Cómo llegar Desde Chile a) En Vehículo Desde El Norte

Por la carretera 5 Sur, pasando por Santiago, Chillán, Temuco, Freire, Villarrica y Pucón. Si la opción es ahorrar tiempo y saltarse Temuco, toma el by pass, a la altura de la ciudad de Lautaro, saliendo directo al pueblo de Metrenco, donde nuevamente se retoma la carretera 5 Sur. Pasarás por el peaje de Quepe, y posteriormente en Freire donde puedes recargar bencina y tomar la rotonda con destino a Villarrica-Pucón.

Desde el Sur

Desde Puerto Montt a Pucón debes tomar la Ruta 5 Sur, pasarás por las afueras de Osorno, Los Lagos, Valdivia, Lanco y pasado Loncoche, encontrarás el desvío hacia la derecha de la carretera, debidamente señalizado, por donde llegarás a Villarrica –Pucon.

b) Avión

En temporada alta, fines de diciembre a fines de Febrero hay vuelos directos desde Santiago – Pucón, vía Lan Chile y Sky airline. Estos vuelos llegan hasta el aeropuerto que queda a sólo 5 kms. del centro de la ciudad balneario. Desde allí te puedes trasladar en taxis o colectivos de acercamiento.

Durante temporada baja, los vuelos llegan hasta Temuco (Aeropuerto Maquehue) ubicado a 110 kms de Pucón. Desde ese aeropuerto hay salidas en transfer previamente concertado con agencias de Turismo. De lo contrario, deberás tomar algún taxi de acercamiento al Terminal de buses Jac de Temuco y desde allí, tomar un bus con destino a Pucón.

c) Bus

Las salidas desde Temuco son cada 30 minutos, y 15 min. en temporada alta. El traslado es de 2 horas de duración por una carretera expedita.

Las empresas que llegan directo y que entregan un buen servicio son Tur Bus, JAC, Pullman Sur, Cóndor Bus, Jet Sur e Inter Bus. Desde Santiago

salen buses con destino directo a Pucón. Se recomienda como horario de salida las 21:00 hrs, arribando a Pucón alrededor de las 8:00 hrs de la mañana. (Son 11 horas de viaje aprox.).

Desde Argentina Paso Mamuil Malal

Este espectacular cruce de la cordillera de los Andes, es el paso más cercano a Pucón y la mejor alternativa para quienes vienen desde San Martín de los Andes, tomando la carretera hacia Junín de los Andes y paso internacional Mamuil Malal.

zan las faenas de asfalto hasta el pueblo de Curarrehue. Desde allí sólo distan 40 kms. a Pucón.

Paso Hua Hum

Paso fronterizo no muy transitado, pero que permanece abierto durante todo el año. Su espectacular atractivo radica en el cruce del Lago Pirihueico, por medio de un moderno transbordador que conecta ambas naciones en una y media hora de navegación.

Este servicio de transbordador tiene un valor aproximado en pesos chilenos de $12.000 por auto y $1.000 los pasajeros excepto choferes y niños menores de 12 años. En temporada alta (15 dic. a 15 de marzo) cruza 3 veces por día. En temporada baja (16 de marzo a 14 de dic.) cruza 1 vez por día. Los horarios se pueden consultar en www.panguipulli.cl.

Desembarca en Panguipulli, la ciudad de las rosas, y desde allí toma nuevamente la carretera 5 sur y pasado Loncoche, encontrarás el desvío hacia la derecha de la carretera, debidamente señalizado, por donde llegarás a Villarrica –Pucón.

Paso Pino Hachado

Para quienes vienen desde Neuquén, lo más cercano es el Paso Pino Hachado. Por este paso llegarás hasta Lonquimay. Se cruza pasando por el Túnel las Raíces, sigue el camino hasta Curacautín y posteriormente Lautaro, Temuco, Villarica y Pucón.

