PUBLISHER’S

Happy Holidays. Our latest cover star is a dear friend I have known for years. Kimberly Guilfoyle is smart, beautiful, and never afraid to share her honest opinion- even with a former President of the United States. A broadcaster, former prosecutor, and now a political activist, Kimberly is a proud American who is loyal, fearless, and calm in the eye of the storm. It's no wonder so many people want to know what's on her mind.

This year has been a busy one. We saw the successful roll-out of Metropolitan Palm Beach magazine which featured some incredible covers including Top Doctor Dr. Sherrell Aston, sports legend Jack Nicklaus, and Supermodel turned Supermogul Kathy Ireland just to name a few. Excited that Kathy who has sold over $1B in products in 2021 has included Metropolitan Magazine on her new streaming video platform with the executives of YourHomeTV to help our magazine content reach over 100M households globally. I should mention that another beautiful and intelligent woman, Xen Sams, the host of IheartRadio's "A Moment of Xen," has been invaluable in helping our hard-working editor Adam put Metropolitan Lifestyles all together, while I have been laser-focused on opening a new MedSpa in Palm Beach that will offer regenerative medicine in a gorgeous new space entitled, Advanced Aesthetics.

Grateful for my daughters and friends and associates and for the opportunity to continue to bring the best of the best to our wonderful readers and growing audience. Thank you!

Cheers!

EDITOR’S NOTE

Thanksgiving is a wonderful time of year. The Parade brings New Yorkers out in frosty weather to toss a football and share laughs and friendship. There is much to be grateful for this Thanksgiving, as a city, country, and world. For the staff of Metropolitan, we are grateful for each other and for our readers, friends, and business associates who make all the hard work worthwhile.

I first met Kimberly Guilfoyle years ago in the green room at Fox Business News with some PR clients. Polite, and friendly. Beyond beautiful. Kimberly was the host of Fox Strategy Room. The next time was at a Metropolitan magazine party at Nerai Restaurant where she showed up with her new boyfriend Donald Trump Jr. I made my way over to her and re-introduced myself to Kimberly as Chase's new Editor in Chief and suggested that we feature her on an upcoming cover. She agreed and the next thing I knew I was in her West Side apartment at the Beresford in the summer of 2018 for a photo shoot that involved our publisher and Kimberly's longtime friend Chase Backer, moving furniture around and instructing the camera person Jill Lotenberg and her crew on capturing the perfect shot. This issue marks the third time Kimberly has graced the cover of the magazine.

Supermodel turned Supermogul Kathy Ireland and YourHomeTV are bringing online customers top brands for the holidays and incredible new programming on their new streaming video platform. Metropolitan Cover Star and business contributor Xen Sams and Metropolitan Magazines' other talented contributors are teaming up with Kathy's creative team to launch Metropolitan Lifestyles, a show dedicated to the best of the best (Like Chase's beautiful new MedSpa in Palm Beach, Advanced Aesthetics). Excited for our loyal and new readers to get an inside look at how we assemble our magazines and for them to learn more about the various thought leaders, top brands, and businesses we spotlight in the magazines. One business I am particularly excited to spotlight is Adam Kluger Public Relations (www.adamklugerpr.com)which is celebrating our 20th year (gulp!) of excellence, creativity, and integrity. I am so thankful for my family and friends, our team members over the years, strategic partners, clients, and stakeholders for the opportunity to work together and develop lifelong friendships while helping others. And of course, thank you, Chase. An amazing publisher and friend.

FIRST LONG ISLAND

INVESTORS

First Long Island Investors, LLC, founded in 1983, is an independent, employeecontrolled full-service wealth management company, which focuses on achieving client investment goals to develop individualized investment plans.

Most people are not taking travel for granted anymore due to the impact of the pandemic. Numerous clients at First Long Island Investors, consisting of high-net-worth individuals and families are seeking out and going on vacations that provide unique, immersive experiences such as educational travel, expedition tours, adventure travel, and personalized trips. Our clients love to travel, desire to experience life, and want to be financially responsible as well. Our team of professionals assists clients to ensure travel expenses are appropriately budgeted as it relates to their financial plan and long-term investment goals. Working alongside our clients, we develop financial plans and strategies to meet liquidity needs, plan for taxes and estates, implement legacy and philanthropic initiatives, and consider broader life goals. Each client has unique challenges and objectives, which is why we strive to understand these goals so we can help our clients accomplish them, make their lives easier, and provide financial peace of mind.

Those clients whose travel dreams have become a reality are comforted knowing they have the financial flexibility to pursue a deeper, more enriching life. Establishing a level of trust with our clients is the key to making this possible. We’ve earned that trust in a unique way, by investing our own assets alongside theirs, thus when we say we understand our client's objectives, it is because we share them ourselves. My colleagues and I at First Long Island Investors have had a fondness for travel-related experiences. We have also shared our personal satisfaction with contributing to a client’s dream destination vacation becoming a reality.

Personally, I’ve been fortunate to have completed my goal of visiting all seven continents. I’m thankful for experiences that have spanned the globe, ranging from enjoying a Yankee game in the Bronx with the family, on safari in South Africa, scuba diving the Great Barrier Reef in Australia, visiting the Colosseum in Rome, witnessing the Great Wall in China, observing the beauty of Iguazu Falls in Argentina to hanging out with penguins in Antarctica. Experiencing the different continents has enabled me to better

42 Metropolitan Magazine | metmagny.com 25A

understand and appreciate the diverse cultures in the world around me. The best part of this goal is the journey along the way as traveling opens up your world, transforming and enabling you to grow personally and professionally. I believe traveling allows you to develop empathy and understanding, travel experiences are valuable in connecting with a wide variety of friends, family, colleagues, and clients.

An empathetic, holistic approach to wealth management does indeed resonate and establish a personal connection with our clients. Our clients can experience the freedom of travel even in uncertain times knowing and believing in our long-term approach to investing and wealth management, with the goal of preserving, managing, and growing their net worth. With the proper financial planning in place, clients can better understand their ability to maintain a certain lifestyle under a wide range of market conditions. Foremost on investors’

minds are rising interest rates, inflation, a possible recession, and the pandemic that continue to impact global economies. We believe that uncertainty, whether it be economic, political, or company-specific, causes investors to shorten their time horizons and ignore the longterm fundamentals of quality companies. When company-specific fundamentals are appreciated in the market again, our portfolio companies should perform well. A prudent asset allocation and a buffer of cash is our prescription for weathering the complexity of the current investment environment. Over the long term, earnings growth and increasing dividends have led to an appreciation in assets that’s benefitted our clients for many years. We expect that this will continue to enable our clients to achieve both their investment and personal goals.

