REPUBLICANS SHORT TRUMP URGES FUTURE GOVERNMENT SHUTDOWN OF HEALTH CARE VOTES
TRUMP, PUTIN DISCUSS SYRIA CEASEFIRE IN CALL

President Donald Trump came to office promising that he would produce so much winning that Americans would be sick of it. As he struggles to produce wins, some signs of frustration are starting to appear. Democrats’ gleeful declarations that they outsmarted Republicans in a battle over a spending bill that avoided a government shutdown drew the ire of the president. Democrats were happy
that funding for Trump’s Mexico border wall was not included. Trump tweeted on Tuesday that maybe a government shutdown would not be so bad and that Republicans should consider changing Senate rules to make it easier to pass spending and other bills without any Democratic support. REUTERS

Republicans in the House of Representatives said they were closer to agreeing on a reworked bill to overhaul the nation’s healthcare system but still lacked the votes to pass it, as President Trump pressed lawmakers for a vote. The White House has been pressuring House Republicans to push ahead with legislation to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act, after a first effort failed
in March in a major setback for the Trump administration. “I think it’s time now” for a healthcare vote, Trump told lawmakers at the White House on Tuesday. But Republican leaders, including House Speaker Paul Ryan, are once again struggling to balance the concerns of moderates, who want to protect Americans with pre-existing medical conditions, with the reluctance of conservatives to make changes. US LAWMAKERS EYE AIRLINE LEGISLATION
5
Angry U.S. lawmakers threatened United Airlines and other carriers with legislation to force improvements as they expressed disgust after a passenger was dragged off an overbooked flight last month. At a tense House of Representatives hearing where executives defended airline policies, one lawmaker threw up his hands in frustration over the problems flyers routinely face,
including complicated booking systems, confusing fees, long waits and unexplained flight delays. “We all know it’s a terrible experience,” said Rep. Michael Capuano, a Democrat from Massachusetts. “Some charge fees for baggage, some charge fees for oxygen, who knows?” The hearing could serve as a test of how the Republican-led Congress would respond to rising consumer anger. President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin on Tuesday moved to ease the tension from U.S. airstrikes in April against Russian ally Syria, expressing a desire for a Syrian ceasefire and safe zones for the civil war’s refugees. The two leaders spoke by phone for the first time since U.S. relations with Russian were strained by the U.S. attack on a Syrian airfield. They two leaders
set the foundation for what could be their first face-to-face meeting in July. Statements from both the White House and the Kremlin suggested the two leaders had a productive conversation that included North Korea and fighting Islamist militants throughout the Middle East. REUTERS

New York prepares itself for Trump’s first visit as president Anti-Trump activists are planning loud protests to mark the native son’s return.
New York is bracing for President Donald Trump’s first trip back to his hometown since taking office in January in a Thursday visit that is expected to draw protests and snarl traffic in the United States’ most populous city. The trip could mark a repeat of the chaotic months between the real estate developer’s Nov. 8 election and Jan. 20 swearing-in, when crowds of protesters and admirers flocked outside his home in the gold-metal-clad Trump Tower on Fifth Avenue. The early days of the Trump administration have brought aggressive rhetoric and moves to crack down on immigration as well as roll back environmental regulations, much of which has ruffled feathers in the liberal northeastern city. “A very hot welcome is being planned for Mr. Trump, said Alexis Dan-
zig, a member of Rise and Resist, an informal group of activists that formed as Trump came to power. “We’ll be out in full force to voice our grievances. Trump’s business dealings and romantic fallouts were constant city tabloid fodder in the 1980s and 1990s. His television show, “The Apprentice, broadcast Trump to the world as
“We’ll be out in full force to voice our grievances. Alexis Danzig
the ultimate Big Apple deal-maker during the 2000s. While the Trump brand is internationally associated with New York, fewer than one in five city residents voted for him. Mayor Bill de Blasio and Gov. Andrew Cuomo, both Democrats, have said his stance on immigrants has put him at odds with a city where nearly a third
of residents are foreignborn. Protesters plan to gather Thursday near the Intrepid Sea, Air and Space Museum, a decommissioned aircraft carrier where Trump and Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull are to have their first in-person meeting. One of the pair’s last exchanges was an acrimonious phone call in January. New York police declined to provide details of their preparations for Trump’s tour and the protests planned around it. One lingering issue from the transition period, that of the costs of protecting the presidentelect’s building, was resolved earlier this week in a proposed federal budget including $61 million to reimburse New York and other local governments for providing Trump-related security. “That’s good news for our city and the hardworking police officers faced with this unprecedented security challenge, de Blasio said in a statement. High cuisine: Cannabis oil-infused ‘dankquet’ is a true gourmet experience Catch a legal high while teasing your tastebuds with a CBD-laced meal. KIMBERLY M. AQUILINA @KimESTAqui kimberly.aquilina@metro.us
As marijuana worms its way into the sphere of accepted adult activity, weed-related food products are increasingly becoming a subject of legitimate epicurean exploration. Just ask chef Oscar Toro, executive chef and partner at Jue Lan Club in Manhattan. He doesn’t smoke marijuana — but he recently put his chef’s cap on to prepare a cannabis oil-infused four-course gourmet “dankquet” on 4/20 at members-only club NSFW. “My mother, since I was a kid, has had
migraines all her life, like every day,” Toro explained. Taking medicinal herbs alleviated his mom’s pain, and Toro thought, “Let me take a second approach to this, even though I don’t smoke.” Fans of food prepared with cannabidiol, or CBD oil, said it gives them a different experience than normal marijuana edibles. “When you eat a weed brownie, you don’t really want a brownie, it’s there to serve a purpose,” said “dankquet” guest Jing, from Manhattan’s Upper West Side. “But this — you get the enjoyment of knowing you’re going to get high, but there is a whole other level of enjoyment where you get to eat this really great food.” Cannabidiol is nonpsychoactive and doesn’t cause the same

