to lead and be obeyed. Amanda Ransom, 25, told jurors that her college friendship with Katherine Russell, Tamerlan’s widow, unraveled

Policies. He would change the approach on ISIS threat from attempting to contain it to instead conquering it. Republican Mike Huckabee entered the race for his party’s 2016 presidential nomination on Tuesday, looking to break out from an everwidening field by drawing on the support of social conservatives attuned to his culturewarrior message. In a speech filled with fiery rhetoric, Huckabee, a former governor of Arkansas, said that, if elected, he would change government policies to focus more on the economic plight of middle-class Americans. Huckabee vowed strong U.S. support for Israel and took a dim view of negotiations aimed at deterring Iran from developing a nuclear weapon. “Hell will freeze over be-

fore Iran gets a nuclear weapon, he added. A former Baptist pastor and unabashed culture warrior, he entered the Republican field facing competition for the support of social conservatives who backed him in 2008. Huckabee spoke of his life in Arkansas, recalling daily prayers, fishing and hunting. He met his wife at the high school they attended. The candidate said hardworking Americans are being left behind in today’s economy and blamed President Barack Obama for U.S. economic woes.

Movie. A special hot line set up after the film ‘The Monuments Men’ helped recover the paintings. Five paintings missing since World War II are being returned to Germany from the United States so that they can be given back to their rightful owners, the State Department and Monuments Men Foundation said on Tuesday. The foundation, which aims to return art works missing since the war, said the

move came at the behest of the families of those who acquired the art. “The paintings ... represent an important part of Germany’s cultural heritage. They have a long history,” Victoria Nuland, Assistant Secretary of State for European affairs, told reporters. “Both sets disappeared at the end of the war and resurfaced in the United States.” Three of the paintings, which originated from an art gallery in the Germany city of Dessau, were won by an American soldier in a poker game, who later mailed them to his wife. The works, by Frans

Francken III, Christian Wilhelm Ernst Dietrich and Franz de Paula Ferg, had been hidden in a potassium mine for safekeeping during the war, according to the foundation. The two other paintings, which once belonged to Queen Victoria’s daughter Princess Victoria, came from a castle near Frankfurt, which was confiscated by U.S. forces and converted into an officers’ club. Those works, which include a portrait of Princess Victoria as a child being held by her mother, were bought in 1945 by a woman who served as a librarian for the U.S. Special Services. REUTERS

In Baltimore, AG pledges to help police reform

New U.S. Attorney General Loretta Lynch on Tuesday met with Baltimore officials and the family of a 25-yearold black man killed by police last month and vowed to help the city pursue police reform. The meeting in Baltimore came the week after the city’s top prosecutor brought criminal charges against the six officers involved in the April 12 arrest of Freddie Gray, who suffered a spinal injury that led to his death a week later. Gray’s death was the latest in a series of police killings of unarmed black men across the United States and provoked weeks of largely peaceful protests punctuated by a day of arson and looting on April 27. “This is a flash point situation,” Lynch told a group of officials after a private meet-

Prosecutor Marilyn Mosby said last week there had been no legal basis for Gray’s arrest, which came after he fled from a police officer after making eye contact. REUTERS

US probing Islamic State claims it was behind Texas cartoon attack

U.S. investigators were looking into claims by the Islamic State that it was behind a failed attack on a Texas exhibit of cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad in which two gunmen were killed, but officials said they doubted the group’s direct involvement. Islamic State said on its official online radio station that “two soldiers of the caliphate” carried out the attack. The White House said it was too early to tell if the gunmen killed were tied to ISIS. Spokesman Josh Earnest said many people tried to capitalize on the influence of the group by claiming allegiance when they were not affiliated.

US approves $330 million in emergency funds for bird flu outbreak in poultry The Office of Management and Budget has granted U.S. Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack the authority to transfer an additional $330 million in emergency funds for the agency’s handling of the quickly spreading avian influenza outbreak. The funds will be used to cover indemnity claims filed by poultry farmers whose flocks have been infected by the highly pathogenic H5 virus and other issues related to the outbreak, the sources told Reuters. The additional funds will be added to the $84.5 million previously set aside by the USDA for the outbreak. REUTERS

Obama nominates new top US military officers

President Barack Obama nominated Marine General Joseph Dunford as the next chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, praising him as a leader who helped shape the changing role of U.S. troops in Afghanistan. Obama urged the Senate to quickly confirm Dunford and his new pick for vice-chairman, Air Force General Paul Selva. He said he would rely on their advice on the fight against Islamic State militants and “rebalancing” U.S. military posture in the Asia Pacific region. REUTERS