EAST END DINING FAVORITE

Old Stove Pub

OPENS IN NEW YORK CITY

The iconic Hamptons dining staple Old Stove Pub has opened in New York City with the distinguished restaurant opening its doors at 1076 First Avenue in Midtown Manhattan at 59th Street this Fall. Whilst in many cases the trend has been for New York Restaurants to open an outpost in the Hamptons Old Stove Pub, which has been the local go-to dining destination for over 50 years in the Hamptons, is sure to establish itself as a new hotspot cocktails and dining destination in the neighborhood.

The menu boasts quite a medley of delectable dishes including, but not limited to, entrees like their savory prime steaks, succulent rack of lamb, and juicy roasted chicken; the freshest seafood plates such as branzino, salmon, scallops, and jumbo shrimp; a raw bar featuring fresh plump oysters and jumbo shrimp; and delicious sides like their creamed spinach and roasted cauliflower.

Owner Joseph DeCristofaro has brought the Old Stove Pub to New York City in 2022, at the perfect time as the Big Apple is re-establishing itself as the world's dining capital. For good reason, the successful eatery is legendary among culinary aficionados in the east and has attracted a regular clientele of celebrities, CEOs, families, and first dates.

The welcoming atmosphere DeCristofaro has created complements the needs of the foodie while

appreciating the value of an incredible atmosphere. The new Manhattan location offers quality steaks and entrees that will rival the best steakhouses in the city, as well as an immaculate setting with a comfortable dining room and outdoor seating.

With dinner service running daily on Tuesday through Sunday, guests can enjoy the steakhouse that carries a Mediterranean flair plus a full bar and specialty cocktail menu. Old Stove Pub will offer more than 20 wines by the glass, daily Happy Hour specials beginning at 4:00pm with a special bar menu and an extensive house martini and cocktail list. Plans do include opening for Brunch on Saturday and Sunday later this month.

Born and raised in Southampton, and part time Upper East Side resident, Joey DeCristofaro is a restauranter as well as a notable real estate developer. With an aptitude for home renovation and design, he quickly put together a team to revitalize the iconic Hamptons eatery and before long it was better than the original and has now brought that same focus and determination to Midtown Manhattan as Old Stove Pub will be a destination for foodies and locals alike.

With delightful entrees for dinner to fun and family-oriented brunches with live music, the new venue on First Avenue is sure to shine above the competition.

INTERVIEW WITH

MICHAEL LESSING

PRESIDENT & COO, LESSING'S HOSPITALITY GROUP

"Our mission is to continue the 130-year tradition of innovation and excellence, providing unique restaurant concepts, exclusive wedding venues, distinctive catering, and skillfully executed management," offers a friendly-but obviously quite busy-- Michael Lessing, President of Lessing's Hospitality Group

The hospitality conglomerate was founded by Maxwell Lessing in 1890 and is operated to this day by 15 Lessing family members. “The company has been going strong for six generations with most recently my son, Mike Jr. and my cousin Lawrence, coming on board.” Lessing says.

The secret to the Lessing family's success?

"We've always focused on being a family business, says Lessing, "and we've built a culture that ensures you don’t have to have the last name ‘Lessing’ to be a part of the family.”

The Lessing family has provided food service to New Yorkers for over 130 years without interruption. Both the longevity and the success of this legacy company are unprecedented. For Michael, upholding and building upon the family legacy is a serious business that requires an extreme attention to team building and corporate culture.

"I have a great team around me. There's an incredible responsibility to running the family business and it's not just about keeping the business alive. It's about growing and diversifying. My job is to develop the company to be bigger and stronger so the next generation can continue to build the legacy."

Lessing's expanded their portfolio to Florida with the Pelican Club, Crane Club at Tesoro, Charlie & Joe's at Love Street, and most recently the Kravis Center for the Performing Arts.

"My family and I spend a lot of time in Florida, so the connection was already there,” Lessing says. “We noticed many people visiting from New York and realized our name is well known in the area. Pelican Club and the four restaurants at Charlie & Joe’s at Love Street in Jupiter all overlook a historic lighthouse. I don’t think there’s a better view in all of Florida.”

In 2021, through a partnership with Ellen Hart Sturm in New York City, Lessing’s Hospitality now operates the world-famous Ellen's Stardust Diner & The Iridium. The company is currently comprised of over 100 locations throughout the Northeast and Florida. Lessing’s operates 21 wedding and catering venues, 20 full-service restaurants, 2 pop-up kitchen concepts, over 60 corporate and academic dining centers, and a historic inn.

No matter the state or venue, Lessing’s Hospitality Group always strives to make sure that every employee and guest feels like family.

WITH PURPOSE, HUMILITY, AND TRADEMARK GLAMOUR

KIMBERLY GUILFOYLE

TAKES PALM BEACH

How was the recent Metropolitan magazine cover shoot?

Working with Publisher Chase, a longtime friend with whom I have collaborated on numerous photoshoots and his outstanding creative team was lots of fun. Chase has an exceptional eye for fashion and photography which is evident every single time we work together. I loved wearing, and working with, the fabulous fashion designer Oscar Lopez who is also a dear friend, a Cuban American designer, whose pieces demonstrate his appreciation for dance, ballet, music, and theater. His collections are sexy and special.

Chase and Oscar are a home run team! And Metropolitan Magazine is always a must read and a must see for its beauty and exceptional content.

52 Metropolitan Magazine | metmagny.com 25A
December 2022 53

Last time on the cover you were sporting incredible jewelry from David Birnbaum and Rare1, who were you wearing this time around?

For this cover, I wore jewelry from Provident Jewelry. Provident has locations in the chicest Florida markets, and these pieces came from their boutique in Jupiter. One of the partners, Nick Linco, is not only a friend, but also a giving community partner. Nick had the most gorgeous stones and jewels for the shoot. I am particularly in love with the sapphires! Florida is my home and to showcase talented, passionate entrepreneurs and companies from our community is very important to me.

That last cover shoot in New York City was also really fun. How's Florida?

The photoshoot in New York was lots of fun which we shot in my former apartment at the Beresford. It is a special place. And it is a special city which was my home for many years.

Don and I are full-time Florida residents – and we love every moment being here. We relocated our entire families, and it is a joy being close to everyone -- Eric and Lara are nearby, Jared and Ivanka are in Miami as are Tiffany and Michael. And, of course, President Trump, Melania and Barron are in Palm Beach, at their beautiful home, Mar-a-Lago.

What you may not know, before we became permanent residents, we spent many happy times as a family in Palm Beach – during spring breaks and all the holidays, Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas. There is a natural level of familiarity and warmth which made the full-time transition much easier and welcome. One day, Don and I looked at each other, and said: “Let’s make the move.”

