SENATOR: TRUMP JR. TO TESTIFY IN CONGRESS

1

President Donald Trump’s son and his former campaign chairman have been given approval by a U.S. special counsel to testify publicly to Congress as part of investigations into Russian meddling in the 2016 election, the top Democrat on the Senate Judiciary Committee said. U.S. Sen. Dianne Feinstein told Reuters the special counsel, former FBI director Robert Mueller, said that Donald Trump Jr. and

Paul Manafort, campaign manager from March to August, were free to speak to the committee. Mueller is investigating allegations by U.S. intelligence agencies that Russia interfered to help Trump win the presidency and possible collusion between Moscow and the Republican’s campaign.

TRUMP, PUTIN HELD EX-US HOUSE SPEAKER SECOND, MEETING AT G-20 HASTERT OUT OF PRISON

2

President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin held a second, previously undisclosed conversation during a dinner for G20 leaders at a summit earlier this month in Germany, a White House official confirmed on Tuesday. The two leaders held a formal two-hour bilateral meeting on July 7 in which Trump later said Putin denied allegations that he directed efforts to meddle in the

2016 U.S. presidential election. The White House official did not say how long the second meeting took place or what was discussed. The second conversation between Trump and Putin took place during a dinner for the Group of 20 heads of state and their spouses in Hamburg, said Ian Bremmer, the president of political risk consultancy Eurasia Group, who was first to report the meeting in a note to clients.

Former U.S. House of Representative Speaker Dennis Hastert has been released from prison in Minnesota and moved to a Chicago halfway house after serving a 13-month sentence for a financial crime tied to sex abuse, federal records showed. The 75-year-old was sentenced to 15 months at the Federal Medical Center in Rochester, Minnesota in April 2016 for banking violations that

revealed he sexually abused teenage boys while coaching wrestling at a high school in Yorkville, Illinois in the 1960s and 1970s. He is scheduled to be held at a residential re-entry facility office in Chicago until Aug. 16, according to Federal Bureau of Prisons records on Tuesday.

US PUTS NEW SANCTIONS ON IRAN

5

The United States slapped new economic sanctions against Iran on over its ballistic missile program and said Tehran’s “malign activities” in the Middle East undercut any “positive contributions” coming from the 2015 Iran nuclear accord. The measures signaled that the administration of President Donald Trump was seeking to put more pressure on Iran while keeping in place an agreement between Tehran and six world powers to

curb its nuclear program in return for lifting international oil and financial sanctions. The U.S. government said it was targeting 18 entities and people for supporting what is said was “illicit Iranian actors or transnational criminal activity.” Those sanctioned had backed Iran’s military or Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps by developing drones and military equipment, producing and maintaining boats, and procuring electronic components, it said.

Republicans fail to deliver promised healthcare reform After assuring Americans that healthcare would be a priority, the GOP could not deliver an Obamacare replacement. JASON NUCKOLLS @MetroNewYork

jason.nuckolls@metro.us

Republicans’ seven-year promise to repeal and replace Obamacare collapsed in the Senate on Tuesday when their legislation failed to draw enough support to be put to a vote in the chamber. After their repealand-replace bill, which began in the House as the American Health Care Act, failed to move forward in the Senate on Monday night, reports indicated that Re-

publican leaders pitched a new alternative: a straightforward repeal of Obamacare without a replacement. That plan, though, seemed dead on arrival as three key Republican senators have already said they would not vote for a plan without a replacement, The New York Times reported. That trio, Sens. Susan Collins of Maine, Shelley Moore Capito of West Virginia and Lisa Murkowski of Alaska, is enough to stop the bill from moving forward, as the loss of those senators’ supp o r t puts the

legislation below the threshold of 50 votes needed to bring it to the Senate floor. “I did not come to Washington to hurt people,” a statement from Sen. Capito was quoted by the Times. “I cannot vote to repeal Obamacare without a replacement plan that addresses my concerns and the needs of West Virginians.” C o m plicating things for Republicans, Obamacare has b e e n