Paso Cardenal Samoré

Si vienes de Bariloche o Villa la Angostura, puedes cruzar a Chile por el paso internacional Cardenal Samoré, (ex Puyehue) por allí se llega hasta Puyehue, luego Osorno donde podrás tomar la carretera 5 Sur con destino a Pucón.

From Argentina

a) By Car

From the North

Paso Mamuil Malal

Taking the highway 5 Sur, via Santiago, Chillan, Temuco, Freire,Villarrica and Pucon. If you want to save time and avoid Temuco, take the bypass near Lautaro city, taking the exit to the town of Metrenco, where the highway 5 Sur can be retaken. You will pass by the Quepe toll control station and later on at Freire where you may recharge gas and take the roundabout towards Villarrica-Pucon.

This spectacular Andes crossing, is the nearest border pass to Pucón and best option for those coming from San Martín de lo Andes, by taking the highway to Junin de los Andes and to the Mamuil Malal border. (Only open until 20:00). From there on the way is pretty straightforward, but you will see how the pavement works come along until the town of Curarrehue. From there it is only 25 miles (40 km). to Pucon.

From the South

From Puerto Montt to Pucon you must take the 5 Sur route, and you will pass by the outskirts of Osorno, Los Lagos,Valdivia, Lanco, and after passing Loncoche you will find a signposted deviation to the right of the highway, which will lead you toVillarrica-Pucon.

Paso Hua Hum

b) By Plane

This ferry service has a price of approximately $12,000 Chilean pesos per car and the passengers except chauffeurs and children under 12 pay $1,000. During the high season (December 15th to March 15th) it crosses 3 times a day. During the low season (March 16th to December 14th) it crosses once a day.Timetables can be viewed at www.panguipulli.cl.

A less busy border but that stays open throughout the year. Its main attraction is a modern ferry that connects both nations in a one and a half hour sail across the Pirihueico lake.

During the high season—end of December till the end of February—there are direct flights from Santiago to Pucon, via Lan Chile and Sky Airline. These flights arrive to the airport, just 3 miles (5 km) away from the center of the balneary city. From there you may take a taxi or colectivo (share taxi.) During the low season, flights go to Temuco (Maquehue Airport) located 68 miles (110 km) from Pucon. From that airport there are departures by transfer shuttle bus, previously arranged by tourism agencies. Otherwise, you should take a share taxi to the Jac de Temuco bus station and from there take a bus to Pucon.

It arrives to Pangupulli, the city of roses, and from there take the highway 5 Sur again and after passing Loncoche you will find a signposted deviation to the right of the highway, which will lead you toVillarrica-Pucon.

Paso Pino Hachao

For those coming from Neuquén, the nearest is the Paso Pino Hachado.Taking this border you arrive to Lonquimay.To cross you take the Tunel de las Raices, follow the road to Curacautín, and later Lautaro and Temuco.

c) By Bus

There are departures from Temuco every 30 minutes, and every 15 minutes during the high season. It is a 2-hour ride on the highway. The bus lines that go direct and deliver a good service are Tur Bus, JAC, Pullman Sur, Cóndor Bus, Jet Sur and Inter Bus. From Santiago there are buses going directly to Pucon.We recommend departing at 21:00, to arrive at Pucon around 8:00 in the morning. (You will be traveling about 11 hours.)

Paso Cardenal Samoré

If you are coming from Bariloche, Villa la Angostura, you will cross to Chile over the border Cardenal Samoré (formerly Puyehue) and through there to Puyehue, later Osorno where you may take the 5 Sur highway to Pucon.

Ubicación Pucón se encuentra ubicado a los pies del majestuoso Volcán Villarrica, en la Novena Región de la Araucanía, a tan sólo 100 km, de su capital regional Temuco y a 870 km de Santiago de Chile. A escasos 90 km. se encuentra el paso fronterizo con Argentina cuyo nombre es Mamuil Malal / Tromen.

Emplazada en la precordillera en medio de lagos, ríos, parques nacionales y termas, esta pequeña y hermosa ciudad se ha convertido en el destino favorito de quienes buscan entretención, adrenalina, descanso, naturaleza y conectividad por nombrar algunas.

