Australia said that a piece of suspected airplane debris found east of Africa on a Mauritian island will be examined to see if it is part of Malaysia Airlines Flight 370, which went missing two years ago in one of the world’s greatest aviation mysteries. A hotel owner on the island who saw the debris said it looked like it was from the inside of a plane, with what he thought was a wallpaper “design,” which if confirmed, would be the first piece of interior debris from the plane yet to be found.

Australia has led the search for the plane, which went missing in March 2014 with 239 people on board on a flight from the Malaysian capital, Kuala Lumpur, to Beijing, and Transport Minister Darren Chester said the debris, found last week, was an “item of interest.” REUTERS

John Kasich for president with a front-page editorial in its latest hard-copy edition. Tesla Motors Inc. said orders for its new Model 3 electric sedan topped 253,000 in the first 36 hours — a fast start for the company’s first mass-market vehicle, which may not begin to reach customers for another 18 months or more. Tesla Chief Executive Elon Musk tweeted on Friday that the Model 3, which is slated to go into production in late 2017, will sell at an average price of $42,000, including the price of options and additional features, which would give the initial flurry of orders an estimated retail value of $10.6 billion. This is going to be one wild April week, with extremes in temperatures and precipitation.

If you want to talk about the full weather gamut ranging from rain to snow, from freeze to warmth, this week will have it. And by looking at the long-range models, April might turn out to be colder than March.

It’s also the opening week for the baseball season. The New York Yankees have their home opener today and the rain falling this afternoon could change over to wet snow towards game’s end. It could be worse: Back on April 6, 1982, the game was cancelled due to a full-blown blizzard — really baseball season in the Northern states should not start until May 1. I’ve been advocat-

ing this for years as the fans suffer the most.

You’ll be freezing your plants off come Tuesday morning as the mercury drops into Januarylike levels back down into the 20s and crops, if not protected, and tender plants could suffer major damage.

On Wednesday morning, expect more widespread freeze and frost across the entire Northeast, but temperatures will start to rise back into the seasonably cool 50s. At the same time a more southerly flow on Thursday will send readings back to the unseasonably mild side along with a pretty good chance of widespread heavy showers and storms developing.

An unwritten rule for those waiting on crowded subway platforms to board crowded trains: stand off to the side, let the on-train riders get off, then make your way inside.

Trying to cram oneself through as soon as the doors open can lead to human traffic jams and slow things down for everyone, as most commuters know.

Apparently, so is the T. The has agency rolled out some new markings on subway platforms designed to teach commuters the right way to board, reports The Boston Globe.

A New Hampshire woman is under arrest after police said she sold two bags of heroin to a confidential informant last week — curiously, both stamped with Donald Trump logos.

Darcie Rae Hall, 36, of Troy, New Hampshire, was arrested by detectives after a monthlong investigation by the state’s drug

Militant Jasim Khadijah, a former Iraqi officer not considered a high-value target, was killed by a drone strike overnight in northern Iraq, coalition spokesman U.S. Army Col. Steve Warren told reporters in Baghdad.

“We have information (that) he was a rocket expert, he controlled these attacks,” said Warren, referring to the shelling of a base used by U.S. troops near

the town of Makhmour, located between Mosul and Kirkuk.

That attack killed Marine Staff Sergeant Louis Cardin and wounded eight others, all part of a companysized detachment of less than 200 troops. They provide force protection fire to Iraqi army troops, who are making slow progress in a campaign to clear areas around Mosul, an IS stronghold.

Cardin’s was the second combat death of an American service member in Iraq since the start of the campaign to fight the militant group in 2014.

by Reuters, outlines the results of an audit ordered by Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon in response to charges against John Ashe, General Assembly president in 2013-2014, and six other people.

The United Nations’ internal investigations office has uncovered serious lapses and due-diligence failures in the world body’s interaction with organizations tied to an alleged bribery scheme involving a former U.N. General Assembly president.

The 21-page confidential report by the U.N. Office of Internal Oversight Services’ (OIOS), reviewed

by Reuters, outlines the results of an audit ordered

by Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon in response to charges against John Ashe, General Assembly president in 2013-2014, and six other people.

The report gave the U.N. an overall grade of “partially satisfactory” in the March 22 report, which is available to U.N.

OIOS urged Ban to ensure that any outside organizations the U.N. deals with are properly vetted. It also said that the U.N. should review any continuing relations with NGOs linked to the indictment.

The audit came in response to an ongoing U.S. investigation that has since October resulted in charges against seven people including Ashe, a former U.N. ambassador from Antigua and Barbuda.

U.S. prosecutors say Ashe received $1.3 million in bribes from Chinese businessmen including Ng Lap Seng, a billionaire real estate developer who heads Macau-based Sun Kian Ip Group and was

seeking to build a U.N.sponsored conference center in Macau.

Francis Lorenzo, a suspended deputy U.N. ambassador from the Dominican Republic who prosecutors said helped facilitate Ng’s bribes and received bribes himself, pleaded guilty in March and agreed to cooperate with U.S. authorities.

Sheri Yan, chief executive of Global Sustainability Foundation, a New Yorkbased NGO, and Heidi Hong Piao, its finance director, accused of facilitating bribes to Ashe, pleaded guilty in January. Julia Vivi Wang has not yet entered a plea, and Ng’s assistant Jeff Yin pleaded not guilty.

Attorneys for those charged either did not respond or declined to comment when contacted by Reuters. A spokesman for the Manhattan U.S. attorney’s office also declined to comment.