gaining in popularity in recent months, the Washington Post reported. A poll released Monday showed that Obamacare enjoyed a 50 percent approval rating while the now-defunct GOP repeal-and-replace alternative only had the support of 24 percent of Americans. Another problem for the GOP was that their healthcare repeal drew criticism from both wings of the party, from centrists who felt that cuts to Medicaid were too severe and from budget conservatives who believed the cuts weren’t enough, the Post added. “I think what has to happen is the Republicans have to admit that some of the things in the ACA we actually liked, and the Democrats have to admit that some of the things they voted for in the ACA are broken and need to be fixed,” Sen. Murkowski was quoted by CNN. Even though the repeal-only bill, which was previously passed in 2015 but vetoed by President Obama, apparently does not have enough support now to advance, Sen. McConnell has promised that Republicans will hold a procedural vote on the legislation “early next week,” CNN added.

TRUMP’S AMERICA

FIXING HEALTHCARE AS EASY AS A-B-C-D Plan A is dead. The Republicans’ seven-year promise to repeal and replace Obamacare never got the oxygen it needed in Mitch McConnell’s Senate. On Monday night, a third and a fourth Republican senator flatlined the so-called Better Care Reconciliation Act. Someone slapped a toe tag on it. It was gone. Plan B arrived Tuesday morning, already on life support. “Repeal and we’ll get back to you later,” this one probably should have been called. Donald Trump — looking for something, anything, to sign — tweeted his support immediately: “Republicans should just REPEAL failing ObamaCare now & work on a new Healthcare Plan that will start from a clean slate. Dems will join in!” Leader McConnell seemed to agree. He marched to the Senate floor and promised a swift “repeal of Obamacare combined with a stable, two-year transition period.” Transition to what? No one had a clue. By Tuesday afternoon, Plan B was also heading to the morgue. Three Republican senators — Susan Collins of Maine, Shelley Capito of West Virginia and Lisa Murkowski of Alaska — pulled the plug this time. All of them wor-

ried what this leap into darkness might mean for sick people of their states. So are you ready for Plan C? Plan C is don’t get sick. Whatever you do, don’t get sick. And that’s where we’ll all be stuck unless the two parties in Washington, Republicans and Democrats, somehow find their way to Plan D. Plan D is the one they should have started with all along. Work together. Embrace the good parts of Obamacare. The expansion of Medicaid. The protections for those with pre-existing conditions. Keeping kids on their parents’ insurance until 26. Then, shore up the exchanges. Offer a public option. Negotiate drug prices. Fix whatever else is broken with Obamacare. Cooperation. Practical solutions. Plan D. What to do when you catch a thief? Take a selfie with him! “You see that face? That looks like a man who steals wallets, right?” a Brooklyn man asked the camera. NIKKI M. MASCALI @MetroNewYork

nikki.mascali@metro.us

There are a billion selfies showing people doing just about everything on a daily basis, but one Brooklyn man might be in a class all his own for taking a selfie with the man who allegedly stole his wallet. An East New York man who calls himself Cee DaProphet on Facebook was riding an uptown B train on Friday when, unbeknownst to him, his wallet fell out of his pocket. Moments later, he saw a man pick something up near him before running off the train just before the doors closed. Cee told the New York Daily News that he checked his pockets and learned that his wallet was missing. He exited the train at the next stop, 59th Street-Columbus Circle, and got on a southbound B train, where he spied the alleged thief still on the platform at 7th Avenue where he had gotten off. He said the suspect ran off, but not before tossing Cee’s debit card in a

garbage can. After retrieving it, Cee went up to the street, where he again spotted the would-be thief outside the subway station entrance. “I pulled him to the side and said, ‘Yo, man, you got my wallet,’” Cee told the Daily News. Witnesses called police, and while waiting for them to arrive, Cee out his cellphone and began taking a video of himself with the suspect. “You see that face? That looks like a man who steals wallets, right?” Cee asks the camera. “Where you going? Empty your pockets, and I’ll let you go,” he said when the tried to wiggle out of Cee’s iron grip.