high as regular THC products or marijuana. But it does cause a state of relaxation many users equate with feeling “high.”

The “dankquet” scene at the clubhouse in Williamsburg was intimate on April 20 (my birthday and the stoner holiday), with guests
lounging on pillows around a mirrored table, the NSFW signature red light and Moroccan-style drapes. Guests ate family-
style, some opting for fingers while others, like me, were fed by other people from forks. The CBD dose tapered off as each course was introduced; the effects of the first course crept up on those snacking on the dishes, so everyone was euphorically high just before dessert. A weed-aficionado and marketer for “sinfluencers,” NSFW’s “chief conspirator” Daniel Saynt said that the most important thing about NSFW is education. From how to participate in BDSM without a trip to the emergency room to enjoying cannabis, people “need an educated experience.” It was tough to only eat one piece of the dessert: a ricotta cheese cake with burnt orange, crystallized ginger and blueberries … and yes, CBD.

Privacy group sues NYPD for release of facialrecognition documents One estimate says that more than 400 million facial pictures were stored in police databases. A privacy group sued the New York Police Department on Tuesday to demand the release of documents related to its use of facial-recognition technology, which rights groups have criticized as discriminatory and lacking in proper oversight. The lawsuit is the latest attempt to compel U.S. law enforcement agencies to disclose more about how they rely on searchable facial-recognition databases in criminal investigations. The NYPD has previously produced one document in response to a January 2016 freedom of information request, despite evidence it has frequently used an advanced face-recognition system for more than five years, according to the Center for Privacy & Technology at Georgetown University law school, which filed the suit in New York state court. “The department’s claim that it cannot find any records about its use of the technology is deeply troubling,” said David Vladeck, the privacy group’s faculty director. He added that an absence of responsive documents, such as contract and purchasing documents, training materials or audits, would be an indication the police force did not possess controls governing its use of facial-recognition software. The NYPD could not be immediately reached
for comment on the suit. Facial-recognition databases are used by police to help identify possible criminal suspects. They typically work by conducting searches of vast troves of known images, such as mug shots, and algorithmically comparing them with other images, such as those taken from a store’s surveillance cameras, that capture an unidentified person believed to be committing a crime. But the technology has come under increased scrutiny in recent years amid fears that it may lack accuracy, lead to false positives and perpetuate racial bias. Democratic and Republican lawmakers expressed consternation at the secrecy surrounding facial-recognition technology during a U.S. House Oversight Committee hearing in March. The Center for Privacy & Technology released a report last year concluding half of America’s adults have their images stored in at least one searchable facial-recognition database used by local, state and federal authorities. The study, titled “Perpetual Line-Up,” found that states rely on mug shots, driver’s license photos or both in assembling their databases, and that images are often shared with the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The U.S. Government Accountability Office estimated last year that more than 400 million facial pictures of Americans were stored in databases kept by law enforcement agencies. REUTERS

