PAROLE HEARING FOR OJ ANNOUNCEMENT ON ANY RUSSIA SAYS SANCTIONS SIMPSON SET FOR JULY 20 COMEY TAPES THIS WEEK WILL NOT ALTER COURSE

A parole hearing for former football star O.J. Simpson, serving time in a Nevada prison for a 2008 Las Vegas robbery and kidnapping conviction, has been set for July 20 in Carson City, the Nevada Board of Parole Commissioners announced on Tuesday. The proceeding will mark the second such hearing held for Simpson, who was acquitted of the 1994 murder of his wife and her
friend, since he was sentenced to as much as 33 years for his role in a bungled attempt to recover memorabilia from his storied sports career. If granted parole at next month’s hearing, he will not be eligible for release before Oct. 1, state parole officials have said. REUTERS

President Donald Trump is expected to make an announcement this week about the existence of any tapes of conversations between him and former FBI Director James Comey, the White House said on Tuesday. “The president has said that he will make an announcement on this. I expect it this week,” White House spokesman Sean Spicer told reporters at a news briefing. Spicer was
responding to a question about whether there are tapes of the conversations with Comey, whom Trump fired last month, and whether they would be turned over to the House of Representatives Intelligence Committee, which is probing allegations of Russians meddling in the 2016 U.S. election and possible collusion with the Trump campaign. New sanctions imposed by the United States on Russian companies and individuals over Moscow’s role in the Ukraine crisis will not affect Moscow’s policy, RIA news agency cited Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov as saying on Tuesday. “We are convinced that we are right. … We will pursue our course steadily and consistently,” he said, according to RIA. The U.S.
government on Tuesday sanctioned 38 individuals and organizations over Russia’s actions in Ukraine, the U.S. Treasury Department said, reaffirming Washington’s commitment to pressuring Moscow over its annexation of Crimea.

Prodigy, half of the New York City hip-hop crew Mobb Deep, died Tuesday at the age of 42. “It is with extreme sadness and disbelief that we confirm the death of our dear friend Albert Johnson, better known to millions of fans as Prodigy of legendary NY rap duo Mobb Deep,” Mobb Deep’s publicist confirmed to Rolling Stone. “Prodigy was
hospitalized a few days ago in Vegas after a Mobb Deep performance for complications caused by a sickle cell anemia crisis. As most of his fans know, Prodigy battled the disease since birth. GoFundMe set up for Keytar Bear surpasses $6K after street performer was attacked Though the fundraiser was started before the performer was attacked, it has gained strong support since the incident. KRISTIN TOUSSAINT @kristindakota
kristin.toussaint@metro.us
After Keytar Bear was attacked by a group of teenagers this past weekend, residents are stepping up to support Boston’s cherished street performer. A GoFundMe created to get Keytar Bear a new speaker has received a whopping $6,700 in donations as of Tuesday morning. The original goal for the fundraiser was $500. The GoFundMe wasn’t actually created as a response to the attack, though, said Eric Williams, who launched the campaign. But that unfortunate event brought attention, and donations, to the fundraiser. Williams launched the campaign because he is a Keytar Bear fan (who isn’t?) and most recently saw the furry performer at Boston TechJam last week. Williams, a 27-year-old software engineer, was at the event with his company Evergage. He noticed Keytar Bear setting up his small sound system at a nearby booth. “The event had its own live performances and, as with any major live sound, it was extremely loud. As a result, Keytar Bear had to really push his system, and it ended up overheating,” he said. “Later that night, I figured, why not set up a modest GoFundMe to try and raise some money to get him a more powerful, modern speaker with more range to allow him to perform in situations such as the one he was in Thursday.” On Saturday, Keytar
Bear was attacked by three New Hampshire teens near Faneuil Hall. The attackers reportedly slammed Keytar Bear to the sidewalk, ripped off his costume head and hit him repeatedly in the face and body while saying racial slurs. They also stole his tips. The teens were charged with assault and battery, public fighting and disorderly conduct, and they could face hate crime charges. When Williams checked the GoFundMe Sunday night, he was stunned to see it had amassed about $1,800, and it has continued to grow since. “I was simply speechless,” he said. “To see it approaching $7,000 in less than four days is nothing less than inspiring.” The response to this fundraiser has shown what the beloved busker means to the city as many donors commented that they’re sorry the attack happened and to assure Keytar Bear that he’s “much more valuable than you might know.” “There is something about the outfit and his music that brings a bit of joy to people’s day, whether that person is a commuter dealing with a frustrating train ride or a tourist exploring Faneuil Hall,” Williams said. “All of this combined with the overwhelming response this GoFundMe has received proves that Keytar Bear is far more than just another street performer.” Williams said that he has been in touch with Keytar Bear’s managers through the fan Facebook page, We Love Keytar Bear, who gave Williams a Paypal account to which he’ll transfer the money. A representative for the fan page said that Keytar Bear is waiting for the Boston Police Department investigation to be done before he speaks out.
This image was posted on Keytar Bear’s fan page with a message from the furry street performer that he’s “in the mood to play music again” following an attack. WE LOVE KEYTAR BEAR FACEBOOK