Cee took two more videos in the 10 minutes it took for police to arrive, but he told the Daily News that the suspect gave him back his wallet after he shot the first one. The three videos combined received more than 1.6 million views. Police identified the man as Hagie Mangara, a 31-year-old Bronx resident who told Cee in one of the videos he was from Africa. Mangara was charged with criminal possession of stolen property and released on Saturday. According to police, he had 28 previous arrests that mostly consisted of turnstile jumping. This was his first offense since 2013.

acquitted of murder charges by a jury. Naeem Davis, a 34-year-old man who was homeless at the time of the incident, shoved the victim, 58-year-old Ki Suck Han, into the path of the oncoming Q train that crushed him.

Assistant DA Charles Whitt said that, afterward, Davis simply grabbed his coffee cup and left the station for work, the Post reported. Davis successfully argued that he pushed the man in self-defense after Han, who was allegedly intoxicated, stumbled after him and threatened to kill him. Han, barely more than 5 feet tall and weighing just over 120 pounds, was flung onto the tracks in what prosecutors claimed was an aggressive act committed by Davis during the scuffle. Davis, who faced life in prison and was held in custody awaiting trial, will now be released.

Neighbors of a halfway house in Queens that was home to the four suspects who allegedly attacked a woman leaving a borough church last week had no idea the halfway house was there. The revelation was made Monday during a news conference by

Mayor Bill de Blasio and NYPD officials to announce the forthcoming 116th Precinct in Queens. According to the conference’s transcript, members of Community Board 12 were unaware the youth halfway house was there until after the 50-year-old woman was robbed and forced to perform oral sex on her attackers at gunpoint. When asked what the notification process was for the facility, de Blasio said he didn’t know. “When we announced the plan for the adult shelters a few months ago, we made very clear the notification process we would be undertaking going forward,â€? he said. “Anything involving domestic violence, for example, is a different set of rules for obvious reasons around confidentiality. I don’t know the specific rules when it involves minors. ‌ We’ll get back to you to give you history of how that specific shelter was handled.â€? It was an employee of the 21-bed halfway house, which has residents between the ages of 16 and 21, who identified the sus-

pects and alerted police, NYPD Chief of Detectives Robert Boyce said. Three of the attackers, Brandon Walker, 20, Justin Williams, 17, and Julisses Ginel, 19, were arrested last Thursday. The fourth suspect has been identified as 20-yearold Isaiah Shorter, whose photo was released by police on Monday. Boyce said that Shorter had 14 prior arrests, which included two for robbery and one for endangering the welfare of a child, according to the New York Post. According to the incident’s police report, the 50-year-old victim was approached by two armed men as she left the Celestial Church of Christ near 150th Street and Beaver Avenue in Queens around 11 p.m. last Tuesday. When Walker, Williams and Ginel were arrested at the halfway house on Thursday, two imitation pistols were recovered. All three were charged with robbery, criminal sex acts, criminal use of a firearm and sex abuse, while Walker and Williams were also charged with menacing.

NJ Transit’s latest issue? No crew Several trains were canceled on Monday due to a lack of workers to operate them. NIKKI M. MASCALI @MetroNewYork

Commuters aren’t the only ones battling the subsequent service changes due to Amtrak’s twomonth repair work at Penn Station. New Jersey Transit canceled several trains Monday night due to a “manpower shortage.” Four trains on the Northeast Corridor and North Jersey Coast Line were affected, and riders were alerted via Twitter. Princeton Junction “Dinky” trains were also suspended due to a lack of available crew, NJ.com reported. The Dinky trains, which are called such due to the short length of the rail line, were replaced by buses. While NJ Transit did not comment on the exact cause of the crew short-

age, an official whose name was withheld because they are not authorized to speak with the media, told NJ.com that engineers are unhappy with the schedule change caused by the “summer of hell” repair work at Penn Station, which is now in its second week. The official added that the locomotive engineers must bid to work on specific trains based on seniority. The unnamed NJ Transit official did relay that under a contract that was created last year to avoid a rail union strike, employees are able to not come to work if there is a crew change or scheduling issue. “The employees are exercising their right under the agreement not to show up. They’re just not showing up,” the official said. And that “not showing up” stretched into Tuesday morning’s commute as well as Princeton’s Dinky shuttle service “remains suspended as a result of no engineer,” NJ Transit tweeted around 5:30 a.m.

