FELLOWSHIP
For Black and Latinx musicians entering grades 5-12
Musical Pathway Fellowship Are you a Black or Latinx musician interested in pursuing your craft? Develop your musical skills through the Musical Pathway Fellowship (MPF), a full-scholarship program for students entering grades 5-12. MPF provides ongoing, multi-year support to students, including comprehensive music instruction through high school, preparing students to enter a conservatory or university music program upon graduation. Areas of study include all string, woodwind, brass and percussion instruments, as well as piano, voice, classical guitar, harp and composition.

ALL MPF STUDENTS: • Take weekly hour-long private lessons • Attend weekly classes such as piano, music theory and eurhythmics • Participate in an ensemble • Attend master classes, performance seminars and other curricular offerings on relevant topics • Receive feedback through program advisement meetings and semester performance juries • Have access to all conservatory master classes and performances • Enjoy full privileges at CIM’s Robinson Music Library • Receive complimentary tickets to almost every Cleveland Orchestra performance at Severance Hall (or a complimentary subscription to Adella, the Orchestra’s app, while audiences are limited) • Benefit from comprehensive mentorship from conservatory students, professional musicians and/or music educators of diverse backgrounds • Receive individual guidance from experienced admissions staff

Application and Audition Requirements Acceptance into CIM’s Musical Pathway Fellowship is by audition only. In addition to completing the online application at cim.edu/mpf, students are required to submit: • One letter of recommendation from a non-family member who can attest to the student’s musical prowess and potential • A 500-750 word personal essay, describing their musical goals • A live or recorded audition, following the instructions found at cim.edu/precollege-audition
TUITION AND FEES: Thanks to the generosity of its funders, all students in the Musical Pathway Fellowship receive a full-tuition scholarship.