54 Metropolitan Magazine | metmagny.com 25A

What makes you and Don Jr. a great team?

Don and I knew each other for years but, when we went on one date years later that was it. Sparks. In fact, we have been together from that night on, happily ever after! Just simply, Don and I are a perfect match. We are similar in many ways and beautifully complement one another in other ways, a true yin and yang. We share the same inner passion and fighting spirit.

What people may not know is that I am very traditional, which I learned from my parents. My father adored my mother, and she adored him. He put her on a pedestal, and she respected him tremendously. She was an incredible woman, working hard lovingly teaching children with special needs and coming home to take care of her husband and my brother, Anthony, and me whom she loved more than anything. Tragically we would lose my mother when I was 10 years of age, and my brother was 8. She was only 37. But the impression and the values that she instilled in us will last a lifetime.

I love taking care of Don, the way that I saw my mother lovingly take care of my father. I go out of my way to make sure he has everything he needs – making coffee in the morning, cooking our favorite meals, doing our families laundry, and caring for our home. He appreciates this about who I am, and I respect him, his strength, loyalty, and his undaunted courage. He is truly fearless. We love raising our 6 beautiful children together. My son, Ronan Anthony is my treasure and my greatest joy. I could not be more proud of him as a mother. His middle name is after my father and brother, and my mothers and my favorite saint, Saint Anthony.

I love being an independent career woman and strong female, with my own opinions and passions. Don loves that I am traditional and yet fiercely independent. We are partners in this incredible journey they call life, and I totally love it!

The last few years has been a whirlwind for you!

America is the greatest country in the history of the world. So, every day is a great blessing. I am an optimistic person by nature and love life and live life out loud.

President Trump is my long-time, dear friend of 19 years and he gave up an incredible life by anyone’s measure to fight to save our Country. He sacrificed a great deal for the chance to give back and put Americans first.

And he delivered – the county was thriving by every metric. President Donald J. Trump has been through attack after attack; he handles with a fight for truth. He inspires people, which is a quality of an exceptional leader. Historic, in fact.

What a thrill, from covering it all as a journalist on television to living and experiencing it first hand with a front row seat to American political history. Life on the campaign trail, the thousands of rallies, countless events that I joyfully hosted for President Trump, it was exhilarating and an honor as his Senior Advisor and his National Finance Chairwoman.

You have been very successful in law, media, now politics – clearly you are a leader committed to excellence. You also have spent a lot of time involved with mentoring, how do you find the time and why is that so important to you?

Life is short and precious, and you have to make it count in the best way possible every single day. My mother was born in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico, my father was born in Ennis, County Clare, Ireland. They met in the Mission District in San Francisco, worked hard to provide for their children and humbly appreciated living their American Dream. My father served proudly in the United States Army and my parents gave my brother and me a great education. I miss my parents every day. I strive to honor them in every way possible – their love of family, their sacrifice, and strong faith. When you have been abundantly blessed, it is incumbent upon you to give back. My mother and father always taught me that this life is about other people, it’s about human beings.

Every opportunity in your path; how you handle them is the glory and magic of life. This is why it is so important that young students and professionals have mentors who will inspire and positively challenge, those who teach and lead by example, and understand the importance

J.B. SUGAR OF NO EQUAL ENTERTAINMENT DIRECTS AND PRODUCES SEASONAL

SEQUEL TO “FAITH HEIST”,

“FAITH HEIST: A CHRISTMAS CAPER”

Canadian/American filmmaker J.B. Sugar directs and produces the sequel to “Faith Heist” called “Faith Heist: A Christmas Caper,” an actioncomedy film starring Jonathan Langdon, Eden Cupid, Aaron Poole and Sagine Sémajuste.

The film follows Reverend Benjamin Wright (Langdon) and his “lean on me group” as they come face to face with thieves’ intent on stealing a bejeweled Christmas star on loan to the local mall where they must evade capture and stop the heist to save themselves…and Christmas.

In the Sequel, Monroe Baptist Church has been a staple of the African American community for over a century. Despite a devoted congregation, the building is in disrepair. They turn to a financial advisor who promises a foolproof investment but ends up embezzling the church’s money. The Reverend and a group of parishioners must do the impossible - pull off a heist to get their money back and save the church before it's too late.

“The sequel sees the return of our fantastic ensemble, along with some great new additions, for more heisty hijinks in a story modeled after Die Hard meets Home Alone,” says director, J.B. Sugar.”

“Our film represents a totally different holiday film from what audiences are seeing on the Hallmark and Lifetime Channels during this time of year,” said director, J.B. Sugar. ‘it’s tone is more in the flavor of an independent comedy—we’re really breaking the mold.”

The film was shot entirely at the City Center Mall in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, which is being destroyed and redeveloped in January 2023. The film is produced by J.B.s production company, No Equal Entertainment, which is celebrating its 25-year anniversary in 2023.

The film is the sequel to a multi award-nominated film called Faith Heist (2021), which was nominated for multiple Canadian Screen Awards, the Directors Guild of Canada Awards, and the Canadian Screen Music Awards. The film gained nominations for directing, cinematography, sound editing, production design, original music and screenwriting as well as for best TV movie.

His work is diverse and ranges in genre from drama, to supernatural, to comedy, true crime thrillers, a social justice documentary and children’s series, among others. Most recently, he produced and directed “Don’t Hang Up” starring Wendall Pierce and Lauren Holly as well as “Faith Heist: A Christmas Caper” (2022) and “Faith Heist” (2021) for BounceTV.

He previously directed Hallmark Channel’s original movies “Nostalgic Christmas” and “A Midnight Kiss” as well as produced an investigative social-justice documentary feature film called “The Guardians” for CBC’s D ocumentary C hannel, which had its world premiere at Toronto’s foremost documentary film festival, Hot Docs.

He served as executive producer and directed multiple episodes of the series. GEORGE HARRISON ON GEORGE HARRISON INTERVIEWS AND ENCOUNTERS

Among the Fab Four, fans labeled Paul the cute one, John the smart one and Ringo the lovable one. This left George Harrison with the simplistic role of “The Quiet Beatle”.

In George Harrison on George Harrison: Interviews and Encounters (Chicago Review Press, Aug 4, 2020), Grammy-winning music writer Ashley Kahn dispels this misnomer through Harrison’s own words. Kahn collects and arranges interviews and articles spanning Harrison’s career, from the Beatles’ first radio interview in 1962 to online chats in 2001, the year he passed away. Included is the full breadth of Harrison’s remarkable career, featuring interviews with TV hosts David Frost and Dick Cavett, and noted journalists from Rolling Stone, NME, Billboard, the Village Voice and many more.

