The United States’ first tax overhaul in decades may not pass Congress until well into 2017, House of Representatives Speaker Paul Ryan said on Wednesday, in a sign the timetable for the legislation has been pushed back. Revamping the U.S. tax code has become a new legislative test for President Donald Trump after a Republican push to repeal former President Barack Obama’s signature
healthcare law failed last month in a humiliating defeat for the party. Some Republicans in Congress had hoped to pass the tax overhaul before August, but party divisions over the legislation and difficulties in replacing Obamacare have slowed the process. REUTERS

Venezuelan security forces fired tear gas as demonstrators staged what they billed as the “mother of all marches” against President Nicolas Maduro on Wednesday, and a student caught up in a clash died after being shot in the head. Opposition supporters protested in Caracas and other cities, denouncing Maduro for eroding democracy and plunging the economy into chaos. Crowds
swelled to hundreds of thousands, including Maduro supporters who held a counter-demonstration in the capital at the urging of the president. Carlos Moreno, 18, a student, was on his way to play soccer in Caracas and did not plan to take part in the demonstration when government supporters approached an opposition gathering and fired shots, according to witnesses and a family member. AMAZON ROLLS OUT CHATBOT TOOLS

Amazon.com Inc.’s chief technology officer is working toward a day when people can control almost any piece of software with their voice. The company on Wednesday rolled out the technology powering Alexa, its voice assistant that competes with Apple Inc.’s Siri, to developers so they can build chat features into their own apps, CTO Werner Vogels said in an interview. The service, Amazon
Lex, was in a preview phase since late 2016. The move underscores how Amazon is racing to be the top player in voice-controlled computing, after losing out in mobile to Apple and Alphabet Inc.’s Google. Vogels said that Amazon’s headway in processing how humans write and speak would make conversational assistants or “chatbots” more helpful than the clunky tools they’ve been in the past. REUTERS

Aaron Hernandez’s suicide will have some dramatic legal ramifications — experts say the former NFL star’s murder conviction for the 2013 killing of Odin Lloyd will be vacated. Hernandez was found guilty of murdering Lloyd in 2015 and sentenced to life in prison. In Massachusetts, convictions of this kind are automatically appealed before the state’s highest court, but because Hernandez died before that appeal could go through, a littleknown legal loophole will get him off postmortem. “Whenever someone dies during an appeal of their criminal case, the conviction is eventually vacated. The reason for that is, the way the law looks at it, you had an appeal going for you and for all they know, the appeal could have found you innocent,” said Peter Elikann, a Boston criminal-defense lawyer. The “technicality,” as Elikann puts it, is called the Abatement Doctrine and allows prisoners to quite literally die to get away with murder. If a convicted murderer suffers an untimely death or commits suicide, as in Hernandez’s case, prior to exhausting their appeals, the conviction is automatically vacated. Hernandez isn’t the first high-profile murderer to have a conviction tossed due to the Abatement Doctrine. John Salvi, who was convicted of killing two abortion-clinic workers and wounding five others during a shooting spree
in Brookline in 1994, had his convictions vacated after killing himself in prison two years later. The Rev. John Geoghan, a Catholic priest convicted on child molestation charges and known as a key figure in the clergy sex-abuse scandal that mired the Boston Archdiocese, also had his convictions vacated after he was beaten to death in his cell in 2003 at the same Massachusetts maximum-security prison where Hernandez died Wednesday. But Elikann said the vacating of convictions isn’t looked upon as innocence. “Even though the conviction is vacated, it’s not really looked at as vindication — it’s a very narrow legal loophole,” he said. That doesn’t mean it won’t create problems for the family of Hernandez’s victim, Odin Lloyd, said David White, former president of the Massachusetts Bar Association. Lloyd’s family has filed a wrongful-death suit against Hernandez, and typically when there is a guilty verdict, a plaintiff can use that as evidence in a civil case — called collateral estoppel. Because the former Patriots player’s conviction will be vacated, the family will have to once again prove Hernandez was responsible for Lloyd’s death. “Now that the conviction will be vacated, the family of Odin Lloyd has lost their collateral-estoppel claim and they will have to start from scratch to prove he is guilty,” White said.