NEW YORK CITY Madonna seeks to stop NY auction of Tupac Shakur break-up letter Madonna attempted on Tuesday to stop an upcoming auction of a prison break-up letter from rapper Tupac Shakur and a note in which she called singer Whitney Houston and actress Sharon Stone “horribly mediocre.” The “Rebel Heart” singer filed a request in New York Supreme Court for a temporary restraining order against New York auction house Gotta Have It Collectibles to halt the sale, due to start on Wednesday. Madonna said in court documents that she was not aware until reading press reports that many of the items listed for auction, including the letter from her former boyfriend Shakur, were no longer in her possession. The items were consigned to auction by Darlene Lutz, whom Ma-

donna described in court documents as a former friend and art consultant and said she had “betrayed my trust in an outrageous effort to obtain my possessions without my knowledge or consent.” A representative for the auction house and Lutz said in an emailed statement that Madonna’s effort to stop the sale was “a completely baseless and meritless action,” and they would challenge her claims in court. “We believe that her intent is nothing more than to besmirch the good reputations of the auction house and Ms Lutz,” the statement said. In a letter dated January 1995 and written to Madonna by Shakur while he was in prison for sexual assault, the rapper said he ended their romance because he felt that dating a white woman could jeopardize his career. We order food, find dates and hail rides with our phones, and now New Yorkers in all five boroughs can add feeding the meter to that list with the Queens launch of ParkNYC. Announced Tuesday as part of Mayor Bill de Blasio’s “City Hall in Your Boroughâ€? initiative, the Queens activation is the final step in rolling out ParkNYC. The program launched in Manhattan in December. “In last year’s State of the City, we promised payby-cell at every metered parking space in New York City, and we have deliveredâ€? de Blasio said. “We know that especially here in Queens, parking can be a challenge, but ParkNYC now makes it a bit easier — with no paper receipt and the ability to quickly get on your way.â€? So if you still want to use coins or a credit or debit card to feed the Muni-Meter, that’s your prerogative. “Now that drivers don’t have to leave their home, job or time with friends and family to feed the meter, we’ll see happier New Yorkers across the city, said City Council Transportation Chair Ydanis Rodriguez. “This will help both drivers and the city better manage our metered parking spots and create new opportunities to improve parking in the city going forward. How does ParkNYC work? To use ParkNYC, which is operated by a private

vendor called Parkmobile, New Yorkers will need to: • Download the ParkNYC app or visit parknyc. parkmobile.us/parknyc. • Enter an email address and phone number to create a password. • Input a license plate number for the account. • Load a wallet, which works similar to EZPass and can have increments as low as $25. • When parking, drivers will just enter the dedicated six-digit zone number found on a nearby sign or decal and the length of time they plan to park. • If time is running out — and the maximum time is not reached — drivers can extend their time without leaving their location.

N 48-HOUR DISTRIBUTION: These seldom seen uncut sheets of new $2 bills are being moved from the private vaults of the Lincoln Treasury for immediate distribution to NYC area residents. Residents who beat the 48-hour order deadline to get the vault stacks containing three protective bankers portfolios for just thirty-eight dollars per portfolio are getting the valuable uncut sheets of never circulated $2 bills for just face value. That’s a real steal because only those residents whose zip code appears on the Distribution List are getting the Vault Stacks full of real money just by calling 1-800-731-4576 Dept. UNC233 to beat the 48-hour deadline.

NYC area zip codes turn up cash for residents N VALUABLE: Pictured to the left are the Vault Stacks containing three protective bankers por tfolios, each loaded with a valuable uncut sheet of never circulated $2 bills. It’s impossible to predict how much the bills will be worth in the future. That’s why smart collectors are snatching up all the valuable uncut sheets of Gov’t issued money they can get their hands on, so you better believe at just thirtyeight dollars and shipping each bankers portfolio is a real steal since the first NYC area callers who beat the 48-hour deadline are getting the valuable U.S. Gov’t issued uncut sheet of money for just face value.