Met Gala: Katy Perry and John Mayer pack on the PDA

CULTURE

So I guess we’re officially back into the on-again swing of Katy Perry and John Mayer’s epic, years-long, on-again, off-again romance? Because they were the talk of the Met Gala after-party circuit after they were spotted locking lips, holding hands and generally canoodling at a soiree at the Boom Boom Room, according to Us Weekly. (Also, I’m sure it’s a fun place and all, but that really just sounds like toddler code for the bathroom.) So if you, like me, have a fancy, twosided Perry-Mayer sign on your fridge — kind of like a “clean or dirty” button for the dishwasher — kindly flip it to “on,” because they’re totally on. Speaking of on-again, off-again romance, relations between Justin Bieber and ex Selena Gomez appeared to warm, as the two were seen acting civil toward one another at Rihanna’s afterparty, where they “exchanged some words,” according to E! News. And while he even told the paparazzi that “Selena looked gorgeous” on his way out, the

Biebs was apparently more focused on making an impression on the fashion world. So, you know, be afraid of that. “It meant so much to Justin,” a source says of his attending the Gala. “It was definitely his entrance into fashion. He was honored and happy the whole time.” Wow, the whole time? Impressive.

Ryan Gosling finally eats his cereal

Ryan Gosling isn’t necessarily a fan of the myriad Internet memes devoted to him, but the guy’s not made of stone, OK? When he got word that Ryan McHenry, the Vine user who popularized the bizarre “Ryan Gosling won’t eat his cereal” videos, had passed away this week after a two-year battle with cancer, Gosling sprung into action, posting his own Vine featuring him finally — finally! — eating some cereal. “My heart goes out to all of Ryan McHenry’s family and friends,” Gosling tweeted. “Feel very lucky to have been a part of his life in some small way.” Now if we could only get him to lighten up on the “hey girl” stuff.

Miley Cyrus knows how to launch a charity

Miley Cyrus is bringing back her fun “Backyard Sessions” music performance series but this time with a purpose. The “Wrecking Ball” singer just launched the Happy Hippie Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to supporting at-risk LGBT and homeless youth. She kicks things off by dueting with none other than Joan Jett on a rendition of Joan Jett and the Blackhearts’ “Different,”

and further duets feature Ariana Grande, Melanie Safka and Against Me!’s Laura Jane Grace. “I want to use my voice as a megaphone to young people everywhere and encourage human evolution,” Cyrus says. “No one should have to hide who they really are, no matter what his or her name, gender or status. That’s why Happy Hippies are here to say that every life is valuable.” There’s no joke here. I just think she’s doing something awesome.

lady that makes me feel like we might be related: “Hey there, I’m super hungover. Can I get you some waters?”

You may find this hard to believe, but there’s trouble in the Jackson family. Michael Jackson’s oldest kids, Paris and Prince, are reportedly no longer speaking to each other, according to Radar Online. “Paris is barely even speaking to her older brother Prince,” a source says. “She cannot tolerate her brother and says that he is disgracing

their father’s legacy” since turning 18 and inheriting a massive fortune. Prince, it seems, has been acting out, and “this type of behavior does not fly” with Paris, according to the source. “The family is doing everything that they can to keep Paris away from Prince because they do not want her to go down the wrong path again.” Sure, but where does Blanket stand on all of this?

FILM

Carey Mulligan is a modern woman Interview. The actress likes that “Far from the Madding Crowd is feminist even for today. Carey Mulligan says she wasn’t really looking to do another period drama when “Far from the Madding Crowd came along. She’s always done them, but the role of Bathsheba Everdene — a headstrong woman juggling three suitors to whom she’s either indifferent or weirdly into — was too good to turn down. The actress talks about how this Thomas Hardy adaptation was different and whether she’d ever do something splashier.

The uniqueness of Bathsheba Everdene: “What I was so excited about was that it’s a story that started with a woman who turned down a proposal of marriage. And a good one. It’s a young woman in one of the Victorian classics that doesn’t start her

story looking to be married and isn’t looking to be defined by a man. It really hasn’t crossed her mind that she would be married. That was so exciting. That was obviously not the viewpoint of most women of the time.

Working with others: “When you get to work with actors like this, there’s a certain security — especially when you make an idiot of yourself in the first week, which is what I did. She also found director Thomas Vinterberg a great help. “We had so many extensive, long conversations going around and around on things. And Thomas said things over and over and over again. I was really annoying. By the time we were on set, we were set on an idea.