Hernandez death underscores state’s high prison-suicide rate A 2016 report showed that the state prison suicide rate was twice the national average.
Prison claims to have ‘constant’ supervision of inmates
KRISTIN TOUSSAINT
Aaron Hernandez’s apparent suicide cast a spotlight on the state’s troubled history when it comes to inmate suicides. The inmate suicide rate at Massachusetts state prisons is double the national rate, according to the Bureau of Judicial Statistics. The rate in Massachusetts is 32 suicides per 100,000 inmates, compared to the nationwide rate of 16 suicides per 100,000 inmates, according to a Bureau of Justice Statistics report released in December 2016. Between 2001 and 2014, 47 inmates in Massachusetts state prisons committed suicide, according to the report. Hernandez, a former

More common causes of death in Massachusetts state prisons were from illnesses such as cancer, heart disease and liver. The suicide rate in Massachusetts spiked from 2006 to 2007, prompting the Department of Correction to hire a consultant from the National Center on Institutions and Alternatives. Its subsequent report recommended “more suicide prevention training for staff members and more frequent checks for at-risk inmates,” according to the Patriot Ledger. Four years later in 2011, a follow-up report found that new suicideprevention training and other suggestions had been implemented.
The Massachusetts state prison where Aaron Hernandez was found hanged early Wednesday morning in his cell is a high-security facility with “maximum external and internal control and supervision of inmates,” according to the state website. So, what happened? So far, state officials have only said that the former New England Patriots star tight end and convicted murderer, was found hanging in his prison cell at the SouzaBaranowski Correctional Center in Shirley early Wednesday morning. The 27-year-old was pronounced dead at a
nearby hospital a short time later. “Mr. Hernandez hanged himself utilizing a bed sheet that he attached to his cell window,” the Massachusetts corrections commission said in a statement. “Mr. Hernandez also attempted to block his door from the inside by jamming the door with various items.” Hernandez, who had just been acquitted at trial on Friday of a separate double-homicide, was not on suicide watch, prison officials said. Saturday’s worldwide March for Science rallies will coincide with Earth Day, and that’s no coincidence. Organizers formed the March for Science political movement to counter President Donald Trump’s efforts to undo many environmental and climate regulations. The scientific community has increasingly found itself under fire, organizers say. So this year, instead of simply marking a day to celebrate the Earth, they will use the April 22 event to mix politics with activism. The March for Science will take place in Washington and in more than 500 locations across the globe, including Boston, New York and Philadelphia. The goal, organizers say, is a nonpartisan effort to shape new policies concerning science and education. In Boston, an academic and research hub, that sentiment has garnered strong support. “We join together to urge policy, educational,
and community leaders to put science at the forefront when making decisions, said Ashley Ciulla, a co-chairwoman of Boston’s Science March. Ciulla conducts research at Harvard Medical School and MIT’s Koch Institute
ISTOCK
for Integrative Cancer. “Boston is known as an innovative city where science and scientific research are paramount, and the enthusiasm and response to the March for Science have been inspiring. On the March for Science homepage, there is a sense of urgency behind the message: “In the face of an alarming
trend toward discrediting scientific consensus and restricting scientific discovery, we might ask instead: Can we afford not to speak out in its defense?â€? Still, some critics have urged against speaking out, believing that science “must be free of bias. It must be free of political passion,â€? as Joe Funderburk, an entomologist at the University of Florida, told The New York Times. But Michèle Lamont, a Harvard University professor and the president of the American Sociological Association, said the only opposition she’s personally heard is from scientists who want the event to be more political. The Boston March for Science starts at 1 p.m., at the Boston Common. Its Facebook event page had 20,000 people responded they would attend. The event will stay within the area of the Common and include a main rally with speakers, music performances and a “Kids Zone.â€?

Zarina, a single 30-something Harvard grad, is living at home when her father decides to intervene by signing her up for a dating site. While this sounds like the plot of a promising rom-com, Ayad Akhtar’s “The Who & The What” is not quite that. The Huntington Theatre’s latest production considers the modern and the traditional — of both religion and romance. The completion of Zarina’s book on women and Islam (also titled for the name of the play) forces her family, her father-picked suitor and herself to consider their relationship with the Muslim faith and its heritage in a contemporary-thinking society. We chat with Chicago-based actress Alia Peck, who plays Zarina in the M. Bevin O’Garadirected production, about her character’s self-actualization, the importance of representing modern Muslim society in the arts and why this play isn’t just another love story. At the top of the play, where do we find Zarina? She’s at a time where she’s not aware of what she’s even doing anymore. She’s been cooking and cleaning for her family, putting them before herself. I think the trauma of