Harrison’s words display his true nature, refuting his reputation as an introvert to reveal an artist who wasn’t merely outspoken, but wellspoken, and prescient about topics and ideas that remain relevant today: the role of music and spirituality; social justice and responsibility; humor and humility. Through Kahn’s chronological arrangement, Harrison shares his life story in real time, allowing readers to witness the personal and spiritual growth of an icon.

Kahn’s research unearths rare insights covering the entire spectrum of Harrison’s life: columns written by Harrison for the Daily Express in 1964, his first US interview, which ran in a high-school newspaper in southern Illinois in ’63, a BBC Radio encounter from ’79 with a young

Michael Jackson and conversations with his swami, Sri Prabhupada. In many cases, Kahn discovered interview tapes that were never shared publicly in-full, and includes them here unfiltered, without bias or interpretation. George Harrison on George Harrison does justice to its subject, providing The Quiet Beatle with a platform to be heard.

Harrison’s interviews and correspondences illuminate the impact of his legacy beyond music. He was a pioneer in using celebrity to advocate for those in need, a champion of multicultural collaboration and a dedicated leader of his film company. His words, delivered raw and direct, reveal the complexity of his character. Wise but at times naïve, sensitive but also self-deprecating, and always refreshingly, unabashedly human.

About the Author:

Grammy-winning author Ashley Kahn has received widespread critical acclaim for A Love Supreme: The Making of John Coltrane's Signature Album and Kind of Blue: The Making of the Miles Davis Masterpiece. His other books include The House That Trane Built and, as cowriter, The Universal Tone, Carlos Santana's autobiography. He teaches at New York University, and his articles have appeared in the New York Times, Rolling Stone and other publications.

THE WHITE BLACKS

Following a highly-successful run that was halted in its final days by the outbreak of COVID in March 2020, The White Blacks triumphantly returns to the stage for a limited time, bringing their Production back to Theater for the New City.

Featuring a cast of 18 actors who present a traditional Southern “Creole” family in New Orleans, the play tells the story of Playwright Melanie Maria Goodreaux’s aunties who left the city to “pass for white” and the family left behind.

Told with humor and heart, the playwright exposes a common but largely untold story of “light-skinned” Black people in the South. While set in the seventies, audiences recognize modern themes of what constitutes “enough” when it comes to color and race, “cancel culture,” the path to authenticity, and the complexities of family.

In 1970s New Orleans, a Black “Creole” family is torn apart by members who ‘pass for white’ while others build Black Power and the matriarch clings to racial ideals that are fading fast. Inspired by the playwright’s

own family, the story offers an insider’s look at the common but largely untold story of Southern Creoles— a culture proud of its Black heritage but plagued with grief over those “passing” to flee racism and achieve status and opportunity. Love lives long here in the gumbo of acerbic wit, romance and pain, abandonment and longing, hiding, personal authenticity and the complexities of “coming home.”

The cast of The White Blacks includes; Justine J. Hall*, Kristina Rose King*, Marsha-Ann Hay*, Christine Sloan Stoddard*, Tiffany Adams, Christian Miranda, Hollie Harper, India Stachyra, Carlos Carrillo, Danielle Hauser, Dave Baez, Linda Greene, Anthony Harper, Albert Elias, Fernanda Garcia, Dan Kelley, Jonathan Duran, Stacey Griffin, Jada Bennett and Alex Yuille (*Appearing Courtesy of Actors Equity).

Co-Producers of The White Blacks are Mark Holloway, Issa Okamotoa and Nadya Okamoto.

ASYA GEISBERG GALLERY

Marjolijn de Wit

"Sorry for the Damage"

October 27 - December 17, 2022

sya Geisberg Gallery is pleased to present “Sorry for the Damage” by Marjolijn de Wit, an exhibition of oil paintings by the Netherlands-based artist. Exuberant and lush, the paintings are in a relatively small scale for the artist, whose oeuvre includes larger canvases and floor installations, as well as collage based works that are inspired by or incorporate ceramic pieces. In her third solo exhibition, De Wit hones in on the startling disconnect between the advertising and the editorial content of National Geographic magazines from the 1970’s and 80’s. Seen from the vantage point of our time, the articles and imagery that promote the wonders and diversity of the earth are negated by a lifestyle bent on our planet’s ruination. Extraction of gems, minerals, or fossil fuels, luxury underpinned by unseen carbon footprints; food delivered from every corner in every season at an environmental cost; these issues have grown more prominent today. Nonetheless, her paintings are not meant to hector. De Wit throws together isolated symbols seamlessly as she adamantly luxuriates in her medium. Her jewel-like paintings flutter their painterly eyelashes at us, coyly cooing into our psyches. Schematic compositions resist clear readings, as each opaque yet aesthetically jarring composition provokes the viewer to parse De Wit’s connections.

AN AFFAIR WITH SKINCARE

Fachie Market was created in 2020 by 15 year skincare expert Lauren Fache (Fachie) while working in her Miami formulation lab. Being surrounded by luxury skincare, and as a skincare manufacturer (knowing the actual cost to make each item), Fachie set out to create a fair and transparent marketplace. Fachie Market was created as a clean one-stop-shop for all consciously priced skincare and wellness products sourced and created directly by her lab to consumers. Its in-house brand called Fachie features skincare, body care as well as local brands whose ethos align with the new standard.

What makes your products different?

“Being the manufacturer for so many of Amazon’s top sellers, dermatologists, influencers, etc. gave me the understanding necessary to create my own product line which I consider to be of uncompromised quality. When I say “uncompromised”, it means that we always use the highest quality ingredients in our products, regardless of the cost involved in their production. Another unique point is that we develop and manufacture our products in the US, from start to finish, allowing us to control the process and to give you the best quality products on the market.”

How do you connect with your community?

“At Fachie Market, we want to help build conscious communities by supporting and connecting with other clean brands. This is precisely why we align with brands and their founders who share our passion, authenticity, and reflect our genuine love and care for their customers and our planet.

We also have been hosting clean beauty workshops at places like SoHo Beach House, Casa Tua members club, and Life House Hotels. It’s a lovely interactive experience where we set up a long beautiful brunch table and walk women (and men) through curated clean beauty routines for their skin type and explain how it benefits and works for them. It’s wonderful to be able to teach and grow with your customers.”

What makes your company conscious and eco-friendly?

“Our containers are made of recyclable glass, our boxes are hemp, and our packing paper are post-consumer recycled materials. We use either PCR or recyclable materials to leave as little of a footprint as we can on our beautiful planet.