A lawyer for the Boston man accused of murdering a toddler whose remains were found on a beach in 2015, sparking a monthslong effort to identify “Baby Doe, told a jury that the girl’s mother, and not his client, killed the child. A lawyer for Michael McCarthy, 37, in his closing argument Tuesday said McCarthy’s former girlfriend, Rachelle Bond, killed 2 1/2-yearold Bella Bond, saying his client was unaware of the child’s death until he was accused by police. Both sides focused on Bond’s credibility, with defense lawyer Jonathan Shapiro noting that she had repeatedly lied to friends about her child’s whereabouts in the months between the time a woman found the child’s badly decomposed remains, sparking the search for “Baby Doe’s identity, and the couple’s arrest in September 2015. Assistant District Attorney David Deakin stood by Bond’s testimony and noted that a friend of McCarthy’s, Michael Sprinsky, testified that he had warned Bond about her boyfriend’s temperament. “The defense counsel threw out a challenge to say where’s the evidence that he would do anything to harm a child? Dana-Farber Wants You to Know Your Moles: When You Should Be Concerned about Melanoma Melanoma cells
When it comes to skin growths that can lead to melanoma – the deadliest form of skin cancer – Dana-Farber Cancer Institute oncologist Elizabeth Buchbinder, MD, stresses the importance of both surveillance and a sense of history.
“Moles are formed when skin cells known as melanocytes grow in clusters, and most never cause any trouble,” Buchbinder explains. “The best way to stop melanoma early, before it can spread, is understanding what to look for.” If you develop moles, she says, watch them over time. Are they changing in shape, size, color, or texture? Is one changing faster than the others? Is it bumping out of the skin, or itching, bleeding, or hurting? If so, it is best to get this troublesome mole looked at by a dermatologist. Family history is also an important factor. There is a hereditary predisposition for melanoma, she stresses, so if your parents, siblings, or other close relatives have had the disease, you are at an increased risk, and should see a dermatologist regularly even if you don’t notice any new or suspicious moles. “A primary care physician will look for moles on your back and chest, but a dermatologist will look between your toes and underneath pockets of skin where they can hide,” says Buchbinder, an oncologist within the Center for Melanoma Oncology. “Dermatologists also use a dermatascope, a magnifying light that can expose more concerning patterns in moles not visible to the eye, as well as how deeply the pigment of a mole is deposited in your skin.” Not every “bad” mole is easy to identify, Buchbinder warns – some can be skin-colored or pink and difficult to see in a mirror. For reasons like this, she advises following the “ABCDE” method recommended by the American
Academy of Dermatology (AAD) to self-screen monthly for melanoma and other skin cancers in moles and birthmarks: s A – Asymmetry, or when one half of the mark appears different than the other. s B – Border, when the mark has an irregular, scalloped, or poorly defined border. s C – Color, if the mark is varied from one area to the other. It might have shades of tan, brown, black, or be white, red, or blue. s D – Diameter. Melanomas are usually bigger than 6mm, or the size of a pencil eraser. In some cases, they can appear smaller. s E – Evolving, when a mole or mark looks different than others on your body, or different than it used to. To learn more about melanoma treatment and research, visit danafarber.org. Dana-Farber Cancer Institute is a principal teaching affiliate of the Harvard Medical School and is among the leading cancer research and care centers in the United States. It is a founding member of the Dana-Farber/Harvard Cancer Center, designated a comprehensive cancer center by the National Cancer Institute. “One of the great things about Boston is the position of old architecture and new,” said Robin Watson Mangano (@robbinmangano).
Public Garden The Boston landmark is a favorite selfie spot of @blondemeetscity’s Maria Albini and Tom O’Keefe, the face behind @bostontweet. It’s easy to see why, with its Victorian feel, swan boat rides, public art and more than 50 plant species. Additionally, nearby Charles Street boasts quintessential Boston buildings.
Esplanade Regan Cleminson of @venturetravelist recommends the notable waterfront park, which offers docks, green space, the signature Hatch Shell and sweeping vistas of the Charles River. Another
perk: good natural lighting, which is Cleminson’s number one selfie tip. The Lookout Rooftop at the Envoy Hotel Why settle for one Boston location when you can see them all? This luxurious rooftop is the perfect place to document the Boston skyline and the jet-setter/ weekday cocktails lifestyle. The rooftop is one of Mangano’s top picks and
The Custom House Tower The Financial District’s iconic clock tower was once the tallest building in Boston. While other skyscrapers now stand above it, the tower still makes a good selfie destination. “You can see it from so many spots in downtown Boston,” Mangano said. “I always suggest [visitors] grab a photo of it because it’s such a unique piece in the city.” Boston Public Library The landmark has everything an Instagrammer would want: striking architecture, beautiful details, a unique courtyard and a great central location in Copley Square. One of Clemison’s favorite selfie locations, it’s also a great place get some work done, between photo ops, of course.