“Helps the worst cases of back pain with the most advanced,
Havard Doctor Offers World-Class Back Pain Popular NYC Pain MD Clinic Swarmed With Back Pain Sufferers NYC - Let’s be honest. Medical insurance stinks. And unless you are rich, it is probably keeping you from getting the best possible care for your back or neck pain. Seriously. Isn’t it bad enough back pain is destroying your life… but you also have to deal with insurance companies telling you what doctors you can go to… what treatments you can get… and then denying everything and sticking you with the bill. Am I right? And you’ve already tried all the pain medications, therapies and probably more than one doctor. How did all that work out for you? Still in pain? Frustrated and fed up? I bet you are. And how about this: Do you really think you are getting the most advanced, cutting-edge treatments? I’ll go out on a limb and say… probably not. Everyone knows the newest and most advanced treatments are not paid for by insurance because they are labeled “experimental.” And there is not enough “proof.” Yet… But there ARE some people who get the best treatments. And reap the benefits you and all the other “average Joe’s” never get. Who are these lucky people? The rich and famous (and top pro athletes) go to the best doctors and get the best treatments money can buy.
Why? Because they can afford the enormous price tag most top doctors and medical clinics charge. Clearly this is not “fair” and no one is looking out for YOU. Until now… Now YOU can be treated by a Harvard trained doctor AND get the most advanced, cuttingedge treatments for back pain… at a fraction of the price other exclusive medical clinics are charging. It’s true. Here is how… NYC Pain MD is a state-ofthe-art medical clinic with two locations in New York City that are swarmed with back pain sufferers… because they offer two things every back pain suffers wants… (1) The best possible care form world-class medical doctors (2) at a price almost anyone can afford. Who is this Harvard Trained doctor and how can he help YOU? His name is Dr. Michael Nguyen... and he is Harvard trained and Board Certified Pain Management. At Harvard, Dr. Nguyen management and diagnosing received the prestigious and treating even the most “Fellow of the Year” award, severe cases of back pain. “Outstanding Teacher of the It is not uncommon for back Year and “Mentor of the Year.” pain sufferers to come to NYC Dr. Nguyen’s work has been Pain MD after many other featured on television and print. treatments have failed and after What does all this mean for suffering for years in pain. you and your back pain? There are many things Dr. He is a specialist in pain Nguyen has learned over the
years to “fine tune” treatments and get the best possible results. Plus, NYC Pain MD is a multi-disciplinary clinic offering the best medical treatments available. cutting-edge technology and treatments available...”
Treatments At Prices Almost Anyone Can Afford Hoping To Relieve Their Pain And Get Their Lives Back Back Pain” and addresses all the possible causes of back pain… including: MUSCLE, JOINT, DISC and CHEMICAL. Treatment programs usually include a combination of the most advanced, cutting-edge treatments. Treatments can include: Ñ Stem Cell Therapy Ñ Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) Ñ Radiofrequency Pain Block (RF) Ñ Selective Nerve Blocks Ñ And more The doctors at NYC Pain MD have found the results are much better when multiple approaches are used together. And the best part is: All treatments for ALL the areas of the spine and joints (like knees, shoulder and hips... even ankles) are done right in our office’s procedure suites. There is no surgical center or hospital necessary. You do not need to be referred out and spend your whole day traveling to multiple clinics. And this will save you a lot of time ... and money. But the most important part is: the results. Now I’m going to be totally honest with you. Even though you will be seeing a world class doctor educated at Harvard… who is trained and skilled at the best back pain elimination techniques available today… this is NOT a miracle cure for everyone. In fact, not everyone will eliminate their pain.
There are no guarantees in medicine. And no ethical doctor would ever make such a claim. But we can say with all honesty, that we do help the majority of back pain sufferers we see. Imagine if you could be out of pain in a few days or even a few hours? What would that be worth to you? And what would it be worth to you if you could finally greatly reduce or even eliminate your back. neck pain… for good? How would it feel to be able to go to bed… sleep through the night… and wake up… without pain. And wouldn’t it be wonderful to be able to cancel that surgery, stop taking pain pills… and… go back to doing all the things you love to do but couldn’t because of the pain? It’s amazing how many doors can open up, opportunities arrive… and… how much FUN life can be… when you are no longer suffering in pain. And some patients DO get immediate… almost overnight results. Can you imagine if that was you? That’s probably something you would want to look into and possibly give a try… right? If so… I’ve got great news. Even though Dr. Nguyen and these wonderful treatments has helped a majority of back pain patients he has treated… sadly… it does not help everyone and you have probably been through countless treatments and don’t want to waste your time on another dead end.
For that reason, Dr. Nguyen and staff perform a complete screening on every potential patient and will only accept you if he feels you qualify for his treatments and are very likely to get the results you are looking for. How to find out more At NO cost and NO obligation Every month Dr. Nguyen offers a very limited number of free screenings. At this screening, you get to see if these advanced treatments can help you… and get to ask questions etc. This is a great way to find out if you qualify for treatments without wasting your time or your money. Obviously, due to time limitations, Dr. Nguyen cannot evaluate everyone who wants to see him. For that reasons, he must limit the number of free screenings he offers each month. So, if you are interested, the best thing to do is call 800- 865-8026 right now and tell the scheduling coordinator you would like the free back pain screening. They will know what this is all about and schedule you for the soonest time available. The quicker you call… the quicker you get to see Dr. Nguyen… and the quicker you may be out of pain. It makes no sense to suffer one more day in pain when you don’t have to. And there is no additional obligation. You come in for the screening… see if you qualify… get your questions answered… and you decide how to proceed.
This is NOT a sales presentation! In fact, just the opposite. Dr. Nguyen is a Harvard-trained specialist. He will give you the information you’re looking for and tell you ... honestly… if he thinks he can help you. Oh yes… the cost of treatments. The screening is 100% at no cost. Treatments vary and it depends on what you need. But NYC Pain MD is specifically designed to give patients world-class medical care at the best possible price. We know insurance can really stink. If you have it… and it covers treatment… great. If not… we have options that are affordable by almost anyone. In fact, we charge a fraction of what other NYC clinics charge for breakthrough treatments like Lipogems Stem cell therapy, Platelet rich plasma, spine and joint radio frequency nerve blocks and others. Obviously, you won’t be getting a $10,000 bill from us. Not even close. Everything will be explained to you at the screening and you will leave know exactly what to expect and what it all costs. To schedule a free screening at NYC Pain MD with Dr. Nguyen call 800-865-8026 right now.