El valle cordillerano en donde está ubicado el lago Villarrica, se caracteriza por su perfil en forma de “U”. Éste se formó hace aproximadamente 10.000 años, cuando grandes glaciares al desplazarse socavaron las paredes y fondo de estos valles.

El lago Villarrica se formó por la morrena glaciar, que es la acumulación de sedimentos que son arrastrados al derretirse el glaciar, formando una barrera que detuvo el curso de las aguas. No es el caso de otros lagos, como el Caburga, que fueron formados por erupciones volcánicas.

Para describir una ciudad dinámica como lo es Pucón depende de la estación del año en que se visite. Se puede encontrar con un Pucón apacible y descongestionado desde marzo a noviembre. Centros termales y sus alrededores nevados son paisajes de ensueño que permiten pasear entre la nieve y el vapor de las aguas con sólo un traje de baño puesto.

Con la llegada de las vacaciones de invierno y la apertura de la temporada de nieve vuelve el movimiento a las calles de Pucón, es posible observar un clima montañés. Pero sin duda son las fiestas de fin de año y las vacaciones de verano las que mueven la mayor cantidad de visitantes.

L o c at i on Pucon is situated at the foot of the majestic Villarrica Volcano, in the Ninth Region of Araucania—only 60 miles (100 km) from Temuco (the capital of the region) and 540 miles (870 km) from Santiago de Chile.The border with Argentina, called Mamuil Malal / Tromen, is only about 55 miles (90 km) away.

Positioned at the foothills among lakes, rivers, national parks and hot springs, this small, beautiful town has become the favorite site for those in search of entertainment, adrenaline, relaxing, nature and networking, to name a few.

The mountain valley in which theVillarica Lake is located, is characterized for its “U” shapes profile. It was formed about 10,000 years ago, when large glaciers move and undermined the walls and bottom of these valleys.

The Villarrica Lake was formed by glacial moraine, which is the accumulation of sediments that are carried when the glacier melt, forming a barrier that stopped the course of the waters. It is not the case for other lakes, such as Caburga, which were formed by volcanic eruptions.

The climate is once again mountainlike, and people from all over Chile, Brazil and Argentina come searching for powder snow to glide with skill and style down the skirts of the Villarrica Volcano. But without a doubt it is the NewYear’s celebrations and the summer holidays that bring the largest amount of visitors.

Usefull Tips

Alojamiento : Si quieres aventurarte en fechas de temporada alta, conseguir alojamiento te puede traer más de un dolor de cabeza, o de pies. Puedes encontrar donde quedarte, pero después de varias horas de recorrer en las periferias de Pucón, por lo tanto si quíeres ir en fechas importantes o feriados asegúrate de reservar con anticipación.

Lodgin : If you want to take a chance during high season, be warned that getting accommodation can give you more than one headache, or feet ache! You may find a place to stay, but it might be after several hours of walking around Pucon. Therefore, if you are planning on staying during important dates or holidays, make sure you make a booking in advance.

Clima veraniego : No sólo en Pucón, sino en cualquier ciudad del sur de Chile, necesitas ir preparado para la eventualidad. En pleno verano no está demás un corta viento o una parka y/o polar delgado. No olvidar bloqueador solar y traje de baño.

Summer weather : When traveling to Pucon, or indeed to any city of the south of Chile, you need to be prepared for emergencies. Even in the middle of summer it does not hurt to bring along a wind jacket and / or thin polar jacket. Don’t forget your sun block lotion and swimsuit!

Clima otoño – invierno : Indispensable un gorro para el viento frío, zapatos resistentes al agua, buen polar, o ropa de nieve. Si la idea es subir al volcán, a hacer una caminata con raquetas u otro deporte, puedes arrendar equipo, botas y ropa en la agencias de turismo, incluso antiparras. No olvidar bloqueador solar y crema para los labios.