space “Paint alone can completely transform a space, says Lex. “A lighter color goes a long way to make the space feel larger if you don’t have the natural light coming through windows, adds Alana. Another solution: wallpaper. If you’re a renter, try pretty, removal patterns. For an even more affordable option, Lex says she once used pages from an old book to wallpaper her bathroom. Another simple trick to freshen up your space for free: rearranging a room. Growing up, Alana and Lex shared a bedroom, and “we used to move our furniture around every week, Lex remembers. “I knew we would be designers because we kept re-creating our bedroom, like, for years. Multiple small touches can add up to a big difference: Switch out your pillows, update rugs and curtains, she adds. Instead of buying a new dining table, “refinishing and giving new life to
XXXXXXXX an old piece of furniture adds character to the space, and it’s also affordable, suggests Alana.
Expand your square footage Especially if you live in a city, finding ways to best use your space is essential for your sanity. A space-saving trick for homeowners: Use upper cabinets as lower cabinets. Lex explains that because floor cabinets are usually larger and deeper, if you swap those out for upper cabinets, you can make more room on the ground. Instead of upper cabinets, you can opt for floating shelves, which “give you more of an airy feel, she explains. The duo are big fans of installing wooden planks and pipe shelving. In the bedroom: Try vertical storage — shoe cubbies, even extra shelves — to get things off the closet floor. And the LeBlancs are fans of Murphy-style beds. “People don’t think about them that often, but they’re a real thing, and [ideal] for studio apart-
ments, says Alana.
How to get started What if you have ideas but don’t know how to execute them? “Not just because we have a show on HGTV, Alana jokes, “but I love HGTV Magazine for easy, cost-effective DIYs that anyone can do. They add that Pinterest is always a good place for inspiration and how-tos. But don’t underestimate a trip to Home Depot. “They can cut the wood for you if you don’t have a saw, Lex says — or even your local hardware store. “Ask them all the questions. A word of advice for bigger renovations: “You have to have a clear, concise plan before you start any project. Have it written down, Alana says. “If you can, have any materials or furnishings that are needed, ordered and on their way. Never demo a space without the materials almost there or on site already. Season two of “Listed Sisters premieres Wednesday, July 12 at 11 p.m. on HGTV.