Report: NSA collected phone records despite law change The NSA has been gathering a vast quantity of telephone “metadata, records of callers’ and recipients’ phone numbers and the times and durations of the calls — but not their content — since the September 11, 2001, attacks. The U.S. National Security Agency collected more than 151 million records of Americans’ phone calls last year, even after Congress limited its ability to collect bulk phone records, according to an annual report issued on Tuesday by the top U.S. intelligence officer.

The report from the office of Director of National Intelligence Dan Coats was the first measure of the effects of the 2015 USA Freedom Act, which limited the NSA to collecting phone records and contacts of people U.S. and allied intelligence agencies suspect may have ties to terrorism. It found that the NSA collected the 151 million records even though it had warrants from the secret Foreign Intelligence Surveillance court to spy on only 42 terrorism suspects in 2016, in addition to a handful identified the previous year. The report came as Congress faced a decision on whether to reauthorize Section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA), which permits the NSA to collect foreign intelligence information on non-U.S. persons outside the United States, and is scheduled to expire at the end of this year. Privacy advocates have argued that Section 702 permits the NSA to spy on Internet and telephone communications of Americans without warrants from the secret Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court, and that foreign intelligence could be used for domestic law enforcement purposes in a way that evades traditional legal
requirements. The report said that on one occasion in 2016, the FBI obtained information about an American in response to a search of Section 702 data intended to produce evidence of a crime not related to foreign intelligence. The report did not address how frequently the FBI obtained information about Americans while investigating a foreign intelligence matter, however. On Friday, the NSA said it had stopped a form of surveillance that allowed it to collect the digital communications of Americans who mentioned a foreign intelligence target in their messages without a warrant. The new report also came amid allegations, recently repeated by U.S. President Donald Trump, that former President Barack Obama ordered warrantless surveillance of his communications and that former national security adviser Susan Rice asked the NSA to unmask the names of U.S. persons caught in the surveillance. Both Republican and Democratic members of the congressional intelligence committees have said that so far they have found no evidence to support either allegation. REUTERS

Clinton says Comey’s letter, Russian hackers cost her the election She also said she supported the recent missile strikes ordered by Trump in Syria but was unsure if they would make a difference. Hillary Clinton said on Tuesday she was on the path to victory in the 2016 presidential election until late interference by Russian hackers and FBI Director James Comey scared off some potential supporters. In her most extensive public comments on the Nov. 8 election, Clinton told a New York conference she was derailed by Comey’s Oct. 28 letter informing Congress the Federal Bureau of Investigation had reopened a probe of her use of a private email server and by the WikiLeaks release of campaign chairman John Podesta’s emails, allegedly stolen by Russian hackers. “If the election had been on October 27, I would be your president,” she told a women’s conference moderated by CNN’s Christiane Amanpour. “It wasn’t a perfect campaign, but I was on the way to winning until a combination of Comey’s letter and Russian WikiLeaks,” the Democrat said of the loss to Republican Donald Trump. “The reason why I believe we lost were the intervening events in the last 10 days.” Clinton, who said she is going through the “pain-