her mother dying and a breakup with Ryan, her former partner of five years, put her in a place where she lacks identity. Through the whole play, you see Zarina slowly begin to rediscover herself; I think this play is a lot about self-actualization. Do you think she’s particularly looking for love at this point? Absolutely not, it’s not in her cards. Not anywhere in the vicinity. So should we consider the romantic relationship she develops and that whole story line to be the b-side story of the play? It comes very late in the play. Love is on the forefront and surprises her, but I think it’s more about how we’re constantly balancing and redefining the roles that love and faith and belief play in our lives. How does Zarina’s relationship with her father affect the changes happening in her life?
It became very clear to me that there’s an archetype of the new and old generation [in the relationship between Zarina and her father]. It’s a love and trust for the older generation, but then a desire to create something new. It’s a loving, charming relationship, and it’s palpable that there’s so much solidarity in this family. But you see over the course of the play that a whole slew of other feelings go along with claiming identity for the younger generation. I think for Americans, the universal thing is that we’ve taken ideas that we’ve inherited for our parents and our religious backgrounds, and researched and recreated them with the intent to carry them onto the next generation. It’s the evolution of thought and belief. Do you consider the depiction of a modern, devout Muslim family to be important to the arts? In my reading, the media often paints this general picture of Islam. [In this play] you can see the many different strengths and colors Americans come in who identify as Muslim. It gives a window into the history, stories and oral traditions of a religion that’s been distorted.

Call it paternal instinct, but America’s favorite TV dad Bob Saget feels like he needs to comfort audiences these days. While he won’t be handing out Danny Tanner-style hugs at his Saturday night show in Boston, the “Full House” icon does plan
to use his raunchy, “dirty daddy” stand-up persona to help fans find some joy amid the chaos of 2017. How pumped are you to be coming back to Boston? Boston is one of my favorite cities that exists.

I kind of always toyed with the idea of moving there, but I never did just because I’m a kind of a wuss when it comes to weather. Do you feel any obligation as a comic to give people a brief rest from the constant cycle of awful news? Every comedian I’ve talked to, from Marc Maron to Bill Burr, they also feel the same way, which is, “I need to do this right now. The people need me right now.” It’s more the Superman mentality of trying to save Gotham from all the evil rhetoric that we hear. Before talking to you, I needed to look at CNN because I wanted to find out if anything happened. That’s the life we’re in right now. Our life is you wake up and you want to see if something happened in the middle of the night. Did you learn any big lessons from Don Rickles? He had a way of treating everyone kindly and graciously. And the insult was because he knew who he was. He found out that was his

hook, say something mean to somebody. But it wasn’t mean in the way that people are mean now. And Don treated people with great dignity. I’m going to miss him forever. I’ve taken it pretty hard. He was really like a second dad to me. Between your stand-up and acting on “Fuller House,” you seem to be enjoying your work more than ever these days. I did a “Fuller House” last week, and it’s crazy. I had the best time. I don’t understand what’s happening to my life right now. I loved doing it. They wrote a really great script and everybody’s like, “Why wasn’t Bob like this 30 years ago?” There’s no complaining. I think I’ve just grown up and there’s just more a collaborative feeling to everything.

It’s a great date idea. Or, if you’re single … Wine Riot is both drinking and an activity — it’s the best date you could possibly ask for. “And if no one’s dancing, I just might have to start that,” Tesauro says. One of the joys of Wine Riot, he confessed, is tracking the #WineRiot hashtag on Instgram and “watching the cliques form and the romances that spin off when people connect over wine. The next think you know, they’re at Alden & Harlow making out.”
The Bubbly Bar Yes, you read it right — free-flowing champagne. “It’s the dynamic hub of it all,” says Tesauro. “Yes, you’re going to walk around the room, but if you want to fill your cup, enjoy the energy and get belly-up to the bar with a bunch of laughing strangers, go to the bar and get champagne.”

