Miami Beach Music Festival Program Book

Page 1

From the Founder and Artistic Director Dear Esteemed Patrons, We are honored to have you join us for the eighth season of the Miami Beach Classical Music Festival (MMF). Our 2021 season brings more than 75 young artists to Miami Beach for three weeks of study and performance experiences.

Michael Rossi Founder and Artistic Director Miami Beach Music Festival

MMF is grateful to return to our home on Miami Beach. MMF deepens its partnership with The Betsy-South Beach, its longtime host hotel, and will continue as a special concert venue for evening student performances, as it has done since the program’s inception. The Temple Emanu-El Cultural Arts Center will also be hosting a Symphony Concert for our MMF Conducting Institute where emerging artists gain valuable experience leading a full orchestra while being coached, as they study all aspects of the art of conducting with acclaimed faculty.

The 2021 summer season is anchored by two cutting-edge opera productions. Cendrillon tells the famous story of Cinderella in richly romantic music by French composer Jules Massenet. In English composer Benjamin Britten’s comic opera Albert Herring, the timid Albert shocks the village folk with drunken hijinks. Both productions feature MMF’s talented vocalists and a full orchestra, and will take place in partnership with Faena Art and in one of the highest-profile venues in Miami Beach, the breathtaking Faena Forum. I can’t express how grateful we are to the City of Miami Beach and The Betsy-South Beach for giving us so much support to make this festival possible. We’ve experienced unprecedented growth each season thanks to the cooperation and encouragement we’ve received city-wide. It gives us great pleasure to give back to our Miami communities through our work and performances. Sincerely, Michael Rossi MMF Artistic Director & Founder