ful process” of writing a book dealing in part with the election, also said misogyny played a role in her defeat. Becoming the first woman U.S. president would have been “a really big deal,” she said. Clinton took personal responsibility for the campaign’s mistakes, but did not question her strategy or her staff. “I was the candidate, I was the person who was on the ballot. I am very aware of the challenges, the problems, the shortfalls that we had,” Clinton said. She said she had no
doubt that Russian President Vladimir Putin tried to influence the election for Trump, and bluntly criticized the new U.S. president for some of his foreign policy views and for tweeting too much. “I’m back to being an activist citizen — and part of the resistance,” she said. Clinton said broader negotiations involving China and other countries in the region were critical for convincing North Korea to rein in its nuclear program. She questioned Trump’s recent suggestion he would be willing to meet with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un under the right circumstances. “You should not offer that in the absence of a broader strategic framework to try to get China, Japan, Russia, South Korea, to put the kind of pressure on the regime that will finally bring them to the negotiating table,” Clinton said. US air-traffic revamp is overdue for boarding U.S. air-traffic control badly needs first-class treatment. Donald Trump’s administration wants to privatize the organization that coordinates flights and manages often antiquated systems. The Federal Aviation Administration, currently in charge, has faced obstacles in trying to upgrade its 1940s-era technology, a project estimated to cost about $35 billion. Canada pioneered a self-funding, stakeholder-governed model. A similar approach could work for the more complex American system if carriers, politicians and the like can dump their baggage. In most ATC operations across the United States, flight patterns are still organized on paper strips and passed by hand from one controller to another. The old-school radar used to mark planes with dots on screens can

be off by as much as three miles. There were nearly 40 million flight movements in the United States in 2015, according to the FAA. Of the much smaller number of commercial flights, over 80 percent arrive on time, according to the U.S. Bureau of Transportation Statistics, but that’s still a lot of delays. Though the FAA is gradually upgrading its technology, almost a quarter of the late arrivals are attributed to air-traffic control — and
that doesn’t include latearriving aircraft, some of which may be delayed by ATC, as well. Those advocating for a new system — including airlines as well as the administration — say that the GPS capabilities of cell phones are more sophisticated than the technology that organizes U.S. air traffic. An overhaul has been proposed multiple times since the 1990s, but policy and funding have been at the mercy of a dysfunctional Congress. The FAA was partly shut down in 2011 because of political budget squabbles, and in 2013 more than 15,000 employees, including 3,000 safety inspectors, were temporarily put on leave. Right now, Washington will probably rely once more on short-term budget extensions, and without a longer-term deal something similar could happen again. REUTERS

World’s ‘oldest person’ dies in Indonesia at 146 An Indonesian man reported to be the world’s oldest person died at the age of 146 this week, family members said on Tuesday. Sodimejo, who was known locally as Mbah Gotho, was born in December 1870, according to a government-issued ID card that media reports said had been verified by local officials in the Central Java town of Sragen. Indonesian media reported that Sodimejo was the world’s oldest person, citing his identity papers. Reuters could not independently verify Sodimejo’s age. Sodimejo’s grandson said he had been taken
to hospital last week because of his deteriorating health. “The problem was he didn’t want to eat or drink, said grandson Suryanto, who, like his grandfather, goes by one name. He then insisted on being brought home, and died several days later, Suryanto said. Sodimejo was buried on Monday morning in a local cemetery. According to Guinness World Records, Jeanne Calment, a French woman, had the longest confirmed human lifespan. She died in 1997 at the age of 122. REUTERS

Ben Affleck moved when you weren’t looking Ben Affleck was reported to have moved out of his shared home with Jennifer Garner in mid-April. But I guess he just now got around to getting his stuff out of the house. Stars: They procrastinate just like us! According to Page Six, some dudes came to Jennifer Garner’s house to haul his belongings to a new address. For real this time. Ben Affleck, who is a big boy with a
big-boy job, was on site supervising the move. So mature! Affleck, 44, and Garner, 45, have been separated for two years, but they both stayed in the family home with their three kids Violet, 11, Seraphina, 8, and Samuel, 5. The very reluctant “Batman v Superman” star had been living in the family guesthouse which, LOL. The gentle giant with