Big stretch for Bruins, NHL ahead The expansion draft, NHL draft and free agency are all coming up quickly. RICH SLATE @RichSlate
sports@metro.us
This isn’t your typical quiet off-season in the NHL, in fact the next few days are going to be what the league hopes is someday remembered as a monumental time in its history. In addition to the usual NHL Awards ceremony on Wednesday (8, NBCSN) which is annually held in Las Vegas, the Golden Knights (Vegas’ first top-level professional sports team) will announce its Expansion Draft selections as well during the show. It’s the first NHL expansion draft since 2000 when the Minnesota Wild and Columbus Blue Jackets came into existence. As the NHL’s 31st club (playing in the Western Conference’s Pacific Division), the Knights must select at least one player from every other team for a total of 30 players (with a minimum of 14 forwards, nine defensemen and three goaltenders). Last Sunday, each franchise had to submit a protected list of players (that Las Vegas couldn’t select) and the Bruins chose to shield seven forwards, three defense-

men and one goaltender. The players who are still officially Bruins are forwards David Backes, Patrice Bergeron, David Krejci, Brad Marchand, Riley Nash, David Pastrnak and Ryan Spooner; defensemen Zdeno Chara, Torey Krug and Kevan Miller; and goaltender Tu-

ukka Rask. Those left unprotected by Boston were forwards Matt Beleskey and Jimmy Hayes; defensemen Adam McQuaid, Colin Miller and Joe Morrow; and goaltender Malcolm Subban. Keep in mind that first- and second-year professionals (such as talented young
defensemen Brandon Carlo and Charlie McAvoy) along with all unsigned draft choices of the B’s are not allowed to be picked by Las Vegas. The only real surprise from the Bruins in this case was that they chose Miller (3 goals and 10 assists in 58 games) over Colin Miller (6 goals
and 7 assists in 61 games). Granted that Kevan had a better 2016-17 campaign (in terms of consistency game-to-game) than Colin and a real solid playoff series vs. Ottawa, but Colin is younger and cheaper with more skills that jump out at you (great skater and a big-time shot). The Golden Knights have to stay under the recently released NHL salary cap of $75 million for next season, so it’s not like they can just assemble a team of all the best players available in the expansion draft. Still, Colin Miller is 24 years old and he is set to only earn $1 million in 2017-18 which is a bargain. In other words, don’t be surprised to see him selected by Las Vegas. Meanwhile, Bergeron will be bidding for his fourth career Selke Trophy (best defensive forward) on Wednesday after he previously won it in 2011-12 then back-toback seasons starting two years later (2013-14 and 2014-15). The league-wide roster freeze ends on Thursday morning and the 2017 NHL draft begins on Friday in Chicago with Round 1 followed by Rounds 2-7 on Saturday. The draft is always the site of many deals involving both draft picks and established players in the league so you’ll want to pay attention to the news coming from this weekend. It also serves as a nice prelude to free agency beginning the following Saturday.
Celtics trade rumors continue to fly The Jimmy Butler rumors were quiet on Tuesday afternoon but two relatively new potential trade targets emerged for the Celtics with the NBA Draft coming up on Thursday (7 p.m., ESPN). Stunningly, the Knicks are entertaining offers for 21-year-old stud power forward/ center Kristaps Porzingis. The New York Daily News’ Stefan Bondy piggybacked on a story by The Vertical earlier in the day which said New York is willing to trade Porzingis. Bondy wrote, “As Phil Jackson stated publicly, he’s not ruling
out dealing anybody — including Kristaps Porzingis. And the Celtics, who own the third overall pick in the NBA draft, are interested.” Porzingis did not show up to his exit meeting with Jackson and the Latvian has a “strained” relationship with the Knicks front office. The Celtics would surely need to pony up to land a young player of Porzingis’ quality, however, potentially having to part with this year’s No. 3 overall pick, next year’s Brooklyn pick and the pick they just landed

from the Sixers for 2018 or 2019 depending on stipulations. Another player who could surface in Celtics trade rumors in the next few hours is Kevin Love, a player the Celtics were hot and heavy for as recently as last summer. The Cavs front office is a mess after owner Dan Gilbert more or less fired GM David Griffin, and a shakeup seems imminent. That shakeup would likely start with the trading of Love, who has fallen out of favor with star LeBron James at times over the past few seasons. MATT BURKE
