VISITORS’ COMMENTS The way this particular segment of the apparel industry is growing is incredible. An incredible amount of innovations are on display and there are applications of ideas from the entrepreneurs who have come here this time and who are unleashing their imagination and innovation, which is very distinctive compared to other areas of the apparel industry. Bangladesh is a story about its people – the story of the millions of unknown faces, small and marginal farmers and their families. It is these people who make up the workforce. They are extremely adaptive to the growth of the industry and now what we can see here at the Denim Expo is part of their story! Their hands and their minds make what we call an industry. That’s why I say the story of Bangladesh is a story of people’s aspiration, resilience and innovation.

Bangladesh Denim Expo is a fantastic opportunity for companies both in Bangladesh and abroad to network and to see what kind of products other companies have to offer. I think the fact that such a leading event is held in Bangladesh helps to promote the industry here. Of course, the Expo offers the opportunity for the best of the best Bangladeshi companies to showcase the innovation in their product here. So, I think the Expo is a great place for denim companies to promote themselves and the RMG industry of Bangladesh as a whole.

Bangladesh Denim Expo is a great way of showcasing Bangladesh to the international community and offers the opportunity for the global denim community to share their experiences. I was very interested to see booths promoting sustainable denim production. Almost every booth is showcasing how methods of water reduction and chemical reduction are being used, which just goes to show that Bangladesh is advancing at a very fast pace in the use of eco-friendly practices in the export of denim garments. I believe that Bangladesh has a very bright future and will be the number one production resource of denim in the world. I wish Bangladesh all the success and really thank Mostafiz for showcasing Bangladesh to the entire world. MS. Bangladesh Denim Expo makes a valuable contribution for all our garment and fabric manufacturers and they can find direction in trim and washing all under one roof. Exhibitors can see that buyers and designers are attending the event and they can take orders or make contact with customers which helps the factories and entrepreneurs go further. Bangladesh is the second largest apparel exporter and our vision is to export $50 Billion by 2021, when Bangladesh will celebrate 50 years of her independence. Right now, we are exporting about $30 Billion. We have a huge demographic advantage – our population is young and energetic. 70% of our population is below 40 years of age. We are looking forward to seeing these young Bangladeshi people working hard to make this industry sustainable and to becoming the number one garment exporter in the world. MR. FARUQUE HASSAN Senior Vice President, BGMEA & Managing Director, Giant Apparels Ltd.

Bangladesh Denim Expo, I think, is now itself a brand. As far as Marks & Spencer are concerned, we now make 85% of our denim in Bangladesh. We bring our denim technicians to Bangladesh during the time of the Expo to meet local mills and this time the feedback that I have got is saying that soon the local mills will be examples of sustainable denim production for the whole world. So, it is a great place to be and for Marks & Spencer as a brand, I think that Denim Expo plays a vital role in the growth of our business here. Bangladesh is our biggest denim resource and we are well on the way to making Bangladesh the sourcing destination for the whole world.

Ten years ago, it was not easy to find any good wash technicians who were from Bangladesh. Nowadays, if anyone is looking for good wash technicians there are definitely a lot of local washing experts available. For me the main reason behind this change is Bangladesh Denim Expo. Internationally the brands and retailers from Europe, USA, Australia, Canada and South Africa are all aware about the Denim Expo. As the know about the Denim Expo it means they are also aware of the denim industry in Bangladesh. So, that is why, as a country, Bangladesh has become the second largest denim export country and is highly regarded internationally – this success has been greatly helped by the Denim Expo.

Bangladesh has overtaken China and the rest of the world in terms of vertical denim production, from fabric to garments, to wet and dry processing, to washing and developments in R&D. This is high time to let the fashion world know the capabilities of Bangladesh in terms of sustainability, product development and innovation. I’m looking forward very much to promoting the capabilities of Bangladesh to the whole world – to explaining what has been achieved and what more can be done with regards to sustainability, development and the production of fashion product. I wish the Expo the best of luck! Mr. Abdullah Al Maher Director, Export Sales - Garments Division Youngone Corporation

It’s really refreshing to see the amazing selection of brands and suppliers here, and I found it really cool that everyone is under one roof. I think it’s always good to be promoting Bangladesh as it is one of the world’s leading denim manufacturers. I think the Expo does an amazing job at raising the profile of Bangladesh and the denim industry here to the rest of the world. I

It’s great to be at the Denim Expo again for this edition. I make sure that I come here every time that it is held. I think it’s a great contribution to the apparel industry in general in Bangladesh and it’s a great contribution to us as a company as we find lots of valuable input here. It’s good to see all the suppliers together in one place. Bangladesh Denim Expo helps to grow the industry because it provides a great platform for all the denim manufacturers to show what they are capable of. It draws a lot of people internationally to come to visit Bangladesh and see what is going on and I think Bangladesh can benefit a lot from that!

This is my first time at the Bangladesh Denim Expo and it was super exciting to see so many suppliers, fabric mills, pocketing and sundry suppliers from all over the world. The main theme that I have seen exhibitors focus on is sustainability and ethical fashion which is great for the business and the right thing to do. It absolutely helps the Bangladesh economy and export industry by having people from all over the world come to the Expo and recognize the talents here in Bangladesh. Not only is it bringing tourism and people to the country, but they can see all the talent and innovation available in Bangladesh.

I see that Bangladesh Denim Expo is a very good platform, allowing experts like us to get together and see what’s happening in Bangladesh. The Expo is definitely helping the Bangladesh denim industry toward growth and change. I see that Bangladesh is now not only considered the country for basic items and that more valuable product is being developed and the variety and quality is getting increasingly better. One thing I would like to say about Bangladesh is that I believe over the next ten years it will become the key sourcing destination, especially for denim. I love Bangladesh!

It should be having a positive vibe to it and this is why the Denim Expoi is a really good initiative. Thank you Mostafiz for organizing such a great event! Whenever you have the chance to visit Bangladesh, don’t only stay in Dhaka. I think you have to get around because it’s a beautiful country with beaches and Sundarbans and you can visit Chittagong Hill Tracts. Bangladesh Denim Expo is now internationally recognized and renowned. Bangladesh Denim Expo is now no longer only for Bangladesh – it is comparable with events in Amsterdam, New York, Paris or Hong Kong. This is a very big platform for the Bangladesh denim industry today – we have customers who are coming to Bangladesh only for the Expo and it offers the opportunity for us to express ourselves and show the latest innovations and create a brand image for Bangladesh. Secondly, I would say that the Expo offers the opportunity for participants to show sustainable product which is a good sign as sustainable product development is the future for our country and the next generation.

I think there is a fantastic opportunity to concentrate on R&D in textiles and expertise in technology. This is my first visit to the Expo and I am really excited to be here and see the developments in fashion and meet great manufacturers.

I

Bangladesh Denim Expo is a very important exhibition for us, where we meet our garment manufacturers – we deal with a lot of nominated business so it’s very important for us to meet our partners here in Bangladesh to get to know who we are dealing with and also to show our range and capabilities to them and to our European customers – for us it is the ‘go to’ exhibition! Bangladesh has become an important market for denim and we see that things are improving constantly, and I see a great future for the Bangladesh denim business.

Bangladesh Denim Expo is the perfect platform to show Bangladesh’s strength in denim. It is also useful for us as a mill, to show our strengths on denim to customers, to see what our competitors are doing and to keep up with denim trends. I wish to thank the organizers for arranging such a fruitful platform and for promoting Bangladesh in a positive way.