According to Vulture, the “Dammn Baby” singer announced Monday her tour — renamed State of the World — will kick off in September. The 50-yearold rescheduled the tour to accommodate the birth of her son Eissa, who, as we have established, is very cute. The pop icon gives

Jennifer Lopez, 47, and Alex Rodriguez, 41, historically have only really nice, really vague things to say about each other. They proved their love is unquestionably the real thing by lovingly gazing at each other on the red carpet at Monday’s Met Gala. A-Rod even shared a photo of him taking a photo of J.Lo on his Instagram, writing “Admiring Jennifer doing her thing on the carpet at the #MetGala2017.” Boring! She did look very nice, I should add, albeit completely off-theme, in a baby-blue Valentino gown. Also, I should note that while J.Lo was jamming to “Bad and Bougee,” Rodriguez was just seated, trying to remember how he got there. What a sweet pair!
Johnny Depp is possibly brilliant, also lazy
Johnny Depp — a gorgeous, tortured unicorn of a man who fell into a toxic-waste dump 10 or so years ago — is embroiled in a lawsuit with his ex-managers. The Management Group says he’s irresponsible with his money; he says spending $5 million on a cannon with which to shoot Hunter S. Thompson’s ashes isn’t irresponsible. People are pointing fingers! According to The Hollywood Reporter,

News broke in April that Jackson and her husband of five years, Wissam Al Mana, had split. Al Mana reportedly made her stop doing all that bumping and grinding, which is kind of her thing. Here’s hoping this tour is a return to form. I expect Jackson to flaunt her body in revealing clothing and give the floor a few dry humps. You know, just going back to normal.
TMG is firing back in an amended complaint against the 53-yearold. Depp had claimed that if he was really so irresponsible with his money, TMG should

Taylor Schilling loved gaining weight The actress talks her new movie, “Take Me,” and eating terribly for her next film.
It was rad. It was rad? Yeah. I ate like the rest of America, so it was amazing.

What did you eat? Pizza and sandwiches, fries. I’d have dessert all the time, like cake. It was hard to switch back. It took me almost two weeks to not crave sugar. Because I couldn’t stop. It’s truly a drug.
matt.prigge@metro.us
Taylor Schilling doesn’t have a lot of time off. She spends a good part of her year shooting “Orange is the New Black,” which is about to start its fifth season. But sometimes she squeezes in a film between long shoots. One was “The Overnight.” Her latest is “Take Me,” a small, very funny indie. Pat Healy (who also directed) plays an entrepreneur with a bizarre business: He loans himself out to people who want to be kidnapped, who see it as some form of therapy. Schilling plays his latest client/victim. But as the job goes awry, it becomes clear that she’s not being entirely honest with him. We talked to the actress, 32, as she was nursing a

salad. So we wound up talking food. How’s your salad? It’s good. I dunno, I’m simple. I’ve got very plebeian tastes. I don’t care. I’m not a foodie. No? No. I really wish I was more of a food connoisseur. I eat eggs, and chicken, and cereal. I eat like a 2-year-old a lot of the time. Maybe you’ll become a foodie later in life and get really into truffle
fries. Truffle fries are good. But also regular fries are good, too. [Laughs] I’m just as happy eating both. I guess I don’t have a very sophisticated palate. I just like it. I think that fries are across the board pretty delicious. Crispier fries are better, though. So crispy fries are the only thing you’re a food snob about. [Laughs] Actually, yes. That’s actually true. I won’t have soggy fries. It’s incredible how bad
America’s snack foods are. I just did this movie — not this one, but it’s really good. [Ed.: It’s called “Family.”] I was playing someone who was a bit of binge-eater. So I had to gain some weight — which I was really excited about.
GETTY
“Take Me,” like “The Overnight,” is a small film that’s fun, but goes to dark places, and a film you were able to make while on break from “Orange.” Do you get a lot of chances to do this kind of stuff in between seasons? No. It’s hard. I crave it a lot, and I miss it. I always feel this sense of guilt that I’m not doing more theater. It’s
like “Sophie’s Choice” every time my break comes, because I don’t know what to do with my time off. There’s so much more I want to do that’s outside of prison. Your character here is kind of the opposite of Piper. She’s a lot more confident and driven. She’s a renegade, this woman. She has this sense of, “I’m going to get what I want. I’m in charge of you, and I’m better than you, and I’m smarter than you.” I thought of her as an addict. She’s a very lonely person who needs to get this particular high to be able to go on with the rest of her life. She needs to feel dominated, then she needs to dominate. It’s sad. She’s a sad woman. But I’m attracted to that. I’m attracted to people who can’t accept themselves — who are struggling, who are really feeling like they’re on the fringes.

