KNIGHTSBRIDGE BRINGS POWER AND LIGHT TO THE GARDEN WITH ITS OUTDOOR RANGE
Summer is here, and with lockdown giving those with them a greater appreciation of their gardens, there’s a fantastic opportunity to take lighting and power outdoors thanks to the comprehensive IP-rated Weatherproof and Outdoor ranges from Knightsbridge – one of the UK’s leading manufacturer of wiring devices, accessories and lighting. The Weatherproof collection includes sockets, fused spurs, switches and switch boxes (including remote-controlled items); plus ancillaries such as enclosures and connectors. For lighting, there’s a huge selection – from floodlights for domestic and commercial applications and exterior decorative fittings through to spike and groundlights for gardens and decking.
Safety first
With safety paramount, all wiring devices and ancillaries are rated to a minimum of IP66. This means they are, first, completely secure against ingress of dust and any possibility of accidental contact and, second, protected against high pressure jets of water. Connectors are rated to IP68, making them safely submersible to beyond 1m depth, so ideal for water features and undersoil cable extensions.
Casings for wiring devices are manufactured from tough, impact and UV-resistant polycarbonate, and all offer cable entry knockouts of 20mm.
Double pole 13A sockets come in single or two gang, with two gang RCD or wireless-controlled options available too. The wireless remotes – as with the companion switch boxes – operate on 2.4GHz with a range of 10 to 20m, depending on environmental conditions.
Two-way switches are available as single to two gang and are 10X and fully rated for fluorescent or inductive loads.
There is a choice of two fused spurs, either switched or unswitched; and the collection is completed by cable glands and enclosures in a choice of sizes up to 184 x 274 x 135mm.
Let there be light
The company’s extensive high quality and easy to install exterior lighting collection includes floodlights, decorative and spike and groundlights.
Floodlights come in a huge variety of permutations – styles, materials, IP ratings, lamp type and outputs – and provide for every requirement, environment, budget and taste. PIR or microwave sensor versions offer a choice of time, sensitivity and lux level. Floodlight casings come in aluminium or polycarbonate, in black and white, depending on model and lamp options including HQI, SON and LED. All floodlights are IP rated to IP65, except for LED PIR security spotlights in polycarbonate which are IP44.
Wattages vary from 70W to 150W in HQI and SON, and 10W to 200W in LED. LED outputs range from 10lm to 17150lm, with colour options being RGB, 3500K standard or warm white, 4000K cool white, 5000K blue-white and 6000K daylight.
As with all Knightsbridge products, the floodlights have been designed with installers in mind, featuring integral or easy-fix brackets for wall mounting and internal junction boxes or terminals blocks to allow direct wiring.
Exterior decorative lights come in a range of either contemporary or traditional designs – ranging from square, rectangular, round or cylindrical wall washers in black, white or steel finishes through to bollards, steel and glass globes; and aluminium carriage lanterns.
Lamp choices are LED, GU10 or E27 depending on the fitting, and wattages range from 3W in 3500K warm white for LED mini wall lights through to 60W for globe wall lights.
Spike lights for garden accents and pathways are offered in either thermoplastic, stainless still or diecast aluminium. Lamps are either E27, GU10 or LED in warm white, blue or daylight; and IP ratings range from IP44 for thermoplastic units through to IP65 for metal lights. Metal spike lights have 2m of fitted cables and come in black, grey, steel or brushed chrome finishes.
Knightsbridge’s stainless steel or aluminium groundlights are ideal for driveways, decks, patios and even indoors, such as in kitchens.
A choice of contemporary shapes is available, and lamps are LED or GU10 Halogen depending on model. The units are pre-wired with up to 2.5m of cable; and lipped or interchangeable versions offer flexibility in light direction. Finishes are chrome, brushed chrome or stainless steel.
Thanks to Knightsbridge’s quality and hard-wearing IP-rated weatherproof and outdoor ranges, installers and designers can provide end-users with both power and light in the garden for all applications, combining ultimate safety with high performance and superb value for money.