U.N. spokesman Stephane Dujarric said that while the Secretary-General was glad that the audit found many controls working properly, the flagged procedural lapses were a concern.

“Instructions reinforcing the correct procedures with respect to document issuance have been issued to the Departments and Offices concerned,” Dujarric said.

Donald Trump’s prediction that the U.S. economy was on the verge of a “very massive recession” hit a wall of skepticism on Sunday from economists who questioned the Republican presidential front-runner’s calculations.

“We’re not heading for a recession, massive

or minor, and the unemployment rate is not 20 percent,” said Harm Bandholz, chief U.S. economist at UniCredit Research in New York.

The official unemployment rate has declined to 5 percent from a peak of 10 percent in October 2009, according to government statistics. But a different, broader measure of unemployment that includes people who want

to work but have given up searching and those working part-time because they cannot find full-time employment is at 9.8 percent.

“I think we’re sitting on an economic bubble. A financial bubble,” Trump said. While calling it a bubble might be a stretch, the fall in corporate profits and the recent rally in stock prices has pushed up the market’s valuation, and stocks on balance are about 15 percent pricier at the moment than their long-term average valuation.

Keep an eye out for more Bernsters trying to prod her into a street fight, while their man keeps grinding away at her lead.

Most couples do part of the prep for their nuptials on the job.

With wedding season just around the corner, many couples are gearing up to tie the knot. And because wedding planning is like gas — it expands to fill every nook and cranny of empty space — brides and grooms-to-be organizing their own nuptials will find wedding-related tasks seeping into work hours.

Especially future brides.

Nine in 10 women say they put some company time into planning their wedding, and 90 percent of brides said their fiances devoted less time to wedding planning than they did, according to a survey from Forbes and TheKnot. com.

Dr. Amanda Miller, a professor of sociology at the University of Indianapolis, says this gender divide can make it harder for working women to balance their jobs with wedding prep.  “Women are getting married at older ages than in the past, which likely means they are in jobs that have higher levels of responsibility,� she says. “Your 30s is often when [you’re] more indispensable in the workplace.�

If your job is helping to fund the big day, the balancing act can be particularly stressful. Here are a few tips for working women who want to avoid a pre-wedding meltdown.

Know what you’re up against Recognizing the cultural factors that shape expectations about gender and weddings is crucial. “The pressure to plan a big extravaganza probably came about after the Princess Diana [wedding] in 1981,� says Dr. Katherine Jellison, author of “It’s Our Day: America’s Love Affair With the White Wedding, 1945-2005� and history department chair at Ohio University. “After that, we saw the increase in average people spending a lot of time and money and effort creating wedding spectaculars.� Another reason women bear the brunt of planning is the notion of “kin-keeping,� says Miller. “Kin-keeping is really this idea of keeping family re-

Lastly, keep things in perspective. Says Miller, “Just know that something inevitably will go wrong, and that might end up being your favorite part of the entire experience.â€? Â

Sox have lots of ‘ifs,’ big expectations Red Sox return in 2016 with enough pitching and hitting to do some damage.

Baseball is back.

The Red Sox will open the 2016 season Monday afternoon in Cleveland against the Indians where David Price will make his Red Sox debut. It was a busy offseason for the team with the Price signing, as well as additions in the bullpen in Craig Kimbrel and Carson Smith.

It was also an eventful spring training capped off with manager John Farrell announcing Travis Shaw will start at third base over Pablo Sandoval.

Here is a look at what to expect this season offensively and from the mound.

Offense Although the Red Sox

finished in last place in the AL East last season, the offense wasn’t the issue. In the American League the Red Sox were fourth in runs scored and fourth in average. They also will return almost everyone and their young players have another year of experience under their belts.

In the infield, Hanley Ramirez will likely have a better season than last year, especially if he stays healthy. Dustin Pedroia is hoping for a bounce back year after being plagued by injuries in 2015. Xander Bogaerts will continue to get better with age and the biggest thing for him is raising his home run total, as he had just seven last season.

Shaw will hope to build on his 13 home runs in 65 games last season, while Sandoval will hope to crack the starting lineup and improve on his .245 average last season.

In the outfield it appears Brock Holt and Chris Young will platoon

in left field, while Jackie Bradley Jr. and Mookie Betts will start in center and right field respectively. This leave Rusney Castillo coming off the bench, which is a bit surprising given he may be better off starting the

year in Triple-A to build confidence and possibly his trade value.

Pitching From the mound it starts with Price, who will obviously bolster the Red

Sox rotation, but there is reason for concern behind him. Eduardo Rodriguez will start the season on the disabled list. Clay Buchholz will be the No. 2 starter, but as always durability is a question with him. Joe Kelly will be the

third starter, but he was inconsistent last season and even was sent back to Triple-A at one point.

Rick Porcello and his $20 million a year contract will be the No. 4 starter as he hopes to come back strong after a difficult first year in Boston, while knuckleballer Steven Wright will be the fifth starter.

The bullpen will be much better than last year, but there is trouble to start the year as Smith will miss a few weeks with an elbow injury.

Kimbrel will take over the closer’s role and Koji Uehara will primarily work before Smith, but will likely be the setup man until Smith returns.

Matt Barnes, Robbie Ross Jr. and Noe Ramirez will be the middle relievers, all who gained valuable major league experience last year.

There’s a reason why there are black bars on both sides of your television screen for those. A good chunk of Brady’s career in the national spotlight was played in a non-HD world, of course.