We also donate 1% of our proceeds to one tree planted which is dedicated to global reforestation. Their goal is to plant trees to help restore nature and its biodiversity. They also raise awareness about the importance of trees, offer businesses like ours a simple sustainability solution, and motivate younger generations to do something positive for the environment

INTERVIEW WITH DR. DIANE HILAL-CAMPO FOUNDER OF 20/20 BEAUTY

our products are designed not only to be safe for the ocular surface, but also to give eyes moisture and protection. You’re the first ophthalmologist to have created such a line. Why has it taken so long for a product line like yours to emerge in the marketplace?

Makeup products weren't originally designed to support the wearer's health, merely enhance their beauty. It's only in recent years that we are seeing a dramatic increase in dry eyes in women and also a dramatic rise in ocular complications from poor eye beauty habits, and the link realized by eye doctors. We have been realizing it, and discussing in our conferences, but as doctors it is difficult to be in a position to do anything about it. I was lucky enough to have a patient who was in the industry and helped me to get in touch with the proper team to help me to formulate these products and the brand. I consider twenty/twenty beauty to be part of the next generation of good-for-you beauty.

What motivated you to create Twenty Twenty Beauty?

I've been a board-certified ophthalmologist for over 25 years in my own General Ophthalmology practice in

NJ. In recent years, I have seen a dramatic increase in patients I have been treating with complications from their eye makeup and eye beauty practices, The number of dry eye patients in America has tripled in recent years, and is estimated to be 35 million. Two thirds of these are women. These patients can’t tolerate regular eye cosmetics, and we eye doctors believe that inflammatory toxins in the cosmetics are causing dry eyes. I made products that do not cause dry eyes, and can be tolerated by dry eye patients. Additionally, my products focus on hygiene, so they treat and prevent blepharitis, styes, and dry eye caused by harmful beauty products and practices. Healthy eyes are beautiful eyes; no one should have to choose between safety and style.

When a product description includes ‘ophthalmologist tested’ on its packaging what does that actually mean in terms of product safety?

Ophthalmologist tested means that it's been submitted to clinical testing performed by an ophthalmologist, who has deemed it safe for use in the eye area. I have developed and conducted tests on all of my products, and have had them tested by independent ophthalmologists well.

94 Metropolitan Magazine | metmagny.com 25A

How responsible is the FDA in terms of regulating the product safety of cosmetics in general?

In my opinion, the FDA is being needlessly irresponsible. The EU and Canada hav banned about 1300 hazardous ingredients for use in cosmetics, while fewer than 15 are prohibited from use in cosmetics in the United States. The founders of many brands, myself included, take it upon themselves to avoid these harmful ingredients, but it's time that the FDA reexamined standards for the industry at large. The current standards are from 1938 and have not been changed since that time.

Over 30 million Americans suffer from dry eye disease. Is our excessive dependence on computers contributing to to this epidemic? What are computers actually doing to our eyes? Dry eye disease is caused by many factors, device use being one of them. Think about your habits when scrolling through your phone, working on your computer, or watching television — you blink less frequently, depriving your eyes of essential moisture and nourishment. When you don’t blink as frequently, the oils are not expressed into the tear film and the tears evaporate quicker, drying eyes out. Every twenty minutes of device use, you should take a twenty second break to look twenty feet away — blinking as much as is comfortable — to give your eyes a much-needed break. You can also use preservative free tear drops to lubricate when you are on the computer for long periods of time.

What cosmetic ingredients threaten ocular health? What should the consumer avoid wearing at all costs?

Some ingredients that I won't formulate with due to their hazardous nature include carbon black, a byproduct of petroleum; glitter, loose powders, or loose mica, which can cause corneal abrasion and contaminate the tear film; prostaglandins and prostaglandin analogues, the harmful ingredients in most growth serums; and benzalkonium chloride, which can be damaging to the skin as well as the meibomian glands.

What are the safest eye drops to use?

The best and safest eye drops to use are preservative free tear drops. They can be used as frequently as you want throughout the day with and without contact lenses. They will keep your eyes feeling moist and comfortable, and provide moisture to your eye structures.

Like most women, I have been wearing eye makeup since I was in high school. What are the potential risks of wearing eye makeup over time?

The chemicals especially powders can leach into the tear film and release onto the ocular surface and cause dry eyes. Also pigments can release onto the conjunctival surface and cause pigment tattooing of the conjunctiva. Applying makeup to the waterline and failing to remove your makeup every night can cause permanent damage to

the meibomian glands, leaving eyes feeling perpetually dry, scratchy and irritated. Infections from eye makeup are also quite common, often due to using old product or contaminated products or tools.

Does 20/20 have an eye makeup remover in development? If not, what do you personally use to remove your makeup at night?

Yes, we do have an eye makeup remover coming down the pipeline — stay tuned! Until then I recommend use cotton pads or a microfiber cloth saturated with plant oils like poppy seed oil to remove makeup. They're clean, safe, and gently remove makeup without stripping the eye area.

When will your mascara launch, and what will set it apart from other existing formulations?

I launched my first mascara, Clean Sweep, in April. It is better than other mascaras because it does not have usual allergens like carnauba wax or beeswax that cause eye irritation at the end of the day. I also use a safer preservative than other mascaras, so it is safer for the ocular surface. I have a second mascara launching which will provide a more dramatic result than my first formula, Clean Sweep, which was developed to create a subtle, daytime look. My new mascara is different, it's a tubing formula designed without the hazardous ingredients you'll find in most mascaras. It's gentle and easy to remove — all you need to take it off is warm water — and is safe for sensitive eyes. The two can be worn together to really create a dramatic look.

What are the most important things I’ve can do to prevent eye disease and vision loss?

Practicing proper hygiene is one of the most important things you can do to keep your eyes healthy. I love recommending my Easy on the Eyes face mist to help sanitize the skin, lids and lashes. Avoiding hazardous beauty practices, taking breaks from using technology and wearing contact lenses to keep your eyes oxygenated and hydrated, and wearing sunglasses when outdoors will also help preserve your ocular health. Above all, you should schedule regular, yearly visits to your eye doctor. Checkups with them will allow them to track any changes to your eyes and keep you in good health. We only get one set of eyes — it's critical that you do all you can to preserve them.

ADAM KLUGER PUBLIC RELATIONS

Celebrates Twenty Years of Excellence, Creativity & Integrity

On November 23rd, 2003 Adam Kluger Public Relations launched into unchartered waters with a 300+ person party at Planet Hollywood in Times Square, featuring 6 live bands, costumed characters from Troma films and a mermaid (actress Maria Setaro) wearing a $10,000 rubber tail flown in from Northern California just for the event. AKPR was originally known as Bonehead Public Relations and the name was a perfect fit for a rag-tag bunch who thought outside the box and looked at running a PR firm as part performance art and part intuition. For about a year prior, I had gone back and forth from freelancing as a television writer producer (Fox5NY, MSNBC, E! News) and trying my hand as an independent publicist. One of my first clients in 2002 was a highschool pal who wrote a novelty book called "The Guide to Picking Up Girls" After helping promote the book over the course of a few months, the book peaked on the Amazon Best-Seller list at #77. That was after a second Howard Stern Radio Show appearance and after Jay Leno's producer saw some funny late night commecials we had written/cast and produced for the Guide that Jay featured on The Tonight Show.