During autumn and winter : It is vital to bring a hat for the cold wind, waterproof shoes, and a good polar coat or snow clothes. If you are planning to climb the volcano to do snowshoeing, or another sport, you may rent equipment, boots and clothing and even mist-proof glasses at the travel agencies. Don’t forget your sun block lotion and lip balm.

Transportes : Si vas de paseo por los alrededores de Pucón, preguntar siempre el último horario de regreso de los recorridos de buses intercomunales ya que en invierno estos varían según las condiciones climáticas. En verano la frecuencia aumenta, pero el horario de regreso es, a más tardar, a las 20:00 hrs.

Transportation : If you are going to visit the areas near Pucon, always ask about the last available bus because during the winter they vary depending on the weather conditions. During the summer the frequency is higher, but the latest bus coming back is usually at 20:00.

Pesca : Para los pescadores es obligatorio tener su carnet que lo acredita como tal. Si no lo tienes puedes solicitarlo en la oficina de Turismo de la Municipalidad.

Fishing: For those doing fishing it is compulsory to hold a valid license. If you don’t have one you can apply for one at the Tourism office of the municipality.

Agua : Se puede beber agua potable con tranquilidad, pero si no estás acostumbrado y vienes de otro país, se recomienda agua mineral en botella que puedes comprar en cualquier local comercial para evitar malestares de ajuste.

Water : It is safe to drink tap water, but if you are not accustomed and come from another country, you might want to drink bottled mineral water available at any convenience store to avoid any adjustment discomfort.

Deporte y Excursiones Outdoors : Antes de decidir por un tour por la zona o alguna actividad outdoor de mayor riesgo, haz las averiguaciones de seguridad que ofrecen las distintas agencias y decide por aquella que se ajusta a tus expectativas. Si vas a internarte sólo por una ruta poco conocida, siempre debes dar aviso a carabineros.

Volcán Villarica Conocido como Rucapillán, en el lenguaje mapudungun del pueblo Mapuche, que significa casa del espíritu o del demonio.

Pertenece al Cinturón de fuego del Pacífico. Mide 2840 m.s.n.m. está activo y cuenta con 82 erupciones entre 1558 y 1984. Las excursiones se realizan durante todo el año, mientras el clima y el mismo volcán lo permitan. En invierno su cono se observa absolutamente nevado y desde su cumbre se pueden distinguir al menos siete lagos.

En verano queda al descubierto su base de arena volcánica, pero su cumbre permanece intacta, blanca y humeante. En las noches despejadas se puede ver a simple vista como hierve la lava en su cráter.

Villarica Volcano Known as Rucapillan, a Mapuche word in their language Mapudungun, that means house of the sprits or the devil.

It is part of the Pacific Ring of Fire. It is about 9300 feet (2840 m) above sea level, it is active and has erupted 82 times between 1558 and 1984. Excursions are done all year round, as long as weather and volcano allow them During the winter, the volcanic cone is completely covered in snow, and from the summit you can see at least seven lakes.

During the summer the volcanic sandy base is visible, but the summit remains intact, white and fuming. On a clear night you can see with the naked eye lava boiling in the crater.

Es literalmente un paseo bajo la tierra. De origen glacio-volcánica, es decir, que su formación se debe al paso de la lava sobre una gran masa de hielo, que al derretirse dejó una especie de túnel de 400 metros de extensión.

Se puede llegar directamente o a través de agencias turísticas.

La entrada tiene un valor de 10 mil pesos, incluye charla técnica respecto a los procesos volcánicos, equipos de seguridad y un tour guiado por las cuevas.

En el mismo sector se puede realizar otras actividades como canopy y caminatas con raquetas sobre la nieve.

En invierno muchas veces el acceso se tapa de nieve. Se recomienda su vista en épocas con mejor clima pero siempre con ropa abrigada.

Historia La misión militar era resguardar el paso fronterizo con Argentina para lo cual necesitaban construir un fuerte militar como base de apoyo y abastecimiento para las operaciones de campaña previstas en el interior de los Andes, y protegerse de los aborígenes pampeanos y neuquinos que el ejército argentino forzaba a emigrar.