NEW YORK - NYC area residents who find their zip code on the Distribution List will feel like they just won the lottery. That’s because for the nex t 48 hours, uncut sheets of never circulated $2 bills are being released by the Lincoln Treasury not to banks, not to dealers and not just to the rich and famous, but directly to NYC area residents who beat the order deadline. The only thing residents need to do is look for their zip code on the Distribution List printed in today’s publication. If their zip code appears on the list, they need to immediately call the Distribution Hotline before the 48-hour order deadline ends to get the Vault Stack containing three protective bankers portfolios each loaded with its own

uncut sheet of never circulated $2 bills. But only those residents whose zip code appears on the Distribution List can even get the Vault Stacks containing three protective bankers portfolios full of real money. “The money is being released until our last remaining uncut sheets of $2 bills are completely gone,” said Timothy J. Shissler, Executive Director of Vault Operations at the private Lincoln Treasury. “That’s why we’ve set up a Toll Free Distribution Hotline to make sure residents get them now,” he said. “This announcement is being so widely advertised because everything in our vault may soon be gone. So residents who want to get the

(Continued from previous page) uncut sheets of never circulated $2 bills had better hurry and call right now,” Shissler said. Those who get in on this now will be the really smart ones. Just think what they could be worth someday. “Currency values always fluctuate, and there are never any guarantees. But at just thirty-eight dollars the bankers portfolio is a real steal since the first NYC area callers who beat the 48-hour deadline are getting the valuable U.S. Gov’t issued uncut sheet of money for just face value,” Shissler said. “You would expect to only see uncut money sheets on display in the Oval Office or under guard at the

Smithsonian,” he said. “In fact, they are so seldom seen, banks don’t even have them. That’s why I’ve issued a directive to release a limited number of never circulated uncut sheets of $2 bills from our private vault reserve to residents of the NYC area. Residents whose zip code is not on the Distribution List can’t have our Vault Stacks loaded with these uncut sheets of $2 bills,” Shissler said. “These uncut sheets of Gov’t issued $2 bills will be highly sought after and are extremely popular to hand out as gifts for friends and family,” he said. Most people have never even seen one of these full uncut sheets

of four never circulated bills. “We’re bracing for all the calls. With just hours left, we’re doing our best to make sure NYC area residents get through. But, it is important that residents find their zip code on the Distribution List and call the Toll Free Hotline right away to beat the deadline. Because when our release is over, it’s over,” he said. “We’re allowing residents whose zip code appears on the Distribution List to claim as many as 10 Vault

Stacks. But, since you can’t get these Vault Stacks containing three protective bankers portfolios full of U.S. Gov’t issued uncut sheets of money at banks, credit unions or even the Federal Reserve the limits will be strictly enforced,” Shissler said. “So, residents who want these Gov’t issued uncut sheets of real money need to call right now. If lines are busy keep trying, we promise to answer all calls,” Shissler said. N

How to get the money The Toll Free Distribution Hotline opens at 8:30am today for NYC area residents only. The Lincoln Treasury has authorized the release of uncut sheets of never circulated $2 bills to residents who beat the 48-hour deadline. If lines are busy, keep trying all calls will be answered. If you miss the deadline you’ll be turned away from this offer and forced to wait for future announcements in this publication or others, if any. The only thing readers need to do is find their zip code on the Distribution List below and be one of the first residents who call and beat the order deadline to get the Vault Stack containing three protective bankers portfolios, for just $38 per portfolio and shipping. Everyone who does is instantly being awarded the valuable uncut sheets of never circulated $2 bills for just face value. There is a strict limit of 10 Vault Stacks per household. Best times to book a flight for summer travel It’s probably best to avoid booking a flight on Fridays this summer. LENYON WHITAKER @MetroNewYork letters@metro.us