Publicity didn't seem that hard. Even kind of creative and fun.

The motto then was "Excellence, Creativity & Integrity." Along the way, we have all been blessed to have developed trusted friendships and life-long relationships that we will always cherish. Here's an old article on AKPR written by New York Times reporter Diana Greenberg...so honored and grateful that all the folks mentioned in this interview are still dear friends and a big part of our inner circle. Thank you all so much! -AK

Adam Kluger recalls picking up garbage in Central Park with his classmates from Horace Mann School as part of a good citizenship project when he was about five years old. The endeavor became much more exciting for him when a TV cameraman started filming the group. He was eager to see himself on the evening news.

“I guess I should have realized then that I would either become a garbage man or work in TV,” he joked in a recent interview in which he talked about the 12 year odyssey of his Manhattan based public relations firm that bears his name (www.adamklugerpr.com) (also known as AKPR). He opened AKPR in November 2003.

Mr. Kluger had more than a decade of media experience before he took on the challenge of running a PR firm. After earning a liberal arts degree from Vassar College, he spent ten years as a writer and producer for CNN. He was also an independent and contract producer for a couple of years, working for major television stations, such as Fox5 , MSNBC and E! News. He revealed that his interest in public relations as a career came to him through a serendipitous encounter.

“A former classmate wrote a self-published book and asked me to help publicize it,” he explained. “I was able to get him 30 placements, including an appearance on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.”

That success led Mr. Kluger to begin his new career. After hosting a party with six bands at Planet Hollywood at Times Square to launch his new

Adam Kluger Public Relations: Over a decade of Big Bottom-Line Results

The motto then was "Excellence, Creativity & Integrity." Along the way, we have all been blessed to have developed trusted friendships and life-long relationships that we will always cherish. Here's an old article on AKPR written by New York Times reporter Diana Greenberg...so honored and grateful that all the folks mentioned in this interview are still dear friends and a big part of our inner circle. Thank you all so much!

firm with the assistance of lighting guru, friend and future client, Bentley Meeker (www.bentleymeeker.com), he got down to business. He surrounded himself with talented leaders who he employs on a contract basis. “We have a rotating staff of about 15 people ranging from senior publicists to interns, depending on my current clients’ needs,” he said. “Our award-winning senior PR Team led by Mark Goldman and Robyn Stevens is among the best in the business–They are efficient, accountable, loyal and they somehow manage to make me look smart every day.” “They honor me daily with their friendship and trust and I am devoted to all of them as on-going strategic business partners.”

With his fluctuating staff, Mr. Kluger has provided multi-dimensional, individualized public relations services for more than 100 clients, averaging about five to 15 clients at a time. His services include a full range of solutions: traditional and social media placements, managing corporate reputation and strategic communications, event management, web design and search engine optimization, and media branding campaigns resulting in improved market share and big bottom-line results.

With a relatively small client base, AKPR is able to give each client maximum time and attention. “My fees are at the boutique PR firm level, but our results are on par or better than larger firms,” Mr. Kluger said. He credits his clients and several mentors for helping him to learn the “art and science” of public relations, as well as the ins and outs of running a small business. Mr. Kluger is thankful for many business mentors, including his client, Brian Drum, CEO of Drum Associates, an executive search firm (www.drumassociates.com), and Jay Levy, a business development advisor who was a recipient of Crain’s New York Business Top Five Entrepreneurs to Watch in New York. (www.uproot. com)

AKPR has provided services for a large variety of clients, from authors, top doctors and CEOs to small and medium-sized businesses. Mr. Kluger is particularly pleased to work with Brain Balance Achievement Centers, which offers a program to help children with ADD/ADHD, dyslexia, or Asperger’s syndrome to overcome behavioral and learning difficulties. The centers have grown in number from five to over 60 with Mr. Kluger’s help. “I am especially devoted to my clients who make the world a better place,” he said.

December 2022 99

One of AKPR’s first clients, Subin Associates, LLP, a personal injury law firm (www.subinlaw.com), has stuck with AKPR through the years as the recipient of abundant media placements. “Adam Kluger Public Relations got us more press coverage in a week than my firm has gotten in 20 years,” said Herb Subin, Esq. He added that Mr. Kluger is a ”pleasure to work with, has great insight, and is a real gentleman.”

Bill Tush, who worked with Mr. Kluger at CNN but is now retired and works as a freelance entertainment journalist, also has been a client with AKPR since the firm’s beginning. “Adam keeps my name out there,” he said. “Sometimes I’ll do four of five media interviews in a row. We’re friends and sometimes I’ll call Adam on Sunday just to say hello, and he’ll start thinking of places to pitch.” PopCap, maker of video games, has been a “huge client” in terms of revenue. AKPR recently pulled out all the stops for the company, with a major broadcast tour, satellite radio tour, and celebrity Twitter campaign. (www.popcapgames.com)

Mr. Kluger defines success for his clients as “achieving their goals” – whether they are media placement, web design, branding, or any mix of PR objectives. He affirmed that the most important measure of success is getting big bottom-line results. He is more philosophical about his own success. He said, “It has been a challenge to keep the business going, especially during the recession.” He offered an analogy: “My team and I have been in the eye of the hurricane, but we’ve been in a lifeboat where everyone is equal, and we’ve

discovered how to manage and get through the storms.” Kluger adds, “if it wasn’t for my family and good friends having my back during the tough times–I never would have made it this far or for this long.”

“One rule in our office is that we treat each other with kindness and respect,” Mr. Kluger said. He also allows his young internal staff to be independent and work the way they see fit. He joked, “Everyone is their own boss, and I’m their assistant.”

On a more serious note he said, “The secret to being a good leader is to be a good role model, to care about people, and to help them realize their potential and achieve their goals.” Lauren Shepland, who worked at AKPR as a publicist and office manager for about a year while she was a student at Sacred Heart University, said she has Mr. Kluger to thank for her landing a “fantastic job” at Bridgewater Associates, the world’s largest hedge fund, upon her graduation. “Working for Adam was a great experience,” she said. “I learned about the tools and work skills I needed for a PR position.”

Currently an event manager at a popular hotel, Karina Mkrtchian said she “learned everything about public relations from working at AKPR,” adding, “Adam would say, ‘I’m here to help you find and release your inner greatness.’ I always thought that sounded kind of cheesy, but I realized he was absolutely right. Adam helped me discover what I was good at and use it to the best of my abilities.”