From talks with “potrepreneurs” to parents getting ahold of medical marijuana to treat their child’s cancer, to people who’ve served lengthy prison sentences for marijuana possession, the documentary series is well-researched, intelligent and human. Its host, Krishna Andavolu, reveals that the show started out as a web series on Vice.com and bloomed into a TV show after a conversation with Viceland’s co-president, Spike Jonze. “I was telling him about how in the web series, I went to Uruguay to interview the president because they legalized

One of the episodes investigates the distribution of marijuana from a legal market to an illegal market. “In places like California, it’s totally legal and production is sky-high there, but as a result, more pot is flowing into the black market and being shipped across country to [places like] New York. We follow a shipment of illegal weed from California to New York,” he says. “It’s an all-American road trip, just with 45 pounds of pot in the car.” Just for the record, Andavolu isn’t actually in the vehicle for the trip. “Legal wouldn’t allow me to do that,” he says. Review: How not to be a ‘Girlboss’ The Netflix series really does a disservice to the book. JENNIFER LOGUE
In 2014, Nasty Gal founder Sophia Amoruso released her best-selling book, “Girlboss, inspiring a generation of women to be the bosses of
their own lives and make their dreams a reality. On Friday, Netflix brings the book to life as a series that is described as a “loose re-
telling of true events. Written by Kay Cannon of “Pitch Perfect fame, it stars Britt Robertson as a caricatured version of Amoruso finding her
way to business success and adulthood in San Francisco. From the start, the character Sophia is pretty intolerable — prone to
public outbursts, firings from jobs, eating out of dumpsters and shoplifting like it’s NBD despite her wealthy parents begging her to move home.

as borderline sociopathic and spoiled. Robertson’s portrayal is so over the top that it’s just not believable. Cannon notes that she is “proud of the message the show is sending” and hopes that it will “empower and inspire women.” Sadly, the show not only does a disservice to women, but to the book. By making Sophia Amoruso into a cartoon character, you delegitimize her success. It’s awfully entertaining to watch (if you can get past wincing every five seconds), but how can you be inspired by someone you can’t relate to as a human being?
When asked about how the show is different from the book, Cannon
Road rage seems to be all the rage in this series.
responds: “That was the real challenge — to make it funny and to dramatize things.
There’s a lot of fabricating that went on.” Amoruso says “the series is Kay’s creation” and she had to “have a lot of trust” to put her life and career into the show. And for the record, “her mom is totally not like that.” (We’ll find out what that means in episode 10, apparently.) What I can’t understand is how the original “girlboss” allowed her story to be morphed into an awkward, superficial comedy? With the real Nasty Gal filing for bankruptcy back in November of 2016, perhaps Amoruso is cool with anything these days — as long as the price is right.

Odyssey Cruises Chicago will give you a new perspective on the Windy City.
Denver has a thriving arts scene.
VISIT DENVER
The last fling
We’ve got the getaways to make your bachelorette-party weekend one to treasure almost as much as your big day.
Rounding up the bridal party for an out-of-town bachelorette fête is no easy task. Thankfully, there are plenty of chill destinations in the U.S. offering direct flights, tons of bars in a walkable district, cool hotels and yummy brunches.
Denver There are all kinds of highs going on in Colorado’s Mile High city. Take My 420 Tours’ twohour tutorial in rolling sushi and joints (remember, Colorado’s legal), and extend that high with Twisted Sister Yoga’s Friday-night Ganja Yoga Class. The nearby Art, a Hotel boasts a rooftop bar and eatery with a decadent weekend brunch (cue beignets and bottomless mimosas). Suss out Denver’s craft brews with Denver Microbrew Tour.
Palm Springs Spread out by the pool at the Sparrows Lodge, with a restaurant carved into a barn and plenty of fire pits for roasting s’mores. Whether you like design or drinking, downtown Palm Springs has both, including boozy all-day breakfast (like lychee mimosas) and a bacon bar until 2 p.m. at Cheeky’s and Toucans Tiki Lounge for drag shows and fruity drinks.
Austin Tacos and tunes are the main draws in Austin. And don’t knock the chain hotels, because inside the recently renovated Hilton Austin downtown is Austin Taco Project, with sweets like churros and strawberry tacos. One block away is bustling Sixth
Street (tons of bars — the better ones are on East instead of West), or skip the tourists and college kids and head to the venues of Red River Street. When you’ve had enough of the city life, go swimming in Austin’s many watering holes, such as Barton Springs.
Charleston King Street’s cobblestones are cute, but foodies and cocktail snobs love to duck into the many restaurants and bars, from Callie’s wildly popular biscuits (Oprah loves ’em, too) to The Darling Oyster Bar, which opened last year (yes, there’s brunch, with hush puppies). The Vendue is your reasonably priced upscale option. And don’t poke fun at those cheesy carriage rides: Everything’s fun with the girls!
Chicago These days, all the cool bars and restaurants are popping up in the River North district. ACME Hotel’s rates hover just under $200, with the three Bs all under one roof (bakery, bodega and bar). Korean-fused tacos at the ’hood’s year-old Seoul Taco fuels you up for a bar crawl, including a spot at the new spythemed Safe House. Take the gals on an Odyssey brunch cruise with an onboard DJ.
Miami Yesterday’s trend was SoBe — now it’s downtown Miami, where boutique hotels like The Langford (cool pool) and ME Miami (the rooftop Pawn Broker is very glam) opened in the last two years. Dance all night
at downtown clubs like Heart and The Hangar. At sun-up, tour the graffiti walls and murals of the Wynwood Art District.
Nashville Downtown Nashville’s gone haute with a new slew of bars, restaurants and boutique hotels. Avoid a rental car by checking into the new and hip SoBro Guest House. A few blocks away, Tootsie’s Orchid Lounge is a must for its honky-tonk music, but check out Bastion in Houston Station for classic cocktails and punches.
New Orleans One of Crescent City’s newest hotels — The Old No. 77 Hotel & Chandlery — has an artsy-urban vibe. Also in the hip Warehouse Arts neighborhood

