MY DEAR DENIM
99 EXHIBITORS
FRIENDS wish to express my sincerest thanks to all our exhibitors, visitors, speakers and collaborators for their I participation in the expanded 11th edition of Bangladesh Denim Expo. We have been overwhelmed with the positive response from our 99 exhibitors and the 5692 international and local industry professional who

showed their support by attending the event.
My team and I are constantly striving to organize an event of international importance on the denim calendar and to both promote the wealth of opportunities available in Bangladesh and provide a forum that encourages the exchange of knowledge and experience to help take the industry to the next level. This edition’s theme of RESPONSIBILITY offered the opportunity to open the doors for full and frank discussions regarding the adoption of responsible business practices within the Bangladesh denim industry. Our panel discussions on the topic, moderated by Mr. Andrew Olah, founder of the Kingpins denim trade show, were particularly informative and well attended. I wish to express my gratitude to the esteemed panellists for their contribution and valuable industry insights. The following pages feature information about and highlights of, our 11th edition. Featured are visitor and exhibitor numbers, our seminar and panel discussion sessions, our master class sessions that offered an informative, personal view of the denim industry today, our trend zone area, and other events promoting the theme of RESPONSIBILITY over the two days of the event.
610 FOREIGN VISITORS
Preparations are well under way for our next event and my team and I look forward to welcoming you all again at the 12th edition of Bangladesh Denim Expo, being held at the International Convention City Bashundhara, Dhaka on the 6th and 7th April, 2020. EXHIBITORS FEEDBACK SAYFUL ALAM
MANAGING DIRECTOR, NASSA GROUP Bangladesh is now in a very good position in denim apparel & denim manufacturing. We are now competing directly with China, Pakistan, India & other countries. With this competition our customers have to know our identity, our denim and capabilities. In that sense Bangladesh Denim Expo is playing a vital role to introduce our denim industry to the world. So I wish all the best for Bangladesh Denim Expo.
SHAMS MAHMUD
MANAGING DIRECTOR, SHASHA DENIM LTD. Bangladesh Denim Expo plays a big role in Bangladesh, especially promoting the denim sector. I think it was this show that played a big part in the government declaring denim as a sub-sector in the national export policy. So big hats off to Mostafiz Uddin and his team for the hard work behind the scenes and for promoting Bangladesh to the world.
Organic cotton qualities featured strongly for the season, either in 100% cotton variations or blended with TENCEL™ fibres for an ultra soft, luxurious handfeel.
Of particular interest to visitors to the trend area were the qualities using recycled polyester (PET) offered in a variety of weights and featuring comfort through to hiperformance stretch articles.
energy combined with zero effluent discharge – a truly responsible approach to denim production!
The samestory wasreflected on coloured articles with new organic dye-stuffs being promoted together with A number of mills were massive increase in ecoshowing alternative dyefriendly chemical dyeing stuffs and ‘Smart Indigo’ processes. The clear dyeing techniques, message for the season is offering a variety of indigo that the industry is taking shades and massive responsibility and truly reductions in water and cleaning up it act! 24

JORDI JUANI
ASIA REGION DIRECTOR, JEANOLOGIA SL Responsibility for the Bangladesh denim industry basically stems from the need to continue as being the engine for the Bangladesh economy. It is necessary for the industry to take the leadership to transfer themselves to face the challenges. Bangladesh Denim Expo plays a very important role to make the world understand that the jeans industry in the country is really promoting transformation in the country. Bangladesh Denim Expo is a meeting point and a way to interchange points of view and to understand the market.
ALICE TONELLO R&D DIRECTOR , TONELLO SRL We believe in different shades of responsibility but the main ones are about people. We believe in the people that are thinking of creating abetter industry. So we produce technology and what we do is to create technology to improve the reduction of consumption per garment. But the reality for us is about the people who are using the technology in the industry. We are always thinking about ways to create great new technology that are safer for the worker. Responsibility is to create and treat the garment in the right way.

In terms of denim, responsibility means the process is running in the industry in a proper way by considering sustainable concepts. Everything should be sustainable and this sustainability should be from both sides: suppliers and manufacturers. Bangladesh is only known as a price conscious destination. All brands from all over the world are coming to Bangladesh Denim Expo. This event started in a different way, but now it is graduating to the next level.
Bangladesh Denim Expo is doing a great job in terms of promoting a campaign and they have completely converted the theory into reality. It’s now the responsibility for every citizen to be aware and more sustainable. We are trying to bring product which is more sustainable in terms of water consumption, in terms of ethical sustainability, in terms of energy consumption and in terms of fibre blend.

