Did you know? Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is on the rise and obesity is usually a leading cause? Many of us know what diabetes is but may think that it only affects the elderly. Unfortunately, diabetes also affects the young, often as a result of our lifestyle. According to a survey conducted in 2010, 21% of Singapore’s “under 55” population are diabetic. If not kept under control, this number can rise and affect more people. As part of this year’s World Diabetes Day, Alexandra Hospital is organising a public forum to equip people with diabetes on practical tips to manage diabetes at work, care for their feet and live a healthy lifestyle. So come, join us and pick up useful tips on how to keep diabetes at bay!