That was also true for Bernadette Marciniak, who started working at AKPR as an intern when she was a student at Montclair State

100 Metropolitan Magazine | metmagny.com 25A

University, eventually becoming a publicist handling social media, design work, and photography. She said Mr. Kluger noticed that she had artistic talent and helped her to develop it. She went on to work as a photographer for North Jersey Media Group, owner of the Bergen Record, but she still works for AKPR as a freelance photographer and publicist. “

“I’m really proud of all the members of our inner-circle over the past 12 years– Millenials may lack experience– but they are also tech-savvy super-stars, who are smart and tough. I like to be surrounded by young people who are unafraid to take risks, to develop new skills and offer a fresh perspective. That ethos has always been vital to who we are as a company.”

Mr. Kluger also gave some thought to his own job satisfaction. “Like journalists, public relations practitioners usually work on a deadline, and every day is different. You find structure out of chaos, and you tell a story, solve a problem. There is a feeling of pride in that. Then the next day is new again, and you’re challenged again, meeting new people, solving new problems.” “Ultimately, it’s my job to help people–and nothing beats that.” Mr. Kluger would not give any definite predictions about the future of his company, but he said, “I hope that if my sevenyear-old son Robbie reads this article in the future he will know I believe that my greatest accomplishment is being his Dad.”

Asked if he would like Robbie to choose public relations as a career, Mr. Kluger replied, “I want him to be happy, to do something worthwhile, and to share his talents and joy with the world. I want his motivation to be love. The reason anything is worth doing is because of love.”

“Working on “A MoMent of Xen” continually expands my worldview. Xen has created a platform in which every field collides in a foolproof, educational and entertaining manner where both herself and her guests bring a massive amount of knowledge to the table. I am lucky to act as both a viewer and member of this show.” - Maygan Thompson

MAYGAN THOMPSON

Maygan Thompson is an award winning filmmaker currently serving as Supervising Producer and Editor on the iHeartRadio show “A MoMent of Xen”, a multi-platform show centering around indulgent discussions with host, icon, and millennial mom, Xen Sams, and a crew of diverse guests that build out a complex pool of knowledge on film, fashion, pop-culture, cannabis, health, fintech, and cryptocurrency (Saturday nights 9-10 p.m. EST on 710 WOR / The Voice of New York / iHeartRadio).

The Brooklyn based, Vermont raised head of all things post production is far from new to the world of non-scripted content– compounding her formal education at the Savannah College of Art and Design, and over half a decade’s worth of professional experience, with an in-depth love of the ever evolving world of doc and otherwise human narratives. Thompson has most recently taken home the award for Best Commercial from the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, in addition to being nominated for Best Editor and Best Director for her branded content work (co-writer, producer, director and editor).

Life is all about the connections you make and those connections can be made in a variety of beautiful ways, even through the cutting of video. Working on “A MoMent of Xen” has given her the opportunity to meet an incredible array of individuals with an endless amount of knowledge within a diverse group of topics. She’s worked with top influencers, CEOs, experts, brand ambassadors, and most importantly strangers who no longer feel like strangers because of the countless hours she has spent with their words and stories. She finds herself energized by the neverending cycle of guests and constant excitement of building a new connection.

While she’s built a vast portfolio in narrative, documentary, and commercial work she finds herself most passionate in the cutting room working with the incomplete sentences, rambling, and plethora of “uhs” and “ums” of real people telling real stories. Growing up she first became involved with video as an editor at her local public access channel where she discovered the magic of finding her own voice in other’s voices. As an editor she aims to find a unique yet seamless way to weave together the stories those around her intend to tell. Just as watching a film is a journey, the process of editing one is a similar journey within itself; full of conflict yet, ultimately, resolution. She finds being in such a pivotal role as she dictates the viewers’ own personal journey with the film to be both an honor and trust she recognizes as nothing short of special. Inquisitive, energetic, and bound for exponential success, it should go without saying that Maygan Thompson is one to watch out for on the other side of the screen.

INSPIRING CHILDREN MENTAL TRAINING

Over the last 21 years, the No Quit Tennis Academy has been developing nationally-ranked tennis players out of one of the most underserved areas in Las Vegas. Although Nevada’s public educational system is ranked 49th out of 50 states, graduating players have attended every Ivy League school, plus Stanford, USC, Oxford, Cambridge and more. They do this without state-of-the-art facilities - in fact, most of the lessons take place in a public park.

How do they do this? One major piece is mental training, and their partnership with a mental health nonprofit called the Inspiring Children Foundation, co-founded by Grammy nominated singer-songwriter Jewel.

“What we set out to do, because there was a huge need, was to teach children not only how to hit a tennis ball, but how to master their relationship with themselves, their diet, sleep, friends, parents, and emotions. We give them a psychology for life” says academy founder and Foundation co-founder Ryan Wolfington.

Unsurprisingly, this formula creates champions on the tennis court. Players from No Quit have won over 300 sectional titles, 4 NCAA titles, and many professional titles. 8 of their players have been ranked #1 in the U.S. But if you ask them, their true victory has nothing to do with tennis. Just as players’ mental progress leads to excellence on the tennis court, their efforts on the court lead to tremendous emotional and mental growth.

19-year-old player Cole Brashear knows this well: “When you're put in a competitive setting, where it's just you and one person across from you, all of your emotions come out in the most obvious way possible. So as a sensitive little boy, I felt extremely pressured in those instances. Eventually, I quit the sport when I was 15 years old.”

After quitting the sport, Cole tried to take his own life multiple times. Luckily, his coach noticed him struggling, and recommended he join the Inspiring Children Foundation’s annual mental health retreat.

“I didn't think it was okay to cry as a male. But [the Foundation’s] attitude was that I should take a hard look at what I was going through, and talk about it. I should try and acknowledge it, because that's really the best way to deal with it. So I did, and I started playing tennis again. I started learning how to love competition. I started learning how to love anxiety. I started learning how to love battling.”

Although it doesn’t reflect the old school mentality of “toughness”, players like Cole develop a certain grittiness through their healing journeys. They learn how to become successful, as well as happy, healthy whole humans.

“Without tennis” says Cole, “I would not be half the person that I am.”

The Inspiring Children Foundation is holding an online fundraiser to make mental health tools more accessible. To participate, please go to NotAloneChallenge.org .