On the costumes: “We wanted to feel like real people and not actors wearing outfits, not people wearing makeup — but still vaguely attractive in daylight. We never wanted it to feel like a buttoned-up costume drama where people wear outfits and look uncomfortable. ... The

way Thomas shoots, it’s all about performances. The era is reflected in the costumes. The makeup and the hair, because we were outside all the time, could get ruined immediately. It had to be endurable and functional. But they always made us look good, which was a bonus. MATT PRIGGE @mattprigge

Carey: Action star? On the idea of her ever taking an action movie role, she says: “Never say never to anything. The decisions I’ve made over the last couple years have been driven by the characters and the scripts and the directors. ... I’m always drawn to really strong characters but also characters that have a lot to them. I’m not really interested in playing twodimensional people. But what’s amazing about Bathsheba is she’s complex and mixed-up and strong and resilient — she’s just so many things in one. That’s what I’m driven by. And if that came in the form of some action hero, then of course, that’d be great. But it might not happen.

The lecturer, Jose de Dios Mata, is originally from Spain. As a teenager, he felt a special interest in music and studied flamenco guitar. Later, he worked for the government and for five years was a special agent in the Intelligence Services. In his personal life, he faced a pressing challenge. A relative’s sudden illness as well as his own almost complete loss of hearing due to a congenital lesion, which he was told would require immediate surgery or result in total deafness, forced him to seek a solution. Jose de Dios was introduced to Christian Science by a doctor who encouraged him to explore this system of spiritual healing. Both situations were quickly and completely healed solely through reading Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy.

in that movie. Everyone was so hyped, and the trailer sort of tricked everybody,” Signore explains. “So we did that on a lark as a one-off. It did pretty well, and then I was like, ‘Let’s try it again.’ And everyone else went, ‘Are you sure? It was kind of a one-note thing.’ And then we did ‘Twilight,’ ‘Transformers’ and ‘Titanic,’ and those hit even harder. After those and then ‘Avatar,’ we realized we had something seriously connecting with the audience.”

“We’ve often said, ‘Couldn’t we do a trailer of a movie that just has a trailer?’ But you don’t have the honest footage because the trailer is always giving you the cool parts, and most of our Honest Trailers are built around the boring parts or the parts that they don’t really want you to see.”

You can play with the format “We have a formula, don’t get me wrong, but we’ll try and step away from it when we can,” Signore says. “We don’t have to do the same thing week after week, we can try new things. Like our ‘Boyhood’ Honest Trailer — whether it was successful or not as far as views, it was just fun to take a break and do a different format. I remember being worried about if the ‘Les Miserables’ one would work. When we can push ourselves and find sort of the different format changes, I think it helps us stay sane and keeps the brand fresh.”

Sometimes studios come asking for it “We’ve had a few [studios approach us]. None of them have come to fruition because they realize, ‘Oh wait, I don’t think we want to actually do it,’” Signore says. “Some actors have been in touch about doing one of their classic movies, but then they don’t want to incur the wrath of that sort of thing. We’ve yet to crack the code of the studio- or actor-endorsed thing.”

Sometimes the filmmakers aren’t too pleased “When he saw the ‘Lego Movie’ one, Chris Miller tweeted, ‘I don’t really agree with this, but I laughed,’” Signore says. “Zack Stentz, who wrote ‘Thor’ and ‘First Class,’ tweeted out, ‘If anyone shares these insufferable Honest Trailers with me again, I will unfollow you.’ We replied to him and apologized, and he has actually become a fan.” NED EHRBAR @Nedrick ned.ehrbar@metro.us

Children learn the feminist ABCs in ‘Rad’ new book Story time. A new children’s book exposes boys and girls to important women in history they otherwise might not learn about. “Rad American Women A-Z” is more than just an average kids’ alphabet book: A is for Angela Davis, P is for Patti Smith and S is for Sonia Sotomayor. The groundbreaking children’s book contains stories of history’s most radical women — stories that are not often taught to young children. We spoke with author Kate Schatz about the book, which has become an overnight success; it has sold out of its first two print runs, and a third run is on its way. Why is it important for young girls and boys to read “Rad American Women” and books like it? It’s obviously super important for girls to have strong role models, but it’s totally important for boys to have strong female role models as well. If they don’t grow up respecting women, admiring women and seeing women in strong positions of power and success, then that doesn’t change our misogynistic culture at all. What do you say to people who think the book is only for girls? When people have been skeptical about whether boys can relate to the book, my response is, “Why would we expect young boys to relate more to George Washington than to Sonia Sotomayor?” I think kids can relate to [these women] way more than they can to these abstract, ancient heroes that we just assume all kids will be interested in. Were there any women you wanted to include in the book but didn’t have room for? Yes, thousands and thousands of them. These are really just a jumping off point, these 26. For a lot of the letters we had just a huge