Bangladesh Denim Expo is helping this sector to grow over its11th editions. Thanks to the effort of Mostafiz Uddin, we are having a beautiful cooperation and synergy between the customers and the suppliers here in Bangladesh.
The theme of Bangladesh Denim Expo is amazing . Responsibility involves the ethics about how we make things better, how we contribute to make better denim. This is our future. We can’t alter this truth. This event brought alot of evolution & revolution to Bangladesh as a country by clearly stating what the way forward should be. This event is teaching how to get better in the future.

Today the new technologies are available from many countries, including Turkey and Vietnam. In this event people get to know either machinery, either chemicals, either way to process the garments can improve the situation in terms of water consumption, In terms of less ultra dose chemicals. So the moment has come to doing a better way. Through Bangladesh Denim Expo we are able to understand the customers’ needs and find the best solution to the problems.
Such kind of show, is beneficial for all of the people who belong to the denim industry. If you are the part of this show, you learn about different product lines and the importance of sustainability. This is the best place to learn from other people and this is the way to move forward. Bangladesh Denim Expo is a very good platform where you can meet all the industry people under one roof.

Responsibility lies with the investor, not only to produce denim. We have some social responsibility too, and we also have some environmental responsibility. So we should care about nature and social well-fare. For the promotion of Bangladesh to the world, this is a very good initiative. More visitors are now visiting Bangladesh Denim Expo and we have also had a very good response from the market.
Denim is always responsible because every one need to behave like this. To be more sustainable in these times means using the latest technology to reduce water consumption and energy and to produce more sustainable washes. HEAD of JEANS & GARMENTS, CHT GERMANY GMBH People are able to get clean garments directly in our shops. But we need to consider the production locations as well. Bangladesh Denim Expo is the best platform to transport all ideas and efforts in order to make the industry more clean and more acceptable. We have lots of poison in our clothes, in order to avoid such types of poison we should aware of this and Bangladesh Denim Expo is the best place for this.
If we want to produce something in a sustainable way, in a responsible way we should consider the consumption of water, usage of chemicals and the processes we are following. Bangladesh Denim Expo is doing a phenomenal job to promote awareness of sustainability and awareness of the different supply chains throughout the whole industry. Bangladesh Denim Expo helps to promote sustainability to different customers worldwide.

We all know that denim is supposed to be the most polluting textile in the world. For us, to preserve soil and theenvironment we need to work on reducing consumption of cotton, recycling cotton and other materials. Aside from all this, we should consider how we become more transparent to the buyers and the customers and I believe this is a huge responsibility for the denim industry. We should also consider how save natural resources. I am very happy to see the way Mostafiz Uddin has created this concept and showing how we should be practicing it!
Bangladesh Denim Expo helps denim the industry to bring people to gether from all over the world, in order to exchange ideas, to talk and compare to neighbour countries. The Expo also allows the world to know the efforts the industry is making.

My impression has traditionally being informed by the well-known picture of RANA PLAZA, both my visit here. Firs time I have completely alter this. This expo is being exemplary to the change of mind set and situation in Bangladesh. The improvement over the past year have been incredible. If we see the industry particularly we can see that ACCORD has been improved, Safety and increasing the Labor standard and here we are talking about sustainability hope to move that forward and I am optimistic that the right partnership we shall achieve that.
We should come and see the Bangladesh at Bangladesh Denim Expo. The idea of Mostafiz Uddin since the beginning we are one of after, that first guy who really believe in Bangladesh as a very open mind platform. In terms of the Bangladesh Denim Expo, it’s a brilliant opportunity to promote brilliance of the Bangladesh denim industry. I think about of people were unaware of what happens here and how the jeans are made. So it’s being a very eye-opener for me as a journalist and it is something I definitely take away and promote to more people where the hard work the citizen of Bangladesh put in to make one pair jeans.
Bangladesh Denim Expo really helps to prove the importance of Bangladesh as a denim producing country and can show how efficientis Bangladesh in manufcturing sustainable products. It’s really important for the buyer to come here to see this products.
