A Message From Michael Rossi, Founder And Artistic Director
Dear Esteemed Patrons, The Miami Classical Music Festival has always instilled the importance of adaptability and sculpting the multi-faceted skills in our students through our Career Institute. This has rained true during the current pandemic. During the months of April and May the MCMF board of directors decided unanimously to postpone our scheduled season to 2021 and adapt our educational program to a virtual format for the months of June and July. We challenged our students to overcome the challenges of collaborative performance through a virtual platform. This summer over 50 students participated in our virtual program in Vocal, Instrumental, Piano, Conducting, and Career Institute programs. Creating solo, chamber, opera scenes, and zarzuela performances all from the safety of their homes. The 2020 Virtual Festival created a new outlet for our students to stay connected and creative during the pandemic. Our students participated in all our normal education opportunities such as private lessons with our esteemed faculty, masterclasses, coachings, and daily studio classes. It is important that we teach our students skills which can be useful in their future performance careers after the performing arts world returns to its normal operations. All students participated in the Career Institute which included daily classes on website creation, creating a company/non-profit, grant writing, marketing tools, and arts business management, and group workshops on video and audio editing courses.. We tasked our students and faculty to learn new programs such as Final Cut Pro, Adobe Premiere Pro, Pro Tools, and Logic Pro X to make these performances possible. All our students participated in masterclasses taught by Grammy award winning audio engineer Rafa Sardina learning how to prepare to record at a recording studio and how to edit their own recordings from their home studios; A skill that can be used to produce higher quality audition videos and promotional media in their future careers. The Miami Classical Music Festival was especially excited to offer our classes free of cost to six high school and middle school students from the Miami-Date County public schools thanks to the gracious support of The Children’s Trust foundation. Sincerely, Michael Rossi Artistic Director and Founder Miami Classical Music Festival