If you’re looking to plan a last-minute trip to get the most out of your summer, but you aren’t sure when to get the best summer travel deals, then we’ve got you covered to help you find the cheapest flights. Travel site Kayak. com has crunched the numbers and analyzed summer travel dates and pricing to come up with the best times to plan your summer getaway so you can do more relaxing and less worrying about your bank account. The worst time for domestic travel in 2017 was Sunday, June 25, according to Kayak.com. They determined this to be the worst day because many people try to extend their Fourth of July holiday by traveling a few days ahead. For international flights, the most expensive day was June 30. According to Roger Dow, CEO of the U.S Travel Association, the busiest days to travel during the summer are Fridays in June, July and August. Traveling on the weekend is typically busy throughout the year, and when you combine it with the warm summer months, your airport experience could be a nightmare. Since many tend to look for a flight to book on a Friday for a weekend getaway, the average cost of airfare can in-

crease significantly. It may be better to book on a Saturday or Sunday if you need to fly on the weekend. If you have the option to travel on any day, you’ll find the cheapest tickets on Tuesday and Wednesday during the summer. If you’re looking to book a flight for a lastminute summer vacation, you still have time. Kayak has determined that the weekend of Aug. 25 is the cheapest weekend for flying, just before Labor Day. If you do plan on traveling for Labor Day weekend, they advise to book as soon as possible to get the best deal. If you procrastinate, you’ll likely have to pay more for your flight. If you’re planning to book a flight to a destination within the United States, it’s best to book your flight two to four weeks in advance. For international travel, it’s best to make those plans two to three months ahead.

Top 10 trending summer travel destinations According to Kayak, the following destinations are the top 10 trending places to travel to this summer. Kona, Hawaii Toronto, Canada Hyderabad, India Milan, Italy Vancouver, Canada Reykjavik, Iceland Calgary, Canada Copenhagen, Denmark Edinburgh, Scotland Madrid, Spain

R. Kelly “cult” member speaks out On Monday, some concerned parents spoke out to Buzzfeed, accusing R&B star R. Kelly of keeping their teenage daughter in a twisted sex cult. Kelly, 50, shot back with a statement through his attorney Linda Mensch, denying any wrongdoing. Now, one of the alleged cult members is speaking out. Kate Mara & Jamie Bell are married! News broke that the couple were engaged in January. They met on the set of “Fantastic Four,” which was bad, remember? This is Bell’s second marriage

Kate Mara and Jamie Bell secretly got married, presumably over the weekend. I mean it wasn’t a secret. We just weren’t invited. Mara, 34, shared a picture on her Instagram that just said “Nuptials.” It’s really fuzzy, and you can barely tell that Bell and Mara are even in the picture. Bell shared the same image to his Twitter, writing “Me & Mrs B.” Aw.

— he was married to Evan Rachel Wood for about two years, and they share a son. It’s Mara’s first wedding, but she used to date Max Minghella, a man for whom we should all be thankful. Mara’s not doing so bad in the dude department, if you know what I mean. Anyway, congratulations to the Mara-Bells! May your love last for an eternity, which in celebrity years is just short of a decade.

John Mayer is inspired by Drake

And the new shows will be a departure for Mayer, who has now brought colorful and futuristic LEDs in to make him young and relevant. All because, essentially, he wants to be Drake. “I wanted to have a really big show,” Mayer told AP. ‘I went and saw Drake’s show and … real artists say, ‘Wow!” ... Because you see something that wows you, and as an artist yourself, you go, ‘I want a little of that.’” Of course, Mayer — who by the way, is very talented, just really annoying — is a fan of Drake’s, and would go to a Drake set and be like, “Ooh, gimme!” So I guess those of you who are willing to spend money on supporting John Mayer’s career will have to let me know if it was all worth it.

Congratulations, you crazy, um, adults!

Kate Middleton made a joke

Fascinating!

Kate Middleton, y’alls fave, just joked about having more children. Very interesting! Middleton — ahem, I mean the duchess of Cambridge — already shares two children with The duke of Cambridge, aka Prince William: Prince George, 3, and Princess Charlotte, 2.

But during a royal trip to Poland, Middleton made a joke that some people are freaking out about. Sure! When the duke and duchess received a gift for a newborn baby from a Polish fan, she quipped, “We will just have to have more babies.” Stop the presses! Get the guns!

Man the whatevers! A woman and her husband might have another kid! It’s just so unbelievable! The only sad thing about this is that with every child, Prince Harry gets further and further away from the throne. Although, to be fair, that’s kind of what he wants.