Lorraine Silvetz, MSW, Director of Mental Health Services at Mommy’s Heart and Executive Director of Global Stress Initiative under the auspices of the International Committee Against Mental Illness (ICAMI) announced, during the evening, the positive results

received by a Mommy’s Heart client after a one month's treatment for PTSD utilizing their non-invasive protocol, individualized transcranial magnetic stimulation (iTMS). This treatment, valued at over $12,000, is administered at a Global Stress Initiative clinic affiliate in Syosset, New York, five days a week, for 40 minutes each day and includes 3 EEGs or brain scans in the first month of treatment. In their experience, they've had 99% efficacy treating PTSD for the military, domestic violence and other survivors of trauma.

“I am proud to be on the board of a nonprofit that is much needed in America today. Not only does domestic violence need to end, but the court needs to stop re-victimizing us,” said board member Noelle Dunphy.

Actress Julianne Michelle (Reeves Stroh), LMSW, founder and executive director of Mommy’s Heart, urged guests to please reach into their heart and their wallet to donate what they could afford to give to this 501(c)3 that hits close to home, as many board members suffered from domestic violence or had parents who abused or neglected a spouse or the children. “There are so many wonderful causes. However, our children here at home are in crisis, and we need to take action now. Failure is not an option. We are so grateful to Assemblywoman Rebecca Seawright and DA Charles Guria for their support and attendance. We are so grateful to all those who donated to our cause.”

The evening raised significant funds for abused and neglected children and families.

Global Lyme Alliance (GLA), the leading nonprofit dedicated to conquering Lyme and other tick-borne diseases held the GLA GLOBAL GALA 2022 at Cipriani 42nd Street in New York City.

The event raises Lyme disease awareness and funds for research to improve diagnostics and treatments and ultimately find a cure for Lyme and other tick-borne diseases. The spectacular and one-of-a-kind gala was a night to remember for invited celebrities, business leaders, and top scientists alike.

The Global Lyme Alliance (GLA) is the leading 501(c)(3) dedicated to conquering Lyme disease through research, education, awareness and patient services. GLA has gained national prominence for funding some of the most urgent and promising research while expanding education and awareness programs for the general public and physicians. PROSTATE CANCER FOUNDATION NEW YORK GALA RAISES $4M FOR PATH-BREAKING CANCER RESEARCH PROGRAMS

The Prostate Cancer Foundation (PCF) 26th Annual New York Dinner took place at Restaurant Daniel in New York City, raising $4 million to support its research programs.

The Prostate Cancer Foundation (PCF) is the world’s leading philanthropic organization dedicated to funding life-saving prostate cancer research. Founded in 1993 by Mike Milken, PCF has raised close to $1 billion in support of cutting-edge research by more than 2,200 research projects at 245 leading cancer centers in 28 countries around the world. Thanks in part to PCF’s commitment to ending death and suffering from prostate cancer, the death rate is down by over 50% and countless more men are alive today as a result. PCF research now impacts more than 73 forms of human cancer by focusing on immunotherapy, the microbiome, and food as medicine.

The end-of-the-year benefit supported PCF’s programs and celebrated the millions raised and achievements made in the past quarter-century through the PCF. The charitable organization founded by Michael Milken is dedicated to identifying and funding groundbreaking cancer research programs.

The memorable evening welcomed leaders in medicine, top research scientists, and distinguished New York City socialites. The gala began with a lively cocktail reception and the lavish dinner party with Master Mentalist Oz Perelman gave way to a special musical performance from Idina Menzel.

Michael Milken and Charles Ryan’s update on the work of the Foundation encompassed the on-going work of the PCF’s Young Investigator (YI) program as well as the PCF’s inaugural TACTICAL (Treatment According To Intercept Cancer Lethality) Awards which aim to develop new therapies against the most life-threatening forms of prostate cancer.

Additionally, the Home Run Challenge (HRC) partnership with Major League Baseball (MLB)

was highlighted, which has participation from every MLB Team of which some of the team owners (Larry Baer (San Francisco Giants), Jerry Reinsdorf (Chicago White Sox), Thomas Ricketts (Chicago Cubs), Mark Walter (LA Dodgers) and long-time PCF Ambassador (and former New York Yankees Manager) Joe Torre were present.

Idina Menzel rose to fame for her role as ‘Maureen’ in the popular Broadway musical RENT, and her career took off when she won a Tony Award for her role as ‘Elphaba, the Wicked Witch of the West,’ in the smash musical, WICKED. She will reprise her leading role as ‘Elsa’ in the highly anticipated release of Disney’s Frozen 2 in November and join Adam Sandler, Eric Bogosian, Lakeith Stanfield and Judd Hirsch in the Safdie Brothers’ A24 film Uncut Gems. Notable attendees included: Michael Milken, Charles Ryan, Daniel Boulud, Master Mentalist Oz Perelman, Special Musical Performer Idina Menzel, Rob Citrone, Cindy Citrone, Thomas Ricketts, Cliff Robbins, Darius Bikoff, Andrew Tisch, Ann Tisch, Mark Walter, Jerry Reinsdorf, Joe Torre, Ali Torre, Larry Baer, Larry Leeds, Ginger Leeds, Eric Schmidt, John Paulson, Alina de Almeida, Jill Bikoff, Neil De Feo, Sandy De Feo, Igor Tulchinsky, Tom Lee, Daria Barry and Bonnie Pfeifer Evans.

Oz Perelman’s unique blend of mentalism and mind-reading create an interactive experience that redefines the very nature of a magic show. Oz has appeared on a variety of both national and international networks including NBC’s Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, The TODAY Show & ABC World News plus has been profiled in Forbes and The New York Times, to name a few.

Ed Schloeman, Chairman and CEO of Operation Warrior Shield commented on the aims of the organization, “Our goal is to provide specially trained, loving and supportive canine companions to veterans and first responders and their families who live with physical and emotional injuries incurred during their time in service." Bethann Carbone, CSO of Operation Warrior

Shield explains, "We developed Operation Canine Companion because veterans are committing suicide every day. We know how important healing from trauma is. OWS' Operation Canine Companion pets provide safety, camaraderie, unconditional acceptance, and a unique emotional support that helps reduce the stress and challenges that our heroes face every day."

The evening commenced with a cocktail hour and silent auction before the start of the program led by the Chairman of OWS, CMSgt (Retired) Edward Schloeman Sr. Opening the ceremony was the USMC Color Guard from 1st Marine Corps District and an invocation by Monsignor Hilary Franco, who has had the distinction of serving six Popes.

There were presentations on the importance of supporting the work of the charity to help reduce suicide risk amongst veterans by Paul Bucha, Congressional Medal of Honor recipient. Deputy Inspector Mark Wachter and Lt. Col. Wilem Wong of NYPD Health & Wellness discussed the challenges faced by first responders. A live auction by Auctioneer Rudy Saviano sought to raise funds to help provide trained dogs to veterans.
