CONCEPT STORE CONCEPT STORE Extending from works you completed in DIIS6124 Interior Strategies 1, you will design a Concept Store in the same site that you have surveyed and analysed – Hin Bus Depot, George Town, Penang Island, for the artist that you have met earlier. Focusing on ‘Atmosphere’ as the basic elements, you will consider how these themes relate to your artist’s subject area. You will draw inspiration from many artistic outputs to ensure your design encapsulates the essence of your artist and its branding, whilst providing a quality experience for your visitors. You also will carry out a ‘Review & Abstract’ task. In this task, you will produce a ‘Review’ in graphic report format looking at design strategies and interiority of a practitioner on an adaptive reuse scheme, which forms part of your precedent studies. At the same time, you will produce ‘Abstracts’ using hybrid technique (model making, photography & illustration) as a representation of your design intention of the ‘Concept Store’. This form part of the examinations of spatial quality of your design intervention, focusing on ‘Atmosphere’. The ‘Review & Abstract’ will communicate the ethos and design output of the practitioner and will form a critical comparison to your own ethos and design identity. The ‘Review & Abstract’ must show how you have gathered relevant knowledge surrounding your case study, critically analysing aspects such as site, building, planning and layout, materials and atmosphere. It must be referenced correctly and presented in a professional manner with designed graphics and appropriate imagery. Workshops will be given on researching, referencing and formatting.
