f you follow our social media, then you might be aware that we
Inow have a meetup on the last Friday of every month! Hosted at Gilks garage café around 6.30 pm, Kineton, Warwick (not far from the British Motor Museum, Gaydon), it’s the perfect opportunity for a natter over food and drink. Our inaugural event was a great success, so a huge thank you to everyone who attended, including the good folks from the North Oxfordshire group. Our next Natter will be on August 28, and we’d like to extend our invitation to anybody who wishes to come for a chat – any member or anyone who might be interested in the Club alike! With the Triumph and MG weekend at Malvern now right around the corner, we’d also like to remind everyone that not only are we attending and camping for the weekend alongside the TR Youth, but we’ll also be competing in the Zed young members concours, the auto solo, and the interclub games. We can’t recommend enough that you go onto the Motorsport UK website, fill in the online form, and get yourself a free clubman racing licence. It takes less than five minutes, it’ll allow you to compete in all of our relevant motorsport for a year, and you get a discount with numerous brands including
Halfords. You can’t come and play on the circuit without it! Needless to say, we’ve all been working hard on getting our cars ready for the event. My ZR 160 ‘ShedR’ project is finally nearing completion, with the painted wings finally on and requiring only to be tweaked into their correct position, and the rear arches to be finished shortly. Painting and lacquering was a nerve-wracking experience, but I’m glad I persevered as the finished product should be quite presentable. We’ll just have to see how it performs at the Zed concours. Whilst doing that, myself and Charlie from TR Youth also fitted ‘scrapyard new’ brass gear selector bushes to his TF, acquired from my local breakers yard in Derby from a very sorry-looking MGF. It has, however, transformed the gearshift, and both cars should soon be ready for the Malvern auto solos and the California Cup! We’ll see you there!