This Sunday, the 13th Doctor was announced for the new season of the BBC’s long-running show “Doctor Who. If you’ve managed somehow to miss this show, let me explain. It’s been around since 1963 and there are 36 seasons. There have been 12 Doctors (well, more, but it’s complicated). The Doctor, however, is actually the same being (he’s an alien with two hearts) who regenerates into new bodies. The Doctor has always been played by a white man, but the 13th Doctor is a woman. (Technically, the first female Doctor was played by Joanna

Lumley in a 1999 Comic Relief sketch, but that was just a sketch.) Many fans have been calling for this for a long time. I mean, it makes sense. If you can regenerate into new bodies, why wouldn’t one of them be female? (We could talk about why one of them couldn’t be another race, but hopefully that will happen as well!) The new Doctor is Jodie Whittaker (“Broadchurchâ€?) and I’m so excited to see what she does with the role. There have been countless videos of little girls crying with happiness, little boys saying, “It’s about time,â€? and posts from around the world from people like me, who are thrilled. There have also been a ton of trolls, like the guys who posted, “Time travel is for men and men only,â€? which ‌ there are just no words for the stupidity of that statement. Oh my God, dude, time travel isn’t real so there can’t ‌ never mind. I’m not printing his name because he’s probably back in his little troll hole, anyway. I’ve made no secret of my love for “Doctor Who.â€? I love it with all my heart. I’ve loved all the Doctors (yes, I’ve watched every

episode that exists), though I started with the reimagined series featuring Christopher Eccleston as the ninth Doctor. I won’t debate which of the new Doctors is my favorite because I can’t pick. I’ve interviewed many of them, I’ve been on panels with some (so hard not to fangirl!), I’ve hosted after-shows for the series, I’ve contributed chapters to and assistant edited the book “Doctor Who Psychology: Mad Man With a Box and I have a number of sonic screwdrivers in my house. So when I read things like, “The BBC are trying to brainwash your children, I can’t do anything but laugh. When I heard the news, I teared up. It’s time. It’s more than time. I am so excited to see what this version of the Doctor is like. I’m thrilled to meet the new Doctor. I’m thrilled to learn about her quirks. I’ll be sad to see Peter Capaldi go because I adore him, but this is going to give the writers and directors a whole new field to play in. If you don’t like it, as has been pointed out all over the internet, there are 36 seasons with a male Doctor. Go watch those.

Home sale prices in BK and Queens continue upward climb Median price in Brooklyn for Q2 increased 22 percent year-over-year. TheRealDeal.com is a daily blog and monthly magazine covering real estate in the New York metro area.

Home prices in Brooklyn and Queens are continuing their steady ascent, reaching respective median sales points of $795,000 and $510,000 during the second quarter of 2017, according to Douglas Elliman’s latest quarterly report. Both price points were significantly higher than they were during the second quarter of 2016, with Brooklyn shooting up by 20.6 percent and Queens increasing by 9.7 percent. Sales volume increased during the same time period as well, going from 1,888

to 2,845 in Brooklyn and from 2,611 to 3,839 in Queens. “We’re seeing inventory deteriorate,” said Jonathan Miller, CEO of appraisal firm Miller Samuel and author of the report, “and as a result, we’re seeing the fastest moving market that we’ve reported.” This is now the fourth quarter in a row that Brooklyn has set a record for median sales price, according to Miller. The report looks at sales for condominiums, co-ops and one-to-threefamily properties, all of which saw their median prices rise during the second quarter of 2017 compared to the second quarter of 2016 in both boroughs, the report shows. Condos were the priciest property type in Brooklyn with a median sales price of $900,000, higher than the median

sales price for both coops and one-to-threefamily homes. New condo developments in the borough had an even higher median price of $990,000. South Brooklyn was the most popular region of the borough by sales volume, with 1,341 sales in the second quarter, while northwest Brooklyn was the most expensive region, with a median sales price of $1.15 million. Condos were the most expensive property type in Queens as well, with a median sales price of $648,425. The median sales price for new condos was roughly $100,000 higher at $749,674. Southern Queens had the highest amount of sales by volume with 1,057, while the highest median sales price was in northwest Queens at $805,339. Douglas Elliman also