How have you changed as a person since your first album “Louder” came out? So much has happened since “Louder” came out. I finished “Glee,” I worked on “Scream Queens,” I lived in New Orleans for a year. These past couple of years since “Louder” have been really incredible. I truly feel I’ve grown as a performer and as a person. I’m in such a settled and happy place in my life right now and I’m so happy to be able to do what I love and get to be back on the stage.
You’ve got the music and TV markets cornered. Is there one you prefer over the other? I’m really grateful that I get to do both. I love television, but singing is one of the most incredible feelings in the entire world and I wouldn’t give that up for anything.

THNK1994 has a treat for “Sex and the City” fans. The interactive gallery — which started when curators Viviana Olen and Matt Harkins channeled their obsession with figure skaters Tonya Harding and Nancy Kerrigan into an art show in their apartment — has grown. The pair, who create exhibits based on pivotal moments in pop culture, moved their next installation, “Olsen Twins Hiding From the Paparazzi,” to a former doctor’s office in Williamsburg and now have set up a permanent gallery space in Crown Heights opening May 5. “We just do our best to make a space that’s pure fandom and makebelieve,” says Harkins — and, as often happens, Olen jumps in with a punchline: “It’s Disneyland, only very niche.” Their first exhibit in the new space — obsessions will change seasonally — is “Yama Kippi Yay Bo,” an exploration of actress

Even her early roles, anything she did, it became iconic because she brought that confidence in, and that’s what’s so cool about the video, too.” While the Olsen twins exhibit was a subversive examination of their personal life meant to unsettle you about being interested in it, “Yama Kippi Yay Bo” will be more of a shrine. Modeled after what they imagine Cattrall’s “nonprimary pied a terre” would look like, THNK1994 will “chase that glamour” with a photo op-ready fireplace tiled with im-

ages of Samantha’s exes from “Sex and the City,” hand-painted tarot cards to tell your future using deep cuts from Cattrall’s career; occasional performances of Cattrall monologues; and, of course, tons of art submitted by friends, fans and fellow Cattrall lovers. They plan to rotate exhibits seasonally, with summer bringing a collaboration with the popular blog Pop Culture Died in 2009 “with a very curatorial eye about the early aughts.” In the fall, their Olsen twins col-
laborator Laura Collins will get her own show with a painting series: “Real Housewives Pointing at You.” The gallery is free to visit; special ticketed events will include an opening gala, panel discussions and minifacials from an “aesthetician to the stars.” Though Olen and Harkins are not fulltime in the gallery business — they’re “pizza counter girls by night” at Sizzle Pie — that’s the goal. Their first two exhibits were funded through Kickstarter, but this time they’re relying on merchandise, events and memberships to fund their dream of having a permanent space to keep exploring pop culture. “We jumped full feet in,” says Olen. “These are so fun to do and so rewarding because we get to meet new artists and new people; it’s become a community.”

Adults are just kids who have outgrown the playground equipment. The solution: Get a bigger playground, and the Bronx Zoo is making some serious big kid fun happen with some amazing adults-only events. Night at the museum is so last season — you can sleep over with the lions, tigers and bears at an Adults-Only Overnight party. Taking place May 6-7, only night owls 21 and over are invited to roam the zoo after hours, with the chance to encounter some of the animals up close (no guarantees on which ones, but don’t expect to become BFFs with their new buffalo herd) and other special experi-
ences, including an Instagram scavenger hunt. Party stations will be set up in select areas serving themed food and drinks (sangria, rum punch and beer) late into the night. Drink responsibly, but if you do get a little silly, red pandas and baboons are the perfect audience for your human humor. Spend the night hunkered down in your own personal tent to the soothing sounds of the jungle (uh, they are soothing, right?). In the morning, you’ll wake to a hot breakfast, coffee and a morning yoga session, and first dibs to explore the exhibits before the zoo opens for the day. Tickets are still available for $350 per person, or $315 for Wildlife Conservation Society members, and if you don’t have a sleeping bag, the zoo is renting them along with a sleeping pad for $30. On June 16, Brew at the Zoo is back for an-
other round of over 100 varieties of wine and beer, paired snacks (and food trucks), plus karaoke, trivia and live music. Tickets are $69.99. And for some true nostalgia, there’s also an 18 and up Zoo Camp for Adults ($100, $75 for members) with activities like keeper training, animal meet-and-greets, themed games and more. The first summer session on Aug. 4 is already waitlist-only, so get your tickets for the Aug. 25 session soon! Alas, May 19’s Evening with the Gorillas is already sold out, but we’re sure there’ll be another chance for you to learn about these great apes over wine and cheese and enjoy special activities throughout the Congo Gorilla Forest exhibit. Growing up may be overrated, but at least you can be a kid again. For more information about all of these events, visit bronxzoo.com

