NaJuWo 2013
NaJuWo stands for Nationales Junioren Wochenende (National Junior’s Weekend), but is anything but restricted to juniors from Germany. Anyone between the age of 15 and 25 is invited! So go ahead and tell your JB about it or try to get a friend who is not involved with CISV to come. One of the aims of the NaJuWo is to build a transition to next years content area “Diversity”. As a more specific topic we chose “Heimat” (further explaind on the following page) which we will be working on throughout the weekend.
NaJuWo 2013
Have you ever felt so at home you didn’t have words for it? We sometimes do, but we also did find a word for it: Heimat! Heimat is a German word with no English equivalent, it means home, but not just birthplace. The word Heimat contains more dimensions; It is also about identity, self-perception and acceptance; society, language and culture. CISV is a place where you go abroad. So now we thought it would be time to go the other way round, Lets go back home-Heimat! We think it will be a rewarding experience to do so. It will be easier to understand another’s point of view, when you first understand yours. You probably already started to think about your perception of Heimat. Where do you feel at home? Where do you feel you belong? Do you only feel at home in your own house or do you consider your whole neighbourhood/city/region/country as your home?