Lo más probable es que ninguno de los miembros del pequeño destacamento enviado en esta misión, imaginó que por el lago que cruzaban a la vista de un enorme volcán humeante, más tarde se convertiría en un pueblo cuyo magnetismo traspasaría fronteras e invitaría a ciudadanos del mundo a disfrutar de sus bondades naturales.

El destacamento enviado desde Villarrica por el Coronel Urrutia, fundador de Pucón en 1883, fue recibido por los principales caciques de lugar: Paillalef, Huaquifil, Epuin, Panguilef y Antinao.

Apellidos que aún prevalecen en la actualidad.

El lugar escogido para construir el fuerte militar, se ubicó donde actualmente se encuentra la plaza principal de Pucón. La Guarnición, como se

llamaba a esta construcción a fines del siglo XIX y principios del siglo XX, fue utilizada como la primera oficina de Aduana.

El tráfico lacustre era la única alternativa para conectar a Villarrica con Pucón. Y fue en el sector de la Poza, lugar donde hoy se encuentra el Puerto Don Santiago, el primer puerto, donde se desarrolló la mayor actividad comercial de la época.

Desde allí se embarcaban grandes cantidades de durmientes con destino a Villarrica y Loncoche.

Para entonces, ya se veían en medio de una abundante vegetación algunas casas y construcciones de las familias colonas que veían oportunidades de desarrollo en un pueblo que poco a poco estaba naciendo a punta de sacrificio y mucho esfuerzo.

Pero no todo era trabajo, las carreras de caballo eran actividades entretenidas durante el día y de noche, la diversión continuaba en la casa de fiesta de la Gringa Pobre, la Chela Flaca o las Plumaris para matar las largas y frías noches de invierno.

En 1940 se inauguró el camino que conecta con Villarrica. Esto permitió mayor afluencia de visitantes muchos de los cuales finalmente se quedaron para siempre atraídos por el paisaje y su potencial comercial.

Sin duda la pesca fue uno de los primeros atractivos turísticos que produjo la generación de servicios adicionados a esta actividad, de hecho, se decía que Pucón era el paraíso de los pescadores y el origen del pueblo se debía a ella.

A medida que fueron pasando los años el interés comercial se volcó netamente hacia el turismo. La materia prima estaba y la cordialidad de sus habitantes y su entorno natural cautivó a todo aquel que lo visitaba. Para entonces se acostumbraba a que las casas de familias lugareñas albergaran a turistas originando una importante alternativa de ingreso. Posteriormente se construyeron hostales, hoteles potenciando el desarrollo comunal y ocupando mano de obra local. A partir de estos y muchos otros datos históricos se dio origen a lo que hoy conocemos.

Este parque es administrado por la CONAF, en la entrada los guardaparques entregan indicaciones sobre el cuidado de la naturaleza, entre otras, no contaminar las aguas con shampoo o jabón, para ello el Parque cuenta con sectores para camping, especialmente habilitados con las instalaciones necesarias que dan comodidad a aquellos viajeros que deciden quedarse por más tiempo dialogando con la madre naturaleza.

Río Turbio: Esta ruta te lleva a las cascadas del río Turbio, por un hermoso y desconocido sendero. Pasando el Aerodromo, tomar la ruta que indica “El Cerduo”,subir por ella unos 11 Kms hasta encontrarse con 2 portones que generalmente están cerrados, pero se pueden pasar en bicicleta para seguir subiendo hacia las cascadas. Son aproximadamente 30Kms ida y vuelta.

Lago Tinquilco - PN Huerquehue: Pedalear rumbo al PN Huerquehue es un desafío para cualquier ciclista, si consideramos que son 30 kms para llegar al lago Tinquilco y más de 600 mts de dura subida. La recompensa por llegar son los maravillosos paisajes del camino y el lugar paradisíaco donde se llega.