are spots for sushi (Rock ’n Sake Bar) and charcuterie (Cochon), and the French Quarter is a mile on foot, with its darling jazz clubs and brunch haunts (SoBou).
Atlantic City Jersey’s gaming hub is experiencing a renaissance with revamped hotels, new restaurants and fun bars. Last fall, Harrah’s Resort Atlantic City embarked on a $30 million makeover of its Bayview Tower rooms, set to wrap up by June 1, and the buzzworthy restaurant this spring will be Angeline by Michael Symon, inside Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa. It’s set to open May 1. After dinner, throw back some tequila at the hotel’s Gypsy Bar, which hosts live bands on occasion.

What all-inclusive resorts are doing to attract millennials and shed their baby boomer image. RACHEL RACZKA
When you leave the arrivals gates at Sangster International Airport in Jamaica, to your immediate left is a wood-paneled porch featuring the Sandals Resorts International logo. Moms and dads in tropical-print shirts hang by the front door, cocktails in hand, waiting for their transport to the ubiquitous all-inclusive resort, about a 15-minute drive away. This is what we often picture when we think of all-inclusive resorts: post-retirement parental units in sensible swimwear with a strong rum drink, protected from the booze-fueled ruckus of spring breakers, free to do the conga and ask for seconds at the buffet at all hours — because heck, you’re on vacation! Not shockingly, this is not appealing to many millennials. While experts predicted that the all-inclusive industry would see a rise in business come 2017, consider this: What are the resorts doing to appeal to the nonboomer traveler? In shedding the polarizing label of “budget travel,” all-inclusive resorts are changing up their offerings to be as appealing and accommodating to 20-somethings as they are to families of four. They’re ramping up their luxury amenities, exclusivity, and, yes, even their cool factor.
They’re getting you off campus
excitement of off-thebeaten-path travel.
A big concern for some young travelers is expecting an all-inclusive to have a similar vibe to a cruise ship: There’s no reason to ever leave during the duration of your trip — and in some instances, you just plain can’t. At the Moon Palace Jamaica Grande, which sits along the largest private strip of white sand beach in Ocho Rios, guests are encouraged to explore the neighboring sights. Excursions like horseback riding through Papillion Cove and

The resort’s all-day dining concept will be accompanied by beachside pop-ups like a paletas stand or handdelivered oyster and mezcal shots. At Moon Palace, the premium dining experience includes the recent addition of certified Angus beef throughout its culinary program, which varies from hibachi to 24-hour room service — 2 a.m. craving for jerk chicken? Also on site is the Parisianinspired Boulangerie, where latte art and pristinely made sweets are served through the night.

Moon Palace is, as the name suggests, palatial, but it also wants you to feel at ease. The signature scent pumped through the hotel immediately registers as Le Labo’s unmistakably cool fragrance, Santal 33. (It’s not — the team calls it a mixture of aromatherapies, but it’s damn close.) And especially important to the brandconscious set, gone are the generic dopp kits (each room comes with a CHI straightener, plus heat-protectant products to save your hair from all those pool and ocean dips) and minibars for sensible boozing with four full-size top shelf bottles, refilled daily.