Predicting the Knicks’
2017-18 starting 5
After Phil Jackson expressed his desire to re-sign New York’s younger players, the Knicks could be out of the running runn for big-name free agents. Metro decide decided to take an early look at what the Knicks’ starting start lineup could look like next season. JOE PANTORNO

Derrick Rose will likely sign elsewhere during free agency this summer, which means the Knicks must be proactive in finding their next floor general. With Jackson’s strategy, that leaves the team’s t best option of getting a point guard through the NBA draft. I have NC State prospect Dennis Smith getting picked by the Knicks with the No. 7 pick of the draft. He’s agile, has solid vision vis and is not afraid to slash to the basket when passing lanes are closed down.
KRISTAPSPORZINGIS What can I write about Porzingis that you don’t already know? The Latvian will be the face of the franchise upon Anthony’s departure and should be the main offensive focal point. After all, he is a unicorn.

WILLYHERNANGOMEZ The injured Joakim Noah will also be suspended for the first 12 games of the 2017-18 season, which will provide Hernangomez with a golden opportunity to step in an prove that he can be a starter in the NBA. He showed a ton of promise last season, averaging 8.2 points and seven rebounds in just 18.4 minutes per game. The 22-year-old coexists well with Porzingis and could create an imposing frontcourt in the future.
JAECROWDER
COURTNEYLEE While his numbers weren’t flashy, Courtney Lee’s output was as consistent as his previous seasons in the league. He is not going to carry an offense on his own, but in a system with Porzingis, he won’t have to. As long as he shoots around 40 percent from three-point range and can add 10-to-15 points per night, the final three years of his four-year, $48 million contract won’t look so bad.
This is where my predictions might be lofty, but there is a very real possibility that the Knicks can acquire Jay Crowder from the Boston Celtics if they deal Carmelo Anthony to Beantown. Jackson has been high on the small forward for the past few years and his perimeter defense would be a major addition.

Even though this is the second-straight season the New York Mets have been ripped apart by the injury bug, the organization at times has seemed ill-prepared, especially when it comes to its position players. One month into the season and the Mets are without both of their first basemen in Lucas Duda and Wilmer Flores, third baseman David Wright, and outfielders Yoenis Cespedes and Brandon Nimmo. It’s left the Mets with a lineup lacking punch as they’ve scored three or fewer runs in 10 of their first 25 games. Of their nine qualified batters, only three of them are batting over .250 and four have onbase percentages of .360 or higher. Two of those four though are Duda and Cespedes. As a team, the Mets’ OBP is ranked fourth worst in the majors, which has forced them to once again rely on the long ball. Despite hav-

ing the third-most home runs this season, New York’s offense is below the league average when it comes to scoring runs. There are options brewing in the minor leagues that could improve on those figures, however. Mets top prospects, shortstop Amed Rosario and first baseman Dominic Smith, are tearing it up with triple-A Las Vegas so far this season. Through 24 games, Rosario is batting .409 with a .452 OBP with a home run, 13 RBI and
seven stolen bases. The Mets as a team had just nine stolen bases ahead of Tuesday night’s game against the Braves. With Asdrubal Cabrera already running into hamstring issues earlier this season and with Jose Reyes’ unpredictability at the plate, Rosario could be a very nice addition to the left side of the infield. However, ESPN’s Keith Law believes that Rosario has another level to break through. “There’s so much bat speed and strength here
that he should eventually hit 15-20 home runs, Law wrote. “But right now, it’s translating into hard contact to all fields. Smith would provide the Mets with a natural first baseman instead of trotting out T.J. Rivera or Jay Bruce every night. The left-hander is a far more consistent hitter than Duda and is having himself a fine start to his season. In 99 at-bats, he is batting .343/.393 with three home runs and 18 RBIs. What’s been even more impressive is his ability to hit any type of pitcher. Against righthanders, he is batting .342, which is somewhat expected from a lefty bat. But against lefties, which is what’s given Duda so many problems over the years and has made Flores indispensable, Smith is batting .350. “He has very quick hands through the ball and has a simple, fluid swing that he consistently repeats, MLB. com’s Bernie Pleskoff wrote. “In fact, Smith’s swing permits him to make barrel-of-the-bat contact. He keeps his head steady and allows his wrists, forearms and his trunk to do their job.