Yeah! K is for Kate Bornstein, who is a really wonderful trans activist and playwright and writer. She wrote “My Gender Workbook,” and some really great texts that are used in a lot of women’s studies classes. I don’t make a huge deal about it. I don’t say, “This is really controversial.” I just say, “She was born with a boy’s body, but she always felt like a girl, and now she lives as a woman, and that’s that.” And it’s fun. And kids are just like, “OK, cool!” Do you have any “Rad American Women” in your personal life? Was there anyone that was inspiring to you who isn’t famous? Yes, so many. The truth of the book, and what I tried to get out with the entry for “X” is that 99.9 percent of “Rad Women” are not famous. I

boho is to go bold. “People get scared to make a bold paint choice because they’re scared they’ll hate it. But if you hate it, you can just paint it a different color. It’s not a permanent thing,” she says. “I have a dresser I bought for $100 at this place called Junk in Brooklyn, and I’ve painted it, like, five different colors.”

Creating a home rich in texture and color doesn’t mean you have to wait around for one of the chic Tibetan boutiques in your neighborhood to have a sidewalk sale. “The key to bohemian style is a layered and collected home that reflects your own personality,” says Justina Blakeney, author of the beautiful new coffee-table book “The New Bohemians.” “The heart of a bohemian home is creativity,” she says. With that in mind, we called her for some tips on how to create a boho home without going broke.

Instead of spending a fortune on freshly cut flowers, Blakeney says to figure out what type of potted plants will thrive in your apartment. “I included a plantipedia in the back of the book to bust the green thumb/brown thumb myth,” she says. “You just need the information about what type of plants thrive in the environment you have at home, how often you should water it, and then just follow through.” To her, a plant trailing down a tall bookshelf or a beautiful palm arching in the corner is a staple to bohemian living and provides a figurative and literal breath of fresh air. “Everything around us is computers and cars. Even at home, we have all these machines, metal and cement. We need to balance out urban living with plants,” she says.

Stroll down the baby aisle at any grocery store, and you’ll see rows and rows of little squeeze-pouches of premade baby food. This trend has picked up major steam over the last few years, and with good reason—they’re quick, easy and convenient. They can also be a bit pricey. Fortunately, parents can now buy reusable squeeze-pouches for their homemade food. Monson particularly likes the Little Green Pouch brand. “On the bottom, it’s like a Ziploc that you can open to put the food in, and it zips tight so it doesn’t leak,” she says. “You just unscrew the cap and squeeze the food out.” She adds that you can also make food in batches and then freeze it in the reusable pouches. Since they defrost so quickly, they make for a great grab-and-go option.

“You gotta take the granny out of a lot of the homes in Medford,” says Christian Petrillo, a lifelong resident of the city and Managing Partner at Newbury Street-based Entrepid Capital Partners. Next month, in conjunction with Waypoint Companies, Petrillo’s company launches The Residences @ One St. Clare in Medford, a conversion of the St. Francis of Assisi School building into a new condominium housing 18 residences. “We’re redefining what living in Medford can be. We have raised the bar. These offer a city feel that’s sleek and chic, with roof decks and city views,” he says. The city view being Boston, a place where, like Petrillo, people work but prefer to leave be-

hind at the end of the day to head home to a quieter area. Like Medford? “You feel like you’re somewhere else. There’s the Fellsway to explore, yet you’re 10 minutes from Boston,” says Petrillo. He may not even need to talk up his latest project, as there are no other condos currently on the market in Medford. “Zero condos, no inventory,” Petrillo says. “We have a list of people waiting for these to become available.” The Residences @ One St. Clare isn’t just any project, and it was essential to Petrillo it be well-received by the people already living there and that they understood that it wasn’t just a way to make money. “I drive by the building

every day. I am connected to this neighborhood, not just to the city,” he says. “I was married at St. Francis church and my children were baptized there.” The Residences @ One St. Clare have been three years in the finishing, one-andhalf of which were spent working with the city and neighbors on permits and design. “With houses of worship, they’re a cornerstone in the community,” Petrillo says. “There’s a lot of emotional ties and you have to be respectful of concerns. We held meetings and listened, altered plans, then held more meetings. If there were problems, we addressed them. It’s always a good plan to listen to the neighborhood.”