Palguín - Coñaripe: Cruza el Parque Nacional Villarica por la ladera Sur del Volcán Villarica, son 42 Kms desde las termas de Palguín hasta Coñaripe, por una huella también apta para 4X4 a través de un bosque maravilloso.

Caburga Springs: It is a 35 km (22 mi) cycle there and back, in one of the classic Pucon tours. You take the route to Caburga and then towards the Quelhue walkway, just before the Airport. From here on the rest of the route is unpaved. After passing the walkway it borders the river. During the route you can visit water springs, such as the Carileufu.

The way back can be either along the same route or the highway, not without first enjoying the Caburga springs.

Volcanic Caves: For trained cyclists, this circuit is a challenge as it is a long steep route with stones and afterwards a very fast descent on a route with many curves and traffic. The views of the lake are stunning.

Rio Turbio: This route will take you along a beautiful and solitary path to the Turbio River waterfalls.

After the international Airport you need to take the route marked as “El Cerduo” and go up that way for about 11 km (6.8 mi) till you reach 2 gates that are generally closed, but that can be passed by bicycle to continue the way up to the waterfalls. It is approximately 30 km (18.6 mi) there and back.

Lago Tinquilco - PN Huerquehue: Cycle to the Huerquehue national park is a challenge for any cyclist; consider that there are 30 kms to reach the Tinquilco lake and more than 600 meters of hard climb. The reward for the one who do it are the wonderful landscapes of this park.

Lugares recomendados Laguna Quillelhue - PN Villarrica En este sector se puede apreciar una gran variedad de avifauna, sobretodo durante el otoño. Además en esta zona es posible encontrar al coipo.

Delta del Trancura La desembocadura del río Trancura en el lago Villarrica es un excelente lugar para el avistaje de aves acuáticas.

PN Huerquehue La presencia de bosques de Araucarias es uno de los principales atractivos de este parque. Con paciencia y un poco de suerte se puede escuchar y ver al pájaro carpintero, además de patos en sus lagunas.

Centro de Skí El Camino se encuentra asfaltado hasta el km 2 y luego continúa con camino de ripio hasta el Centro de Ski. Por él se llega a un refugio donde está el primer andarivel (Juncalillo) y los estacionamientos. Allí existen sectores de suaves lomas donde es posible practicar sin necesidad de pagar andarivel. También es común ver familias enteras deslizándose por las laderas arriba de un trineo o haciendo figuras de nieve.

Deportes de Nie ve Snow Sports

Con la apertura de la temporada de nieve (Julio al 12 de Octubre) es posible observar un clima netamente montañés. De todas partes de Chile, Brasil, Argentina y otros países del mundo, llegan los buscadores de la nieve polvo para deslizarse con destreza y estilo por los faldeos del volcán.

También cuentan apasionados por la fotografía, que por esos días pueden hacer del Volcán y sus atardeceres, una postal de lujo.

El centro de Ski cuenta con 7 andariveles (de sillas y arrastre) y 20 pistas, unas más empinadas que otras. Todas son un desafío y una fuente de adrenalina para snowboarders y esquiadores.

Tanto para el snowboard, como ski y randonné la exigencia física es media –alta.

Si no vienes preparado para esta aventura, en la cafetería del Centro de ski o en agencias de turismo es posible arrendar el equipo necesario.

SKi Center The road is paved for the first 2 km and then continues a gravel road until the Ski Center. Along this road you reach a platform with the first aerial tram (Jucalillo) and the parking lots. There are several sectors of smooth hills where it is possible to practice without paying for the aerial tram. It is also common to see entire families gliding down the slopes on a sledge or making snow figures.

The Ski center has 7 ski lifts (chair and cart) and about 20 tracks, some steeper than others. They are all a challenge and a source of adrenaline for snowboarders and skiers.

For snowboarding, skiing and randonnee, the physical demand is medium – high.

If you don’t have the equipment for this adventure, in the coffee shop of the Ski Center or in Tourism Agencies you can rent all you need.