released a report on the Riverdale market in the Bronx, where the median sales price for the second quarter was $285,000, up from $274,000 in the second quarter of last year. The priciest properties in the neighborhood were one-to-three-family homes, with median sales of $845,500. Despite the median price increase, the number of sales in Riverdale between the second quarter of 2016 and 2017 dropped, going from 179 last year to 155 this year. “The problem facing Riverdale right now is inventory is dropping sharply, and that is keeping sales in check,” Miller said. “There just isn’t enough turnover to look for in this market to see sales growth like we’re seeing in the outer boroughs, in the boroughs of Brooklyn and Queens,” he continued. Can the Knicks move Melo? JOE PANTORNO @JoePantorno

joseph.pantorno@metro.us

The New York Knicks front office is complete after signing on Scott Perry as general manager. He will answer to the new big man on campus, president Steve Mills, who is stepping out from under Phil Jackson’s shadow. Perry hasn’t had much time to actually enjoy his arrival to the largest sporting mar-

ket in the United States considering there is an enormous issue that still needs to be addressed this offseason. Yes we’re looking at you, Carmelo Anthony. The veteran superstar’s future with the Knicks remains uncertain with every option seeming like a viable one with each passing day. Perry and Mills could either buy out the remaining two years, $54 million of his contract, trade him to the Houston Rockets or Cleve-

WHO COULD THE CAVS, ROCKETS REALISTICALLY CALLY OFFER? In terms of star power, these are the two best players each team could offer the Knicks. The problem is that both are power forwards, which would be a foolish deal for the Knicks to make considering Porzingis has the 4 locked down for the next decade. This means a third or fourth team is needed to send Anthony to either Houston or Cleveland.

KEVIN LOVE

WHAT DO WE KNOW?

land Cavaliers —the two teams he said he’d waive his no-trade clause for— or keep him and make the four-year, $71 million signing of Tim Hardaway Jr. look even worse. For a Knicks team trying to rebuild, the best thing they can do is deal Anthony, but they have to make sure they don’t settle and get a sub par return. So let’s try and figure out what the Knicks can do in order to make trading Anthony worthwhile for them at the end of the day.

RYAN R YAN N ANDERSON

The Cleveland Cavaliers and Houston Rockets are the only two teams that Anthony would be willing to waive his no-trade clause for.

WHAT DO THE KNICKS NEED? -Little Need

-Moderate Need

-Major Need

PG

The Knicks have to give 18-year-old Frank Ntilikina time to develop before being given the starting point guard job. Ron Baker and Chasson Randle just won’t cut it. New York needs a veteran point guard that can step in and start immediately in the 2017-18 season.

SG

With three years left on his contract, Courtney Lee probably isn’t going anywhere, which isn’t a bad thing. For a player that can shoot 40 percent from three, Lee doesn’t need to be a goto scorer with Kristaps Porzingis controlling the offense. Just don’t expect him to light up the score sheet.

SF

This is obviously assuming that Anthony will be traded, or else this wouldn’t be an area of concern. When Hardaway was re-signed a few weeks ago, many in the organization saw him as Anthony’s replacement. That’s a ton of pressure to put on a player that’s started just 62 games in four seasons.

PF

Porzingis is the past, present and future of this organization. There is literally nothing else I have to say other than watch out for the unicorn.

C

Willy Hernangomez showed flashes of being a solid starting center in the league, which should lessen the sting of Joakim Noah’s ludicrous contract being wasted away with each passing day. New York’s depth at the position is fine right now once Noah returns as he’ll compliment Hernangomez and Kyle O’Quinn.

WHICH TEAMS CAN ENTER NTER THE DE DEAL AND WHO COULD THE KNICKS GET? Rockets get: SF CARMELO ANTHONY

Cavaliers get: SF CARMELO ANTHONY

Suns get: PF RYAN ANDERSON 2nd-round pick

Pistons get: PF KEVIN LOVE

Knicks get: PG BRANDON KNIGHT 2nd-round pick

Knicks get:PG REGGIE JACKSON ON 2nd-round pick
