the building blocks of life

Along the Biscayne Canal in the pristine community of Miami Shores you will find Miami Country Day School, a PK3-12th grade college preparatory school. But before there was a school, there was a camp. Our founders knew that learning could not end with the academic year. They recognized how summertime provided a chance to build on the important lessons of the school year in a fun, relaxed environment. More than 90 years after the founding of the summer camp that started it all, the school’s advanced 23-acre campus — equipped with 24-hour security, a weather alert system, and two full-time registered nurses — continues to offer premier summer programming in South Florida. With a diverse range of offerings to choose from in 2020, you are bound to build your best summer yet.

Daily Swim

Each week has its own theme with special events and activities tailored to that week’s theme.

We strive to give each camper a full experience. Every day is different. Each camp day starts in our award-winning Center for the Arts with the Morning Blast Off — an epic DJ-led pep rally with musical performances and competitions — the rest of the day lets campers enjoy over 40 activities.

The one staple on each camper’s daily schedule is swimming! Weather permitting, Miami Country Day Camp prides itself on having every child swim every day. If your camper cannot swim, our lifeguardcertified instructors will teach them to swim during their scheduled pool time.

Our full theme week calendar is available online. Additionally, Friday Fun Day events feature special guests and activities, and weekly Movie Nights on Friday evenings finish the week off just right!

COMPETITIVE STROKE CAMP The cornerstone of the Competitive Stroke Camp’s success is the dedication to helping campers improve each of the four strokes when it comes to technique, training and race strategy. A balanced curriculum emphasizes swimming efficiently, training effectively, working as a team and having fun. This holistic approach to becoming a better swimmer is at the essence of “Total Performance” and is one of the reasons swimmers find success with our camps. Training is highly personalized with small-group instruction, low swimmer-to-coach environment, team and leadership building sessions, daily video analysis of strokes and classroom sessions. Most importantly, campers have FUN – both in and out of the pool – with scavenger hunts, variety shows, games and meeting new friends! The camp accommodates both the novice and highlytrained swimmer. Please note this is not a learn-to-swim camp. We recommend campers to have had at least one season of competitive swimming and know how to swim all four strokes.