Jimmy Butler and the Bulls have owned the Celtics through two games in the best-of-seven first round series. GETTY IMAGES
THE CELTICS’ SEASON SIMPLY CAN’T END LIKE THIS OPINION
DANNY PICARD @dannypicard
It can’t end like this. I’m sorry, it just can’t. To win 53 games and earn the No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference, only to lose the first two games of the playoffs in your own building is quite embarrassing. But that’s where the Boston Celtics currently stand, down 0-2 in their first round series with the No. 8 seed Chicago Bulls. The word “embarrassing” certainly sums it up, as they now travel to Chicago for Games 3 and 4 on Friday and Sunday. And while there are other factors at play —
including the sudden and tragic death of Isaiah Thomas’ sister the day before Game 1 -— the biggest reason the Celtics are trailing this series the way they are, is because the Bulls have been the better team. And while, on paper, Chicago’s roster reads to be better than a No. 8 seed that finished the regular season with 41 wins, the Celtics being the worse team through two games in this series says more about the Celtics than it does the Bulls. Once you get past the stars — Thomas for Boston, and Jimmy Butler for Chicago —- the rest of the Celtics’ roster has been a disgrace to No. 1 seeds everywhere. From a lack of secondary scoring, to pathetic rebounding, to questionable effort levels,
I’m not seeing a Bulls team that’s dominating, as much as I’m witnessing a Celtics team that just doesn’t want it bad enough. That said, it is difficult to ignore the emotional impact that Thomas’ sister’s death had on the team. But at the same time, Thomas did score a game-high 33 points while playing 38 minutes in a 106-102 Game 1 loss at the TD Garden. So if he can show up to play with a heavy heart, so can everyone else. The Celtics clearly need better rebounding and another go-to scorer. I’ve felt strongly about the latter all-season-long. I wanted a Butler trade at the deadline, but Danny Ainge refused to pull the trigger. And while I had a feeling that would come
back to haunt them at some point, I didn’t think it would be in the first round against the Bulls. Still, the lack of another go-to elite scorer shouldn’t be the reason the Celtics are eliminated early. The rest of their roster is talented enough where they should be able to win this series, against this Bulls team. They just aren’t playing like they want that to be the case. The Celtics are getting pushed around and outhustled. It’s something we’re not used to seeing from this group. Which is why it can’t end like this. It just can’t. Having lost homecourt advantage and being down 0-2 isn’t the recipe for a successful seven-game series. But even if the Bulls do find a

way to win two more before the C’s can win four, I find it hard to believe this Celtics team is just going to roll over without winning a couple games and making it interesting, at the very least. Games 1 and 2 were tough to watch, for sure. And social-media warriors in Boston already moved on to the NBA draft by
halftime of Game 2. But I’m having a tough time believing this is how the season is actually going to end for the C’s. Based on what I know about the Bulls this season, they haven’t done a very good job at battling adversity. If the Celtics show up to play in Game 3, they’ll make the Bulls do just that. Win the next one, and it’s a series. Knowing what this Celtics team is capable of, I’m willing to put my money on that. Because it just can’t end like this. The Patriots presented Donald Trump, the 45th president of the United States, with a No. 45 jersey on Wednesday in Washington, D.C. GETTY IMAGES
The most bizarre of days for Patriots On the day one of their former stars died, the Patriots met with Donald Trump at the White House. MATT BURKE
Tom Brady was not present for Wednesday’s celebration of the Super Bowl champion Patriots at the White House with President Donald Trump. Brady said that he was dealing with “personal matters.” “Thank you to the president for hosting this honorary celebration and for supporting our team for as long as I can remember,” Brady said in a statement. “In light of some recent developments, I am unable to attend [Wednesday’s] ceremony, as I am attending to some personal family matters.” Brady did not go into
specifics, but it is thought to be related to his mother — who is battling cancer. Trump did not mention Brady during his speech to Patriots players. It’s highly unlikely that Brady’s absence has anything to do with his relationship with former teammate Aaron Hernandez, who is said to have committed suicide Wednesday morning in his prison cell in Shirley. Brady has not acknowledged Hernandez publicly since June of 2013, when Hernandez was initially arrested. According to Hernandez, of all the Patriots’ teammates he had — he was closest with Brady. “The closest I was with was probably Brady and whom I love to death and always will and only hope the best for [him],” Hernandez wrote in a December 2015 letter to a female pen pal
(letter obtained by TMZ Sports). “But [I] was cool with Julez, Branch [I f--cked with and got mad love for] and ‘the BEST TE ever to walk on a football field’ Gronk!” Hernandez shredded