It’s good to be a cow Re: ‘Don’t have a cow’ (Metro, May 4) I don’t know where the letter writer got his information, but clearly, he hasn’t been to the same farms I’ve been to. Most small farmers (NOT corporations) treat their cows very well. They are fed in the morning and milked. Then they are turned out into a pasture all day, where they can eat, chew cud and socialize. In the evening, they are fed and milked again. It’s a pretty good life for a cow. The farms I have been

Attacking the way livestock is raised with incendiary misinformation is not only manipulative of concerned consumers, it is downright hurtful to farmers. It breaks my heart seeing my childhood memories on my family’s dairy farm degraded to the point of “cruelty.” Newborn calves are allowed to spend time with their mothers after birth but are later housed separately from their mothers for the safety of the baby. The milk from the mother cow is provided to the calves in order to provide colostrum and other nutrients, similar to that of milk provided after a human baby

is born. Cows are not chained onto a concrete floor, as that is not healthy for the animal and reduces production. A healthy cow can live for ten years or more on a dairy and not four, as mentioned in the published letter. Looking out for the health and well-being of livestock is not only the moral responsibility of a dairy farmer, it is also needed to put food on the table for their family. DOUG S., VIA EMAIL

to keep a bull, so the cows can breed when they like. The cows are named. They are vaccinated whenever necessary. The calves are not taken from mom at birth; instead, they are kept together and weaned when appropriate. Then they are given a formula just like human babies. I’ve never seen a cow chained to a floor, not allowed outside and otherwise treated badly. Farmers make their living by selling the milk their cows produce. Unhappy or ill-treated cows do not produce, so it is in the farmer’s best interest to treat them as humanely as possible. SUE EARLEY, VIA EMAIL

Patriots release CB Dennard A year after cornerback was seemingly the deepest position on their roster, the Patriots are heading into the 2015 season with a scary lack of depth in the secondary. The Pats waived cornerback Alfonzo Dennard Tuesday after losing Darrelle Revis and Brandon Browner in March. Dennard was placed on injured reserve prior to New England’s 2014 season finale but had a big 2013 postseason, recording a pair of interceptions.

Cup playoffs can provide some lessons for Bruins NHL. The Bruins may want to follow the model set by some of the current Cup contenders. Summer hasn’t even officially started yet but it feels like it has been months since the Bruins last played a game at TD Garden. The B’s just missed out on the playoffs and scattered around the world for the longer-than-expected offseason, so it has been a quiet few weeks on Causeway Street. Who knows how much of the Stanley Cup postseason Boston and its front-office are watching, but for those who have tuned in, here are some things they have probably noted: they need a top goal-scorer, goal tending (as always) wins in the playoffs and the dominant teams out West (Chicago and Anaheim) look like the class of the league. Boston’s fans should at least be enjoying the fact that Montreal dropped its first two games of the Eastern Conference semifinal series at the Bell Centre vs. Tampa Bay. The Canadiens face a must-win on Wednesday (7 p.m., USA) at Amalie Arena. The Lightning won, 2-1, in double overtime in Game 1 then embarrassed Montreal, 6-2, in Game 2 on Saturday. For all of Boston’s recent struggles vs. Montreal, Tampa Bay is the exact opposite as they are 7-0-0 against the Canadiens this season. Ben Bishop (6-3, 1.71 goals against average, .933 save percentage,

Alex Ovechkin and the Capitals have a 2-1 series lead over the Rangers in the Eastern Conference semi-finals. / GETTY IMAGES GM search The Bruins’ search for a GM continues: •

one shutout) has never won a playoff series before, but right now he’s outplaying Montreal star goaltender Carey Price (4-4, 2.34 goals against average, .922 save percentage, one shutout). The Capitals and Rangers have been more evenly matched through three games with Washington on top 2-1 after a thrilling 1-0 victory in Game 3 on Monday. Capitals goaltender Braden Holtby (54, 1.54 goals against average, .949 save percentage) has been

outstanding while Washington has gotten plenty of contributions from its depth players like forward Jay Beagle, who scored the game-winning goal in Game 3. Boston still has Tuukka Rask and plenty of solid role players but obviously the B’s have nothing that resembles Capitals star forward Alexander Ovechkin (4 goals, 4 assists). Likewise, the amount of high-level players out West is staggering. Anaheim’s Corey

Perry leads the league with 13 points this postseason while line-mate Ryan Getzlaf has added 10 points. And the B’s surely get painful memories of a 2013 Stanley Cup Final loss whenever they see the Blackhawks since most of the that same nucleus - Patrick Kane, Duncan Keith and Jonathan Toews are still tearing it up.
