What is Jnternship? WHAT IS INTERNSHIP?

NTERNSHIP is above all an opportunity for personal development and service to the world around you.
INTERNSHIP is the perfect gap year investment for young people seeking to grow and expand in capacity and maturity. Internship is a great opportunity for those with time to donate to serving. It is for those who want to be stretched.

INTERNSHIP provides the perfect entry point for any individual with a sense of calling towards full time Church leadership work (especially when combined with studies at METRO’s College of Theological Studies). Internship is a chance to join an energised, professional team environment. METRO is led by an incredibly talented and sacrificial team of individuals. If you are accepted as a METRO intern you will have the privilege to serve these amazing leaders as they serve the church and community. INTERNSHIP is a privilege and an honour (not volunteer work). Anyone with the time to donate can apply for an internship, however, only a select group will be accepted into the programme each year. All you need to apply is time to donate to the process. It may just be you!

Jnternship Expectations INTERNSHIP EXPECTATIONS
TIME LOAD
SUNDAY, MONDAY & (TUESDAY OPTIONAL)
S
undays are our days to serve God’s people and interns are required to serve on a METRO roster every week at one Sunday service. INTERNS can apply for up to four Sundays per year off roster. Mondays are our full staff team day and interns are required to be serving in the office as part of the team from 9am to 5:30pm. An Internship applicant can offer to serve more than the required days if they have time available but Sunday and Monday are non-negotiable prerequisites for all interns regardless of how many other days they are giving during the week. Internship runs from January through to December. INTERNS can apply for up to two weeks leave through the year.
Mid year inta ke
O
ur mid-year intake allows opportunity for a half year internship period. This commences at the midyear retreat and finishes at the same time as the full internship year. Midyear intakes can complete a full year if they wish, staying on until the following midyear intake.
INTERNSHIP EXPECTATIONS (CONT’)
Other T ime Re qu ireme nts INTERNSHIP Retreats: To commence the Internship year all interns are required to attend a (sleep over) retreat with the METRO staff in January. Retreats are one night + one day and conclude on the Monday afternoon after the sleepover. All costs for retreats are covered by METRO. A midyear retreat also takes place in June. All interns must attend these retreats. Christmas Celebrations: Interns are required to attend the Staff & Interns Christmas Dinner held in November/December. Special Events: Interns will be required to serve at the following METRO special events throughout the year. • Encounter services (3 to 4 Saturday afternoons per year) • Easter Outreach • Christmas Spectacular Event (December) • Major outreach weekend (Months vary) • Kingdom Builders Dinners (2 Saturday nights May/November) • Pastors’ School events (these often coincide with Encounter weekends) All specific dates will be provided in advance of the Internship period commencing.
Jnternship Expectations INTERNSHIP EXPECTATIONS (CONT’) MOJO locations: As an INTERN you will be required to serve at one MOJO location per week. There are many to choose from and as an INTERN it would be possible for you to host a location yourself.
Dress code

nterns are required to dress as directed by leadership for certain occasions .
Timekeeping

nterns will be expected to be punctual at all times and will be held to account for tardiness.

he internship is an opportunity to serve in close to key leadership in the life of METRO Church. At all times INTERNS are to maintain the highest standards of respectful attitude in demeanour and communications with METRO Pastors & Leaders. This is one of our most treasured core values and all INTERNS will be held to account for any departure from it.

nterns will be corrected on attitude and behaviour and are required to always respond with a humble heart and a teachable spirit.
